What a simple, comfortable place in which to dine. This is not fancy. You order at the counter and your food is then brought to you. The employees are professional and efficient. The food was plentiful, delicious and priced fairly. We were in a hurry and couldn't have chosen better. We'll be back. Oh, I loved the lollipops on the way out .😊

Great food with excellent service. Ate at Rick's several times and never any complaints. There deserts are over the top so be sure to save room for some.

We always enjoy eating at John’s for the excellent food, the great (and large) salads, and their fair prices. They have many good options on their menu for vegetarians, including a vegetarian burger patty that is available. Also, their burgers are very good and the fries are also very good. We consider it a great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch with friends or family. I gave it 4 stars only because it is a “order at the counter” style restaurant. The food is delivered to your table after ordering and sitting down. The service is usually prompt and friendly. We have never been disappointed here with our meals or felt that we had overpaid. We will definitely keep returning here.

First of all you must know that I'm a dinner enthusiast. DDD is high on my list of hidden gem places. John's is such a place. You can go in and tell them what you feel like, and they'll get it for you and charge you a reasonable price for a tasty and large meal. We saw a plate of fries being served to a customer and made the mistake of ordering a large plate as an appetizer for the 4 of us. A third of it was left behind. Their salads are very good with meat of your choice on them at your pleasure. Mexican, BBQ, huge burgers, steaks fish... All available, and more. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were referred to John's by the owners of monster shakes here in Palm springs: best date shake I ever had, bye the way. Go to these 2 places, they're great.

Wonderful little diner type restaurant. We had a great breakfast! You order your food at the counter and they deliver it to your table. Great selection, good prices, what we call, great little greasy spoon 😊 My husband had chicken fried steak and I had polish sausage and over easy eggs with perfectly crispy hash browns! We are from out of town and we're looking for a great breakfast spot and we definitely found it 😋 🍳🥞🧇🥐🍞☕ We will be back to try the lunch and dinner options too, everything looked great 🍔🍗🥦🥕🍅🥬

This is an order at the counter type diner. Old-school charm to it. Staff was friendly and grabbed whatever you needed or asked for. They are NOT dog friendly. I love taking my dog with me to places, but trust me do not try it here, there is lots of signage everywhere saying it. They are however kid/family friendly. I had the corned beef hash special with a side of French toast and both were really good and a fair price!

I was visiting the hospital nearby and was told John’s was the place to go for a good meal. I ordered the All-American Burger and it did not disappoint! It was huge, very delicious, and came with avocado, bacon, lettuce, and onion—basically a full salad on a burger. I didn’t need anything else, it was that filling. I was in a rush to get back to the hospital so I couldn’t get more pictures, but I’m glad I stopped here. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!

This was my go to lunch place for many years, back when I lived and worked in Palm Springs. Gosh, I think it's been over 30 years ago. So imagine my excitement (upon visiting the area) when I noticed it was still here! We visited twice and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. The chicken still has that distinctive charbroiled flavor. And the fried zucchini is still outstanding. I also tried a breakfast sandwich that was excellent. Even though they are super busy and it's seat yourself service, they manage to keep everything very clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I'll be back for sure. Just wish they had one closer to me.

Wanted to love it. Both of us had salads. Probably should have stuck with burgers. The menu isn't available. You just have to look on the wall. And what's on the wall does not even begin to describe what's on the menu. I would never order a salad again. I would try the other meals and think some yelper should assemble a "sekrit order list." This was suggested as a place for me based on my love of Meester Zeebra. You simply cannot compare the two. Meester Zeebra is excellent. John's was just ok. Service is weird. They give you a number, but there is no clear communication that the food comes to you (only if you dine in. If you dine out; you have to collect your order.) It's just confusing. If you happen to be at the Notth end of Palm Canyon, Rick is much better than John's.

John's Restaurant has a 1960's feel to it like I saw depicted in American Grafitti.  I loved the early Palm Springs vibe with Palm trees in front.  I found out John's opened in 1985.   I ordered fried chicken with fried zucchini at the counter.  Fried chicken had crispy skin with tender and juicy chicken underneath.  I enjoyed the fried chicken flavor.  Zucchini was cut like french fries.  The seasoned batter was crunchy.  Good mix of flavors from the batter and the zucchini.  Pretty good dish. 2nd visit I ordered the eggs and sausage with a side of bacon.  Home style potatoes had a crispy outer layer and lots of potato flavor.  Eggs were scrambled and full of egg flavor.  Bacon was crispy and I liked the salty flavor.  Sausage was my favorite part of the meal and had a tasty savory flavor.  Toasted bread had a nice crunch and mild flavor. Soda water was complimentary and refreshing. Service was friendly and efficient.  There are daily specials that sound great.  I'll have to time my next visit for when that ribeye steak is available.

Craving for some good ol' diner food, we came here as we didn't want to go to Elmer's again. For brunch we got the Breakfast melt on sourdough and Country Fried Steak & Eggs. Very extensive menu where you order at the counter, pay, get a number and sit yourself. Breakfast melt is a tasty sandwich, loaded with real ham (not the overly processed one), thick bacon, eggs, American cheese and tomato with 1000 island dressing. This calorie bomb is hearty and it's best to share it. I also prefer the hash brown over the home fries (cubed potatoes). Overall good. The country fried steak was definitely overwhelming. The ultra thick gravy overpowered everything under it. It was enjoyable for the first few bites but then it was hard to finish. Flavor was there, and the hash browns and over easy eggs perfectly cooked. The rye toast was a miss, hard and dry. Should've gone with the sourdough instead. Overall 3.5/5 for me. It is an order of hearty food with a side of coma. I like the order at counter process. Good service and available take out boxes you grab yourself without having to wait for anyone.

We stopped off here for a quick lunch bite. They had a bunch of breakfast, burgers and sandwich stuff. Think diner food. The food was pretty good. We ordered a tri-tip sandwich, along with a ham and turkey club sandwich with avocado. We later found out the avocado price was a steep add-on. We were half way eating and noticed a piece of hair in our fries. Short and curly. And that was our lunch... The restaurant was fine. Food tasted fine. I'm sure the hair thing is a one-off incident, but weighing it all in, we probably wouldn't go back.

We were in town for a conference so we stopped here for lunch.This was a classic downtown diner. It had a lot to offer as far as the menu went but when I ordered a quesadilla, it came out dry and unfulfilling would definitely go back, but would stay away from the Mexican.

It was way too windy at 849 (as we were sitting outside) and service was extremely slow, so we decided to go elsewhere for lunch. As we were walking back to our cars we came across this place and decided to give it a try. It's like a 60's type diner on the inside. They have a pretty extensive menu. With a Mexican twist. They also have burgers and other types od food here. They have a lot to offer here. I decided (trying to be healthy) to go with their Santa Fe chicken salad. They give you a food trey after you order at the counter, which is useless cuz they deliver your food separately (makes no sense); it just ends up cluttering the table. You can search yourself anywhere available after ordering your food up front. Our food came out quickly. Very colorful and vibrant. Lots of ingredients in the salad. Salad dressing was slightly bland. And the chicken was dry. Overall it was good. Healthy. My friend ordered the BBQ salad, and that sauce tasted a lot better.

This place had the feel of a diner with a service counter for ordering. Many of the menu items have pictures on the front menu wall for examples of what you'd be ordering. They have a large selection of food from breakfast to lunch. Once you order you find a place to sit and the food gets delivered to your table. Food portions are generous and everything we tried tasted great. We ended up eating here twice during our short trip. The staff were friendly and one gentleman kept our drinks full.

I looked on their website and a Cinnamon Roll French Toast Combo was on the menu. This is one of my favorite breakfasts so I was looking forward to trying theirs. I went to place my order only to be told they no longer serve it. Very disappointing. Please keep your online menu up to date!!

Place was very clean & Lots of food options to choose from. I got a sourdough bacon cheeseburger &it was delicious! Fries were nice and crispy. Josh N was our server & he gave us such a nice experience. Would definitely stop here again when in the area.

In hindsight, I maybe didn't order the right food here. It was hot and I was craving a salad so I went against my usual diner food order and got a chef salad. It was okay but I've had better salads. Since I don't eat pork, I asked for no ham and double turkey. The salad also comes with hard boiled egg, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and croutons. It's basically my ideal salad combo and yet it felt like something was missing. Because I couldn't be purely healthy with just a salad, I also got an order of fries. They, too, were just okay. Not bad but not the best I've had. I'm definitely not opposed to returning though and trying something different. The turkey melt caught my eye.

Nice and pleasant dining place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Staff were friendly and efficient. Price are reasonable compared to other breakfast place. I highly recommend the tuna salad sandwich.

I'm thinking John's is a bit of an anomaly? It feels like a remnant of old Palm Springs from when it was a sleepier, more mellow desert town, sans the glitz of downtown. The exterior exudes that vintage vibe, down to the weird chimney element on the wide roof and big windows facing Palm Canyon. Inside it feels like a diner but with tall, wood ceilings, with a row of 70's colored booths (you know; burnt orange, maroon, pea green, etc) ringing the perimeter at the windows and some basic tables to fill in the interior space. Step up to the counter, place your order, find your own table, and they bring your food out to you. There isn't a wait staff per se, but they deliver the meal to your table and bus it after, so it's different from a diner in that sense, even though it feels like one. The menu too, leans Mex-American, with burritos, tacos and the like, but there are lots of burgers gyros and sandwich deals here too. But guess what? The salads are something else. At least the one I had, (the Salmon Salad) which was just damn huge, with a big ol slab of fish on top, lots of eggs, tons of veggies and a big cup of dressing on the side. It was amazingly good, fresh food and I couldn't even finish the thing, so I had to box it up to go. Not only that, but I thought the price was more than reasonable; I'm sure it'd be 30% more at a downtown joint. Old school, low key, and very satisfying, though the atmosphere is a bit sleepy. And there is no alcohol served here either. Just saying, if you're looking for a high energy, sleek place, this is not it. Just good solid food.

I brought my family here to have breakfast. The food was decent. I was surprised by the fact that you order and tip at the counter before you really receive any service. The booths are extremely small we were 5 and barely fit. It was Saturday morning and the place was packed.

Johns is always consistent and solid. We frequently come here for breakfast or lunch and leave never disappointed! Favorites of mine are the breakfast quesadillas with ham, breakfast burrito and if lunching it, the classic burger with cheese combo. My wife loves their omelettes. The place gets busy deservingly so. The staff there are loyal and hardworking yet always more than pleasant! Also they play the best music which adds a great vibe.

John!!!! Yes please this was super good. I was surprised since we were really just stopping for a quick bite, but the menu here was extensive and the prices were also reasonable. I got the Thursday special of croissant sandwich and opted for a side salad instead of fries. I was super pleased with my roadtrip stop here. Definitely hit the spot to hop back on the road. We also ordered the turkey bacon melt which came with oooozy cheese.

Always good! Friendly staff. Great cooks. All good! Never a bad meal! No problem with substituting. They'll accommodate most anything.

I forced myself to try a new breakfast place rather than one of my 5 PS favorites. Less PS, more all American diner, with great views and outdoor seating, you order at the counter and then choose a booth or table. Open every except Monday from 8 am to 9 pm. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, each posted on a separate menu board over the grill. My cheese omelet appeared at my table, thanks to my number, flagging the friendly server to my location. All condiments and jams are already at your table. My omelet, and most importantly, the hashbrowns, were perfectly prepared and served hot. The sourdough bread toast was okay. I would eat here again.

This restaurant brings me so much home town nostalgia. Menu is huge, portions are amazing. Parking is free, although lot is not huge, it wasn't an issue. Order at the counter & find a seat - food comes out super quick. I'll definitely bring friends when they come visit for a diner vibe experience. All the staff were super nice too!

Great diner type restaurant to go to if you are visiting or local. The variety is great, and based on what I've had, the food is great. Breakfast is served all day and there are daily Lunch and Dinner specials. Service is great... We didn't wait too long to get served once we ordered our food. Burgers are a go-to, but all options are good.

This place was incredible! It was so good we had dinner on a Saturday night close to closing and returned the next day for breakfast. Parking was easily accessible both street and lot. Staff is great, welcoming,quick, and helpful. Both times the flow of people was consistent but not overly packed or busy. The country fried steak had me doing my happy dance wiggle in my chair. We are from out of town so this place will definitely be on our to go list for our future visits as well. Prices were very decent, I truly recommend.

I didn't get why it was super crowded at 1pm on a weekday. But what I don't understand is why it was hard for the owner or manager running it today (date of this review) couldn't write a sign stating their computer system was down CASH ONLY & put it on the entrance or wherever to be visible for all patrons. They could've also said that to everyone who was about to start their order, but instead berated my husband and others, when they gave them their credit card to pay. I also observed that the people clearing up plates from empty tables were not cleaning or wiping them down as I waited. That tells me we dodged a bullet & stomach flu not eating here. It was too crowded & not enough space to eat at.

I love these Greek burger places. They always make the best burgers. The hamburgers are awesome; the pastrami is awesome; the steak sandwiches and onion rings are delicious. And you can't beat the price. It's hard to find good food this affordable these days.

Always good food and consistent service, have been coming here for years, great atmosphere also. The one thing I personally enjoy is the bacon grilled cheese!

Located in the uptown design district of Palm Springs, this is a diner that serves up just about anything you could want in a diner. You order at counter and they bring you the food at table. The staff is always nice, the restaurant is always clean, and the food is always good. It's nice because some of the other restaurants are pretty fancy here and a little pricey, but John's is reasonably priced. Overall it's one of my favorite's in the area because of all of the above and a nice, quiet and chill vibe. Their homemade zucchini appetizers are awesome, most everything is delicious and impressive, including this taco salad. I don't eat meat and they are accommodating and made mine with beans for protein. It was so beautiful here's a pic of it. Try John's for a good deal and great menu and food!

Wife and I spent several days at our Daughter's condo about a block from John's. This became our go to place for breakfast, and a couple of times dinner. Although you order at the counter, then the food is delivered to your table by the most friendly servers, food was very good and priced reasonably. Local Police eat there, so must be good, right?

Excellent restaurant located right on the main drag. Cobb Salad had great variety on top. Dressing was tasty. Breakfast portions were generous and coffee was rich and dark. Service was spot on. Quick and efficient. Very popular place. Prices cannot be beat.

Ok burger, decent fries, stale diet coke..... I had the regular burger combo with fries. The burger was ok, tiny patty, bread swallowed the meat. The lettuce was wilted. The fries were decent, could have been cooked a little longer to make the fries crispy (some fries were a little under cooked). The diet coke tasted like they didn't clean out their soda machine regularly. The service was friendly and fast. I'm adding a star to review because of that. The ambiance at the restaurant was ok. Was supposed to look like a fifties diner, but not pulling it off. It could use a redesign.

11/10 restaurant, food was incredible, fast, and well made. Not just food, but the service was also outstanding, everyone working was super kind and very helpful. And it was the cleanest and sweetest diner I've ever been in. Easily one of them best diners I've ever been to and when I can, WILL be visiting again.

John's Restaurant is a super casual restaurant with cafeteria style dining. You pay at the counter and then go find a table. They bring the food to you. I picked it because it had many patrons, at least it looked popular from the outside . So we get inside and ordered two salads. The Greek chicken salad and the Chinese chicken salad were delivered quickly. The salads seemed fine and the chicken had good flavor. The mixed lettuce in the Greek salad had started to turn and I had to pick out many pieces of lettuce that had gone bad. It was wilty and lost its crispness. I told the staff about it and they went into the kitchen to fix it. Just like at home, some bagged mixed greens go bad quickly. Besides the bad lettuce, the flavor of the dressing and the chicken were really good and the cucumbers and tomatoes were great. So it was just an unfortunate situation.

Tasty food here, lots of seating, friendly staff, parking lot, casual. We stopped in here during the Veterans 11/11 parade! The streets were jammed with cars- traffic snarl-ups and a great festive mode in the city. The huge menu is on the wall, breakfast, salads and many kinds of burgers, basically. Order, take your number. sit down, a friendly runner brings your food to you. I Loved my trip tip salad- fantastic! Large portion of fresh greens, some beans, tiny tortilla strips, cheese, tomatoes, fantastic dressing. Burgers are good here, many kinds.

This is a favorite spot for us whenever we visit Palm Springs! Whether you're looking for good quality comfort food, a quick casual bite, or a large greasy breakfast plate to soak up last night's booze, John's has got you covered! The staff is friendly, they have a diverse menu to choose from, and the quality of the food is excellent. We will be back!

Better than Denny's that's for sure!! Friendly staff open cooking area so you can watch big menu with plenty to choose from. Fresh, coffee O can go on and on.

I'm a local --- I've lived in Palm Springs for 10 years. This is by far is my favorite place to eat in Palm Springs. The food quality is great, prices are affordable and staff is always friendly.

Love this diner. Had the burger and fries which was delicious. It was very busy when we got there but our order was taken and food came out shortly after. If looking for a diner, this is a must try. And I appreciate the sauce options at every table.

Very American diner fare. Lots of burgers and chicken. Reasonable cost. You order at the counter and it's all freshly made, a short-order cook ready to sling hash (browns). Not cheap, not expensive. I had a cheese omelet and it was tasty and the side-order options are good. They aim to please, and the service was friendly and fast. They can get crowded, a sign of local popularity. Not fru-fru or ostentatious. Just a good diner on the main downtown drag of Palm Springs.

We always order the breakfast sandwiches here and they are the best !!!! However I decided to try there California omelette yesterday and it was TERRIBLE!! The omelette was cold and let me say there were only 3 people in the restaurant. The inside cheese was not melted and it had few mushrooms and tiny pieces of cold bacon . My toast was even cold and the butter would not melt. I typically don't complain but I hope they read this and make some changes. Nice staff / clean place but room for improvement on the omelettes. They also did apologize and gave me back my money.

Food good as always service is always fast, ambiance is friendly and people are nice. You should try it one day
