I'm tired of getting this food, hot out the grease wings and crab stick and it melts and sticks to foam because they are too cheap to use deli sheets before they put hot in ass food that will melt container. Damn near melted through the container, stop being so cheap and line foam containers with paper deli sheets. If they weren't closed I would've taken it back. How are they serv-safe certified! And difference in the taste if the wings. Saturday 10-26-2024 5:45pm.

I was excited to try this place and soon became a disappointment. Not worth the price of food they charge. Seafood not fresh Shrimps were bad Fish ok noting to brag about French fries were undercooked Macaroni salad taste horrible

I'll start by saying I won't be coming back to this restaurant, food is not worth the consistent bad service. Today I came in and ordered 3 wings & fries. Another customer came in after me & ordered 3 wings & fries as well. The customer was rude! Rushed them, told them she called her ride and had to go quick, kept interrupting asking if her food was done (asked for well done wings & it was less than 10 mins) a cook said you want the wings fried hard & she said that's what well done means right?. After several rude comments they gave the lady my food & told me to wait! Even after one of the waitresses said it wasn't hers. A few mins before this the whole staff was having an argument with a lady that claimed one of the cashier's should be fired ( this lady was honestly rude). I've had several experiences like this at this restaurant.Shoutout to the one waitress that apologized for the bad service! She was the only one there with couth & common sense.

The seafood is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. They have a great selection of food to choose from. There homemade juices and teas are absolutely delicious! I've been going there for years

Yelp
I took someone here to try the seafood. I couldn't resist sharing to the experience. First impressions are lasting. Crowds don't = quality. Pro's: a lot of people come. The service was fast. Cons: a lot of people come. It's a bit crowded for my liking & the cherry on the top was a pet cat walking around. I have no problem with pets I'm just not a fan of them in food establishments but it didn't seem to bother the patrons. So there you go. The person I took was pleased with the food. I guess that's what mattered.

Yelp
The best I mean the best breaded seafood & wings in Philly! They even have breaded chicken gizzards. If u haven't had breaded gizzards try them from John's. Thank me later. They also have steamed seafood platters as well. But the breaded wings & gizzards are my favorite. Every thing taste nice & fresh. U put your own condiments on. They sell desserts also. The lemon cake is pretty good. Homemade ice tea and other juice. This place is a gem in the hood. I always call my order in ahead of time. Because it's metered parking. The owners are professional and have great customer service skills. The only con is that they only accept cash. ATM is inside the restaurant but the fees are inconvenient. I've being coming here for a few years. 5 stars indeed..

Yelp
Haven't been to John's since the 90's. Of course the food is different now. The food was good. I wanted a classic fish hoagie and it was everything I thought it would be. That is my go to when I want those nostalgic classics. I think the food is somewhat reasonably priced for the current times. The staff was polite and courteous and friendly. It's a take out spot, it's nothing fancy but there is good food.

Yelp
I wanted some seafood and decided to give this old favorite another shoot since it's under new management long story short it has gone downhill more the platters seem to be getting smaller, the prices have increased, and the fish is mostly breading I was hoping johns would improve long after the old team had left but instead it has steadily declined your better off going to Carmen's to get seafood even though they suck as well.

Yelp
This is a good spot for Seafood it's not Bad at all for to be in North Philly.it was better than a lot of expensive place in Philadelphia.I Like That it appears To be very clean And The Fish Grease Doesn't Appear To Be Old Cooking Grease...

Yelp
I rarely review a fast food place, unless it is absolutely needed. John's Seafood, needs some recognition. Run by an old Korean couple, John's Seafood offers breaded filets of fish from tilapia to trout, which all look fresh and displayed daily. They also have breaded fish cakes, crab sticks, chicken wings, scallops, shrimps, and cheesesteaks/cheeseburgers. Everything is reasonably priced and even runs on the cheap side; which is a great thing for my student budget! Anyways, I always get the chicken wings here. I usually like my wings naked, but John's has the breaded kind. Let me tell you though, these are delicious! The wings are not cut, and served the whole, but are equally as crispy. The breading keeps the juices inside, making the meat of the wings so tender and moist. I am not sure what kind of oil they use, but the infused fish oil taste is amazing. All in all, a great chicken wing and one of the better ones I've had. The small place is pretty popular among the people who live around the area; I live about three doors down. I will always return, like I have been, at least weekly.

Yelp
After teasing me with its barred doors and windows for many months, I'm glad to see that John's Seafood has finally opened back up! Wonderful little place to grab a quick bite to eat for takeout around Broad and Girard. They've got an expansive selection of freshly fried, breaded seafood platters, such as fish, scallops, shrimp, and all for great prices. What seems to be really popular is the fried chicken wings. Note that they fry the chicken and seafood in the same fryer, so your fish might taste like chicken and vice versa. Oh yeah, the platter combo sizes are very generous! I enjoy the cheesesteak hoagie, too. The Korean couple who runs the place will attentively listen to your order, but try to be direct because their English isn't that great. They were really good about replacing the sandwich we asked for no mayo on. Crowds tend to form, so be patient or come early!

Yelp
The food is actually pretty good and the store could use a little recognition.

Yelp
i stopped by this place today based solely on yelp reviews. i found the service to be very fast and friendly but the food was just okay. its more or less the typical "round the way" type of seafood spot that can be found in most philly neighborhoods. they offer a limited selection of breaded fish, shell fish, fries, chicken wings, etc. nothing really stands out though. you can get comparable food from most any other similar establishment in the area. but again, very fast and friendly service. if youre in the area and just happen to be driving by then sure, grab a bite but dont go out of your way.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time when John and his wife were running the restaurant. It looks like the restaurant has been sold and has new owners. Unfortunately, the food leaves much to be desired. I ordered a cheesesteak and while edible, I would never order one again. it seems like they're now using "steak umm's" or some other crap for their meat. I've had better cheesesteaks from the corner bodegas and they cost about $3 less. Fish and shrimp tasted ok, but nothing that I'd be willing to travel out of my way for.

Yelp
Buyer beware! Oh man, this place has dropped off SO much. John and his wife are no longer there. The lady who is there now, speaks almost no English. She made mistakes on my order and when I paid for it with a twenty dollar bill, she brought back change as if I had given her a ten. Plus, I left without my side salads and sodas. Seriously? Paid for it but didn't get it. I had to call them and they said they'd hold it for me or give it to me the next time I was there. They need someone much more competent b/c she isn't. Another time, (weeks later) I called an order in and the older man took it. I asked for 3 chicken wing platters and I only got 2. Plus I asked for double fries (double fries so they won't forget the side salads - see above) and he gave me macaroni salad instead. I had to wait for the wings for my "extra" platter, THEN I had to wait for the double fries! I waited almost 30 minutes for my food. To make matters worse, I got a parking ticket because my meter expired. The PPA is something else over there but that's another story. 10 minutes driving there and 10 minutes back plus 30 minutes for my full order, my coworkers and I had less than ten minutes to eat. What a bad experience. Oh yeah, because they didn't give me my salads and sodas from the previous time I was there, I reminded them and they still forgot to give it to me. I walked to my car then had to turn back and remind them AGAIN! Don't get me wrong. The food is still good and cheap. I might give them one more chance. BUT then again, I might not. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Please come back Mr. and Mrs. John! The Good: Cleaner than ever. Food still tastes good like before, when they get your order right and it's still hot. Mr. & Mrs. John's nephew still works there and really cares about his aunt and uncle's legacy. Chicken, french fries and fish have their own separate fryers (I believe Jade V. is incorrect here). Peach Soda! Good selection of drinks. Fresh. Security cameras. They now have WHEAT bread! The Bad: Messing up the orders. Messing up the money/change. Missing salad. Missing soda. Stingy with the napkins and forks. No Coca Cola products. Snapple cooler/refrigerator, but no Snapple. Question mark question mark. What gives? Closed on Sundays. Closes early, 7pm or 8pm. Darn late night cravings. Cash only. No Home-Made. The UGLY: Please find someone who understands what I am ordering, PLEASE? Phila. Parking Authority waits in hiding to give tickets to customers. Amazing that people still drive to John's. Only 4 chairs for people waiting for their food. Really? I had to stand for 30 minutes! Are they seriously expecting to get people in and out of there that quickly? Get more chairs in there! We need to sit, especially if messing up the orders is a "recurring theme". Lady smiles and giggles a lot. Should be a good thing, right. It isn't. Seems forced and insincere. But then again, maybe I'm biased because she tried to steal my money and didn't give me what I paid for (twice!!).

Yelp
This place has really good food when you don't have time to cook at home so I can't complain!

Yelp
Can't wait until John's open back up. Rumor is that is wife has been sick. If so, hope she hurry up and get better because my mouth has been watering for so chicken and fish. It's the best. If you having tried it, you should. Easy on your pockets and plenty to eat. Only thing now is they need to start accepting credit/debit cards.
