Our room was really small and we had no remote control to utilize the TV but the bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. Listening to vinyls was really cool and I absolutely loved getting to go on the roof top. Parking was $30 if we didn't use VIP. Made unforgettable memories getting to walk around to pop up bars and such.

This was a very nice hotel and easy for a quick stay in Pittsburgh. The room was smaller than expected but had all the basic amenities, and the bed was especially comfortable. I don't know Pittsburgh at all, but the location is pretty central downtown, though it seems Downtown Pittsburgh is fairly empty and depressed these days. Giving 4 stars instead of 5, because it wasn't an extraordinary or luxurious experience, but it was perfectly fitting and what you'd expect for what it is.

We reserved a room online through the app for a Saturday night in January for a day trip to Pittsburgh which turned into a weekend because of snow. We were able to add an extra day without having to change rooms. The room was small but clean. They have room sizes online and it said compact so this was not a surprise to us. I have stayed in places with tiny bathrooms and while the rest of the room was small, the bathroom was normal sized. It was a walk-in shower, no tub - which was fine with us. The bed was a bit uncomfortable for me, but I just have a different preference on firmness. The location was good for us. We parked in a parking garage around the corner but not too far away. We got a bite to eat and drinks at the on-site bar. The bartender was personable - I don’t remember her name. Staff we interacted with were all professional and polite. We had an overall good experience.

I booked my stay on the Hilton app. I was really excited to stay at this hotel. I was visiting Pittsburgh for the first time for a work training. The style and aesthetic online looked really pretty. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful . My room was small, but good size for one person. Also was clean and comfortable. The issues for me was it seemed to be something over promised and under delivered. It was the feeling of walking into an empty movie set. It looks pretty but there was no energy or people. Like, it was dead. The restaurant hardly had any customers in 2 days I was there. After eating there, I understood why. The food was awful. Over priced and awful. ($19 hamburger) The kitchen was very unorganized and poor communication. I asked for 3 different things on the menu that were out of stock. I had melted soupy ice cream on my dessert because “ someone left the freezer door open.” The waitress was nice and discounted the dessert. Also little things, like the menu was dirty, my scanning menu my room was old and crumbled. The lack of attention to details is hard to miss here. The staff were friendly and helpful to their best abilities. This hotel needs some systems and consistency. Such a beautiful hotel to be so disorganized.

Number and Llyod were great. They assisted with our needs and very friendly. The rooms were a bit smaller than expected. The housekeeping service could be a bit more responsive. They could do a little better of cleaning the shower. The aesthetic were nice and the bar/restaurant was nice and had a great feel to it.

Google
3 stars being generous, probably 2 stars but location is good and rooms were clean (enough). Didn't check reviews before booking, so lesson learned. Booked through Hilton App and was expecting "premier" downtown hotel experience and got a shoddy outdated hotel. Check in staff was pleasant but was told our room was not ready despite checking in at 4PM. Room was small and appears to be an old poorly renovated/appointed dormitory. Soap dispenser fell off wall, mirror was broken, faucet leaking, just way too noisy. Thermostat appears to not function as room was either too cold or too hot. There is no way this is a 4 star hotel. Some Hampton Inns I've stayed in are much nicer. Also, 2 SLOW elevators servicing 10 stories isn't adequate and had to get in line with literally 4 or 5 cleaning carts in the morning to get a ride back upstairs after breakfast. Cleaning crew carts coming in the front door? What was that all about? Weird and inconvenient, to say the least

Google
Very well appointed downtown hotel with all typical amenities of a large brand property. Nice architecture. Centrally located. Friendly staff. You would be disappointed here although valet parking isn’t required. Several Parking lots adjacent to property at significantly reduced rates.

Where do I begin? Lobby is nice, staff was pleasant upon checking in and when we asked for extra towels. Past that, nothing good, I feel taken advantage of for $600 per night. Room was the size of a closet. Lacked personality and felt like we rented a closet. I have 25 ft travel trailer that seems like a mansion when compared to this hotel. Bed was decent, room is lacking power outlets. Bathroom was tiny and inefficient. Door closes behind you that was annoying in such a small room. Had to step over toilet to get in/out of shower. Room was noisy and temperature was hot. Shower was tiny and was bumping walls, hardly hot enough to make steam on full blast. I could go on but feel this is sufficient. Was worth $100-$140 per night and I still would give it only 2 stars. I forgot to mention the 3 o’clock am dump truck dumping gravel for an hour 20 feet away from our bed.

Yelp
We had our wedding block at the Joinery in connection with the reception at the Rivers Club next door in Oxford Centre. Our guests loved their experiences there. The wedding party reserved the mezzanine for the after party and that went really well, too. The staff was very helpful throughout the process. We appreciated the relationship they have with the Rivers Club.

Yelp
The staff of course were absolutely wonderful, so helpful with every request, they really did make our stay. The parking there is valet onsite it's $41, and there is self park across the street, $30/day. The hotel is well maintained, really old, and has those really nice touches. If your into history this is a really good place to stay. The view is stunning. They only have a gym on site in terms of amenities. But they do have onsite bar/coffee area and restaurant. I ordered the over night steel cut oats, very disappointed becuase it was regular oatmeal not steel cut. And super sweet... not for the health conscious. The coffee is ok. But I really enjoyed the selections of snacks at the lobby. I just wanted to thank the staff for all of their guidance, and kindness while we stayed with the joinery.

Nicole K.

Yelp
For the amount of money spent, we basically stayed in a room that was a closet. It was horribly small and 2 adults could barely move around in the room. Not only that, don't go to the restaurant. The servers were completely unprofessional and were wearing sweatpants/sweatshirts even though this claimed to be a "nice" restaurant. We come to Pittsburgh often and always stay at Hilton hotels, but this was a total waste of money. We won't be coming back

Yelp
This was our third time here. It's a great location. Not hard to navigate too and valets are nice. Or you can park for 1/2 as much right next door. This time the lobby bar was open and really liked the bartenders and convenience. Might be the cheapest hotel bar I have drank at in years. The front desk is usually pretty good. Though no one answered the phone when I tried to request a late check out. They did answer my text. Our rooms have always been clean and no complaints on amenities or noise. They have a restaurant and a basement gym. The rooftop offers a nice view of the river. Would definitely stay again.

Yelp
The Joinery is offering a Cheers-to-Beer Sip Tour & Stay Package which includes a hangover kit, Pittsburgh Brewery Guide, and a custom Joinery brewery trail with 10 spots located 10 minutes from the hotel. The newly renovated hotel offers some local beers for purchase from a small cart at the front desk that you can take up and enjoy on the scenic terrace or in your he cozy lobby while you listen to a vinyl or read a book from their library. It's a great little staycation and pretty centrally located. There are bikes available in the lobby for guests as well.

Suzan H.

Yelp
Stayed at the Joinery to get away from everything and feel like we were on a mini vacation. The Joinery was a great place for this. The hotel had a nice buzz with lots of amenities. You can grab a bike and ride around town, the restaurant attached is great and serves throughout the day. They have a great little lounge area that felt like a cozy living room, with books, turntables, and comfortable furnishings. We sat around there with friends and just chatted awhile. It would have been great if the lobby bar was open, but we were able to enjoy sometime at the rooftop lounge instead. Not your typical view of the city-so it was fun pointing things out. The rooms were comfortable and the toiletries were terrific. LOVED the smell and they all worked well. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you would need. The Joinery fit the bill perfectly for what we were looking for.

Yelp
This is the second Hilton Curio experience wherein we've been disappointed. Reserved a King room for the night at ~ $300. Arrived with our luggage to find that the room on our floor could only be accessed off the elevator by lugging our belongings up and down stair steps. interestingly, even the receptionist was surprised to learn about steps. The king room was very small, however much of the furniture was sized for it, save the oversized bed platform that took up the little available floor space. It was a feat not to get bruised and battered maneuvering around the area! The room lighting was nearly as non-existent as plugs for electronic devices. The standing lamp did not work, so we were one down there. We were on the 4th floor, away from the elevator so at least is was quiet in the hallway, however the sirens and street noises made the extra pillows provided necessary for a good night's sleep. This place was however clean. The coffee maker worked, and the tiny refrigerator did too. The bathroom plumbing and shower worked well ( temp and water pressure). That said, at these prices i will likely seek another hotel on our next trip.

Yelp
I love staying here. The staff is great, the views are great and the rooftop terrace is great too. They fact that they do not have a bar or restaurant anymore is not great. I really enjoy this place and I always meet cool people when staying here plus the fact that it's in the mix of everything downtown and walking distance to almost everything is a plus too. The beds are comfy and the rooms are nice and clean. The bathroom is spacious and has a nice sized shower, but the book/nook area is my favorite part about this hotel. Also, they do have a small drink cart by the front desk you can order some drinks and beer from, which is nice to take to the rooftop terrace when the weather is nice. This will always be one of my go to places to stay when I am in town because of where it's located and the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the rooms, but you do need to get that bar and restaurant back up and running and the cafe as well for the prices you charge. Price has to be justified by amenities. The end!

Yelp
Hands down the best hotel I've stayed at in years! A wonderful staff with beautiful lobby and the foooood! Loved it! The best! -Stephen Kramer Glickman aka Gustavo from Big Time Rush

Yelp
Another stay during a Steelers game because the Joinery is in a good location, tho the stadiums are across the river. It's close to Market Square where the Holiday Village was being held--a Bavarian Village of items for sale, ice skating and Santa. The hotel is fun. It has a game room, books to borrow, and vinyl records to listen to. For breakfast and snacks you ask at the counter. There is a charge. Hilton Honor members get $15 a day per person to purchase these items and drinks. Upstairs is a event's area for a party or reunion, etc. Hallways are narrow, and there are two steps on some hallways. Rooms are clean. Bathrooms are big. We always ask for a corner room to get two windows, and a little more space. There is valet parking, tho the driveway is tight and cars are often lined up.

Yelp
Stayed here for my sister's wedding weekend. She went to check in and there were people in her penthouse sweet and she had to force them to kick the people out of her room she's had booked for over a year. The only thing they did was give her a bottle of water for her inconvenience. I'm just upset because being from Pittsburgh, previously working in the hotel industry.. I can't believe there wasn't Champaign, a note, candies in her room, free valet parking, nothing to make her big weekend rememberable from the home besides a bad check in experience . The rooms were ok, nothing special for the price. The roof top terrace is average and there's definitely better like the Kimpton (where they also offer a free cocktail hour every night for guests) I was also upset because I asked for a late check out and they said they didn't, "have any availability", which surprised me. They also didn't have makeup wipes and the lotion pump in the room did not work. I've stayed at a lot of hotels and have never heard of this. The really only good thing about this hotel was it being conveniently located to the wedding venue.

Yelp
great boutique hotel dead center Pittsburg. PROS: location. comfy beds/linen, huge corner room (302) with lots of windows/natural light, mini fridge, luggage stand, in room coffee. close to self-parking garage, but also offers valet. neat rooftop that has high top and lounge seating that has views of the city lights at night. Unique lobby and mezzanine that allows you to listen to albums, chat with friends, and just hang out. Check in was easy, staff was friendly and helpful Awesome discount for military. $5/hr Bike rental in lobby I didnt use, but looked into the fitness center that seemed decent. Felt safe: must use room key to use the elevator, and enter the lobby afterhours CONS: there's no bar and no restaurant. you can purchase small 'Two serving pre-mixed drink adult beverages', and chips and pretzels at the front desk. Kinda Pricey, if no military discount, for it not to have many amenities...no comp breakfast, no free parking ($25/day in and out) They double charged me for valet - but fixed it after i got home. they also charged me for a muffin - upon check in i was told a continental breakfast was complimentary. so i grabbed a muffin walking out the door. learned i was charged for it later. i was NOT refunded when i got home, but didnt feel like fussing about $2. i'd check out the self parkng garage next door to see if the valet is worth it. for those complaining about the price, i've found even pricier hotels with LESS amenities...they are designed to financially be interesting to a certain clientele. not for 'bargain hunters'. you can always check out amentities before you choose to stay, and no one forces you to "get less than" what you are used to. i was traveling with others, who had already booked here, but had i not gotten a decent military rate, i might have looked elsewhere.

Yelp
It's a sort of charming hotel that we wanted to like more but there were several smallish problems that added up. Our room was quite small and it had a wardrobe/armoire that was WAY too big, leaving very little room to move around. The bed had a metal bracket sticking out that I bashed my foot on twice. Cheap thin towels. But it was clean and location is good. Not a particularly bad place, but not one I'll stay in again.

Tad D.

Yelp
The place was clean but that's about all it has going for it. They lost my reservation so I had to wait at 1am for 30 minutes. The HVAC was noisy and nobody could do anythign about it. The smoke alarm chirped intermittently. The desk was asked to fix it and did nothing. Im going to pass on this place next time.

Leah M.

Yelp
We were looking forward to our stay but were less than impressed. Our room was so small there was no where to put a suitcase and still walk to the bathroom. We had booked a king and got a queen bed. Our view was of a brick wall 4 feet away. Very small and inconvenient bathroom and shower. No counter space for toiletries. We went to the rooftop patio to see if we could take in the view we weren't getting from our room, there was garbage mounded all around the can. Front desk staff was very unhelpful and unfriendly. A desk clerk named Paris was very friendly to certain ethnicities, but not friendly to those different from her. Saturday evening we found a young woman in the elevator with visible trauma to her face with blood and vomit on her face and clothing. No one in the lobby seemed concerned, I had to encourage the front desk staff to call 911. They had no idea how to manage an emergency. It definitely made us concerned for our safety.

Parker P.

Yelp
The hotel was renovated a couple years ago. The design is unique and nice, the room is fine. But ultimately the staff is what makes this place. Eve at the desk, in particular. She was simply the most warm, friendly, and helpful hotel clerk I have ever encountered in all my travels. Can't forget Calvin the valet. We chopped it up late night, he watched out for my wife outside smoking in the dark, and was overall a warm and helpful presence in the lobby and beyond. The price is right, and the people are great. We will be back!

Samantha F.

Yelp
Absolutely DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I'm from Pittsburgh, but live in California now and brought my boyfriend to see the city. From google it seemed this would be an nyc type vibe of a place, small rooms seemed to be the only con. After a long travel day we checked in to a dirty used room. Went down to ask for a new room and they didn't even care. In fact they laughed!!! 2 teenagers working the front desk and when I asked to see a manager they said she doesn't work there in the evenings and gave me her phone number. The second room they gave us was a wheelchair accessible room that was filthy. Shower was disgusting, carpet was sticky, and the bed skirt was ripping off the bed with stains all over it. I've never been so disgusted. We ended up having to demand a refund from experian, checked in at the even hotel down the street for one night until Kimpton Monaco could get us in the following day. This place is nothing like the pictures even the lobby is a joke.

Tim G.

Yelp
We spent a weekend at the Joinery and hoped to walk around town and visit the local market areas but it rained all weekend. So we spent more time in the hotel than expected. The restaurant was excellent, food, wine and service was awesome. Our room was small but given the renovation we expected that. The history of the building is very interesting. We also spent time at the bar and Jessica was helpful, warm and friendly. We will definitely be back for another weekend sometime soon.

J R.

Yelp
Hotel is great and staff is friendly. One of the elevators doesn't work which puts a huge stain on usage during the morning rush. The valet left our vehicle unlocked and our vehicle was tossed for perceived valuables. They stole trivial items that have no resale value but it is frustrating to not have your vehicle safety considered by valet. Recommend parking your car yourself to insure it is locked.

Yelp
I recently had my wedding in downtown Pittsburgh and used The Joinery Hotel to reserve our wedding block for our guests. Since many of my guests were in from out of town, I knew I would need a large number of rooms for that weekend, but the sales department only gave me 15, leading to calls from guests telling me that the block was full and that I had to call to add more. They had said to me that once the block was full they would be reaching out, not the other way around. I had to call over 10 times to add rooms as the hotel refused to give me more than a few rooms at a time. Then, when I showed up I was told that one of our rooms might not be ready for the night before the wedding. This was extremely stressful as that room was to be used as my bridal suite for the morning of the wedding and was the only room big enough to accommodate what I needed that morning. I was told by a very unhelpful and condescending front desk attendant, "There's someone in there now, and it depends on if he leaves whether or not we can get you in there." Then went on to day, "You need to call the sales manager because she makes more than me". The man should have taken the initiative to fix this issue rather than throwing it on me on a very important weekend in anyone's life. Considering I had booked that specific room over a year in advance, I was livid at this comment. Fortunately, they got us in the room on time thanks to their front office manager, Bonnie, who was very apologetic. But it was a highly stressful evening waiting to hear from them, and unnecessary added stress on the weekend of the wedding. Other than that issue and a small/dark room for my husband that looked into the closed-in, brick middle of the hotel, the rest of our stay was okay, and none of our guests had any issues. I really wish I could share photos of his room how small the room was. The location is phenomenal, and the rooftop provides a nice place to hang out and talk with our guests in the evening. It's a nice hotel with (mostly) happy and helpful employees, and the rooms were clean.

Kim G.

Yelp
Overall a poor experience. The customer service here is terrible to the point of being rude. Waited hours for a check-in just because. In addition the maintenance of the room is not good. Clogged sink and a filthy ac/heat room filter that I happened to come upon because I thought it might be a closet . Called housekeeping to change it. Gross! I would not recommend this hotel.

Rory Q.

Yelp
Beautifully designed hotel. Friendly front desk! A lot of valets , if you need that . Checked in early without a problem . Room was spacious, clean and quiet. I stay in around 150 different hotels a year, this was a fair price for the quality( 5/5 for middle of the pack pricing ) . One of the only things I'll recommend in Pittsburgh! Brownie points for the peloton in the gym!

Lynn S.

Yelp
Clean and reasonable! BEST OF THE BURGH! Such a cool vibe! Staff is OUTSTANDING. First time there and will be our new city home!

Tuba B.

Yelp
Ok BOOM. The valet was great. Helped me find a great parking spot. I didn't get to try the restaurant but Ive heard great things. The staff was awesome. Super quick with check in/out. The room eh. The size was fine but the details. Its should be pristine clean and everything should be working. I plan on going back but I hope the details dont get over looked after this

Tim W.

Yelp
Diamond member with Hilton here for a while now. This hotel just ain't it. Although the lobby and restaurants are updated, and I actually had a fire meal at the restaurant, but the service was lacking with the hotel. No towels were provided in my room and called many times to get them, but never received any. Wouldn't come back here, if I'm ever that way again..

Kristen F.

Yelp
Nice hotel but not your typical Hilton. As a Hilton hhonors member, I expect complimentary lobby coffee in a Hilton and a bar or restaurant but you won't find either. This hotel also was somehow unaware of a city race so we were unable to get our car from the valet for more than an hour and a half. I expect a hotel to be aware of road closures and city events. This really screwed up our plans to head home today.

Matt W.

Yelp
So I had a miscommunication when booking my room. I booked at the wrong hotel all together. My group was staying here. Alonzo, star of the evening did everything he could to get me in and at the correct rate. He was amazing. He's pretty much the only reason I'm leaving a review. He is an expert at customer service. Y'all are lucky to have him.

Toby T.

Yelp
Incredibly poorly planned rooms. Our room was miniscule with artistic full length mirror leaning against wall - not attached- a disaster waiting to happen, bed frame wider than mattres exposing tripping hazard in room with about 18 inches between frame and wall, armoire so close to bed you could not open drawers, and finally the young valet retrieving our car did not know how to drive a stick shift. The bed was comfortable and shower was good.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Funky hotel with a rooftop terrace (no bar). We had an ADA accessible room, with low beds and a nice roll in shower. One drawback was that the windows did not all have blackout shades on them. We heard some street noise late night as well. Valet parking was great: friendly attendants.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Our room was really small but the hotel was super nice and the customer service was amazing. Shout out to housekeeping for mailing me my forgotten items I really appreciate you!

Sara V.

Yelp
Parking service is absolutely horrible! Had to wait more than 20 minutes for my car this morning on my way to the airport and he forgot to leave the keys in the car, which forced me to go all the way back to the hotel. Gym equipment is new but totally horrible. The staff working the front desk are incredibly unhelpful.

Melissa G.

Yelp
It was a comfortable place to sleep, but practically no amenities. If you want anything more than a place to sleep go elsewhere.
