This Canadian Mountain Town Has a Boozy Tea Cocktail Trail—the Perfect Après Adventure

"Set in an adorable log cabin amid Bear Street’s shops, this Banff institution has sold small‑batch teas made with organic ingredients from around the globe since 2005. In speaking with owner Jolene Brewster, I learned how the tea cocktail trail grew naturally from the mountain culture; she provides samples and pairing suggestions to local bartenders and champions hand‑made, high‑quality products within Banff’s tight‑knit community." - Lauren Breedlove Lauren Breedlove Lauren Breedlove is a New York-based travel writer, photographer, and content creator who focuses on off-the-beaten-path outdoor adventures. Why This Beloved Summer Destination in the Canadian Rockies Is Worth Visiting All Year Round | Vogue

"Organic, hand-blended teas number around 60 (mostly loose leaf with some sachets) at this adorable cabin-like downtown Banff shop, with two brewed varieties always available for tasting. Founder Jolene Brewster’s family roots in Banff date back to the early 1900s, and as a rodeo queen she proudly displays one of her saddles in the shop. For a sip of Canada, the Maple line offers three teas featuring maple sugar and maple flavors." - Kristine Hansen

Google
Love Jolene’s tea. It’s sooo good, I was finally able to get to the store in Banff after trying it in a few restaurants in Calgary. Tried the earl gray, blueberry rooibos , ginger and camomile . Everything tastes so high quality , and I am obsessed with the packaging and the story behind Jolene’s tea. It is a bit on the pricier side but understandable given the high quality of tea. I hope they stay this way. Will be back for sure when in Banff 🤍 🫖

I'm so glad I discovered Jolene's Tea House on my trip to Banff. Their Yoga Chai is my all-time favourite tea, and their customer service is amazing. I don't bother with other tea brands now. I just stick to the high quality teas from Jolene's. Thank you!

I had an amazing London fog at a couple places around town and they were made with tea from Jolene’s so I had to go check it out and buy some to take home. The creamy earl grey is the best I’ve ever had. No sugar or sweetener needed you just steep it in hot milk of your choice. It’s apparently already mixed with vanilla and just so creamy and delicious. Can’t wait to try all the other teas I took home with me!

Google
Outstanding tea, we had it at the banff gondola restaurant and had to go get our own set for home. Pleased to find out they ship worldwide so will definitely be ordering more online when we run out. The atmosphere was also so organized, an absolute tea dream.

Google
Amazing teahouse for the tea enthusiasts! Found some delicious Oolong from Taiwan and other specialty teas! There’s tea gifts, loose leaf, tea bags and tea to go if you wanted to try some there. The owner is very friendly and so is the staff! Thank you for creating a great place for tea lovers and can’t wait to order tea to ship home!

Very chill, so nice. The lady who helped us was so sweet. They offer so many samples of tea! Also offered to ship products to us if we wanted/needed. Very, very pleased with our homemade mug and candles and chocolates didn’t get any tea on this stop.

Great name too! 😉

Google
Such a beautiful teahouse! I’ve been following this company for a while now on Instagram and finally had the pleasure to visit them during my trip to the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Let me start by saying that the store is beautiful and so tastefully decorated. The service/staff was very nice and helpful (I believe it was a French girl, sorry I didn’t grab the name) - absolutely loved her energetic and enthusiastic attitude! We tried a couple of teas there in the store, took a couple home and will definitely reorder! Great quality and very fresh!

Google
Came here after having the creamy earl Grey at Brazen for the first time! The girl who helped us was very knowledgeable of the teas and helped us decide on which ones to purchase. The boxes were quite big but she assured us it was was easy to dissemble for easier travel!

Yelp
I had Jolene's Tea House saved on my Instagram for months prior to coming to Banff! It was so much fun walking through the store to smell all the different teas. My daughter loved the ability to try some of the different samples, too. The gentleman working the front desk was so kind and helpful. He went out of his way to help my daughter reach tea that she wanted to smell and offered her extra samples when she liked something. I ended up purchasing a tin of wild blueberry rooibos tea and then 6 single packets to bring back for my coworkers. Lovely store - will continue to purchase more tea online to have in our house in the states!

Yelp
Cute little tea shop with free samples, merch, accessories, and a plethora of tea to choose from. Staff is kind and friendly. I was paying in USD, so the price was cheaper than I realized! I got the coconut pouchong and it tastes so delicious and flavorful! I did want another tea but it was of course the most expensive one and I couldn't justify that price. Other than that - Love it!

Yelp
Jolene's is an adorable, quaint tea shop in downtown Banff. Not only is it a small business that makes its own variety of teas, but it's also a great place to buy a gift for a loved one while traveling. I bought a tea variety pack, and so far, it has not disappointed!

Yelp
Lot of specialty teas in store. If you stay at Banff lot of places serve their milky earl grey which has a strong aroma and a bit of milky taste. They ship worldwide too, if you want some taste and memories to bring you back.

Yelp
This is a super cute tea house with some delicious tea. They always have warm samples for you to try and consistently change the flavors around throughout the day as they run out of them so you can try many before you buy. They have a wonderful variety of all kinds of tea to suit any taste and have seasonal items they feature as well. I sampled several teas and honestly loved each one. The gal working inside in the morning when I stopped in while shopping was the nicest lady - she told me about the building being one of the oldest in Banff and about their online system and a few of their in-store mugs for sale by a local Calgary artist. It's easy to get to in the middle of everything on a main street by tons of fun shops and restaurants. It's the only old cabin building on that street so it stands out. I came back later in the afternoon and purchased a few teas to bring home. Plan to be a regular customer of this cute shop from now on!

Yelp
In terms of parking, it's right across from Bear Street parking lot and just up the street from the Bear Street Parkade (parking structure). The former, an open parking lot, has an hourly rate but is also the fastest way to get to Banff Avenue. Specifically, Park Avenue Mall's back entrance (located at the southeast corner of the lot) will let you cut through to the main street. Bear Street Parkade's first floor also has an hourly rate, but the second floor up is completely free. As a result, we mostly came here when we needed to park. The only drawback is that so do most people, so check the counter they have at the entrance because that'll tell you if there are any spaces available. Jolene's Tea House is a teashop selling loose and bagged tea, tea accessories, and even small, locally made products like chocolate. There are caffeinated, non-caffeinated, herb, fruit, and blends (some of which I think they made), and the employees were super knowledgeable and helpful. You could describe what you wanted the tea for, your preferences, and personal health issues, and they would be able to guide you around. They have free samples for a variety of teas in and outside the store. We were there during the summer, so all the teas were the kind that could be drunk cool. If you bought tea from here and would like more, they also ship to the US if you're from there. It's located in this cool little log cabin and was decorated to be very airy inside. There are some nice outdoor chairs on nicer days. We were there in the summer, and the surrounding space was relatively shaded from the sun for most of the day. Overall, it's a great place to stop by if you're interested in teas and/or souvenirs. Especially as they travel well. If you're visiting and from the US, tea is fine to bring back through customs. If you're visiting from somewhere else, you may need to check whether they need to be declared or not as they're sometimes classified as agricultural.

Yelp
The cutest little tea house in Banff town! So glad we got to visit Jolene's during our visit. When you first enter the space, you feel welcomed and homey, like you just want to curl up with a blanket, read, and sip on tea. The tea selection at Jolene's is a true testament to their dedication to quality and variety. All of the teas are well organized and have names that evoke the feeling or setting it's trying to portray. We had a fun time exploring the different teas and loved that we could experience it before making a purchase. We got the Coconut Pouchang and the Black Mate morning. They are both SO good! It is a bit pricier, but we are happy with our purchases. Happy to know they ship worldwide.

Yelp
This is a beautiful tea shop in Banff. The salesperson was very helpful. They have individually packaged teas. I feel the price is expensive ($16 for 25g) for the amount of loose leaf teas in each package making it harder to try more teas. There was a small sampler pack of about 10 teabags for $21. I wish their products were more affordable and they had more variety packs so we can try many of their teas. I also wish they brewed a cup on the spot for you so you can try before you buy. The ambiance though was excellent and they put a lot of effort on their displays.

Yelp
We noticed there are two tea shops in Banff but this is the first one we happened upon. They were offering samples, and we enjoyed them enough to purchase two tins to take home with us. I can't recall the name of the other tea shop but for whatever reason, that one did not seem as inviting. The clerk there did not acknowledge us and was busy moving boxes around. Back to Jolene's. When we ate dinner at a local restaurant, we ordered tea as well and noticed they served Jolene's tea. We have enjoyed their tea back home and recommend this little shop for their unique tea blends.

Yelp
Lovely little tea shop! They were offering two teas to sample outside, which prompted us to stop in. The shop is located in the oldest building in Banff so also interesting historically. There is a wide variety of styles of tea and several more to try inside. Lots of other beautiful gifts as well. Very knowledgeable staff too. Overall a quite pleasant experience and I'm excited to try the teas we purchased!
