I have been wanting to try Jollibee IN FOREVER (and forever meaning YEARS)! I tried to go to this location when we were stationed here the first time in the early 2010s, but they said the fried chicken was going to take 30 minutes. The place was packed! That was my memory. Then we were stationed in Hawaii and again, same experience. They said it would take 30 mins to fry the chicken and the place was packed. I had very young children at the time, so ain't nobody got time for that with screaming toddlers, so I gave up.
Finally, after 10+ years, I returned to Jollibee with Dee, and tested our luck on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm-ish. We had high hopes! Luckily, when we arrived, there were a good number of customers, but no means in the "packed" category.
What we ordered:
- Pineapple drink - would definitely get this again. It kinda reminds me of a agua fresca, but not fresh pineapple juice. Great to wash down all food.
- Chicken sandwich - not my favorite. Chicken was good, but the bun was a bit strange to me. Almost too browned and too perfect. Almost like play food.
- Filipino spaghetti - It reminds me of the spaghetti my mom made growing up. Is this an Asian thing? I thought it was just my mom making it sweet with hot dogs, but I guess not. Jollibee's was even sweeter than my mom's. I know a lot of people love this, so I'm not gonna yuck your yum, but I will respectfully decline. You can have it! More for you!
- one regular fried chicken and one spicy fried chicken - star of the meal! I loved the spicy version the best. Dee told me to pull off the chicken skin, put some rice on it and dip in rice. Really good!
- rice and gravy - I also love the fact that rice is served with the meal, but what Asian meal would be complete without it?! The gravy add a nice sauciness to it. I know it's more starch, but I wished I had some mashed potatoes to add more starch to the meal lol.
S/N LOVE the fact that there is a hand washing station outside of the washrooms! How convenient.
Overall, I'm going to stick to the fried chicken. I definitely want to go back to try a noodle dish that I saw someone eating and eat my way through the rest of the menu!
Enjoy, Friend and never stop exploring!
