This place was recommended by a friend and was amazing! It’s a very small place but the food is out of this world! We wished we could have gone again before we left. It’s a busy place and only a few people working so you have to make sure you’re asking for anything you need but highly recommend. If you save room, definitely have the dessert. We shared the ice cream bread and it delicious.

Google
It’s a small and tight space like most places in Tokyo; we were luckily enough to get seats without any reservations. The food was absolutely brilliant. I can say they were the best yakitori I’ve ever had. It was very hot and steamy in summer, and the tight seat arrangement did not help, but what can I say, the taste is absolutely worth it! Service was nice too, very warm and welcoming.

Google
Nice vibe spot for charcoal grilled skewered meats and veggies. Very friendly staff, and service is quite fast regardless of the crowd. Everything we ordered was tasty. They do require you to order a drink each but there isn’t a wide selection available. You are also required to take off your shoes. Also if you’re seated right at the counter, your clothes will smell like what you ate after :)

Google
Absolutely one of my favourite restaurants anywhere, not just in Tokyo. Amazing skewers, great sake, lovely staff, and a rustic atmosphere have kept me coming back for ten years, every time I’m in town. Well worth the price.

Google
I really love this restaurant because they make the most delicious vegetable rolls wrapped in bacon 🥓. However, what people say about the customer service in other reviews is true—even if you're Japanese. We reserved a table for 9:30 PM, but when we arrived on time, they told us to wait in line because there were supposedly people ahead of us. There were indeed people in line before us, but then what’s the point of making a reservation?! They just left us standing out in the cold ❄️, waiting for the line to move, even though our reserved place was already prepared with our name on it. On top of that, instead of bringing our drinks to the table like they did for other customers, the waitress handed them to us over a tall counter directly from the kitchen, causing my drink to spill. I understand that they’re busy and have a lot of customers, but could they at least make an effort? As for the food, I highly recommend getting the assorted vegetable roll set and then ordering extra of whichever ones you like most from the menu. The regular grilled meat and chicken are tasty, but they don’t compare to the vegetable rolls. Most of the drinks are pretty good, but don’t order the Kiwi 🥝 Sour or the Mikan 🍊 Sour—they’re completely flavorless. It's probably better to order beer 🍺 or Japanese sake, 🍶 of which they have a huge variety. Considering the location, the prices are very reasonable 💴

Google
One of the best meals I had in Japan. The variety of skewers is unbelievable. The price is fantastic for what you get. The staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere is perfect and I will 100% be back. The sake is poured until it’s overflowing into a reservoir they give you to also drink. Celebrate life and eat your heart out here!

Google
Friend booked a reservation here, and it was great! The chicken meatball skewers are amazing, and if you get the egg yolk topping it literally comes with an egg yolk! Between the four of us, we ordered a little bit of everything to try and enjoyed everything. You do have to order one drink per person though, and they do not give water unless asked. Would have loved to have my water refilled, but they are quite busy so they never did. Also, it gets toasty and smoky inside, and you have to take off your shoes. So plan accordingly!

Google
This was one of the best dining experiences in my entire trip. The food and ambience was incredible. I was fortunate enough to be accommodated without a reservation. Book a table if you want a seat, almost every walk in after me was denied. They are also very generous with the plum wine! Thank you for this experience on my last night in Japan❤️

Yelp
Worth the wait. Make reservations or put your name on the list and walk around. The soup dumplings, chicken neck, chicken thigh, sirloin and supreme loin were so good. The 8 skewer plate was a great idea. Dessert was unique.

Yelp
The ambiance is great, however the service was subpar. We had to place our order multiple times because our waiter kept forgetting our food order. Moreover, he kept taking the wrong meals to the wrong people, so multiple people were complaining. The food is okay overall, but nothing to rave about. We were surprised by the super high reviews. We wanted to like this place but the service really left a bad taste in our mouth. Like I said; the food was okay, but there are plenty of other local izakayas that will give you better service and better tasting food. Maybe it was an off day, but that was our experience.

Yelp
Love the quality of the skewers! Ambiance was awesome. Just a heads up no kids allowed.

Yelp
The best izakaya I've been to in Tokyo. Cramped, smoky, hot, but friendly staff and the best grilled meats and veggies over traditional charcoal ever. In an old wooden building open to the street, it exudes Showa Japan restaurant style. My favorite there, been many times, was the wagyu and tsukune. And they have a new skewer, pork wrapped cabbage. Fantastic. Also important to have are the pork wrapped quail eggs and pork wrapped ebi. Pro tip, one can no longer just walk in, reservations are almost always required. Use your hotel concierge to get the best chance at getting seats, and ask for the counter. It will be the hot and smoky, but worth the view and interaction with the friendly staff.

Yelp
Jomon is a delicious yakitori spot that's become a destination for foodie tourists. However, it is a bit difficult to get seats as it seems you need a reservation.. But it's also not easy to make a reservation if you don't speak Japanese. Quite the catch 22. So what we did was show up as soon as they opened! They're empty at that time and were willing to seat our party of 6 as they got their day started. Everything was delicious! Unfortunately most of their staff did not speak/understand English, but we got by just fine.

Yelp
A perfect place for dinner/late-dinner. The environment is not loud and very comfortable, and the meat is quite good. Pork is sluggish, chicken is juicy. Price is not so high, we ordered 2 Set meals, recommended by chief. Totally JPY2500¥ for each person on average. The service is passionate! Highly recommend it!

Yelp
Best yakitori I've ever had. Make sure to make reservations as it fills up. Don't forget to take shoes off at the door.

Yelp
From the moment you step into Jomon Roppongi, you're transported into a world where traditional yakitori artistry meets modern culinary flair. This hidden gem, nestled in the vibrant heart of Roppongi, has become a pilgrimage site for food enthusiasts from around the globe, and with good reason. Navigating the reservation process can be tricky if you're not fluent in Japanese, presenting a bit of a catch-22 for international visitors. But here's a tip: arrive right at opening time. We did just that and were pleasantly surprised to find seats readily available. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and sophisticated, making it an ideal spot for both casual and special occasions. Each skewer is a testament to the chef's mastery, with succulent chicken and perfectly seasoned pork that simply melt in your mouth. The pricing is a pleasant surprise, offering great value for top-notch quality. Our meal, comprising of expertly recommended set menus, came to an average of JPY 2500 per person - a steal for such an exquisite dining experience. My group ordered a la carte and ended up spending 5000 JPY, but we do eat more than the average person. For those looking to elevate their meal, I highly recommend exploring their diverse Shochu selection. Pairing different meats with a Shochu highball was a delightful journey for the palate. One heads-up for potential visitors: reservations are highly sought after, so plan ahead. We took a chance by arriving early in the evening and were lucky to be accommodated for a quick, yet unforgettable, dining experience. In summary, Jomon Roppongi is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure that leaves you yearning for more. Whether you're a yakitori aficionado or a newcomer to Japanese cuisine, this spot is a must-visit. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

Yelp
Great food, drinks and vibes! Try different Shochus (I recommend tryign them as highball), pick as many different meat skewers as you can, and add a nice ramen to it. Definitely will go back.

Yelp
This a great classic yakitori stand. The service is excellent and the yakitori is great. I also has the look of a classic old Japanese restaurant. I come here everytime I go to Japan.

Yelp
Visited our all-time favorite yakitori house in Tokyo! Everything from the outstanding food, drinks, attentive service and cool & hip atmosphere was spot on! Of course, the "sticks" are the star of the show, but even the hot pots, sashimi and side dishes were fantastic too. Make sure to try the Supreme Loin which was absolutely delicious! It matched the A5 wagyu we had on our trip, but at a fraction of the price! Important: make sure to have a reservation (did ours thru Hot Pepper) since they are always full. You may get lucky and land a spot at the bar, but with very few seats and tables, groups and families will definitely need a reservation. Oh yeah, make sure to wear socks (the good ones) since you have to take your shoes off before entering. When in Rome...

Yelp
Stumbled upon this on Yelp while deciding what to eat in Japan. Unfortunately, you will need to make a reservation way ahead if you want to take your time. We went around 5pm to see if there was any luck and they allowed us to dine in if we were only there for an hour. Hidden door so you'll definitely do a double take to see where the restaurant is. Take off your shoes right when you get into the entrance and you walk through a narrow bar area. There are tables past that but it's for parties of 4. The bathroom is also past the tables on the right side (hallway). They have a large selection of sake, beer, and many different types of skewers. The cabbage they served was probably one of the best I tried. There is a English menu and staff knows enough to have a conversation. Heads up, it is pretty expensive! Expected as you are in Roppongi. For us two, we spent about 12000¥.

Yelp
After a long day of walking Tokyo we were hungry, it was raining, and every spot we called was fully booked. Feeling defeated and frantically scrolling through Yelp to find something close to what we were craving, Jomon Roppongi came up in our search and they said if we got there quick they could seat us. I'm so happy we ended up here. This was the best Kushiyaki experience we had in Japan. Our waitress, Hutu, was excellent and the restaurants atmosphere was a modern take on classic Japan, warm and inviting. They even hit us with free hand warmers on our way out. Hospitality was big here and appreciated. As for the food, the A5 wagyu skewer was our main event, and we ended up ordering two of them. I'm going to have dreams about that thing for a long time. The rest of our meats were all delicious as well. We tasted some of the grilled cheese skewer options and they were super tasty and recommended. Also had the fried eggplant with sausage miso sauce and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Highly recommended if you're in Tokyo and looking for some amazing grilled meats.

Yelp
My favorite yakitori was in Osaka but unfortunately I was not there for this Japan trip and had to find something in Tokyo and luckily I came across this one which was awesomely not too far away from my hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Like many places, it was pretty small and tight in spacing. They have an English menu and they accept credit cards which is one of the key things I appreciate when dining in Japan as I don't like holding much cash. We focused primarily on chicken skewers as that's essentially what yaki tori means. We basically ordered everything they offered in terms of chicken and some other pieces such as lamb and a pork skewer. Everything was cooked very well, nice and juicy. My typical favorite chicken skewer is the chicken balls (tsukune) but sadly this place was just mediorce for me. It was lacking tenderness I was expecting and the flavor wasn't as pure chicken as I would have liked. Also there was no raw egg yolk to dip the skewer which I was accustomed to. Rest of the pieces though were on point, the tail, kidneys, liver, heart, tail, veins, etc. We also tried the soft tofu which was nice and refreshing. We ended up ordering almost 13-15 skewers a person and we were stuffed! Great place and would definitely come here again if in the area!

Yelp
Best yakiroti I've had in my life! The potato croquette with tartar sauce is phenomenal. Cut into it and the yolk of a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg oozes down the croquette and adds even more creamy goodness to the dish. I seriously could have just eaten these all night and been a perfectly happy camper. You MUST get this! We also got a bunch of yakitori including the AAAAA beef. We weren't brave enough to try the horsemeat sashimi. We stopped in during the afternoon and were able to make a reservation for dinner the following evening They do have a per person seating charge, but who cares? Worth every yen. Kick your shoes off (mandatory), and get ready for some really mind blowing yakitori.

Yelp
Best all around yakitori I have ever had. We came for a late night snack on a Sunday around 11 pm. Walking by the place almost looked closed but we asked and they said "we're open until 5 am today!" We got a bunch of yakitori, including chicken heart, gizzards, meatball with sauce, pork belly, beef short ribs, and beef tongue. Everything was tender, flavorful, and just mouthwateringly amazing! The service was great, very friendly and accommodating to English speakers.

Yelp
I really loved this yakitori place in the Roppongi area of Tokyo. Highly recommend by both a friend and our hotel. We luckily scored a last minute reservation for a shared table. The yakitori was fantastic. Highlights were the skirt steak, beef tongue, pork wrapped asparagus, seared scallops, and chicken legs skewers. I ate so much I eventually stopped taking pictures.. too busy gorging on the deliciousness. The amberjack sashimi was phenomenal.. I had never tried before. The avocado with seaweed was so refreshing. We had lots of sake and enjoyed making new friends with our table mates. This place is very traditional. Shoes off at the front and very cozy inside. It gets a bit Smokey from the grill but such a pleasant atmosphere you don't want to go home. Our bill was approx $110 for 2 adults and 2 kids which was super reasonable.. especially with the amount we ate. For sure recommend if your in the area.

Yelp
After attending the Belgian Beer Festival in Roppongi Hills, my bf and I were super hungry and we walked to Jomon for some yakitori. Luckily, we arrived early and were seated because it seemed like reservation was highly encouraged at this small joint. We had the supreme loin, beef tongue, beef skirt, boneless short rib, beef neck, chicken breast, chicken liver, lettuce and cheese bacon roll, scallops, beef stew, and beef sashimi. Omg, the food was just so delicious all around. The very simple cabbage appetizer tasted great even though it was plain. We asked for refills. As for the skewers, everything tasted well-seasoned and of high quality. All the meats were so juicy and tender that we had to order a second round for each. Even the iced barley tea tasted refreshing on a warm night. The most memorable for me had to be the lettuce and cheese bacon roll because the melted cheese united all the ingredients together perfectly. To my surprise, the cheese was not overwhelmingly cheesy and did not have a strong flavor profile. It simply provided the gooey texture that enveloped the lettuce and bacon. Overall, I highly recommend Jomon Roppongi. Most of the staff were comfortable speaking English and food came out of the kitchen quickly. This was my bf's favorite restaurant throughout the entire Japan trip!
google avatar

Keiko M.

Yelp
Horrible customer service and too smoky. First they didn't tell that they charged for seats and tea that most restaurants in Japan don't charge. Most customers here are foreign travelers. That's why... Also some waitresses could not tell me what today's special, what kind of sake, and etc without going back to the kitchen again and again. Taste: Asparagus wrapped with pork and grilled avocado were tasty. Lamb tasted marinated by msg. Price: Overpriced. Not tasty tea ¥300 $3. A seat ¥300 $3. Customer service: Horrible. Tip: They serve a free tiny cup of tea at the end. But if you don't ask, they don't serve. Aw.... I will never come back here again. The staff should have explained their fees better.

Yelp
This place provided me one of my best Yakitori experiences ever. My flight arrived late in Tokyo and dropped my luggage off at my hotel which was right around the corner. I was hungry so I went strolling for a great place to get some good food and drinks. While randomly walking past this gem, the host instantly took us in and ordered a Suntory beer in draft while looking at the menu. The Amberjack Sashimi was amazing! I could've ordered it all night. I also ordered some yakitori such as Short Rib, Japanese Pepper, Asparagus Bacon, and Pear Bacon. Everything was so delicious!!! I also ordered the Spicy Noodle which was decent. The food was so good that I even went back for a 2nd visit on day 4 of my trip to Tokyo. I will also be be back on my next visit to Tokyo.

Yelp
Yakitori heaven! I'm a little upset that I forgot to review this place right after I came back from my Japan trip, but better late than never! If you haven't noticed by my reviews, I am a big lover of Yakitori. The boyfriend decided since we are in Japan, why not try the real thing. We made reservations a few hours ahead. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly and cheerful staff members. We got seated right in front of the grill, which I loved and they also had a handwritten welcome note for us! It was so sweet! Sadly, I don't remember everything we ordered... And clearly, I didn't take enough photos of what we ate. However, the food and drinks were absolutely amazing! We ordered a lot from their menu and reordered the ones we really enjoyed. Service was outstanding! Staff members were super helpful in explaining what the specials were and checked up on us frequently. It was also a big plus that they had an English menu and most of the staff spoke English very well. Atmosphere is lively and vibrant. I definitely had a great time and would love to return when I am back in Japan! PS: This is a shoes off establishment, so wear your cute socks!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
So agreed with some others. Cool fun experience. Food wasn't out of the world, but it was a solid Yaktori spot and they speak good English. Def make a RSVP as most spots in Tokyo are small and fill up easily and quickly. Be prepared to sit on the floor and end up smelling like a grill. We went as dinner doors opened and didn't notice the smell as much, but it was Smokey and if we walked in later I'm sure it would have been more noticeable rather than as the smoke built up from the kitchen with us. Oh and get the sake here it's poured into your glass and then overflows into the wooden cup around it. Yassss.

Yelp
This. Was. So. Good. Came by after reading up on reviews and suggestions online for great places to eat in Roppongi, Tokyo. The food was so fresh and so good. We sat right in front of the chef as he did his thing. Everything had plenty of flavor and was cooked to perfection. I had the chicken gizzard, lamb shoulder and chicken leg. My friend had the chefs special which consisted of 8 assorted sticks including beef, chicken, veggies and pork and also added on a scallion stick. We also got a hot sake which was great. They give a complimentary cabbage that comes with the table fee. I hope to be able to come back during my time in Tokyo and enjoy the scenery and food again. As far as seating goes I would definitely recommend reservations as they are booked out constantly. You can call or contact on what's app, etc. just verify on website. They have bar seating, 'outdoor seating' and dining room seating. In true Japanese fashion shoes are not allowed inside so wear shoes easy to get in and out of it you can help it. They do not split checks here so also be prepared for that with your cash on hand or with your card (they accept visa and MasterCard). Try whatever your heart desires as I truly don't believe you can go wrong here.

Yelp
2.5 stars. Definitely a tourist trap & its doing a great job at it. Walked into the restaurant and all i see are foreigners. Staff are English speaking. Food was mighty expensive just as expected from reading previous reviews. 300 yen charge for seating which was more expensive than my chicken yakatori. Ordered the chicken leg, beef belly dish, and scallop. Food came out luke warm. Probably will not come back if im ever in Roppongi. Very very friendly and accommodating staff but i cant justify the price of the food for its quality.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Loved this little yakitori spot. Plenty for vegetarians and you can get by without Japanese if need be. Best to book ahead as its small and popular. Its on the ground floor and people are kind of sitting in the window with their feet dangling outside. You will need to leave your shoes at the door, but seating area is sunken so more comfortable than sitting on the floor. They have plenty of options - meat, veg, meat-wrapped veg, and even cheese. They can recommend things to you or choose your own. My boy loved the beef special, the fried corn in soy butter was AMAZING, and the sesame tofu was almost like peanut butter. Sake comes by the glass, but they over-pour into a bamboo box so it's basically 2 shots. Staff is so friendly. Be aware that your clothes will smell like yakitori when you leave.

Yelp
Tried to get into Jomon on our first night in Japan and it was full with an hour wait. My friends and I tried again on a different night a couple days before leaving Japan and we were on a small wait but got in 5 minutes later. Not a fan to pay 300 yen for a cover fee, but it is what it is. The atmosphere felt like we were visiting a pop-up underground bar. We were surrounded by young professionals who clearly had a long day at the office and the aroma of roasted meat throughout the whole place. Most of the staff spoke English which made it easier to order instead of pointing at words on the menu. We ordered various types of meat on skewers that were charred and grilled to perfection. To our surprise and disbelief, they had horse sashimi on the menu. I was not proud of myself after trying the raw horse meat even after chugging some sake. All the tables received cabbage, sauces and side veggies to go with the food. Whoever developed the concept of a Yakitori bar is a genius. I will definitely miss this when I return to the states and have basic bar food like sliders, fries and nachos.

Yelp
Dope ass yakitori joint. But look, this place was like eating in the Amazon. Hot as SHIT!!! Seriously. Dress like you're In Cabo and your good. It was about 35 degrees Fahrenheit outside and I was sweating like a pig. Aside from that; the grilled meat here is some of the best I've had in my life. Excellent yakitori joint with plenty of alcohol. Ok, I've returned to this joint and I'm glad to say it wasn't hot!! The food was once again excellent and I wasn't sweating my ass off.
google avatar

MeeLun C.

Yelp
OMG! Best Izakaya ever! The meats are high quality. The skewers are marinated and grilled to perfection. We sat Horigotatsu style at the bar with a mini electric fan watching the art of grilling. Everything was so yummy
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
Late review however I feel they deserve it. I went in late January on a Saturday night as I met up with some local friends. I felt like I was going to an "exclusive" joint as there were no signs and I ended up walking by it not even noticing my friends were already inside taking off their shoes. Reserve in advance as it gets busy and prepare for a nice treat as they hand write your reservation sign with your name - small things impress me :) As I'm very accustomed to Izakaya's in Vancouver, I feel Joumon would be very popular and a go to spot. For non-smokers like myself, you might not be fond of the smell, however the atmosphere and quality of food will definitely compensate. If you are adventurous, try their horse sashimi and chicken gizzard. #Itadakimasu

Yelp
If you can snag a seat with a window, definitely get one (only good for two people). One person sits inside facing out the window and the other person sits outside facing in. The waitress will make recommendations based on your questions. Portions are very very small, order plenty. Good mix of large groups and small groups. Great food and a great experience.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Joumon was insanely difficult to find. No bright sign, just a wooden sliding door and a small engraved address. We walked by a few days before New Years and tried to get a spot, but was told that we had to make a reservation. No problem. Two days later, we came again. The entire establishment was dimly lit and smokey. The smoke, from the charcoal grill at the bar, was thick enough to see eddies and swirls as it rose up under the lights. No cigarettes here, however, unlike some other yakitori establishments - the smoke was purely from grilling. The skewers were delicious, with great grilled flavor. We ordered an assortment of grilled vegetables, pork, chicken, and beef. The side dishes were surprisingly decent: beef sashimi, miso eggplant, and fried oysters. Of course, these were all washed down with a great pitcher of beer. Service was excellent and friendly, and catered to English-speakers. Inf act, it seems like the establishment is rather popular with expats (which apparently Roppongi has a lot of) and foreigners. To our left sat a table of 4 who alternated between speaking in Japanese and in English. Across the room was another table of English-speakers. All in all, would recommend to any travelers seeking a delicious yakitori restaurant.

Yelp
**FUN PLACE FOR SAKE AND SKEWERS** 3.5 stars. A bit too touristy for me. AMBIANCE ========== Foreigners lined up outside . . . that should have been a red flag. Bookmarked this place for awhile so we proceeded with our reservations. Dark, extremely noisy (especially with screaming Americans next to us - they were repeatedly "hushed" by the staff), with authentic seating. FOOD ===== CHICKEN WINGS These were spicy and had a nice crisp to the skin. Flavorful and delicious. RATING: 4/5 POTATO CROQUETTE Not our favorite, lacked substance. RATING: 3.5/5 CHICKEN Not as juicy or flavorful as the beef or the pork. RATING: 3/5 PORK/BACON Very good, flavorful, and juicy. RATING: 4/5 BEEF Tender, but not as flavorful as the pork. RATING: 3.5/5 SERVICE ======== Staff was friendly, but aloof at times. We asked for water 3x. RATING: 3.5/5 OVERALL ======== Not the best yakitori we've had in Japan, but it's solid, especially for foreigners and first timers to Japan.

Yelp
Had such a fun time as our last dinner in Tokyo. The Roppongi area itself was easy on the eyes. Take note, reservations are huge in Japan. We attempted to go to another Yakitori spot but they were all filled up for the night. Luckily Jomon Roppongi took us in. My wife and I ordered the Chef's Choice meal, seeing that were are American, he kindly asked us if we knew what that meant, that he would choose anything off of their menu for us. We assured him we understood but I still think he took it easy on us. We loved everything he made for us. Cheese bacon wraps, chicken liver skewers, short ribs, beef tongue skewers were some of the great stand outs. The dipping sauces and rubs on the side really enhanced the meal. I loved all the food, but some of it I wasn't sure what it was, and I felt bad for having to ask, so we just ate it. Honestly, I didn't eat anything I didn't love. Such a great experience for our last night in town.

Yelp
We arrived early with no reservation. The host was very accommodating and found a small 2-person table that the 3 of us could squeeze into. Large selection of skewers and other dishes. We tried the chefs 8-skewer course and several things from the specials menu. With 6 beers, it came out to about $100 USD. This place was cozy and smokey. Lots of severs who were very attentive. There were a lot of foreign tourists here, several with kids. This place doesn't seem like the best place for kids, but the knee there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also - tip for the out of towners like us: this is a shoes off establishment.

Yelp
Popped into this place looking for a very specific item on the menu and sadly that thing was sold out. We also got there much later in the evening so it was good enough that the place was even open, and when we arrived it was packed! Definite must is the potato croquette if you're feeling starchy. Has a delicious soft boiled egg at the center too to just top off how tasty it already was. Of course, the yakitori was good. Drinks felt a bit more on the boozy side than places we'd been to previously and drenched in an awesome atmosphere. Made a great end of that day's adventures.

Yelp
Good yakitori and excellent service and atmosphere! Tried out a good variety of skewers... disappointed with the beef tongue as it was more chewy than expected, good ones are enoki mushroom which tastes much better than the ones I can buy in US, ginko nuts, chicken heart, lamb shoulder, shishamo, and now to the star of the evening - chicken neck, it is simply the best I've had in a long time and I had to reorder it. Good drinks too...

Yelp
Best yakatori we've ever had. Incredible service. Fun and fantastic people and atmosphere. We loved it so much we came back three days later and they remembered our drink order! Be sure to look at the recommended menu for specials. Beyond delicious. Yellowtail, amber fish, octopus are perfect. My friend had the grilled steak and said it was a perfectly grilled piece of meat. The peppers are melt in your mouth. They have grilled smoke Gouda that you will dream about. We ordered the sesame pudding for dessert and it was heaven. Share one for two people. Enough to enjoy The staff is the icing on the cake. Wonderful people. I'd give it 6 stars if I could

Yelp
Great spot! Lively, friendly, and with good food and drinks to match. Recommended for a date.

Yelp
Everything is legit at Jomon...they even wrap some of the vegetables in meat which is by far the best way to enjoy asparagus. Save room for the deep fried corn which just might be your favorite dish on the menu. We went with 2 young kids (8 and 4) and they had a blast trying all new cuts of meet (beef neck anyone?). It's smoky inside....we had one of the seats in the window (2 in, 2 out) which worked well. It's a cozy place but well worth a visit. Prices also seemed reasonable.

Yelp
Really cool fun spot, sit at the bar if you can to see the action. Everything that came off the grill was delicious, I ate so much that I hit the point that everything started tasting the same but I remember thinking you cant really go wrong no matter what you order.

Yelp
Love love this place! From the minute you step down into it and take off your shoes and the smell of grilled meat slaps your face in front of you, it feels like an authentic and traditional place to bring buddies or family. Food is insanely good-although you will need to order a lot if you are a big eater. Folks in there a great and this is one of my absolute favorite places in Tokyo. Will take many guests here.

Yelp
I'm fully convinced it's the liquor talking, but this was insanely good. As a solo traveler, I got in quickly and was seated at the counter. They said they needed the space back in 2 hours time, but that seemed more than enough. I'd have stayed longer, in hindsight, but I think it wasn't a bad idea to call it a night when the other guests arrived. The concept is simple: tiny skewers of the meat of your choice, chargrilled and presented to you piping hot. And to my surprise, they actually were delicious. They even have chicken tail, which is something as a child I'd fought for at home when we had roast chicken. It was as good as I imagined. I also had pork, beef and other chicken skewers, but I quickly settled on these chicken tails. To start the night off well, I had a glass of sake; my first one in Japan. Really nice, but my eyes were quickly drawn by the wall behind the counter. It's covered in what I would figure out later are bottles of shochu. Needless to say, I had to try it. I first had it on ice, but quickly understood I would get a full glass, with or without ice. So I went for the shochu without ice and tried a large amount of the bottles on the wall. Excellent drink, 10/10 would drink again. Also much stronger than sake, so I got a proper buzz before heading to the hotel. Big shout out to the waitress that helped me choose along the way, figuring out what I wanted as we went along. Fun element: you have to take your shoes off when you enter, but in the bathroom they provide some sandals so you can keep your feet clean. I can't recommend this place enough. The food is great, the drink was excellent and the service was perfect.

Yelp
Solid yakitori spot! Boyfriend wanted food and drinks in Roppongi and we ended up here on Sunday around 7pm. Like most Japanese restaurants, the English name was not on the building and the address is actually "18". Thankfully a server walked out to help us since we were pacing back and forth on the sidewalk looking confused. He asked us if we has reservations and we said no. He then offered a spot to eat right on the window (see pictures below for a visual) if we could finish our meal by 8:30pm. We said OK and found our legs and feet dangling onto the side walk. It was a bit cramped because the boyfriend is not a small man but it was also cozy and a great experience. We both got the yakitori omakase and shared the deep fried pig trotters. Everything was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. I'm still dreaming about the trotters!! Please make reservations so you can sit and face the open kitchen. Wash your feet too because you'll be taking your shoes off. And finally bring cash.

Yelp
This place was great, and super hospitable. I actually missed my reservation here since I accidentally went to the wrong restaurant. But the restaurant's staff were super nice and managed to accommodate me even though the restaurant was pretty full. When I arrived, they asked my name for the reservation, and I told them Chris. Then the lady running the desk was just like, "Ohhhh, Chris-sama!" and the rest of the staff just cheered. It was very welcoming and I got a good laugh out of that. The actual food was very good and I quite enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. It felt very casual with the smoke from the grills everywhere perfuming the room with delicious meat smells. I got one of the set menus and also the scallops. Both were absolutely delicious and the set menu was very well balanced. I think everyone should get this experience if they come to Japan.

Yelp
Unfortunately, Yelp has led me astray on this find. My experience here during my trip was not as great as other reviewers' experiences. I had the complete opposite experience here. Where do I start? We ordered a few small plates, some skewers, some rice bowls and some appetizers. The timing of our order came out at odd times. Our skewers came one at a time, and there would be a lull in between our other orders. Some of our skewers never made it to our table, even after repeatedly asking where it was. The server also told me one of the skewer was pork, even though it was clearly beef. Not to mention, our initial server completely deserted us, and someone new came and served us halfway through our meal. English was limited, so it was hard to explain what we were missing and what we ordered. Service was horrible, but the worst part was when we received our checks. We were charged for multiple items we didn't order/received. Also, there is a table service charge PER PERSON. Ok, am I missing something here? I've NEVER heard of a table service charge for a restaurant. Even if there was one, they should clearly state it before you are seated. It is in very fine print, at the END of the menu btw. I was shocked, and clearly not happy about this. Our server agreed to take a few items off, but at that point, I was not happy with how it was handled. The food was mediocre (it was the worst meal I had in Tokyo). The service was terrible. People were smoking at the table next to us, is this even normal? Overall, I would not recommend coming here. You can get better food and service elsewhere. Do not waste your time or money here.

Yelp
The best yakitori I've ever had in my life. The beef short rib was a life changing experience and flavour blast. The chicken breast, beef shirt, pork skirt and shiitake mushroom skewers delivered me straight to flavour town for a permanent residency. The zucchini skewer was magical, who knew zucchini could be so yum. My taste buds were having the time of their lives and I will never be the same. Jomon, you've skewered my heart, a yaki(vic)tori for me. PS: the pineapple finale palette cleanser was fresh to death. 27/10 would recommend. Wow.

Yelp
Amazing and hidden izakaya. One of our best meals in town. Assortments of meat and veggie skewers as well as small plates. Our favorites were the A5 wagyu, the sesame tofu, and to mix things up, the tomatoes and bacon wrapped cheese Small place intimate place with friendly folks who grill everything up quickly and in front of you. There are few seats, so reservations are a must. It also has minimal signage, such that we walked by twice before our google maps pointed us to a blank door and we finally tried sliding it open. Definitely would come back

Yelp
Loved the yakitori here!!! The atmosphere was very cool as well, bar/grill with tables facing the street, the space was very cramped though and it is best to make reservations. Highly recommend the beef short ribs (it will melt in your mouth) and the shiitake mushrooms. Also recommend the potato croquette, it is a big serving so keep that in mind. We also had pork rib, wagyu beef, zucinni, leek, bamboo, etc. All were good but adds up quickly. We easily hit 100 bucks here with just a drink and yakitori. There was a 600yen cover charge we did not know about, but overall the experience was great and we did not mind it.
