(Negative) MACH 1 ON THE BEACH
TL;DR
I find myself at Jones Beach almost every Memorial Day weekend checking out the Bethpage Airshow with my family.
From what I've seen of NYC beaches, the waters are murky colored and this appears to be the norm. During this time of year, the waters look cold but that doesn't stop those beach goers from swimming in cold, murky water, they are all up in that sucker. No thank you! The sand is a fine beige and very clean. Though I've noticed some ignorance when it comes to personal trash and not cleaning up behind themselves. People, please keep the beach clean!
The bathrooms at Fields 4 or 5 on an event day are super long, but the wait is short. The staff does a good job directing the masses of people to the next available stall and also keep the areas clean and organized.
As mentioned, my main visit to Jones Beach is for the Air Show. Focusing more on the engineering that is the U.S. Navy's Super Hornets F/A 18s and the U.S. Air Forces F-16s Fighting Falcons. With their booming and blaring engines displaying abilities of virtually quiet stealth mode, moving on to a mere 500mph then to burners forcing engines in excess of over 700mph, with the easiest of abilities to reach maximum speeds over 1000mph. The shrill and power of those engines are impressive.
A few years ago, for the crowds entertainment, these jets were able to display speeds close to Mach 1. It's one of the best feelings to witness a sonic boom done over water at such low altitudes. But due to the intensity of the sound and force literally shaking through your body, unfortunately that experience has been banned. I miss hearing and seeing all of that power. But what makes up for that loss, is the addition of more over the beach, low altitude, sneak up, flyby maneuvers scaring the wholly beejezus out of everyone. Love it!!

If you can appreciate witnessing a few of the best technologically advanced machinery our armed forces has to offer, check out the air show, it's freaking ah-mazing!!
