Food was good but not out of this world for Korean bbq. I give this a 2 star because where I was sat, the bus boy had to get me out of my chair to get thru which was a horrible experience. And this went on at least 3-4 times. Sometime he would just bump me as if I knew to get up from the back. I don't have eyes in the back of my head.

Yeah I really like this place. If you’re visiting and trying to find food you can’t get most other places go here. The staff is friendly wonderful and attentive and the food is great. Get the all you can eat and have an amazing time getting meat sweats for around 30 bucks. Other things like soups and kimchi there is also sold. It’s a little divey feeling but in only the best ways. Come here you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing!!! I've come here ever since I was a little kid, and it's really good. This restaurant is a truly authentic kbbq, the waiters do speak fluent Korean. Came here recently around lunch and there was no wait! Me and my plus twos were seated rather quickly. We ordered the all you can eat, which is pretty worth it. Keep in mind that you have to finish eating in 2 hours, and that if you have leftover meat you have to pay extra! Anyways, at each table there's two complimentary sauces, one is really salty and another is kind of like soy sauce. Soon, a waiter/waitress will arrive and give you the banchan (side dishes), which are amazing. I highly recommend the fried potatoes. After that, you order and then you.... wait. Usually the wait is five to 15 minutes, it varies a lot because there's rush hour and all the staff members have to cater to all the customers. Once you get your food (aka raw meat and stuff) you just grill it and BOOM! it's delicious. Dipping it in the sauce is great- it kind of cools it down and just adds great flavor. This time we also order some noodles (i forgot the name) that were cold, which actually tasted really good. I'm glad I come here, because the food is just great, if you cook it well haha. But the meat is actually pretty good quality! You can also ask for lettuce to wrap the meat in, and they'll give you a paste as well (not sure if its ssamjang or doenjang, I don't know much about Korean culture but I love it). I highly recommend doing this because it's really good!! I also add some banchan in the wrap which is delicious. Keep in mind the banchan is complimentary and you can always ask for more! Anyways, this restaurant is just awesome. Please come here. You won't regret it. AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT THOSE POTATOES! THEY'RE MY LIFE AND SOUL /lighthearted /half kidding

This review is only for lunch special. This place is currently my favorite spot for galbi with an insanely good price. With the Galbi combo, it’s $24.99 and comes with cold noodles, really tasty banchans (side dishes), soup of choice (I do tofu soup), and galbi. Everything was so delicious and the pricing is great especially in this economy. The restaurant interior isn’t anything crazy but the service is phenomenal! You know it’s good and authentic when Korean grandmas are serving you. Parking is street parking - I’ve never had problem during lunch hour finding street parking but might be different later at night time. Overall, been here twice and it’s been consistently good. Definitely my go-to for cheap galbi and tofu soup! Might give the AYCE Korean bbq a try some time.

This was not my first visit to Jong Ga House, and it is most certainly not my last. I frequent Jong Ga House when I’m craving korean bbq that reminds me of home. I have celebrated several birthdays amongst my friends here because it is perfect for large groups and they even throw in a birthday discount ($22.99 for the birthday person), two scoops of ice cream, and they play happy birthday through the speakers across the restaurant! They never fail to provide excellent, attentive service as well as authentic Korean bbq that keeps you wanting more. This is also one of the more affordable all you can eat (AYCE) kbbq spots in the East Bay. Lunch & happy hour (9pm-11pm) is $29.99/person and dinner is only $32.99. Compared to other spots that charge nearly $50/person and often have slower service or marinades that don’t quite capture traditional Korean flavors, Jong Ga House knocks it out of the park in every category. I especially love that they offer Mul Naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy buckwheat noodles) on the AYCE menu. These noodle dishes pair perfectly with freshly grilled Kalbi, so it is always a delight to be able to order one of these with my meal here. Mul Naengmyeon is always served with a side of hot mustard and vinegar to mix in to taste. It is such a refreshing dish that brightens your whole meal, make it as spicy or as sour as you want! Pro Tip: Be sure to cut your noodles into smaller pieces, they are super-duper chewy! Everything here is an absolute hit, but you have to try their Kimchi Pancake, Caramelized Fried potatoes, and, of course, the corn cheese! (Usually I order one of each per 2 people) You don’t have to worry about filling up too fast on the sides—the portion sizes are thoughtful, and you can always let them know if your table wants more or less of a serving. In addition to their banchan (complimentary side dishes that you can refill at most Korean restaurants), they also offer Booricha (roasted barley tea) which helps to cut the grease of some richer meats, like pork belly and intestine. Beyond the food, the stellar service has kept me coming back. During one of my first visits, I came with a party of eight, and one of our friends was vegetarian. The staff kindly let her order from the regular menu while the rest of us enjoyed the AYCE KBBQ + hotpot combo. (FYI: the hotpot add-on is available for parties of 5+ for just $10 more.) It’s the little things that they continue to do that make them my favorite Korean bbq spot in the east bay. Come give this small business a visit and eat your heart out!

Delicious koren BBQ! I go there for the dol sot bibimbap- it's amazing on a cold night. Yummy dumpling too. Full bar is also nice. It can be very crowded. Try after 7 on a Monday night.

Oakland and Grand Avenue are a culinary delight. Snuck down here on a time crunch before a college football game and thought I entered a slice of heaven. The restaurant was very busy and the staff attentive and knowledgeable. We chose the all you can eat which we did trying everything we could. Besides the scrumptious flavors, the food didn’t leave you with a heavy feeling. The Bulgogi and the calamari were my favorites. I highly recommend this spot.

This is our second time, we tried lunch specials bulgogi and kimchi soup and came with rice and some cold noodles soup, but the rice had a smelly smell, we didn’t know until we eat and I think it’s an old rice so we will not come back here again. Even if our first time was not good either

My fav KBBQ! The meat is always well marinated. Love the radish wraps and the staff are very efficient! Pro tip: they DO NOT go by the yelp waitlist! So don't leave! They go based on who is there and has been waiting. Make eye contact and wait patiently. Enjoy fam!

TL;DR: order a la carte, not ayce kbbq Came here a few times in the past and have always enjoyed ordering their BBQ and soup entrees a la carte. However, we came with a group on Saturday night and got ayce kbbq for the table. It was super busy and service was spotty. They would conveniently forget a few items we asked for and we had to ask multiple times. Service is friendly though so it's hard to be mad at them. It was also extremely busy. Meats were just ok, wish they had lamb or wagyu

My wife and I tried the all-you-can-eat option for $33 per person. The food was good, with standout dishes like the brisket, garlic pork belly, and kimchi pancake, but it wasn't exceptional. Service, unfortunately, was lacking. A server spilled water on the table and a little on me, which wasn't a big deal. However, after the manager checked in, the service didn't improve. They didn't bring me another glass of water or clean up the spill fully, leaving greasy, slippery spots around and on the table. Overall, the food was solid, but the service left much to be desired. With better service, this could easily be a four-star review.

Profoundly disappointing. How does this place rate 4.5 stars????? Perhaps only the bbq is worth ordering, and that is all they care about. This was a late night meal, and I ordered a mushroom dolsot bibimbap with tofu. No mushrooms, no fried egg. I also ordered mandoo, which came cold, flavorless, stale - they didn't even bother to reheat them. The bivimbap bowl was brought back with mushrooms and an egg, and it was OK, but I was more than a little annoyed by then... Oh, well. Part of the trial and error of finding truly good places anywhere. Hard for me to give a shit if Jong Ga House doesn't. 'Nuff said.

Pretty solids AYCE KBBQ spot for the east bay! I came here on a Friday night and boy was it packed. The waitlist was long but it moved fast. We put our name down and took a walk around the block. It is very loud and busy inside as almost every kbbq place is. It looked like there was another seating area that was for people who were not eating AYCE. The menu is pretty basic. You have your side, stews, rices, and all the meats like bugulgi, brisket, steak, pork belly, and short ribs. The service was not the best here. We constantly had to flag down our server. Water was never refilled until we asked. It was around $33 an adult for dinner. They do have a birthday special here. The price ~$23 for the birthday person and they sing you a song and bring you ice cream.

4.75 stars - Consistently good food, fairly priced lunch specials, a wide assortment of banchan. Service can be a bit slow, but everyone is nice! Jong Ga House has been there for a while. I'm talking well over a decade, and I always find myself back here whenever I'm in the area. There are options for every mood--whether you're just popping in for a comforting bowl of soup or if you're ravenous and ready for a full carnivorous feast. There is something for everyone! They have both AYCE and a la carte. Both come with an assortment of banchan (side dishes), and they are always yummy. Beer and alcohol are also served. The lunch specials menu is also quite extensive, and items are well-priced for the quality and amount of food you get. The space is pretty large. It does get busy on weekend evenings, but it generally isn't too hard to get a table. You can also reserve a table ahead of time via Yelp! Parking is mainly street and metered. It could get tricky since people also to visit Lake Merrit and the other businesses nearby.

This is my go to kbbq spot. The service is amazing and the food is delicious. They also offer great sides that are included in the ayce option like kimchi fried rice and neng myun. I honestly think this is some of the best quality and value you can get for kbbq so I highly recommend everyone try it.

My review is for a la carte only. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there were so many empty seats... a pleasant surprise to not have to line up. Ordered seafood pancake, 2 lunch specials which came with a meat and a soup; bulgogi with sun soft soup and galbi with cold buckwheat noodle soup. Quantity of meat was very small, so if you are big on meat don't do the a la carte option. Flavors of the dishes were okay, nothing exceptionally good or bad. Side dishes were normal. I think I would want to try the AYCE here next time since the other tables that came in all asked for AYCE. I thought the items we ordered were all just average and that doesn't make me want to try again. Restaurant and bathroom were both clean. Service was good.

Eddie was our awesome server. The place is very fun considering I haven't been in this area before it made it extra special. Any he made us feel comfortable right through the front door. It was a surprise dinner date for my wife. This was our first time here. We ordered the Special Dinner A for 2 people. The presentation of the food was very beautiful looking delicious on the table. There was so much to eat and we were so happy. We chose this place to come for the first time. Thank you, Eddie and Yumi for your hospitality. We will come back and bring friends.

One of my favorite KBBQ places in the bay! The meat is good but what really makes this place great is their sides. Their kimchi friend rice, kimchi pancake and corn cheese are a few of my favorites! The service here is also amazing. They're so quick and get our massive orders correct every time. As a bustling place, I always feel excited to eat there. The food always smells amazing.

Solid place! Food came out fast and delicious. The manager/owner (?) came out to greet us to tell us about their soju specials and she was super fun to be around and very sociable! Actual serving staff was pretty busy though (came on a thurs night ~9 pm) so service got backed up a bit. Other than that, I enjoyed all the meats, sides, and yummy soups. This is a great spot to come to for a late night with friends.

Honestly this place was ok but not fantastic IMO. We ordered the spicy calamari and spicy octopus and instead got regular versions of both. The spicy chicken was pretty good, though...surprisingly sweet? I mean I'm not complaining, it was just unexpected!

I like the food and the place and the service is quick and friendly. I like the sauce, highly recommend.

Step aside all other AYCE KBBQ favorites I've had in the past...Jong Ga has taken the crown. Quick service, delicious meats, and caramelized fried potatoes?! Ugh, I love it here. Our group of four visited on a Saturday night around 8:30. After circling the block a bit, we ended up parking in a nearby neighborhood but there was also street parking available up front-ish. At this time of night, there were still some tables available where we didn't need to wait more than the 5 minutes it took for them to set our table up. I see they also have a waitlist on Yelp that you can join ahead of time if you don't want to just walk in. From there, we browsed the menu and ordered while snacking on some of the sides and the food came out steadily after that. My typical KBBQ order is bulgogi and theirs was delicious. Not too greasy and perfectly marinated. I also really liked their boneless short ribs - and I'm not usually a big fan of short ribs. But I'll definitely be ordering that next time. Add the rice wraps, lettuce wraps, and garlic and I'm set. OH and of course, can't forget the caramelized fried potatoes. I can never find this anywhere else and it's my favorite! So glad I found it here. Anyways, I will make the trek from Hayward to here whenever I'm craving AYCE KBBQ.

We have been here throughout the years. We really like that even it is a AYCE Korean BBQ place, the food is pretty tasty and flavorable. Also service was quick on a Saturday at around 4pm. Ambiance was nice, not too noisy and very warm and cozy. Comparing to Tri-Valley, even YakiniQ LV, this is way better.

Salt was such an amazing waiter while he was taking care of the entire house. I appreciate his patience and speed when it came to his overall service. I believe it was also the owner who helped us out too since she was dressed so beautifully. She was very sweet. While they don't have a larger variety of certain cuts of protein their marinade is really flavorful. For the price it's definitely worth it compared to other restaurants. I've been to Jong Ga a solid amount of times and it's an old school dining/bar area, which I like every now and then. Nothing fancy. The grills could use some TLC, as the proteins weren't grilling/cooking as I'd like, but overall still a good spot. When it comes to cooking meat I like it medium rare if possible so if they provided better heat I'd be so happy. It gives a good sear on the outside since some of the meats are thin.

Finally tried Jong Ga House for their AYCE Korean BBQ, and it was a delight! The variety of meats was impressive and perfectly seasoned. The sides complemented the BBQ well, especially the kimchi and pickled veggies. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure our grills were always sizzling. The only downside was a slight wait time, but it was worth it! Highly recommend joining their waitlist while you're heading to the restaurant.

The good: solid menu, quick service, and decent prices. The okay: limited parking & long wait at peak times. If I weren't rushing from South Bay to Oakland, I would have totally made it for the lunch menu prices. Upset at myself. Total = ~$90 w/ two Cokes. Regardless! Friend and I came for an early dinner at 5pm on a Friday and we were the second group in the restaurant. I don't think they actually close in between lunch and dinner :O but we love an early dinner before a concert at Oakland Arena. Solid NINE banchans with plenty of other side dish options. We ended up only trying three meats (bc we're basic) but all of them were great: kalbi, bulgogi, and brisket. This is probably the thickest cut (and bloodiest) cut of bulgogi I've ever seen at a kbbq joint. The plate was overflowing with blood and spilled over onto the table. Did the servers care? Not at all. Service here is very chill lol they yelled over to me from halfway across the room to ask what I wanted and I just yelled back lmao. By the time we left at 6:30pm, there were at least ten parties on the Yelp waitlist. Space is pretty small so just time it right!

For AYCE kbbq, this place is a good spot to come to. It's a pretty busy spot especially on a weekend night, so you would definitely have to plan to come early if you don't want to wait. This place has been opened for quite a while now too. Because it's so crowded, service can be a little hectic at times. I've been to Jong Ga a few times and I'm always pretty satisfied with my meals here. It's a very standard Korean spot with you classic bonchon, and selection of meats. What's also cool about this place is that you can order side dishes such as their tteokbokki, or their naengmyeon. You don't really see that in other kbbq spots that serve that. Overall food was good. There isn't anything I can really complain about food-wise here. You get a bang for your buck and there's a plethora of things on their menu. The meats to the kalbi, the pork belly, and brisket were good and it's quite a lot as well. My only caveat for me would be the service. I know there's a lot of people but sometimes our orders would get missed and we would need to reorder a couple of times. I don't blame the workers but I do feel like there should be one or two more especially when the crowd starts to roll in. Overall, this is a great spot to come to regardless and I recommend coming here for a late-night dinner with friends or something!

Home-y decor and ambience. Smaller selection of meats than Goji Time but also cheaper AYCE price. I enjoyed the spicy chicken and spicy calamari, and the japchae was tasty, in addition to the banchan. They also offer a small tofu stew, which was quite good according to my friend.

There was a varied selection of meats and it was high quality. Service was solid. I would recommend this place to anyone in the Oakland area.

Hi everyone, so me n my friends we went to Jong ga house ( Korean bbq) yesterday. We were 4 people for dinner. We had a great time , great food n good service specially Eddie n Michelle. I think this is my 3rd time there n I'll go again. Thank u Jong ga house....

We've been here many times. Always good! Today we had the Galbi, tofu soup, and bibimbap for lunch. Galbi: good flavor, nicely grilled. Good portion Tofu soup: good amount of tofu and meat inside. Bibimbap: good variety of toppings inside. Bulgogi inside was tasty. Service was excellent. A favorite: all the banchans especially the potato!!

Michelle is literally the best server. Made great recommendations, super attentive, made us laugh, and was so hospitable! Definitely my go to kbbq spot.

The food is good which is why I keep going back. But the female server we had today was awful. She glared at me and mean mugged me every time we asked for additional items and she just seemed burnt out and over this job. It wasn't just our table, she did it to everyone else. I do think that this restaurant is under staffed for an AYCE spot. But from now on I will likely go to Ohgane which provides a much better service

Excellent service and clean atmosphere. It definitely feels like a family owned place but they don't cut any corners. The quality of the meat was high and the portions for AYCE were generous. We got the spicy pork, brisket, rib meat, and bulgogi. We're definitely going to be returning. You can't go back to places like GEN after this place.

Heard good things about this place, but was deeply disappointed. We did the AYCE kbbq. Service was pretty bad. Slamming plates on our table and not placing items carefully on our table. Some of the meat dropped on the table when they placed the plate and they threw it on our grill. A big no no! Ordered a spicy tofu soup/stew. Tasted like lasagna soup. The spicy pork belly was marinated in too much gochujang. Grill heat was out of whack. One of the servers kept on adjusting our flames every time she passed by us. Really pissed me off. Food took forever too cook cause they kept messing with our fire. Looks like they were in a bad mood. Don't serve if you hate your job... Also, super cold in here. Like, 65 the whole time. Tried it once, never again.

Had an unfortunately dreadful experience at this (surprisingly popular) Korean eatery by Grand Lake. We visited on a Saturday night at 7:30, and the place was packed with extremely boisterous tables, with people screaming at the top of their lungs. We were asked if we wanted all-you-can-eat or regular service, and we chose regular. We were then taken upstairs to a hidden overflow area that was stuffy, poorly ventilated, and filled with smoky air from the on-table BBQs. There was a button on the table to call waitstaff, but despite pressing it multiple times, no one came. Our server was kind and genuinely tried to help, but it was clear they were short-staffed, and the upstairs area was easy to overlook. When we inquired about vegetarian options, the choices felt quite limited. We eventually ordered a tofu and vegetable dish, but it arrived without any tofu. Service was exceedingly slow, and I hesitated to correct the issue for fear of another long wait. By that point, I just wanted the check and to leave. I don't entirely blame the server--he seemed to be doing his best under the circumstances--but it was clear they were understaffed, trying to serve both all-you-can-eat and à la carte patrons, and managing a hidden, easy-to-forget upstairs area. I will not be returning due to the excessive noise, poor overall ambiance, lacking service, errors in the food, and poorly prepared à la carte dishes, including the limited vegetarian options. I can only assume the high ratings are due to the all-you-can-eat BBQ meat experience, but for me, this place was a 2 out of 5 stars at best. The only redeeming quality was the banchan, which were good and plentiful.

The food here was great. Right across from our chiropractor so we had to check it out. The service was attentive and I was so happy to see that they had my favorite tofu soup. The interior is classic and fun and we will definitely be back for a meet-up with friends, as it looks super fun to be here in the evening.

Went here for dad's bday. Wanted to give a shot to a local kbbq instead of gen or ohgane. Unfortunately the banchan had a screw in it. When this was brought to the manager, she looked at the tongs and scissors to see if they were missing screws. They were not. Service is fine. food is fine. Floors extremely slippery from grease? Our compensation for finding the screw in the food was a free ice cream... a bit disappointing, probably should have not stayed to eat. Nothing spectacular but they lost us for the screw in the food

Love to stop by for their lunch specials on Saturday and Sunday. The beef bibimbap came out steamy hot. The banchan was plentiful and we were so hungry, we had a second serving of banchan which is always complimentary. The hot tea helped cleanse our palate.

Aside for some suuuper minor complaints, this place was really good, starting with the price of $32.99 for a weekend dinner. The meat, seafood, and other options were pretty solid. I like that they gave smaller portions of everything too so we were able to get more variety. Some of our faves were the pork belly and brisket. The banchans were really good as well. I loved the soybean paste soup. So flavorful! The server checked on us pretty often and changed the grill pretty frequently. There was never a lull where there wasn't food on our table. Overall, for the price and quality, I would definitely come back.

Jong Ga House is located on a busy street in Oakland so parking can be hard to come by but was lucky enough to be able to find parking across the street on one of the cross streets. Came on a Friday night at 8pm and it wasn't busy at all. Maybe half full only which was nice actually. We made reservations the day of as there were 7 of us and didnt have any issue. The place is clean and not Smokey or greasy. Many kbbq places have such oily slippery floors but not here. The staff was very kind and attentive which was so nice so we had a constant stream of meats and bon chons coming out. The bon chons were so fresh and the kimchi was amazing! The japchae always came out warm which was nice. The meats were all delicious! I also ordered spicy baby octopus and it wasn't overly chewy or fishy, so it was delicious! I like that they have an extensive menu that includes soups and noodles. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back with family members.

My partner and I's favorite place to come eat some AYCE K-bbq. They are some really nice and lovely people, to the point where they know us by now with how often we stop in. The place is always thriving with people and it is always nice and cleaned with great music options. The service is quite fast and they are willing to accommodate to your needs and party size. They are pretty busy on the weekends, but you can join their waitlist online if you want to get ahead and know their wait time. Prices are very reasonable for their portion sizes & you get a lot of options and sides with their AYCE MENU. This place also serves other traditional Korean meal options besides AYCE. I love this place & will keep coming back!! Keep in mind though, it's not in the best area, so choose wisely on where you park because of car break ins! (Just don't leave anything in your car that is of value to you) I usually choose to park in the little side streets instead of the Main Street (Grand Ave.)

Was there on a Wed evening. Restaurant was busy, but has several tables available. Went with AYCE Korean BBQ. Quality and variety of meats were good, so were the sides. As with all KBBQ, be prepared to leave the place smoked... but totally worth it.

Jong Ga House has all the kbbq meats of your desire!! (Except spicy bulgogi...) Come here for a birthday celebration on the day of with your ID and you'll get a $10 discount on your dinner AYCE, and a free ice cream! Some of my favorite things to order are ribeye steak, LA kalbi, tofu soup, naengmyun. Refreshing naengmyun!! I know, I'm so weird for ordering this when I could stuff my face with de lupus kbbq meats!!! It sure is a treat to eat at Jong Ga House!!

This is my second time at jong ga, and honestly, I wish Jongga was closer to me, so I could go more often. LOL A great local ayce kbbq spot in Oakland! Variety of meats may not be as extensive as other kbbq restaurants, but I still really enjoyed the selection of meats they had. Their banchan was a 5/5 for my partner and me. They also have a great selection of other dishes. I had their corn cheese, soondoobu, and spicy buckwheat noodles (bibim naengmyeon) to pair with my meats. Their corn cheese was a nice big serving, good to share with the whole table. I love their bibim naengmyeon. It was savory, a little sweet, vinegary, refreshing with a little kick from the chilis. The soondoobu was just okay, but I honestly would still get it again. The servers were always busy because there was only 2 of them. However, they still stayed quite attentive to us. They would come to us whenever they could when they noticed our meats and other dishes were running low. They even did our grill changes without us having to ask. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed both of my experiences at Jong ga and can't wait to go again!

A couple friends and I decided to go to Jong Ga House for dinner, I've been here once before and was in love. This time was no different! The service was quick and our server brought us refills of our favorite side dishes when asked. We were also given a tiny bowl of kimchi noodles on the house. (Delicious btw) I ended up ordering the dol sot bibimbap and seafood pancake. Both were incredibly delicious! The dolsot bibimbap came piping hot with various vegetables and beef toppings. The server also brought me a plate of gochujang sauce to mix into the rice. The seafood pancake came crispy and hot, served with a delicious dipping sauce. I loved how it was packed with ingredients, they did not skimp on the seafood. I definitely want to come back again to try the AYCE and other dishes.
