Josefwiese is one of Zürich’s best-loved green spaces — a wide, welcoming park that feels like the city’s communal garden. Just a short walk from the main station, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, picnic, or simply people-watch among locals enjoying the sunshine. The park has a wonderful community feel, with open lawns, shady trees, and plenty of space to relax or play. There’s a playground for children, a grill area where families cook together, and the lovely Josef Café, which serves coffee, drinks, and light meals right beside the grass. We spent a a while here on a peaceful afternoon, soaking up the atmosphere — kids running, cyclists passing through, and groups of friends chatting under the trees. It’s the kind of place that captures the best of Zürich life: calm, clean, social, and effortlessly beautiful. Whether you’re visiting with kids or just need a break from sightseeing, Josefwiese is the perfect place to pause and feel like a local. And it literally just minutes from Hardbruke station.

Josefwiese is a very nice park near Hardbrücke. It’s a good place to hang out in the grass with tasty restaurants nearby. There are , of course, many families and children at the playground so it’s perhaps not the best place to relax, if you intend to take a nap in the sunshine😌

Amazing park with the best ping pong area - large grassy field, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.

Great place to come with kids, though not as pleasant as before after filling all playgrounds with sawdust. If you are coming with baby on a busy weekend, it can be long waiting time for swings as there are only 2 suitable for kids under 2 years old and they are always busy. But there is a nice sand playground (now party dirty with sawdust) and some fountains to run through for kids. A slide can be extremely hot during summer days as is is not enough shadow there. But on colder days it is a lot of fun.

Very nice place to relax, with large meadow and shadows provided by trees. Now it's a bit hot and the sunshine may be too strong, but staying under the shadow would just be fine. Many good cafes are also nearby. So the adults can have a drink while watching the kids playing in the ground.

Peaceful park in the center of a residential neighborhood. Near the train line, busy in nice weather, people playing ping pong, volleyball , and pétanque.

Loved this area. We ended up getting a couple of lattes and just hanging out here & relaxing. Tons of shops nearby too!

Yelp
Yet another cool place to hang out in Zurich! Or rather, the middle of Kreis 5. There are plenty of tables and benches to relax in, whether you're watching your kids play in the fountain, enjoying a beer, ice cream, or dinner. Boyfriend and I came in the evening and had a bratwurst and grilled chicken with salad. They had three options for salad- chickpea salad with herbs, macaroni, or tabouli. The chicken was delish and the salads were light, healthy, and also delish! I love this area, because it's right by the Viadukt, so you can go shopping before, grab a drink here, and then get dinner at a fancier place, or stay here! The options are endless, and THIS GIRL likes options. You can even wander over to Garold's Garden, or the Prime tower! Or take a train somewhere else! So much to do. The location is wonderful. If the seating is taken up, feel free to lounge in the grass. There's usually room, and as Sebastien said, watch out for kids kicking balls. :D

Yelp
A family park in the middle of Kreis 5 !!! This park is ideal for families, groupes or just to be alone. There is a playground for kids next to the kiosk. And a area with water where kids love to play. It is not really a swimming pool but nice enough to play in. At the kiosk you can have a drink (soda's, coffee, tee, beer) and small things to eat ( a salad, wurst, etc...) At the park you also have the pétanque association, and very popular in summer. Also space to play beach volley ball and ping pong. At the evening and weekends the park get crowded with young people, family, couples, groups, etc. And most of them are BBQ'ing. Pay attention, kids are playing around with balls :) I especially like the park because it is a very nice and quite. It is the extension of my balcony :) A small remark, the staff is not always friendly in the Kiosk. And by night when it gets darker bring candles with you !!!

Yelp
Adorable spot in the middle of the park. So glad I found it! Very homegrown feel. Serves coffee, range of teas, wine and more. I came here with my laptop and enjoyed the sun while sipping their homemade lemonade. Great spot to chill. Cool part of this neighborhood right behind the train tracks/arches.
