Jost Vineyards

Okay so, I would give it a five but the seating was awful. Had to wait for a table because the tables sat 6-8 people and and they had diners of two seated at them. Definitely need to break up the tables as anything for less than 6 people was limited. Wine amazing, staff. Amazing. Vineyard beautiful grounds and the North shore of my beautiful province of Nova Scotia is a must see. Love Jost. Food was a 10.

Very comfortable surroundings! Wine tasting experience fantastic! I would have preferred to have had a seat-there are none at the bar. Exemplary explanation of wines and grapes. Do you know Jost owns Gaspereaux and Mercator Vineyards?

Took a picturesque drive to Jost. We sampled the newest wine and headed to the Cafe. We had the brushetta and the seafood chowder, both were absolutely delicious, the server was great. Honestly I am not a chowder person, but this was so light and creamy with whole shrimp and scallops. Never disappointed. Great afternoon.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!! What an absolutely beautiful vineyard & winery! So happy got a chance to see it. Sampling of course the best part. Didn’t have much room to bring things back in suitcase so bought a bottle for family we were staying with. This place is magical!

Went for a wine tasting (6 of us) & a bite to eat 2 weeks ago. Nick was very attentive & went out of his way to welcome us. The wines were very good & the food was excellent. We all had the seafood chowder which was very yummy & the seafood gluten free pizza which was delicious. All staff were pleasant & helpful & addressed any questions we had. Will definitely go back again when visiting Nova Scotia next time.

Beautiful vineyards, cafe, and shop. Service is fantastic and the food is delicious. We enjoyed the wine tasting as the server was knowledgeable and friendly. We walked around the property afterward, and it made for an exceptional lunch date.

Nice vineyard to stop by. They do free, complimentary tastings (small pours) of up to 3 per person. The wine was decent and it was nice to enjoy with some food options they had on the menu. The staff are really friendly, helpful, and funny. There's both seating indoor and outdoor, and the outdoor area is beautiful with all of the seating available and extensive vineyards.

Wine was good. Service is Meh. You can taste up to 3 wines and they have a large variety. Pretty grounds. It's a no go if you have kids.

A fall visit at the winery, where we opted to sample some of the new blends that the winery offered. There is a small cost for the samples, and they are on 1 sip size. Not the most generous of the wineries in NS. However, you do get a wide variety to sample. The main store area also includes some local products such as cheese and other items that would go well with a selected wine. Always count on a sale or special, different volume formats that you don't see in the NSLC. We didn't visit the grounds or did any tours. As a note, if you are travelling from Tatagamouche side, it is shorter to drive towards the Wallace side entry (it may not seem like it but it is)

Last summer I went with my family for a tour of the Jost Vineyards. Jost is located near Tatamagouche, NS - approximately 2 hours outside of Halifax and is known for being Nova Scotia's biggest winery. During our tour, we were allowed to sample any Jost wine that we wanted for free, and we got to see the acres upon acres of land where the grapes are grown, as well as how the wine is made. Indoors, we were taken down into the basement where the wine making process takes place and then had the option afterwards of purchasing a bottle of wine at a very reasonable price.

This was a fantastic experience. Dan is extremely knowledgeable about wines. We bought a bottle of Great big Friggin Red. Pleasantly surprised about the great tasting food as well.

Loved the winery, loved nearly every wine we tasted. Food looked amazing but we were only there for the wine tasting and had eaten earlier. My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Nova Scotia and ended up bringing back to Ontario 2 cases of Jost wines. Tasting the Big Freaking Red and the Tidal Bay is a must. Wines were the same price at the vineyard as at NSLC, but still worth the visit to the vineyard for the tasting.

Really nice spot a long drive but worth it. Great red wines and fair whites really enjoyed the overall experience however the staff was not very educated in the wines they were serving and rushed us through a normally long process of a tasting! There were no wine list with descriptions for us to really pin point the notes and our staffer had no real info to give us so that was a little disappointing but I m still loving my wine every night!

Full discolsure ive been here probably about a dozen times already lol first time i thought id review it. We got there pretty late so it was close to closing time and that meant "hey, the later we stay here the less people will be here." and that was true, good thing because there were loud kids next to us and looked to me like they ate pie or something even though theres no pie on the menu. Can you spell sugar rush. Anyway they were loud and there parents did not seem to care but thats not the ladys fault who served us. She was nice. There was something sticky on the table and she cleaned not only where the sticky spot was but also the WHOLE table. Great service. Just had a beer so I know what you're thinking, your at a winery have some wine! I've had the wine before and its pretty good but I dont know much about wines.

Yesterday, a group of 18 went to Jost Vineyards for a day of laughter, wine and a delicious meal!!! Great company, beautiful venue and amazing food/wine was the experience we sought. One of their tag lines which really spoke to me was "Come for the wine. Stay for the experience!" A group of 18 can be loud, just by sheer numbers, add to that we all have been busy and really excited about our day and being together!!! We arrived at Jost Vineyards a 1/2 a hour early so we could enjoy the landscape, architecture, wine and do some shopping. We were met by a scowling, surly server who immediately told us "we were too early." There was no smile or welcome but a sense of "ohhh no are we in trouble." Some of the group ordered wine and we all shared our own experiences with products and made suggestions. 18 people create noise, laughter and conversations were everywhere. We took up space, no doubt about it! We could be heard... I am sure. The server scowled at us the entire time we were inside. A few of us sat in the club chairs and an employee with a very welcoming smile came over and introduced herself as our tour guide. She was authentic and genuine. I told her how much I appreciated her warmth and hospitality as we didn't receive any up to this point. She was gracious. She was how you would want your company to be recognized. We went outside for our tour that had been set up as a group tour. We arrived to see a lovely young couple from Ontario and to be joined by three others for the tour. Our group of 18 who were chatting, laughing, and in our own world and thought it would just be us as we had booked we're now apologizing to the others. Neither group (us or other tour people) did anything wrong just not the Jost experience either signed up for. Fast forward to our meal experience. Prior to the tour we had checked out menus and made decisions on what we would like to order. (July 2nd our tour and reservations were booked and no restrictions were given.) We are shown to two tables for our group with 6 being in direct sun exposure. Our server was very frustrated from the beginning with a large group. His aggression and tone was very unwelcoming and very off putting. Upon passing out the menus our group became very chatty and lots of people speaking to each other and to him. Immediately, we noticed that it was a different menu and one of our top choices for a meal was no longer an option. This of course led to questions. Is this a different menu... first time we were told NO. Then it changed to Not for a group. No further explanation. Most were curious and wanted to know why. More Questions. At this point, the aggressive server yelled at us to SHUT UP. I need for anyone reading this to understand that he actually YELLED at us to SHUT UP. Very aggressively he told us that we needed to be quiet so he could hear us and we could hear him. 24 HOURS later I am still in shock at being yelled at by an employee of Jost Vineyards. I immediately left the area and walked away from the table in complete shock that this occurred. I spoke to our tour guide inside and asked if there was a manager. I started speaking with manager and another person from the group came in as well to speak with someone in charge over the complete disrespect offered to our group and to the Jost company being represented by this individual. We decided to take a deep breath and try and enjoy our meals. We rejoin the group. At this point to be told that they are running out of menu selections. So we again had to go and change our choices. The food arrival was very efficient and timely as well as delicious. The chef did a fantastic job with taste and presentation. Our group then decided to have coffee and dessert. The option was afforded to us as the bills arrived. We then explained to our eye rolling, scowling server that we wanted coffee and dessert. This again set off more eye rolling and a toss of the head. A few minutes later a different server brought out two plates of brownies with cream and a bit of fresh fruit as an apology to our group. We each received a 1/4 piece of brownie for our treatment. The coffee or choices of desserts never happened. We went inside where the food and beverage manager spoke to the group about what occurred. It never felt sincere, authentic or genuine from my perspective. The chef was behind the bar listening and he was very authentic and a good ambassador for Jost in his customer service along with his fantastic cooking. In making the complaints, I feel that suggestions on improving should be offered or at least what should have occurred. 1. A sign outside that says "Quiet area... whispers only." 2. If with large group, please enter 3-4 at a time and remember rule #1. 3. Food preparation- Jost was aware of having two groups of 18 arriving at same time for meals yet ran out of portions along with having a menu with limited options. Not great planning

For the second time I have received terrible counter service at this winery. The last time it happened I filed a complaint and was assured it would not happen again. Today (Nov.1, 2016) I received the same rude, indifferent service at the purchase counter. Clearly the staff do not care about service. There are plenty of other wineries -and I will not be returning to Jost again.

If you're travelling along the Sunrise Trail, Jost is worth a visit. There's a newly renovated building for sampling product and shopping for wine. Nice selection of wines and I've always been pleased with what I buy here. The building and it's facilities are not handicapped outfitted (no power assisted doors, washrooms are small, etc).

Cuvée Blanc my best Christmas surprise. I love Chablis, especially with oysters. Problem is it is a bit pricey. Recently while at Billy's Seafood Restaurant in Saint John the server said they didn't have any Chablis but made a recommendation and offered me a glass of another product but only as a blind tasting . I loved it and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was Jost and half the price. At the NSLC under $15. 00 a bottle! Over Christmas I also used the opportunity to "blind taste" while entertaining and met with the same "wow" from the table. Congrats to Jost I will be buying more and recommend it to you.
