Great place for brunch. The menu is very extensive, with all day breakfast and all day lunch menus for whatever appetite.

FANTASTIC! The food is phenomenal. The setting is also outstanding; new but not so modern that it's lacking in character, with a little greenery that gives an entirely positive vibes. My wife and I visited Journeyman for brunch, not expecting much but we were blown away by how good everything was. I had the special, a Brisket Benedict that was just sensational. My wife had the chilli scramble. We normally have no problem deciding who chose the best mean but on this occasion we left thinking both were unbeatable. Do yourself a favour and get down there.

Really sad that I spent $30 on what I thought was smashed avocado but it was basically hummus on toast with a side of brown stale avocado not even smeared on the toast. Really sick of Paying for breakfast that I don’t even eat that is not fresh I don’t understand in Chapel Street you have such a opportunity to be busy and make heaps of money but with this kind of quality I’m just not sure how you survive. The cookie with the coffee was a nice touch but it doesn’t make up for my stale hummus on toast. It was clear that the hummus was the same brand that I get from Coles and then they obviously put this on the toast to save money and then put a tiny bit of avocado on the side. Horrible horrible worst way to start my day. The staff are lovely but again Doesn’t make up for the quality of the food you can literally get better in the inner suburbs

We had such a nice time in this place. Molly gave us the best service ever, all her suggestions were right to the point. 10/10

Today, I came to this café for lunch and a nice coffee on a friend's recommendation, and I’m really glad I listened to them. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere—it was warm and welcoming—and the staff were incredibly respectful and kind. After having my coffee and lunch, I felt I had to leave a comment and recommend this place to others as well. I genuinely enjoyed the time I spent here. Thank you for the great service!

Came here today around lunchtime. I had a decaf coffee which was lovely and my friend had some avocado toast she also enjoyed. The Irish guy who served us was so kind and lovely. Amazing staff :) thank you.

Great spot, with an amazing atmosphere and almost refuge from the bustle of Chapel St. The service was great, and the chicken burger was just perfect. Helpful staff, even though I was really ill.

Yelp
Stopped in here for brunch one day with a group of 8 and we were sat within 30 minutes during peak brunch hours. They were busy but so accommodating even without a reservation! I got the pork belly Benedict that included a maple hollandaise, spinach and Granny Smith apples! Such a big portion and usual cost for a benny! My friends got several different items like scrambled eggs, nourish bowls and avocado toast! So delish! Deffo recommend if you're in the chapel st. area!

Yelp
Every time i come here, its a hit and miss. Great food always, coffee is hit & miss. But some rude staff & the last time i was here they took 30mins to bring out my food :( I keep coming back as the food is really amazing But they really need to improve on service & teach some of the staff to lose the attitude.

Yelp
Super popular brunch place but the food was excellent. Coffee was out of this world. Staff was kind. Would definitely return next time I'm in the Windsor area!

Yelp
This is the place I go for breakfast when I'm in Melbourne. Great food, good coffee, what more can a man want. ;-)

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite brunch location! I've dined in twice & gotten take away heaps and have yet been disappointed. It is always busy but for good reason so be ready to put your name on a list of dining in. The coffee is superb every time and cannot go wrong with any main you choose. I recommend the persian fetta potato croquette or Melbourne's favorite (and usually mine too), the smashed avo! The croissants are delicious as well. Highly recommended and a must add to your list of places to go for brunch!! Highlights -best place for coffee & brunch -amazing presentation -exposed brick interior -champagne & OJ available to mix to make your own mimosa -takeaway available -outdoor seating with heaters -off chapel st

Yelp
What can I say about Dukes that already hasn't been said. I regard this place as one of the best of the best. The baristas are experienced and you can tell they take their job seriously. I love sitting by the counter watching them do their work with love. So meticulous. Food, oh the food.. wonderful. Being so popular, Dukes is very busy and loud but it is a must visit on your list of 'Great Coffee Places to visit' Please go there and take a sneaky look at those baristas.

Yelp
With banging coffee, an interesting brunch menu and super friendly and efficient staff Dukes gets my thumbs up as a great all rounder. The bircher muesli is loaded with cinnamon and apple and for $10 is a great way to get through the morning. But let's get more serious and talk about the Avo and Hummus toast. There's obviously some avo going on, but then throw on a poached egg, some big chunks of candied bacon and sprinkle the whole mess with dukkah. Good lord, my mouth is in rapture whenever I eat this.

Yelp
Best coffee in Windsor. Period. (Read below for food.) And...Finally, I decided to put my thoughts about this place on Yelp. I love this place. I love its atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. The place can get a little bit loud during peak hours, but overall it is a nice environment to sit down and enjoy your drink. Back as a student in my Swinburne days, Dukes (Journeyman) provided my caffeine fix for all of my Uni life. Years later as a Windsor local, the consistency of the coffee is still the same, so they are still providing caffeine for my blood stream. How cool is that? BUT, what about the food? OK. Mind you, the rating above is just for coffee. Since Dukes became Journeyman (By the way, I loved Dukes' branding and I find Journeyman name pretty hipster-ish), the management has changed, and its menu became unstable. I am not sure if it is the management's or chef's idea (apparently it is under chef's control), they removed my favourite items on the menu to replace with weird ones. I remember I ordered a piece of banana bread and instead received two banana breads on top of each other washed with some syrup and some cream with parsley on the top. I mean, what the hell. Also, blueberry pancakes are gone, even that menu item - which was my favourite, don't judge - fish finger sandwich is gone after a short time. If you are hungry, my only recommendation will be baked beans with feta. If you want to treat yourself, add a poached egg on top of it. There you go! You cannot go wrong with it, can you? Oh by the way, before I forget, if you are not a fan of baked beans, don't forget to check out the fridge for other delicious selection of sandwiches or sausage rolls. Fridge items are not on the menu you will be handed. Last minute tip delivered, I'm off.

Yelp
Unique food offering with quality ingredients. Absolutely delicious, all of it. The coffee is as good as it gets. Second best coffee in Melbourne after Dukes...;)

Yelp
I honestly can't talk this place up enough. I came for the coffee, but will return for the food. I went with my sister and 1 year old niece. The staff were super quick and friendly. Considering it was a Saturday at brunch, we only waited 10 minutes if that for a table. The menu isn't massive, but what they do cook, they do amazingly well. It was nice to see things like truffles and duck eggs on the menu. Something a bit special and different from just eggs bennedict. Reasonable prices considering it's a trendy Chapel Street venue. I will be going back here again that's for sure!

Yelp
Dukes is right near my UNI and that's where I get my coffee/chai fix. I've never eaten there but decided to give it a shot the other day. The menu looks delicious and I was tossing between the corn fritters and fish tacos. I went for the tacos as a semi healthier option. When it came out, it looked delicious but sadly it didn't taste as good as it looked. Everything was really fresh but there was no taste explosion in my mouth... Even after squeezing lime and adding salt. The mayo was nice and creamy but without a strong taste, same as the fish. Disappointing :( I would still go back and try something else and possibly leave ordering tacos when I go to Mexican restaurants!

Yelp
So I've finally gotten around to reviewing journeyman. So I'll make this as quick as possible. For many months I would take my mother for a delightful quiet stroll along chapel street, listening to the songs of birds, motor bikes and Holden commodores. Ahh humans, how we ostentatiously love to flaunt our capabilities to ...rev engine between intersections? Anyway, I digressed! I had a long night and studied all day yesterday because of exams next week. So the coffee, it's good! It's not great, or amazing as other reviews have so wonderfully expressed, but it is good. Can't complain to be honest. Their downfall and redemption came in the form of their food. First dish I had was the egg benedict, its plain. I love how it read on the menu but eating it was a huge let down. What I think makes it worse is I know they know. They mask it with shredded apple, as to change the flavour, spicy it up so to speak. Because the hollandaise sauce is so damn boring!! Like zero kick. Complete lack of care. Apple doesn't fix shit!! AND ITS CLEAR YOU DONT CARE ABOUT IT BY USING THE SHREDDED APPLE!!! Actually made me annoyed because the menu had built my hopes so nice with those fancy words ("the cake is a lie" - video game reference for those who know). Anyway the second trial was the crispy chicken burger. It too sounded wonderful. And thankfully it was. It was spicy (actually spicy, not figuratively), easy to eat, not over bearing and tastes as it sounds... or written. That save them from my hangry rage. That and the service from the staff was very friendly and kind hearted. Thumbs up! So would I come back, well on average the wait is between 10-30 minutes. Too long I feel for the quality of food vs. the amount of competition for the area. I'd come back if I walked passed and noticed some seats free, however I wouldn't wait. Easy three stars, good work lads and ladies be proud.

Yelp
As there's so much positive stuff said surrounding this place, my friend and I were a little enthusiastic but hesitant not to get our hopes up but as soon as we ventured inside and saw the exceptionally cool and on-trend interior and the state of the art coffee machines and bean roasters we immediately got excited! We ended up having 2 coffees each, with the Hachira espresso being our first choice. It was rich and fragrant and oh-so-amazing! Our second coffee was the Nekisse with notes of blackberry and a perfectly smooth taste. We gave their corn fritters a try and they also were incredible! We will be back again and again for the coffee!

Yelp
I was on Chapel St yesterday and decided to try Dukes. I had read quite a few good things online about this place but I didn't realise it would live so highly up to its reputation. The baristas are like crazy scientist as they swirl an elixir so good that you think to yourself, is this really coffee. I don't want to discount in any way what goes on in the kitchen because they also so some amazing work. I ordered the saltbush lamb which was cooked to perfection. I was expecting a little more but at the same time was very satisfied. I must say though that I was very surprised to find a café of this calibre on Chapel St. Lately I have not come here as much as I used to but now that I know about Dukes I might be here more often.

Yelp
As of writing, I really like Dukes. That said, I've been here several times and it's definitely possible to have a dud experience. My advice is to go during non-peak times and think carefully before having a second coffee... it's about twice as strong as a hit anywhere else so you can easily get a bit jittery. What I do love here are the ham and cheese toasted sandwiches (I opt gluten-free) and their house-made beans. Delish. My husband swears they have Melbourne's best ham and cheese croissants. Definitely worth a pit stop.
google avatar

Sally P.

Yelp
I've had some hit and miss experiences at Dukes, having been several times now. The fit out is lovely and modern, if not a bit squishy. Most of the tables leave you feeling like you'll be elbowing your neighbour or are in the way of waiters/patrons/the door. For a place that is supposed to specialise in coffee, again my experience has been inconsistent. I am no coffee snob, but I know when Im really not enjoying my beverage. This has happened to me here. The food is a lovely lunchtime option though, with several sandwiches and breakfast options. The ingredients they use are fresh and high quality, so that even something like a simple piadina with buffalo mozzarella, basil and tomato is a delight. Its somewhat disappointing that they choose to get some of their pastries from a mass wholesaler - a place like this would certainly suit gourmet and homemade product.

Yelp
Journeyman Cafe's roots run deeply into the established Specialty Cafe scene in Melbourne. Once Dukes Coffee Roasters, an icon of Chapel Street, and a staple amongst the locals of Windsor and Prahran, it was here that the Specialty Coffee Roaster shaped their identity, and forged their reputation. Featuring a gorgeous industrial sun-lit interior, the hall and the table we were seated at was honestly a photographers dream, as natural lighting and food photography go hand in hand. Promptly after our arrival we were told that the kitchen was actually a few minutes away from closing, talk about a close call since a handful of patrons came in right after us and were unfortunately rejected. With limited time to decide, we decided to opt for the Beetroot Cured Salmon and the Chilli Scrambled Eggs The Beetroot Cured Salmon was an amazing dish, essentially a salad, the dish also featured organic quinoa, avocado, chilli and kale salad, poached eggs, feta & herbs. Showcasing an abundance of ingredients, I was overwhelmed as the portion of the salad was enormous. The cured salmon was simply delicious and each ingredient synergized well with each other. The feta added an amazing flavour which enhanced the overall components of the salad and really made it far more delicious. The Chilli Scrambled Eggs, was an absolute delightful dish. Presented beautifully on a serving pan, it featured smoked tomato, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and baguette. the eggs were soft, fluffy and tasted amazing. The smoked tomatoes were nicely done and the buffalo mozzarella and baguette combo tasted amazing. Unfortunately there was barely any chilli / the kick which I had expected from a 'chilli' dish. Accompanying the dishes we got the Iced Chocolate and Iced Coffee, both were quite average and provided a nice touch with our dishes. Yelp
This place was so delicious. The flavors were very unique and there was more than enough food per plate. The waitress we had was this cute Argentinian girl who also made our experience great!
google avatar

Brendan M.

Yelp
This cafe was a current fav however I'm not one to support a business if they don't value their regulars! Disappointing when the older waitress was rather moody and snappy on my last visit. The food is consistent with other options on the strip so I'm surprised by other reviews claiming a unique find! The Prahran/Windsor area is filled with competitive option and this place doesn't stand out! The atmosphere is rather dark and dingy which is another turn off!
google avatar

Yelp
smashed avo with the added specialty which was honey bacon and a superb espresso! One hell of a way to start the morning in sunny Melbourne.

Yelp
Delicious! I can't believe the attention to detail at this place. Loved it and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Best coffee by far - always consistently great breakfast! It gets really busy pretty much everyday of the week, but is well worth the weight
google avatar

Jonny M.

Yelp
My BF and I ordered the potato cakes and corn fritters. Both were nice enough but certainly had much better other places. The food wasn't really hot enough. The strangest thing though was the side of bacon we both ordered. Not realising that it was basically a bowl of 1cm diced cubes of bacon that was quite dry and chewy. Other reviewers obviously love this - but I feel it should've been highlighted to us a bit more.. We def didn't need a bowl each!! However the almond milk flat white was really good. Lots of baristas f@#k up almond milk - so the coffee takes this place from 3 stars to 4. I'd def go back.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best breakfast places on Chapel St, so worth the 20min wait. The food is delicious and healthy. Good pricing and awesome atmosphere too... Highly recommended it

Yelp
Brunch is a Melbourne tradition, but not all places get it right. While prices here are pretty standard (trending to the high side) Journeyman surprised me with its generous serving portion sizes and delicious options. I had the chilli scrambled eggs and my wife the potato croquette dish. Bothe were delicious and the plates were totally empty! A great experience and we'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
With smoking coffee, eclectic mix of breakfasts and lunches and a cake display to melt the most hardened souls, Journeyman rocks. I came here early for business meeting. Soy latte was smooth and creamy. The poached eggs on toast with mushrooms, dukkah and caramelised bacon is worth crossing town for. The staff are friendly. I had to double check I was actually in Prahran I'm calling it - one of the best places to have breakfast/lunch/saturated fat in Prahran.

Angeline L.

Yelp
I came here when it was called Dukes & I've had some pretty ambitious but #failwhale dishes : Duck egg on English muffin in a aioli mousse. Rock hard candied pancetta cubes. Shiraz jus on egg & field mushrooms. All enticed on paper but fell flat on the plate. The coffee though was always good and still is. Now under the new moniker Journeyman - which I think is less catchy than Dukes - the menu seems to have been spring cleaned of these "kitchen overreach" tendencies. A welcome change. We split the rockling burger - crumbed fat fillets with tartare sauce, dill, capers & alfalfa in a not too sweet roll. Delicious! And also the crispy pork croquettes on English muffins with bernaise sauce & apple slices. The pork was very tasty but not at all crispy, and the bernaise was too much of a good thing. Nonetheless very bloody yummy. Journeyman is a stalwart of the prahran brunch crew and I'm up for another visit. There are scrumptious looking sweet treats too that I will definitely be hitting up in a not too distant future.

Yelp
I have to admit that I love cafes where I can order any random item from the menu and BOOM it turns out to be amazing. I have been here quite a few times and consistently have been amazed by their coffee, customer service and just plain good fresh food that is made to order not frozen for an amount of 14 years. The last time I had this fruit salad (although they had a very fancy name which actually made the salad look good) needn't be said that it was so carefully fresh that if it came any more amazingly fresh it could've still been on the tree or on the rows in the farm. Amazing So seriously, this is a can not go anything wrong place and I know you'll love it, I love it and so do a lot of other people.
google avatar

Maurie H.

Yelp
Always busy, for a reason..the excellent coffee, and best quality produce used in all their meals, never dissapoints. I'd eat more often but the word has been out for quite some time now, and it's always packed. The simple, but always perfect, Goats Cheese omlette is my stand-out favourite.
google avatar

Scott A.

Yelp
So after asking the masses on Facebook one morning where a great local place for breakfast and coffee would be... The resounding favourite was dukes...... From the start service was very slack and not overly warm. The staff didn't seem to have sections or have any joy at being there lol, there also seemed to be a lack of that overpoweringly intoxicating smell of roasting coffee that sweeps you off your feet in your favourite coffee house :( The menu was an offering of poached eggs with honey candied bacon and avo mash with dukah, a play on eggs bene with pulled pork croquets on muffins with cider hollandaise along with some other sinfully tempting delights. But I have to say as amazing as everything looked it lacked any wow factor for me... The coffee roast/flavour was nothing special and the food though amazingly presented with utmost aesthetic appeal wasn't overly memorable flavour wise. The search continues 5/10

Yelp
Duke's Coffee Roasters is a coffee hub in classy Windsor/Prahran. Walk in and feel the love immediately. So warm and embracing. It's a hub for locals and continues to be highly popular despite so many nouveau coffee joints opening up in the area. As a roaster Duke's Coffee Roasters sets the bar when it comes to premium coffee. They take their coffee seriously. Here on a Tuesday around 11am the place is packed with moi getting the last table. Conversation is loud with the Prahran set in full swing. Super popular. It's not as if it's a small cafe - the space is quite large and deep. This is a "cafe's cafe". The fit out is modern with the popular Melbourne timber and exposed brick look, along with mosaic gungy concrete floor and semi industrial roof. Lighting creates mood with spotlights and lamps. Natural light is provided by large windows and a skylight (still on the dim side further back in the cafe). The tables are quality timber and one is impressed by the large communal table with heavy timber bench seating. Duke's Coffee Roasters is not just a coffee specialist. The food here is celebrated and of consistent quality with an extensive menu. Menu highlights include the Poached eggs with sides, Eggs Benedict, Baked beans, Muesli, Dukes Breakfast and Buttermilk Pancakes. I ordered the Smoked leg ham (istra I think) and cheese toasted sandwich and a pour over of El Salvador extraction. The pour over was sensational with intense flavour and at a reasonable price of $4. The sandwich was also excellent with quality smoked ham and cheese. The baristas are top notch and wield the power of some fine coffee equipment. Staff are friendly and professional. Being welcomed at the door is a good thing. Duke's Coffee Roasters gives the punters what they want and more. A keeper.

Yelp
Following my stop at LuxBite in South Yarra we walked 2.2km through the heart of Prahran via Chapel Street and found the entrance to Dukes Coffee Roasters near High Street on the border of Windsor. Summer, Sunday mornings and televised cricket matches have encouraged me to eat a balanced breakfast mainly in order to prepare myself to scream and shout about Micheal Clarke's frivolities as he runs between wickets in the afternoon so this seemed to be a suitable stop. I was rather hungry by the time I got to Windsor by foot. I knew that Dukes was a popular place and a bit of a haunt for the locals in the area however I was very pleased that people were not spilling out of the restaurant and onto the footpath and ecstatic that there were a few seats free. I was even happy to take up residence at one of the communal tables near the front of the place in order to keep an eye on the wayward souls that roam Chapel Street however the newspaper and the attentive service would ultimately thwart my nosiness. Quietly happy that the morning had evolved into the afternoon and despite Dukes offering an all-day breakfast on the weekends (they close at 4:00 PM) I got stuck into the lunch menu. Secretly I was pleased that I did not have adhere to best practices for my body and instead ordered a Cuban pulled pork sandwich and some coffee. The name of the business says it all. Besides selling food and drink, they also produce coffee and flog bags of beans. The wood and steel industrial ambiance with exposed ceilings and the benefit of air conditioning provides a working backdrop when you visit and the fresh flowers scattered on various tables is a nice touch. Although the place remained consistently busy with a soundtrack playing that was barely audible over the buzz, the service operated like a well maintained BMW M3. You get the pleasure of making the acquaintance of multiple members of service as each one apparently serves a specific role. One fills water, one takes your order, one delivers beverages, one delivers food and a different one will bring the bill. The last time I saw so many people attend to our needs, which frankly were quite basic and banal, was at Jacques Reymond. Everything fit into place and was good enough that I would stop around if I am in the area again to reacquaint myself with service and their coffee. Although Dukes has alcohol on offer, we decided to suppress our thirst and instead retreat to the Lucky Coq Bar, which is a few metres away instead.

Yelp
Excellent food and coffee, always busy on weekends so be sure to arrive early and put your name down so you get a table!

Yelp
These guys do a mean breakky and their coffee is pretty awesome. Love their open kitchen so you can see through and walking past the guys roasting coffee at the back is always cool. Seems to be always busy, but love the hustle and bustle. It's the place we go to be seen and people watch. It's fun. Love the staff here - totes professional. x

Yelp
Wow ! After 3 weeks without a good coffee (this is madness) I decided to go there for a quick brunch and a fix of this delicious nectar. The fix was so good (house blend, long black) that I decided to go for another shot (Ethiopia Guji, long black) and no overdose here. Just a wonderful feeling of knowing you're having some great GREAT coffee. I had food as well (obviously) and went for the hummus avocado toast, tasty, great poached egg, nomnomnom. Ended with a fig/honey/walnut muffin which was absolutely perfect. Nuff said

Yelp
Definitely the real deal. A great place. Exceptional breakfast. Lovely modern space. Great staff. Little else needed. I asked if the beans were large enough having had a few thimble sized ones around town that left me hungry. I received an appropriate assurance that the serve here is "huge". This was accurate. The serve here is ample and it's a very moorish dish. My request to change sough dough to seeded bread (remember that Harvard study) and add bacon for a few dollars was easily negotiated. (I'd ask the Il Melagrano people to take very close note at this point. You get one miserly slice of bacon for $5 there, but a very generous five smoky slices here for the same price. This is how it's done). My companion loved his avo smash too. It looked enormously fetching. We even rebelled in the glorious retroness of a Minchinbury sparkling which tasted rather good to our surprise. We loved it here. This is a very classy and well run place that deserves its high rating.

Vincent F.

Yelp
This place is always super busy on weekends but if you are willing to stick it out there's some great coffee and food on offer. It is a pretty big place with good music playing and friendly staff and a good spot for brunch in a place with a lot of competition. Recommended for a weekend brunch, my advice is to go slightly later and it gets much quieter after peak time.
google avatar

Jeany L.

Yelp
One of the most popular brunch destinations in the area and can get quite busy on the weekend. Had been a fan of their coffee and eggs benedict. Superb.
google avatar

Angelo P.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but I just felt the coffee on the particular day I visited was quite sub par. Definitely not a bad to stop by on but can't recommend this place from my last visit down. The food was pretty average too.

Alecia M.

Yelp
There is a reason this place is so popular, its because its so damn good!! Food is amazing, Coffee is Brilliant and the service is good. Want a table?, then get in early. This place is full most of the time, so be smart about when you head down to Journeyman. Its worth the wait anyway.
google avatar

Cailey S.

Yelp
Very good place to drop in and have a bite to eat. I recommend the chicken sandwich and the spanakopita. The coffee is very nice to. Very good service and overall a good restaurant.

Yelp
I'd heard wonderful things about the coffee at Dukes, but living on the other side of the Maribyrnong means I don't get out to Prahran as much as I'd like to. We finally dropped in here late one afternoon before catching a flick at The Astor. Holy crap: The short black at Dukes was probably the best I've had in Melbourne and I drink a lot of coffee. I'm a veritable fiend for the bean and I do get around. This was a smooth, complex, yet balanced cup and it was pulled to perfection. The crema was outstanding; rich and flavourful. I can't say anything about the food because I didn't eat. Can't say anything about the decor because my head was so busy being blown by the superior cup of joe that to check out the surrounds. All I can say is that the coffee is serious. If you are a coffee obsessive then get thee to Chapel Street.

Yelp
Had an amazing Panama Esmerelda pourover for $8. Now, you may be asking how an $8 coffee can ever get 5 starts. The floral tones on the boquet and the subtle fruit flavors were more like drinking a fine wine than a cup of coffee. My wife's latte was superbly well made. Excellent almond coissant. If you're willing for a splurge on coffee, this is the place.

Yelp
Dropped in for a coffee this morning and although the place was pumping and waiters run off their feet, the coffee was great and the waiters super friendly. Definitely heading back for a meal some time soon!

Yelp
This is one of the best coffee place in the winter as they have full heating outside and the waiter from Canada Britney was super sweet and very attentive. I had the hard-to-mess-up eggs on toast and the eggs were cooked just right and the Multigrain bread was yummy. My wife had the bircher muesli which was not only very beautiful with fruits and flowers but also tasted good. It is for a simple coffee shop a great place to eat in this area. So for a smoker in winter looking for a good cup of coffee this is a must. The non smokers sit inside and the place is packed for a Friday morning. Enjoy

Yelp
this place would be great if you love eggs. their menu literally has eggs in every dish. and if you don't want them, well they charge you the same anyway! their attitude is terrible and the menu so limited. in this modern time, who doesn't have options at the ready for those who don't eat eggs? and that's not just vegans btw, plenty of people don't want to have eggs forced on them. not good enough esp for a place that pretends to be hip and relevant. fail. the only reason they get any stars at all is bc the waiter was lovely and sympathetic.

Yelp
Always hard to get a seat unless you are there before 10 on the weekend. The coffee is amongst the best in Melbourne, executing a perfect long black and latte, and their baked eggs are out of this world.

Yelp
Hit-and-miss My first visit to Dukes was AWESOME! I was well looked after, the staff were more than happy to entertain me and recommend menu items and coffee blends to suit my tastes. The fritters were epic. They were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, served with a decent whack of avocado and a delicious jam. The second time I visited the service was just as good, however my coffee was bad. I was really disappointed as previously it was spot on. I ordered the pancakes on my second visit and they were flat and heavy, which was a real let-down. I'll be back for a third round to see if they'll redeem themselves.

Yelp
One of the best cafes on Chapel St... coffee is always great and tastes really fresh. The ambiance of the place is fantastic, got a great vibe, I love the fact you can see the coffee and food being made. I've had the food a couple of times its good but I wouldn't say great.
