I literally love this place the food is so good and super flavorful. The service was so great, the man was extremely friendly and joyful. You have to come here!! You can also do karaoke for free and it’s byob! We got the Dan Dan noodles, blanket noodles w beef and soup dumplings

A very pleasant surprise here. Don’t let its name fool you as it serves a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes, mostly of Cantonese variety, but also some Update: we tried its steamed buns (小笼包) today at &19 for 16 of them. They were small, but very tasty. I like the. Better than the famous Ding Ta Fung (鼎泰丰) located all over the world. I also tried its chicken soup over rice. Once again, it was tasty, but it wasn’t soupy as advertised and it could use more chicken in this dish. As before, the food was good, but a bit on the pricy side. Shanghainese and Szechuan dishes. We had the ginger/onion chicken (similar to Hainan chicken) and beef with bitter melon. Both were very tasty and sizes were quite large. We will try its noodles on our next visit. The proprietor who also served as the cook was very friendly and efficient. A definitely worth future visits.

Amazing dumplings and noodles. Great vibe and service. Would definitely come again!

The food here is amazing. The service is amazing and the lady who runs the place is so sweet. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, which is their best seller (and for good reasons). It was so flavorful and the noodles are homemade, the sauce is amazing. Best I’ve ever had!!! She makes everything at the restaurant fresh as you order. The cucumber salad was so refreshing and the bamboo shoots had a nice sesame flavor. The spicy potatoes were very unique, she flash cooks them so it remains crunchy and the sauce wasn’t oily at all and so delicious. Highly recommend this place. It’s small so it’s easy to miss but definitely try this place.

The parking for the restaurant is tight and limited. The dining area is small and clean. The decor is simple. The service is pretty good and friendly. The food was pretty good. The soup dumpling was excellent. The Dan Dan noodle and beef noodle soup was tasty .

Is you like spicy noodles, Dan Dan, Beef, Flat this is the place they will give you from Level 0 to level 12!!! The taste is really good!! I like here better than another place starting with a Mi and ending in a An. BYOB Next time im trying Dim Sum and other chinese food.

Google
I honestly did not understand the hype behind this place. The noodles were soggy, the dumplings were tasteless, and the cucumber salad was weird and bland. As I'm reading these reviews, turns out the owner has changed. Service was nice but food was not good. Also, owner keeps the AC off. Was sweating eating my noodles.

Google
Amazing noodle quality! Lady owner makes all noodles and soups by herself. I choose 5 steps spicy (you can choose the spicy from 1 to 10) for my beef noodle. Soup is not too oily or too fat. I love it! The blanket noodle is so tender and soup is amazing. Don’t miss the ucumber salad. Especially lady is super nice. The small restaurant is so clean. We will visit again and try another menu. Vegetarian soup is available.

Yelp
Keep an eye out for this hole-in-the-wall noodle spot off of Kalākaua. There is a small parking lot with a few dedicated stalls up front making it super easy if it's not busy. Good thing all of the food came out as they were ready, since items like their fresh blanket noodles took longer to prepare (but def worth the wait). We started with their chicken wings which were lean on the meat but I think that made it easier to flash fry because they were so hot and crispy and still juicy! We also ordered their cucumber salad and eggplant salad-- I'd probably just go with the cucumber salad next time but both were good. For noodle dishes we went with the dan dan, ja jiang and the beef noodle soup but we subbed it for the blanket noodle for an extra $4. Hungry but also in the mood for karaoke? Come here!

Yelp
Just off King Street, Joy Cup Noodles embodies the essence of a no-frills Chinese eatery. The décor is minimal, almost an afterthought, but that's easily overlooked when the focus shifts to the food We opted for the blanket noodles and the beef noodle dish. The noodles were exceptional--chewy in just the right way, suggesting they might be freshly made in-house. The blanket noodles, wide and slightly irregular, soaked up the savory sauce, making each bite deeply satisfying. The beef in the noodle dish was tender and flavorful, complemented by a broth rich with layers of spices and aromatics The flavors were robust, hitting all the notes you'd hope for in authentic Chinese cuisine. Both dishes left a lasting impression, the kind that makes you contemplate a second round even when you're full Service, however, was a mixed experience. The person taking orders seemed overwhelmed by the crowd, resulting in a rushed and curt interaction. It wasn't until the initial rush subsided that he became more approachable and attentive Despite the service hiccup, Joy Cup Noodles delivers where it counts. If you're willing to navigate the peak-time chaos, the deeply flavorful dishes make it a worthwhile visit

Yelp
We used to come here a ton under the previous owner Lulu, but we stopped coming after she left. We have been wanting to do karaoke here for the longest time but COVID got in the way but we finally did it this past week-- apparently they juuuuust got it set back up a couple weeks ago and it's a great deal-- free karaoke and BYOB and order their bomb food off the menu. The new owner is super nice and hooked us up all night, was a great time.

Yelp
Very cute hidden restaurant that deserves more traction for their large portions, cheap eats, and extensive menu. Went in on a weekend evening and were the only ones visiting, received very sweet hands on service. Ordered soup dumplings that were buy one get one free in servings, filling the whole steam tray. Very good paired with the carrot dipping sauce on the side. Blanket noodles almost felt never ending with their giant size. Only dislike about this dish was the fact that it lacked meat and flavor, all that is included is a peanut like sauce with peanuts and veggies. Delicious but not too far fetched in terms of depth in the meal.

Yelp
Today I left work early so I met my sister and brother-in-law for lunch . We decided on Joy cup Noodles located next door to frog house and on Kalakaua Ave. Parking is limited although they have more parking in the back of building . We ordered their black pepper chickens wings along with shrimp canton and beef chow fun. Everything was ok the owner also gave use a free dessert Definitely need to come back and try something else .

Yelp
Joy Cup is the new iteration of Wah Kung Chinese restaurant, which was located in Mapunapuna. Michael, the owner, is starting from scratch. This location is a lot smaller than his previous restaurant. When we entered, he greeted us with a smile as we were just sitting down. "Long time no see" as he directed us to a larger table. He is basically a one man operation. As for the food, overall, what we ordered was good. There are a few differences in taste from the old restaurant. Thankful for us coming, he gave us a free vegetable dish and also surprised us with an ube ice cream dessert . Enjoy

Yelp
Joy Cup Noodles is located on Kalakaua Ave. According to it's owner of nine years, business has been slow. Occasionally, tourists would dine, but hardly any locals. So the owner assumed we were from the mainland. The restaurant is a bit small but clean, lighted and air conditioned. Although they serve dim sum and many other dishes, we ordered noodle dishes. Jia jiang dan dan mein topped with a lot of meat sauce and a handful of roasted whole peanuts. The owner said they don't add any spicy sauce. We add our own to our liking which is the Sriracha or chili pepper sauce. This dish was really good. Cold sesame paste noodles with roasted whole peanuts. This had a good amount of sesame paste although I would like a little more sauce to stick onto the noodles. Because it is cold noodles, this was refreshing and perfect to eat on this very hot day. Beef brisket look fun. I didn't try this dish but the feedback was good. Would have better with a little more beef brisket and tendon. Blanket noodle. This dish was just that with a little bit of sauce. The noodles were wide and soft, so soft that they broke apart when grabbing it. Still yummy. Hong Kong milk tea. They serve hot or iced, the latter a dollar more. It's not as strong as the milk tea served in Hong Kong but still delicious. Watermelon wedges. Owner served us complimentary watermelon wedges! And they were good size pieces! Wow. Owner was very happy to chat with us and served us. There are two parking stalls outside their shop and more around the building. They are on the busy Kalakaua street so they can be easily missed.

Yelp
was super excited to try bc reviews were so positive. but super disappointed. not bad not great. way overpriced for a little hole in the wall outside of Waikiki on Kalakaua. prompt efficient service. xiao long bao was good. beef noodles were a little greasy. salt & pepper chicken was ok. Small tight parking lot in front.

Yelp
This is a lowkey and casual restaurant with tasty Chinese food. Their menu consists of all the good Chinese food staples such as xiao long bao, many different styles and types of noodles, appetizers, special items, HK teas and coffee, etc. We ordered the xiao long bao because there's a promotion for buy one get one free of which ended up being 16 pieces. The soup in the xiao long baos was super flavorful and tasty. The skin was soft and perfect. It's one of the better ones that I've had in a while and it really hit the spot. We also got the dan dan noodles which wasn't the typical dan dan sauce that we know but it was really good. I was impressed by the food that we tried and will definitely come back next time to try their other items.

Yelp
This place was so hard to find. I passed it before i saw it. Its off of the busy Kalakaua Ave and theres not much of a parking lot in front so its easy to miss. They only have 3-4 parking spots out front. Luckily for us there wasn't anyone there at the time so it was easy. Theres not much about the restaurant ambience that is appealing, this is as hole in the wall as it gets for me but boy do they make it up with their food. The buy one get one on the soup dumplings (18 total) was a great deal and such good quality! Each dumpling was oozing with soup and the meat itself was a tender, sweet and salty. Their dan dan noodles also were really well done. They have a unique take on it. Feels kinda homey with the roasted peanuts and the noodles that are slightly on the overcooked side. For me it just feels right.

Yelp
Joy Cup Noodle Overall: *** Ok *** Food: *** Value: *** Menu: **** Ambiance: *** Service: ***** Parking: ** (just a few shared stalls) A fellow Yelp Elite recommended Joy Cup Noodles, so I gave it a try. They have had an ownership change. The person who served us said that he purchased the business 4 months ago. First, their noodles are excellent, as they are freshly made in-house daily. You then have a choice of meats, styles, sauces, etc. We tried their popular Dan Dan with Blanket Noodles. As you can see from the video, it was made with ground beef or pork, button mushrooms, spam (which surprised us), beans and a few other ingredients. While the noodles were excellent! Yelp
Here's some Mean Noodles... Looking for lunch on a Sunday afternoon though that this would be the perfect opportunity as the traffic isn't as crazy as it's located right on Kalakaua Ave just outside of Waikiki. The building is the typical old school small single story which shares with a few other tenants but does have a couple dedicated parking stall right in front of the restaurant which is nice though makes me nervous when I'm leaving but was so comfortable on this day that was very mellow. Walking in it was a cute cozy place with a few tables, there was a gentleman watching some tv who greeted me and got me situation with a menu and they are known for their Blank Noodles which did piqued my curiosity though not feeling like having a soup dish decided on the Beef Chow Funn. Classic and simple but was a bit too simple for me with the obvious beef and chow funn noodles and onion though it was seared very well and I really loved that. you can absolutely see that they took the time to sear all the goodness and it was very flavorful. Noodles was heated thoroughly and was nice and chewy, beef tender and seasoned nicely. I also got the Hong Kong Style Lemon Tea which came in a giant glass omg but was very nice and refreshing, not too sweet but was a very strong tea. Service here is very nice and though it was just one dish it was very good and will be back as many items on the menu sounds too good to pass. Thank you!

Yelp
Stopped by this hole in the wall Chinese noodle place famous for its blanket noodles. The salt and pepper wings were super crispy but juicy on the inside, the serving size was a bit small and was devoured quickly, this was my favorite. The zhajiangmian is not beijing style zhajiang but still delicious.

Yelp
I dropped in with my girlfriend for a late lunch. She was wanting to try places with pan fried pork and vegetable dumplings, looking for something similar to what she'd had in her childhood, and though we've found some decent ones, she hasn't quite found what she's looking for. She ended up finding Joy Cup Noodles Mean, so we decided to try it. Parking is limited, but most of the good places are like that anyway, am I right? So I won't hold that against them, just be aware, they have a few stalls in front of the shop, but it's on Kalākaua so the street can be busy, so be patient leaving. Wouldn't want anyone getting hurt. Anyway, it's a quaint little restaurant, and we were immediately greeted by the woman running the front of house. She was friendly and politely brought our attention to their special BOGO free on orders of Xiao Long Bao! It looks like a good deal, though we passed on it this day. We'll look forward to coming back again. We ended up ordering their pan fried pork and vegetable dumplings to share, I got their Jiajiang Mein, and my girlfriend ordered the Dandan Noodles. They were all so delicious! My jiajiang mein was sweeter than I'm used to, but it was a pleasant change. I enjoyed it, and it was a good helping of food. My gf's Dandan noodles were tasty! You can request different spice levels, and this was right where we wanted it; noticeable but mild. They were nice and savory too, and topped generously! The pan fried dumplings, though not quite what my gf was looking for, were delicious! I loved them, with the crispy bottom but pillowy bun, savory and satisfying filling. It balanced nicely for me! The sweetness of the bun was lovely, too. I saved one for my last bite as a sort of dessert, topping off a wonderful meal. I look forward to coming back again to try more of their menu, likely bringing my mom and/or sister as well. The service was solid, too! The waiter checked on our water frequently, so I never had to ask. I'm quite impressed!

Yelp
This is a nice little hidden place on Kalakaua. Their new owner is very nice. I really love their beef noodle soup. Highly recommend this place. One of the best hidden spots to try

Yelp
Found this place due to a follower (TinyTV) always coming here. So finally got a chance to come as it was early and there was parking out front (there's also a few parking out back if needed). Since it was early we opted for the lunch specials. Won ton min and the pork noddle soup (look fun, can order rice as another option). Won ton min had a decent amount of Won ton and flavorful. Noodles were really good too. Few pieces of choy sum but very stringy. Only thing was the broth was a bit bland and just watery. The pork noodle soup was good, had a vinegary taste to it almost like a mild hot and sour soup which I like. Pieces of pork was good, marnianted and flavorful. Look fun noodles were thicker bit smaller than a Japanese Style udon, nice and chewy. One man show out front and 1 cook out back. So Smaller inside compared to their old location. Wah kun was in the old 99 ranch mapunapuna out back. About 3-4 parking stalls out front. They also have a few different dim sum to order but we passed, little on the pricey side

Yelp
Under new ownership as Rick & Lulu have sold the business last year. My first time here since for take out. There are parking stalls in front of the restaurant that are hit or miss, busier during lunch and dinner periods. Their menu has expanded. Some noodle dishes carried over. There are Hong Kong style dishes added to the menu. Got won ton mein and their beef brisket look fun today. I feel like the take out experience and food quality may not have been their best representation and dine in would probably better. I like there to be a bite to my won ton mein and they were softer to my liking. They don't appear to make their own noodles anymore to my knowledge. If this is inaccurate, let me know and I'll update my review. Definitely get their potstickers, my favorite bite of the meal. They have cake noodle, which I definitely want to try next time. I also saw HK milk tea which I'm very curious to try. The new owner Mike is super friendly and greeted me outside as I parked. I hope they do well. I live in the area and love seeing local business succeed.

Yelp
Joy Cup Noodles Mean - the restaurant that boasts it is "Hawaii's Only Authentic Chong Qing Sichuan Noodles". That's quite a statement when there's a restaurant called Wu Wei Chong Qing Cuisine, Chengdu Taste, and Mian nearby that all serve similar items. But it must mean solely the noodles itself because they had the handmade feel and taste! I've been wanting to try this place for a while. The location is not the easiest to get to. It's along Kalakaua Avenue heading mauka (mountain)/westbound, right before Philip St and King St. If you're heading towards Waikiki, you'll need to circle around and head back the other direction to reach its very limited, tight, and small parking stalls out front that's difficult to get in and out. But I finally came here because I randomly saw on my Instagram feed of a TinyTV (YES, he's STILL making these) video featuring Joy Cup Noodles, and I noticed the owner! He was the (real) owner of Wah Kung. Well, if he's there, the food should be good! The inside had an interesting, retro vibe with the vintage style chairs and a Coke napkin dispenser from the 90s. I dig it! We started with the Cucumber Salad with a sesame and soy vinegar dressing. This is freshly made, and I highly recommend mixing it, and leaving it alone for a while to let the dressing and flavor go into the cucumber as it'll be bland and slightly watery if you eat it immediately. This was quite tasty and flavorful with nicely prepared crushed cucumbers. Sweet, savory, and sour. Next was Bamboo Shoots Salad. This was really good, and very familiar as it was very similar to the packaged preserved chili bamboo shoots that I've had before. Probably the same! Tender, tasty, and crunchy with a nice spice kick from the chili oil. We went with the Beef Noodle Soup. The broth was deep and flavorful. The beef was spot on and tender, and the noodles were nice and chewy. Not the biggest fan of the raw romaine lettuce as I feel it dilutes, waters, and cools down the broth and noodles. But still a decent bowl of noodles. Next was the Dan Dan Noodles. This was interesting. Not quite what you see in regular Dan Dan Noodles, but it was quite delicious. I think the addition of spam threw me off, but the toppings were quite tasty and flavorful. This was more saucy, which is always good. The noodles were nice and chewy, and soaked up the sauce very well. This was my favorite out of the two. The only issue I had was we got level 3 spice out of 5, and it wasn't spicy at all. It felt like a level 1. For a Chongqing Sichuan restaurant, I am expecting the spiciness and the numbness. It was very tame. I'm not sure if these are overly adjusted for local taste, but I want the real, authentic taste. Overall, this was a decent meal. Solid appetizers and noodles. The lack of spice and Sichuan peppercorns made it just like any other bowl of noodles. The service was good. The owner was very friendly and polite. I'll definitely come back to try more. I'll remember to ask for Chongqing La.

Yelp
Joy cup noodles mean was a good experience. The menu selections are unique and creative. I like that they have Xiao long bao (XLB/soup dumpling). Blanket noodles, which are creative and playful ways to have noodles. Service was fair. There's a language barrier, but the waitress does her best. Interior is clean and well kept. NOTE: People with peanut allergies take caution. Food is served with peanuts Parking Tight, narrow, and limited front parking on private lot Payment Cash or credit Restrooms Unknown

Yelp
3 words... Xiao long bao. I liked it here better than Din Tai Fungs (yes I said it) AND...they sometimes have buy one set and get one free! This tastes like grandma's and its homey and delicious. He still gets the skins thin but the pork filling - to die for! I also got Beef noodle soup. It was good but I was totally distracted by the dumplings!
google avatar

Trewen W.

Yelp
I hate writing negative reviews but this place is something else. The food was definitely below average. The beef noodle soup we ordered was okay, but the beef so so tough it was like chewing on chewed gum. And the sesame cold noodles had a really vinaigrette taste to it that made it have a really weird after taste. The worst part was the steamed soup dumplings, emphasis on soup, because these dumplings were dry. Couldn't tell if these were handmade or frozen ones bought at a supermarket but regardless even the trader joe's premade soup dumplings are better. Their chili oil was really good though, it made everything taste better. They definitely could do a lot better, and they also managed to mess up our order when we were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant. Small mom and pop restaurant but dang, maybe i'm spoiled with chinese food but this was not it for me. Probably won't be coming back unfortunately.
google avatar

Gigi T.

Yelp
If you came here for Cantonese food, then this is not the place. But owners were very friendly and service was good. They even gave us free desserts afterwards. Place is cozy and mom and pop shop like. Beef brisket noodles - beef briskets were soft enough but the soup had a little spicy kick to it. Soup dumplings - skin was thin enough and flavor was decent. Also came with red vinegar to dip. Not bad. HK milk tea - if you are expecting the authentic Hong Kong style strong milk tea, this isn't it. At best it's a very diluted bubble tea with no bubbles. Shanghai noodles - first time seeing it made w char siu bits. It's just like beef chow fun but w thinner noodles. not your Shanghai noodles flavor at all. Wonton noodles - noodles were thicker but I didn't get to try the wontons. Looked decent. The "afternoon tea sets" unfortunately weren't available yet. Wanted to try those. And also trying some of the other noodles that other reviews seemed to be raving about.

Yelp
I dropped by Joy Cup Noodle Mean and noticed the lady owner on Yelp wasn't there and the photo of her and her daughter was removed. There was an elderly man that sat across from us and he looked familiar to me. I asked the worker and was told they changed ownership this week. The elderly man was the former owner of Empress in the Chinese cultural center, the famous Wo Fat and Peking duck on Kapiolani...yep he's owned many big-time restaurants over the decades. The food was overall pretty good. The xiao long bao and spicy beef noodles were meh. The blanket noodles and bamboo shoots were the clear winners. They offer numerous types of flavorful Chinese tea which made the experience that much better. They were nice and friendly. The dishes came out fast and they were kind to give us free watermelon for dessert. I would come back again.
google avatar

Andrea A.

Yelp
Back again. Dan Dan still a win. This time we swapped out the soup noodles and tried the Shanghai steamed dumplings. I actually prefer these just because of the textural contrast of having some chopped veggies in with the pork filling. Cold jellyfish is now a must for us here - clean flavor and my 7yo's favorite, which is a bit funny because she's really picky. We tried the 'spicy meat sauce noodle = ja jiang mein' and this one was a bit disappointing. Not spicy at all, more a sweet and sour version of the Dan Dan, and didn't look at all like the pic (which shows a dark red sauce and lots of veggies.
google avatar

Yelp
As a vegetarian the options are limited to their cold noodle dish and vegetable noodle soup Not sure why but all their dishes had the same taste of peanuts, so if you have a nut allergy, STAY AWAY Even my meat eating friends said all their dishes taste of nuts so be wary for that But to the main part, the taste of their food. Their menu is confusing, they had a dish called the "blanket noodle dish" and a cold noodle dish. We asked for the cold noodle originally but asked to change our dish to th blanket noodle dish since we were told it was vegetarian as well. The blanket noodle is an interesting noodle to say the least, it's like a sheet of noodle (similar to a rice roll noodle) amd the sauce was very garlicky, gingery, and tons of vinegar It was good, not the best but it was enough to fill us up. Here's the bad part of my review. When the check came I was shocked to see that the uncharge to the blanket noodle was $4 on top of my dish which was already $14! I was so shocked because behind me on the window their price was showing as $8 for their lunch menu (which is when we went) and had to ask them to update the the check because I was getting overcharged twice! And it took about 3 tries before our check looked okay, so please please please check our bill carefully. My friend got charged $5.50 for coconut water and that was just insane

Yelp
This was on our brother's radar. Everytime we pass by it looks closed. So since my brother had extra time off we decided to go and try them. I called the restaurant up and the owner Wah Kung Chinese restaurant in mapunapuna said they open every day but Tuesday. 11:00 to 8pm so after my brothers school work we went. First of all the owner remembered us from the old restaurant. So we ordered salt and pepper chicken wings, sweet sour pork, shrimp ala canton, and beef chow fun. When the food came out it looked different in the sauce of the sweet sour sauce looked darker than the orangey color that we use to. The beef chow fun was good, salt and pepper wings also good, the sweet sour pork was different in color but ok, the shrimp canton was very big the shrimp covered the whole batter. The owner was so happy to see us gave us a complimentary dish ong choy with garlic was tasty. And to top it off dessert ube ice cream was complimentary. Wow what a great lunch and he does all the cooking himself. Told us thank you for coming and tell your friends we said will do. Before we head out the door he said you can bring in your seafood and he'll cook it for us. If in the area go and support him. There next to Frog house Korean food located on Kalakaua Ave before Philip street. Some parking in the front and located some in the back of the bldg.

Yelp
We ate at Joy Cup Noodles last night for the first time since renovation / new management. We had a great time. We were a large party with young kids, and the manager and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The noodles are as good as we remembered, and the new xiao long bao are excellent, too. Also exciting, the karaoke is now reopen. The setup has been improved with a new, modern system (and new and improved speakers are apparently on the way). We had a great time eating and singing at Joy Cup Noodles, and look forward to returning!

Yelp
A hole in the wall, mom and pop owned, became viral after it surfaced in instagram. SUPER good chewy af noodles, and chewy blanket noodles as well. The blanket noodles are made to order and made by hand!! Talk about TLC and craftsmanship. This place is across the street from Soju Bang and Fabric Mart near Don Quijote in town, so parking can be tough, so you may need to find nearby neighborhood or street parking then walk to the restaurant. It's a very small restaurant and feels very cozy, like you're going over to auntie's house for dinner. Cute and clean interior, able to accommodate our large party of 6, and even able to be booked for karaoke night! Which the guy owner kept pushing for, cuz honestly I think he's super extroverted and wants to party with young people haha. He was cracking jokes with us all night, but UBER polite and apologized every time he said any jokes lol. Nice people. The food was ALL good! *If you have a peanut allergy, this restaurant is not for you, and you should avoid it at all cost. Almost every dish contained peanuts.* Luckily we love our nuts! :D Sweet sour chicken appetizer was fun to share, and very tasty. Bite sized chicken on a bed of sliced cabbage. Sliced, cold, Szechuan potato appetizer was also very good. Refreshing and crunchy, and not that spicy at all! Cucumber salad was a banger as well. Super refreshing, and light yet very tasty sauce. The pork belly noodle soup was very good. My jaw dropped as soon as the first bite of noodles entered my mouth. SUCH CHEWY GOODNESS!!! Wow, we literally devoured that bowl within a few minutes. We got level 3 spicy for all our noodles, and it was a super duper tolerable level of spice. Like just a tickle of spiciness. So if you're looking to feel pain, get above a level 3 for sure. Their signature dish, the Dan Dan noodles, were also very good. I was surprised to see that the bottom of the dish had a fair amount of liquid. I was expecting a completely dry tossed noodle kind of dish. We got level 3 spicy and ordered blanket noodles for this. If you ask for blanket noodles, it does take a while for the dish to come out (~20 min) as they're hand made and made to order. The overall flavor of the Dan Dan noodles and the pork belly noodle soup were kinda similar, but both were very good. Would definitely come back to this place! Great Asian comfort food, super chewy noodles :)

Yelp
Had take out which was wonderful! Handmadenoodles Saw reviews that noodles were soggy but didn't find this was the case, especially on how the take out order separated the noodles from the broth in their soup noodle orders. Delicious flavors! The Don Din was may favorite.

Yelp
Pregancy cravings got me and this girl has to get some authentic Chong Qing Sichuan noodles. Joy Cup Noodle hit the spot! The restaurant door was locked but there are instructions to call and someone will open the door. Once we got in we were greeted by the server warmly. The restaurant was nice and clean there's a section with all the awards they've won for their food! There were a variety of noodles and appetizers on the menu, we ordered the blanket noodle and beef noodle soup with spice level 5/10. Both dish came out delicious! Blanket noodle is a chewy sheet noodle with great consistency. The broth is nicely flavored and goes so well with the giant noodles. The beef noodle soup was a little oilier with strong beef flavor. The noodles were fresh and has the perfect chew. My personal favorite was definitely the blanket noodles, each bite was so satisfying. There's chili oil, soy sauce and black vinegar on the side to pair with your favorite dish for more flavor. We definitely enjoyed the food and can't wait to come back and try something else!

Yelp
Such a great hole in the wall spot! They have killer deals on dim sum and really tasty authentic soups. Plus very fast and responsive service. I love this place.

Yelp
Some of the BEST noodles I've had on Oahu, and made/served by the sweetest owner. I've been curious about Joy Cup Noodle since they opened, but never got a chance to go because the parking lot always intimidated me, since it's on a very busy street and reversing out looked extremely tough. But the noodles wouldn't stop calling out to me so alas we went, and it was the best decision ever. I got the Dan Dan noodles sub Blanket Noodles (extra charge) and it did not disappoint. There's 21 different spices and ingredients in there so every bite was a flavor explosion of salty, spicy, and tangy. The blanket noodles are handmade and soooo insanely chewy. The Cold Sesame Noodles were delicious with a nice balance of sweet, sour and nutty.

Yelp
Hidden in plain sight on a bustling street lies Joy Cup Noodles Mean, a place so easy to miss you'd think it's playing hide and seek. But oh, what a delightful find for those who do! This cozy nook is not just a restaurant; it's a heartwarming slice of culinary heaven, run by an owner who's like the fairy godmother of noodle dishes. The atmosphere? It's like stepping into a family reunion where everyone's genuinely thrilled to see you. I witnessed a family on their second Hawaiian pilgrimage, drawn back not just by the island's charm, but to relive the magic of this very spot and introduce the owner's cooking to their friends. If that doesn't warm your heart, I don't know what will! And let's taco 'bout the beef noodles - a symphony of flavors tailored to your spice preference by the owner herself. She's a triple threat - owner, server, and cook - dishing out happiness in a bowl. Joy Cup Noodles Mean is more than a meal; it's an experience, a hidden gem sparkling with genuine warmth and delicious eats. Miss out on this, and you're missing out on a smile guaranteed to last the whole day.

Yelp
We got the Dan Dan Noodles & the sour chicken soup and for our drinks we got two taro drinks and one Ube ice cream Here we go, the Dan Dan Noodles has 21 different ingredients in which you can taste the party that's going in your mouth. It's like edc just punched your tongue with so many different DJ's of flavor. It was delicious! The Sour chicken soup has a smooth balanced of sourness kick The taro drinks was sweet but not too sweet so it was perfect The Ube ice cream was good too.

Yelp
The xiao long bao were amazing. The owner also has to be one of the nicest guys. Third generation Hawaiian Chinese. Noodles, sauces, all hand made. Def recommend.

Yelp
A nice clean place on Kalakaua if you feel like having a lot of soup dumplings. Men Nextdoor must burn calories and do their Mukbang here.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Joy Cup by accident- was walking back to the Airbnb from the bus stop, and was starving. A quick look on yelp showed that Joy Cup has impressive reviews, and was directly on my way back. Though the outside of the restaurant looked sketch, the food was delicious and service was friendly. I got the Dan Dan noodles, mild spicy. The portion was pretty big and flavor was strong, but well balanced. Noodles was chewy. This is a small mom and pop shop, so seatings can be limited. I hope the locals will continue to support this business

Yelp
Located on Kalakaua Ave. Mauka bound, they have only couple parkings in front of the store, and a couple more at the back, so parking may be an issue. Owner Michael took over this place a couple of months ago, he said he added some new items to the menu. We ordered the beef noodle, it is good, the must try is the shao Liung Bao, it is fresh and juicy. They have a special going on, buy one get one free, so you get 16 Bao, that is a lot. We also ordered the pot sticker and it was just OK. There are some items that we need to go back and try, per the owner, blanket noodle is their special dish. I will try it next time. They have about 6-7 tables, so this place is not that big. Dinner for two coats us about $50, not bad for today's food cost standard, recommended.

Yelp
We tried the seafood noodle and beef noodle. Both delicious and savory, the beef broth had a bit of spice. Highlight was definitely the tender, perfectly cooked noodles. Not sure if they're made in house but damn they were the perfect texture. The spicy cucumber was also quite good, a more of a fermented taste instead of a pickle flavor. The food took a while to come out but it looked like just the owner working, who was super friendly. Tea was provided as well. The only main complaint is parking. There are like 3 stalls total. Nonetheless I'll be back to try the other noodles!

Yelp
Great to see a familiar face in owner Mike, who used to own Wah Kung. He brought his energetic style and top level of personal service. The place was nice and clean. The interior was modern. There were various seating arrangements available for all sizes of parties. The menu is different from Wah Kung which good but sad. It's slightly geared to takeout style instead of family portions. But with change comes opportunity. A lot more noodle and broth-type dishes like their beef noodle dish, which I had, including tendon and brisket. And gyoza was a must accompaniment. They have other dishes like pigs feet and noodles, jellyfish, and stuff you wouldn't have seen on the Wah Kung menu. They also had milk-teas and the dessert black bean bowl. Much more to try! But again, you have to go see Mike! Prices are cheap too.

Yelp
Located right off busy Kalakaua Avenue, it's a small cozy, family-friendly restaurant. We were able to park right in front. Excellent service and delicious food. We tried the cucumber salad, blanket noodles and dan dan noodles for lunch. Complex and flavorful. We hope to try other dishes the next time we are in the area.

Yelp
Not sure about other dishes but the noodle is just in average level. Not even close to chongqing xiaomian.....

Yelp
New owner this place sucks! This place is not the same anymore, they switched owner and everything is frozen now. We ordered beef noodles and is totally different, beef slices vs. was beef chunk before, no garnish now, little portion, noodles not fully cooked and can tell just frozen noodles and over cooked. See picture below for comparison

Yelp
I missed going to Joy Cup when on the island in 2022, so we made sure we hit it up on our visit in February 2024. It was everything I thought it would be. We had the sesame chicken, sesame noodles and of course Dan Dan (subbing blanket noodles...because, duh!) We had exactly zero leftovers, it was that good. The flavors were fabulous. I wish we'd had time to go back a second time. The owners are lovely, and it is an easy walk from Waikiki. Will definitely be back next visit.

Yelp
We ordered delivery and did not find the food quality to be the same as with the previous owner. The portions were smaller and prices were higher as well. Our order was not correct, which didn't help, but that may have been the fault of the delivery service. I won't be rushing back with all of the other Szechuan noodle options in town at the moment.

Yelp
STILL THE BEST! The Dan Dan is amazing! Homemade Hand pulled noodle! ALL 24 ingredients are still prepared with love If you used to be a regular like me, but you stopped coming because Lulu sold the business, then I've got GREAT NEWS for you! THE FOOD IS STILL AMAZING!!! And you've got to try the Shao Long Bao with ginger sauce. BAM! It's delicious! One more thing I can't leave out. The Gyoza is hand made! OMG!!!! I walked in, and there was Chef Mimh preparing FRESH GYOZA BY HAND!!! You better believe I took one order to go to share with my friends! Yes, Lulu is gone. But Chef Mimh is just as enthusiastic about keeping his customers happy. Yes, I miss Lulu, but I missed my weekly Dan Dan fix as well. If you were a regular weekly customer like me and stopped coming because Lulu is no longer here, then I want to invite you to come back in here, sit down, order your usual, and you will be SO HAPPY that you did, and you will become a regular customer again! Thank you Chef Mimh, for keeping the integrity of Joycup Noodles Mean, and for introducing us to your amazing dishes as well! 谢谢你 谢谢你 谢谢你!!!

Yelp
Food was good Glad that I got to try the Dan Dan Noodles. They were a good consistency and nice and chewy. Flavor was spot on. I had spice level 3. If I went back I probably would do spice level 5. The serving is a good size for the price. Here is the one thing Since the serving size is good I would probably half the Noodles with someone and then order a side gyoza. That would be just enough for me and it would change up the flavor with every bite. Would I go again? Yes! Looking forward to being back.

Yelp
Frozen soup dumplings. The soup for the blanket noodles was flavorful but we had flat thick discs rather than the large sheets.
