I recently worked with JPS Designs & Build Inc. on a home renovation project, and I was blown away by their creativity and attention to detail. From the initial planning stages to the final touches, their design ideas consistently impressed me and brought my vision to life. At the beginning of 2024, I was preparing for the most significant undertaking of my team's history. Our watch and jewelry business had outgrown its quaint 800 sqft footprint in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. My team and I decided that if we were going to move, it would be our forever home, and it needed to be done right the first time. Once we had settled on the location after a few months of searching, our next task would be the most daunting one: who would build the store of our dreams? Over the subsequent weeks, we met with a few builders and designers who offered all the right stuff on paper but always left our meetings feeling like we were missing that warm and fuzzy feeling, and since our lease has options for 25 years total, we wanted everything to feel just right. Thanks to a chance referral, we were introduced to Jim and his team at JPS Designs and instantly felt like our values and enthusiasm for our project were reciprocated. We unanimously decided to entrust them to our store, and we could not be happier with that decision. Some comments on key people: Patricia Z. Mansour, the JPS project manager, was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was highly responsive, courteous, and mindful every step of the way. She took the time to understand our design intentions and offered key insights into the project's critical points that proved indispensable to us in our day-to-day operations now that we are moved in. Her creativity, technical know-how, and kind nature went a long way throughout the 8-month build, and our only complaint is that we don't see her as often now that our project is completed. Jim P. Smith, the founder and namesake of JPS Designs, is an exceptional designer, engineer, businessman, and person. If I sum my experience working with him in one word, I would use 'attentive'. Throughout the process, he tried to listen to any and all input, ideas, concerns, frustrations, opinions, and so on. You could not throw Jim off from his attentive and kind demeanor. Calm, cool, and collected all the way through, even when the project presented challenges outside of anyone's control. He bobbed and weaved remarkably and kept us content through the whole thing. It would be relatively straightforward to give a raving review when you have a blank check and a decent team, but Jim and his team indeed went the extra mile in maximizing every dollar in our budget towards crucial parts of the store. We did not have an unlimited budget nor a small budget, but we certainly knew it would still be a task in and of itself to get to the fit, finish, and aesthetic that we dreamed of. JPS Designs made our dreams come true, and we experience the fruits of their labor every day.
