My partner and I recently stayed at this hotel as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan. ||Being young adults, budget has been a factor in our decision making process and I would describe this hotel as a good choice if you’re looking for somewhere close to the action in Tokyo, of good quality but don’t wish to break the bank.||The hotel is situated just the other side of Shinjuku Station slightly away from the real hustle of that area, whilst still within easy walking distance. If you haven’t visited Shinjuku before (which we hadn’t) it was very lively, with the fun going on well into the night. So I can’t comment what it would have been like had we been right in the heart of it, I’m probably slightly glad we weren’t, as the area I’d describe as intense. So we had the luxury of being able to access the station without the need for going into the heart of Shinjuku itself. ||The hotel is well presented down a small side street with attractive entrance. The lobby area is nice and the staff attentive and had a good comprehension of English which was a massive help. ||We were naturally nervous about the rooms and what that might bring. We opted for a twin room with the hopes that would give us a little more space. I’m pleased to say the rooms are more than adequate when it comes to size, we could comfortably open three large suitcases all at the same time without much hassle. I suppose a general warning, I would say the rooms are typically a little smaller than western style rooms, so I feel that unless you go very top end you’d find that a common trait. ||The bathroom was very good, and one of the key things I look for in a hotel as it’s naturally an intimate area where you want comfort. Very modern, with Japanese toilet and all that brings. Off of the main bathroom there is an enclosed bathroom/shower cubicle- it is probably best described as a wet room, which was spacious and very easy to use.||My only draw back with the rooms was they didn’t clean them daily, which I understand they don’t do this to save costs, and simply do a towel change each day, doing a full clean every third day. But when you run out the door in the morning to explore Tokyo, and come back to an untidy bed, it’s a bit frustrating- granted if I didn’t rush out the door and made it myself then I would not have had this issue. But when I consider that they came into the room to change the towels I feel at least they could have made the beds, even if they didn’t change the bedding itself. ||That small point aside, if you’re looking for a base to explore Tokyo from and are on a bit of a budget I’d say this is a great choice. Not many thrills but certainly does the job.
