The hotel is on a quiet beach and beautifully situated. A ticket to Santona was free (but not much there)and we had a day trip to Santander which was good. The food was very good with tapas lunches and waiter service three courses at dinner. The hotel was a bit tired, the air con was non existent and when the weather turned (as it can in mid September) it was cold in the bedroom. Otherwise the bedroom was spacious and had the usual amenities. We didn't try the indoor pool in the basement

This traditional Spanish hotel is run by a lady who cares so much she leaves a form on the first day where you can fill in whatever you need to improve the room - I asked for another pillow and some decaf coffee and got both. Our rep describes the hotel as a restaurant with rooms. Rooms vary enormously. The sea view rooms have amazing views and face north which can be a good thing. the rooms at the front of the hotel overlook the minor main road and have sun all day. the sea view from the side sea view rooms are really good too. Pros: Right on the most lovely long beach. Food is absolutely exceptional. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, light and airy. At lunch the tapas are divine. Breakfast is hot and cold , fresh and varied.Wonderful bread and superb coffee. Do try the green tomatoes - they are delicious. Lovely public room on the top floor with sea views and balconies and comfy chairs. Delightful. All the staff are so, so friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and I had no sign of any insect. Lovely indoor swimming pool. Buses from almost outside the hotel . Cons: The air conditioning is only in some rooms (?) and not always effective if it is very hot. Some rooms have an additional free standing air conditioner which is loud but very effective. A word of warning: Avoid room 231. It is a small room but most importantly half the window has a large wooden panel obscuring most of the view. It also has a free standing air conditioner which feeds out through the window so another strip of window is obscured. Not a pleasant room. Avoid this room and you will have the most wonderful time here.

The hotel staff was wonderful. We were a camp and even though the kids were a bit naughty, the staff was so patient, comprehensive and accommodating with us. The kitchen staff is awesome, worth the visit just for their lemon mousse, which I can confidently say it's the best in the world. If you go, order it, it's absolutely worthy.

Our hotel for seven nights with GB tours, we had a sea view and a really nice, spacious apartment. We were comfortable, tea tray and water provided. Not happy with the cleaner washing the tea cups in the bathroom.|The weather was not the best for May, very windy but we enjoyed watching the surfers.|The hotel is some distance away from the town of Santona and the buses were unreliable, poor taxi service too, so the trips out by coach were very welcome.|We had a good choice from the menu each day and enjoyed the food with some unusual offerings. Gluten free was a bit of a problem but we managed. |Saga uses this hotel and we happily joined in the talks and entertainment, thanks to Belen and her help with our unfortunate hospital visit.|All staff were helpful and cheerful and seemed pleased to have us staying there. |

Our 5th visit to this hotel, but, all other visits have been in September|We thought June would be similar weather but it was very variable however, a very good holiday in a hotel that caters for the older generation|We travelled with Saga who have a very friendly rep Belen who goes out of her way to assist in all aspects of the holiday|The food is excellent with lots of fish for dinner if that is your preference. Lunch tapas is excellent too and, if there is nothing that you fancy in the choices, the sandwiches are superb|We opted for sea view with living room and expected a balcony but there are none in any Saga room the air con did not work and on hot nights the west facing wall was like a large radiator , the hotel supplied a portable air con which helped a bit|Avoid room 201 if hot weather is forecast

Stayed with a walking group and received exceptional service throughout the week. The hotel serves delicious local food which attracts many locals. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff helpful and hard working. Excellent location for walking, bird watching, relaxing or surfing. It was like staying with a family. Excellent

This was our second visit and even better than our first visit in 2019. We travelled by coach with GBTours and everything was wonderful - Andy, our driver, brilliant as always. It was also good to see how popular this hotel is with independent travellers and locals. The hotel is just as tidy, immaculate and comfortable as before and all the staff, without fail, were warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful yet completely professional. Our sea view room with balcony was just like the picture on the hotel website. The breakfasts, tapas and evening meals were delicious with a very good choice. The local beers, wines and sangria were also thoroughly enjoyed. We will return for a third visit!

Having visited previously for 2 nights as independent travellers on our way to the ferry. We were so impressed that we chose to return for a two week, all inclusive, Saga trip. |A welcoming hotel, with wonderful loyal staff, some of whom have been there for many years. Speaks volumes about the management. |The food is very good, with a Spanish accent. Chosen from a menu each evening for the following day, this efficiently avoids excess food waste.|The rooms are comfortable, and well maintained by the chambermaids. Absolutely adequate, if not luxurious. There are several areas with comfortable seating for reading.|The direct access to the beach is lovely. Watching the surfers, and rocked to sleep by the sound of the sea.|Belen, the amazing Saga rep is just the best. No request is overlooked. She just works so hard to ensure that all goes smoothly. She is regularly available around the hotel so that her guests feel cared for.|Margot, the lovely owner/manager took us to the kitchen to teach us how to make proper Spanish paella (I am trying!) also for a little wine tasting. The Albariño is delicious. |To sum up. A really restful holiday.

Yelp
What a wonderful restaurant. Have been following their food on Instagram for a few years and finally had the opportunity to have a proper comida. Rabas (squid) Pochas (seasonal beans) and Rodaballo ( a local white fish). Classic understated dining room with a beautiful view, great service, excellent food and fair prices. Even the bus load of retired English tourists murdering the Spanish language was taken in stride by the talented staff.
