I had an amazing experience with the folks at Judd!! Jules gave our group a tour and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! I met Natalie in their office and she was similarly very friendly and accommodating - I would definitely recommend paying them a visit for anyone passing through the area

Myself and some friends took a tour of the Judd Foundation on our trip to Marfa and had an amazing time. The pace of the tour was excellent; it didn't feel like we were being rushed through and there was plenty of time to explore the space. The selection of Judd merchandise is also great. Our tour guide did a wonderful job!

Tour guide on the studio tour was as minimalist as the art as far as sharing information and insight. 1.5 hr tour took 40mins.

If you want an unbiased account of the works of Donald Judd then this is not the foundation for you

I took two different Donald Judd tours and had two different experiences. The first tour was wonderful, for the guide took time for questions and provided researched based explanations. He was able to inform between fact and inferences. This guy was a younger gentlemen. However, the second tour was rapid. He did not pause nor give time for questions. Rather, you had to stop him midway and ask a questions. Sometimes you were met with what appeared to be agitation, and other times with blanket statements. This guide was older and wore cowboy boots and a hat. The younger tour guide was modest. The guide would let you know what was the extent of his thinking rather than a blunt statement. The older tour guide would get mad if you asked a question to something he already answered. He didn't understand that the human mind can only hold so much things at one time, and breathing space is necessary to have a thoughtful dialogue about what we guest are not experts in. The four stars are for the younger guide.

You can walk here from basically anywhere in town. It's a really fun tour to do whether you're a Judd fan or not. Looking into an artist's domicile and work space like that is always cool and he lived in a very interesting way. His archive collection is amazing and you get to see some works and his living area as well.

Interesting and informative would be the two best adjectives I would use to describe the docents of our two separate tours. The only recommendation I would have would be to somehow abbreviate the background info given at the beginning of each. This ended up being 30 min of redundancy. At least the info shared was identical at each presentation! Otherwise, worth the time and money.

You really have to experience Judd’s work here, as everything has been carefully curated as the artist himself intended. Plus Marfa has its own vibe that distinguishes places like MOMA. If you are a Judd fan, it’s absolutely a must-see!

Yelp
I enjoyed The Block, the Donald Judd studio in Marfa, TX. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but like the place she was a little fragile. Strangely, they do not allow children under 12. This was not clear from their mobile site. We were told, they do not want children running around the property. Langton would have done exactly that. After driving for hours I was going to go anyway. This meant Keri, Langton and Jack Wuest had to occupy themselves for an hour and a half while I went on the tour. I would like to return to Marfa again and spend more time there, but there is a precious vibe - no kids under 12, and my guide was rattled when I was conferring more about the artist when she was giving her introduction.

Yelp
This is a review of the Block Tour. The tour itself was fine, but charging $20 for a 45-minute tour (the website says 90, but that's just not the case) is ridiculous. You see a few neat spaces, but about half of the spaces within the block are off-limits, including the more interesting library, and both sets of living quarters. (You can only peer into them through windows, hurriedly.) There wasn't as much background or explication as I expected -- nothing at all about Judd's working style or how he used the galleries, for example. Disappointing.

Yelp
Came to Marfa after recently learning about Donald Judd. Not an art patron but just curious. Took the Judd Foundation tour of "The Block" which lasted about an hour and a half and led by another local artist, Eugene Binder, an acquaintance of Judd. The Block is an adobe enclosed block just off the main street which two large libraries, Judd's office, and his families' living quarters plus one 3-sided wall Judd built inside the outside wall. The Block is maintained as a shrine to Judd who died in 1993, and everything remains as it was when he died. The guide was pleasant, informal, and informative.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my tour of La Mansana de Chinati/ The Block. The docents/guides were very friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. Learning about Judd's opinions about art production, seeing his considerable personal book collection, and seeing his sculptural pieces throughout his career, were such inspiring experiences. The Block is a beautiful space steeped in art history and eye candy. Love you Judd.

Yelp
I will never forget the 2 Judd Foundation tours I went on when in Marfa. First because of the incredible vision and collection of Donald Judd (Albers, Schindler, Rietveld, Shaker, etc.). The buildings he purchased were wonderful before his interventions, but afterwords they were on par with the Louvre, MET or any other great museum you could think of. And second because of the friendly and informative staff that made this otherwise wonderful place even better.

Yelp
the tour at at the block was fascinating. the grounds and rooms are kept pristine, thanks to donald judd's vision. i wasn't a fan of his work necessarily before coming to marfa, but i'm definitely intrigued now.

Yelp
The gal that sold me tickets for The Block - Guided Visit was cold and non-engaging. I spent $75 on tickets and expected at least a "thanks for your support". She made me feel like I was bothering her. I hope for a better experience on the tour
