I had one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences I’ve ever had at Hotel Juliana.
When I arrived on the night of 1 December, I entered a freezing room—the window had been left popped open even though it was 4°C outside. I quickly found out that the heating didn’t work at all.
To make matters worse, despite the hotel already knowing (as I found out later) about ongoing heating issues, I was still charged €200 as a guarantee on arrival for a room that was prepaid and clearly not in an acceptable condition.
When I called reception to complain, I was told they were hoping the heating would start working again soon. Their only solution was to offer me another room for one night, explaining that I would have to move again the next day. To avoid even more disturbance late at night, I stayed in the freezing room, hoping the issue would be resolved by morning.
The next day, nothing had improved. I complained again and insisted they either fix the heating or offer a proper room, but in the end they simply brought a portable radiator—still without ever offering an apology for the discomfort or the completely inadequate handling of the situation.
For a hotel in this price range, this level of service is unacceptable. I strongly warn other guests to check the heating before paying or staying overnight, as my experience was far below any reasonable standard.
