Julien's is unbelievably good! The way I felt the first time eating their pastries reminded me of how I felt drinking my first Tree House beer over 10 years ago. I've eaten some good pastries over the years, but I had no idea they could taste this good! Add the friendly staff and charming location, and this is an absolute must for pastry lovers! Not to mention the delicious breakfast sandwiches and beverages 😁 Pics of my latest order attached. So gorgeous!

Google
Delicious and high quality! The hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow is as good as it looks. That marshmallow is the best marshmallow I've had in my life. The daily danish with berries was an excellent pastry and the jam inside tasted fresh and homemade. There was a large line on a Saturday but they moved it quickly. Great service. Will be back.

Google
Fast service and delicious food. For us, it was a perfect place to detour our road trip and eat! The breakfast sandwiches are served on amazing biscuits. I cannot recommend these enough. We also had a notable jelly donut, cinnamon roll, and almond croissant. The indoor space is small, and it gets crowded. We were able to eat inside, but they do also have outdoor picnic tables. Looking forward to returning!

Google
Can say enough about this beautiful place. My daughter invited us for breakfast and all I can think about the place is where has this place been all my life. Sweet flowers, great atmosphere, food is delicious I a Hooke with the crooked madam sandwich and I am a coffee drinker. I think I have tried a lots, the pastries, the croissants, the file and plain donuts, the lemonade. The best view and what makes it special the horses and the monarch butterflies. We need more places like this.

Google
Incredible pastries, breakfast sandwiches and the most amazing hot chocolate you’ll ever indulge in. I highly recommend the biscuits & sausage gravy, crullers, doughnuts, croissants and grabbing one of their infamous hot chocolates. Can’t wait to return for lunch and more of Julien’s wonderful culinary creations in the warmer months to experience the gardens!

Google
All I can say is WOW!! We visited for the first time today and were nothing short of impressed! They have a very good system down for keeping people organized. The staff and owners are so friendly and kind. And can we just talk about how good everything was? The coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and even breakfast sandwiches were all huge hits in my family! Thank you Juliens, we will certainly be back!

Google
I just had the best hot chocolate of my life at Julien's. I've driven by a number of times when going on hikes at McLean Game Refuge and heard good things and finally had to find out for myself. I was pleased to see that they have a number of gluten free selections. I will definitely be back soon for breakfast, lunch or another hot chocolate!

Google
Wow! Outstandingly delicious. Adorable spot with very friendly staff. Don’t skip the breakfast biscuits. The biscuit was flaky and buttery and delicious on its own with an egg and bacon cheese and some magical sauce. This was the star for sure. Donuts are delicious. Boston cream was perfection. The cream was delicate and not overly sweet. The donut itself reminded me of European pastry. The hot chocolate was perfection as well, not overly chocolatey, but smooth and creamy and delicious. Reminded me of a black-and-white milkshake flavor. Banana cream pudding for later was top notch too.

Yelp
Julien's deserves all the hype it's getting on social media. I went for the first time to try their famous hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows, and have been back multiple times! In their bakery case, their banana bread with peanut butter frosting, and their crispy cinnamon rolls are my favorite. If you're in the mood for something savory, I highly recommend the quiche. It is the most fluffy quiche I've ever tried. Beware, they have a very small indoor space, and even when you go early on the weekends, expect to wait outside. I was astonished to see how many people were waiting outside last time I was there even though the temperature was below 20 degrees. The team there works very hard to keep the line moving, and they are very kind and welcoming. On weekends you can get their breakfast sandwiches, and brisket biscuits on Sundays! If you're looking to get a sandwich, get there as early as you can because they do sell out. Julien's is well deserving of all the hype they're getting. Go check them out!

Yelp
I learned about this place through sistersnacking & really wanted to try the biscuits. However, upon arriving, I could not resist trying the other bakeries. Finding a good bakery in CT is incredibly difficult considering the premium locations I've had in NYC. That being said, the biscuits were good. I took them to go to assemble a veggie brekkie sandwich at home. A bit to the heavy side though, so I would recommend splitting. Now coming to the baked goods/desserts, I was blown away by the French Crueler. That was probably the most impressive, all the other items were okay. I do wish the staff was a bit friendlier! Would come again, but only for the biscuit & crueler.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Wow. Just wow! After following Julien's on Instagram and pouring through the Yelp reviews, I decided I could no longer wait to go! First of all, the Internet doesn't lie. You need to get there early and be prepared to wait. There was something to the effect of the line moves, but I thought it moved rather slowly. We got there at 804 and the tiny farmhouse was packed. It gave us time to admire all the delicious baked goods and really think about all of our choices. Staff was helpful with recommending their favorites! Although truthfully, we will just return and try the other things we wanted to. My son tried their famous hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow on top. The marshmallow was absolutely delectable. The hot chocolate was just average as it wasn't really hot. He also got a Nutella stuffed donut. It was absolutely so soft and delicious stuffed with plenty of Nutella! I got the Croque madame and my son got the biscuit with gravy and potatoes. He always says I choose the best thing on the menu and he just might be right! The Croque madame was perfectly made. Crispy, delicious and the egg on top you could taste how fresh it was. The bechamel sauce on the sandwich was absolutely delicious! You can only get this dish, however, Saturday and Sunday. Definitely worth a visit to have just that. My son had the biscuit with gravy, which was so delicious and the potatoes at the suggestion of an employee. The potatoes were seasoned so well and cooked perfectly. In the summer, there appears to be much outdoor seating nestled on a farm. You can see horses eating, and frolicking. It's an idyllic setting. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Quintessential New England atmosphere, okay food This has been a destination stop for us for a little while. We happen to be in this neck of the woods, so we made the trek to give this place a try. The approach to this location is very much what I believe to be the New England atmosphere. Lots of larger estates, farms with large plots, honor stands and lots of foliage along winding roads. The actual location is a continuation of this theme. It's next to a large equestrian center and is a small shack off to the side of it. Plenty of horses out and about, getting trotted along a basic track and being put in pens around the grounds. The actual shack is somewhat cluttered. There's a very active kitchen surrounding the ordering line. With an island with a couple seats in case things are slow. They are very much a breakfast place, as they were sold out of most of their stock by the time we got there (1 PM). We managed to get some macaroons, a donut, a quiche, and some potatoes, which was a lot of the last items they had. We sat outside and took some pics. Enjoyed watching the horses and dug in. The potatoes and quiche were good. The quiche had great flavor but wasn't warmed. We were too hungry to complain, but it did detract from the dish. Potatoes were warmed and seasoned. So those were okay at least. The girlfriend really liked the macaroons, and the donut was too bready with not enough filling. For a food location, there's signs of greatness but the limited menu and stumbles were noticeable. The atmosphere though is amazing though. If you catch this place in its prime, I can see it being a very pretty and nice place to trek to. Our stay was not as great this time around, so maybe not a great trek during the late fall

Yelp
Julien's Farm Store is a small farm that serves breakfast sandwiches, fresh baked goods, coffee, and other drinks. Julien's Farm has outdoor seating and you could find yourself in a line on weekends. The line is long but the wait is not that long. There is no seating inside as the farm store is very small. You place your order then someone will come out and call your name when your order is ready. The food is on the expensive side but it's all about the experience. I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheeses and enjoyed the atmosphere as there are horses, the garden, and beautiful fall foliage. The biscuit was very soft and you could tell that it was homemade. The sandwich was a well rounded sandwich but it could have used some seasoning. The Eggs and Bacon were cooked exceptionally well but it was just missing some flavor. Also, I ordered a Danish with Raspberries and it was very delicious. I actually liked the pastry better than the sandwich, which says something because I'm really not a pastry or sweets fan. The Danish was just delectable, soft, flakes going everywhere, and the fruit on top was just so fresh. The customer service was great and the staff were very welcoming. I would definitely be back when it is summer to enjoy other items on the menu and to enjoy the view.

Yelp
Tucked away in the countryside of Northern CT, this farm bakery is a charming hidden gems and it's about to rocketship to the top. Places like this one just make me happy. As you pull into the parking lot, you're greeted by horses grazing, instantly setting the tone. Inside, the bakery is a pastry lovers paradise, with a variety of drink options to please everyone. Don't miss the hot cocoa--a unique, insta worthy drink that's both sweet and soothing. The bakery's selection of pastries is incredible. The egg biscuit is a must-try: flaky, buttery, and packed with rich flavor, while the croissants are nothing short of perfection--light, golden, and with just the right balance of crisp and soft. Yes, there's usually a line, but it's worth the wait. And don't be deterred- my food came out virtually 2 minutes after I ordered. The pastries are fresh, and you can taste the care that goes into each batch. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or sitting down at their rustic tables to savor your treats, this farm bakery offers a peaceful morning getaway.

Yelp
Such a cool place with amazing food. While you wait for your food don't forget to look at the refrigerated food. Pick up some goodies for later. From soups, salads, pasta and pastry's. I had the egg, cheese and parsley biscuits sandwich with Sriracha mayonnaise. The biscuit was so flaky and satisfying. Go to Juliens. Beautiful surroundings, delicious food and wonderful service. Shout out to Jason for helping us decide on all the fabulous pastries.

Yelp
4.5/5 Beautiful location complete with galloping horses and flowers in full bloom! My friend suggested a brunch meet up here and I must say, 100% worth the drive. The actual store is small but the line goes quick. There are "yesterday bakes" pastries in the fridge/counter if you're interested in goods from the day before at a discounted price (these still looked amazing). The pastries looked amazing in quality and tasted as such. Mixed berry and pear hand pie {4.5/5}: Air fried this when I got home and it was perfectly crisp and tangy/sweet with the fresh berries Blueberry cinnamon coffee cake {4.5/5}: warming this up is key to getting that deeper cinnamon flavor and melting the crumble just slightly. Wish it had more of that blueberry mixture Bacon, egg, and cheese on homemade biscuit {3.5/5}: Good savory option among the sweets, though did not stand out compared to the pastries Also, the flowers are absolutely gorgeous here, will pick some next season!

Yelp
OH EMM GEEEE! Went here for the first time this morning (after drooling over their Instagram posts for a few months) and fell in love! What a hidden gem. A lovely drive in the scenic countryside. Great ambiance. Cramped, bustling place that makes you feel like you're waiting in their kitchen, among their sacks of flour, mixers and spices, for your food. A continuous line out the door of happy locals who know it's worth the wait. DELICIOUS food and hot chocolate. I can't wait to come back in every season because the setting is so charming (surrounded by wooded hills, gardens and horse paddocks) that the outdoor dining would just complete the experience. We were warned a few times: Come early because they run out of things!

Susan S.

Yelp
Gorgeous cafe on Barndoor Hills Road at the Granby Equestrian Center. Julian's farm store and cafe seems so remote that you might wonder how customers find it--but judging by the completely full lot and lines of customers waiting for Nutella donuts on a weekend morning, it seems safe to say that the word has gone out about this mere months-old cafe! We stopped by with four little girls on the first day Julien's was open for its new extended hours. Everything was sold out--except for their new item, Nutella donut ice cream sandwiches, housemade donuts filled with Granville Creamery ice cream. We also got cold-press iced coffees and strawberry lemonade, which was bursting with fresh strawberry purée. The kids loved walking around to see the horses. And the outdoor seating area is stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a popular place for portrait photographers. The young staff were super friendly and you can watch Julien making biscuit dough behind the counter.

Shelby B.

Yelp
Going to sum it up. You have to go! Great food. Great drinks. All homemade great quality. Fast busy moving line. So happy this place exists!

Yelp
Amongst the golden colored leaves of Barndoor Hills Road, you might think the road in the middle of the woods is there for admiring purposes, and it is. However, this is where you'll find THE CUTEST barn turned into a coffee shop! Julien's Farm Store is small, but depending on when you go you might find a super long line, or no line at all at other times. They have an ADORABLE seating area in their garden. Just a month ago, it was filled with beautiful, tall, yellow sunflowers. Sadly, their season is over and they aren't looking so sunny anymore. In the background you will see some beautiful horses, as well as in the barns next to Julien's. The inside is very small, there might be enough space to sit two comfortably, on an occasion when it's too cold to sit in the garden. I got a latte, my friend got a cappuccino, we also got a slice of a Chocolate Pecan Tart to share. This was a bit pricier than at other places. It was $22 for the three items. Everything was very tasty! The coffees were hot and hit the spot on this cool fall day. And that dessert? It was sticky, chocolatey, gooey, pecany and so tasty! Please stop by this hidden gem, and enjoy one of their tasty treats in their beautiful garden!

Jonathan V.

Yelp
If ever in the area be sure to stop in ... but aim to get there well before the 12 pm cut off. 100% farm fresh ambiance and taste, BEC on the biscuit was super delicious, not to mention the donuts melt in your mouth. The staff is super friendly and will answer any questions!

Becka B.

Yelp
This has been on my bucket list to try since they opened. Was so impressed with the bakery , staff and surrounding area. The baked goods were superb. My friend also got a hot chocolate and thought it was amazing. My only issue was the filling for the Boston cream tasted lemony and I wasn't a fan. The donut itself was great. Will be returning to try more hopefully soon!

Carlaine J.

Yelp
Great local cafe. Staff was friendly and attentive. I appreciate that they do not over make foods - so you know everything is fresh. But also means - make your way earlier in the day. By 2pm not a lot of options. Outdoor seating was perfect for a fall day. We enjoyed watching the horses. Definitely not a still and stay place during the winter. But for spring - fall months definitely worth the drive out. Lovely area.

Jackie S.

Yelp
Had another spectacular Sunday breakfast at Julien's. I had their 10/10 brisket biscuit breakfast sandwich and their tender garden potatoes, as well as trying these two bakery items for the first time. The bear claw is a MUST-- the flaky layers of the pastry are crispy yet rich and well laminated, and the almond frangipane and chocolate chips inside are the right balance of sweetness and nuttiness. The coffee cake was also rich and delicious.

Nicole G.

Yelp
GO NOW! It truly could not be more of a gem. The breakfast sandwich, the sourdough chocolate chip cookie, the display case. Absolutely all of it. I adore how small it is, keeps everything small batch made and top quality. When I can see the vanilla bean specks in the pastry I know I'm in the right spot. If you go please get me a cookie ;)

Gary C.

Yelp
Croissant is better than in Paris. Quiche best I've ever had. Not much for indoor seating in winter but outdoor seating in nice weather is great. Place is busy so prep for a 10 min wait but worth it.

Sean M.

Yelp
We are there pretty much every weekend. Everything there is exceptional. We're fans of Sift in Mystic and Watch Hill but I think Julien's may have them beat.

Lauren G.

Yelp
The breakfast sandwiches are the main attraction. Made with quality ingredients and from scratch. Baked goods as well. There is something for everyone. Every-time I come here I feel like a part of the family/community. Everyone who works here is so incredibly kind and pleasant. Especially enjoy chatting with Julia who usually is on the register. The grounds are gorgeous. View of the mountains, beautiful horses and stunning flowers.

Jason M.

Yelp
If you know, you know. There is a reason for long waits but parking is easy. Pastries and baked goods 10/10. Bacon egg & cheese quiche was phenomenal. Doughnuts and croissants are great. One of our favorite weekend stops

L T.

Yelp
Wow! Maybe this is one of those situations where it depends on the day. Our first visit was outstanding and the food was to die for. Our second visit not so much. The hot chocolate previously was like a frothy & creamy- think cappuccino meets hot chocolate. This trip was super thick, dark chocolate, which was almost undrinkable. It was too chocolatey. The pastries we had had previously were again outstanding lots of layered flavors however, this trip they were very bland and almost lacked salt. Woman behind the counter was rude to couple in front of us when communicating only lunch was being served. Last visit everyone was so friendly and kind, didn't get that feel today. Will give it another try one day. It over an hour away and we were excited to be delighted.

Janet D.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast sandwiches and coffee. cute place and yummy pastries. Service is very friendly. Nice place to visit and support.

Zack G.

Yelp
Tiny refurbished barn in the idyllic backwoods of Granby that has a very relaxing vibe, a solid drinks selection, a small food selection, and a wide variety of absolutely amazing baked goods I would say that you really have to look out for this place because you could easily drive by, but that doesn't take into account the fact that you would likely never be on such a tiny backroad in order to find it I came here with my dad, and I got a vanilla latte, a BEC breakfast sandwich, and an apple fritter. The coffee latte was solid, but they forgot the vanilla. The BEC was on am amazing biscuit and was topped with very tasty sriracha sauce, but the egg was overcooked and the bacon was a little too fatty. By contrast, the apple fritter was phenomenal and one of the best I have ever had. It was not overly sweet, very fresh, and had large chunks of apple in it The indoor space has ~4 stools that you might be able to grab if you are very lucky, but the indoor space is so small (and the outside is so beautiful) that you might be better off sitting at one of their multiple outdoor tables if it isn't too cold out.

Lisa F.

Yelp
I am so excited to be the first Yelper to tell you about this hidden gem! Julien's is an absolute treat. Staff was so warm and welcoming! We placed our order after getting a quick intro and were told they'd bring the order out to us in the garden. Let me tell you about the setting.... on a horse farm, with tables in the garden area, overlooking the hills with colorful October foliage. Our sandwiches came out, on a warm homemade biscuit and was so filling and satisfying! There were a few sweet options and we shared a spicy applesauce ginger cake muffin. I also had an iced latte which was smooth! This is easily one of the nicest places for a breakfast date and I can't wait to see how they expand their offerings. I want to come back again and again!

Kristie L.

Yelp
We drove over an hour to get here and it was well worth it! This is a one of kind place. Breakfast served until 11 and lunch until 2. A little pricey but well worth it. High quality ingredients and everything made with care. My favorite was the peanut butter chocolate cake. I am a dessert fanatic and this was by far the best peanut butter chocolate cake I've ever had in my life!! If you're a fan of PB and chocolate this is a must try. I would drive an hour again to go back for their food and views, Just a beautiful quaint place like no other. Take the ride and try it! Well worth it

Kim N.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem...No shortage of charm!! Inside, both the people working and the cafe itself are warm and inviting. Outside is so serene--the garden, hills, and horses are just beautiful. The food all smells, looks and (what I've tried so far) tastes delicious. I had a great chai latte, bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with a side of potatoes, and the peanut butter frosted banana bread was divine!! Definitely looking forward to coming back again.

Garrett C.

Yelp
Incredible. 10/10. Julien's is a cute farm store with amazing service and food. I think I found my new favorite breakfast spot.

Michele G.

Yelp
Super cute lunch/breakfast spot. A little out of the way but definitely worth item. Items sell out so recommend go early or on Thursday/Friday. The atmosphere is beautiful, small inside but outside space is gorg with flowers/farm. I got a couple of pasties and really loved both- blueberry donut and muffin. Fresh baked but really enjoyed the blueberry donut. Very fresh and recommend

Meg B.

Yelp
If you haven't tried this Farm Store your missing out. Cute atmosphere with great pastry and breakfast sandwiches on homemade biscuit. Get there early as there is a line but well worth the wait. Food and drinks come out quickly

Feier L.

Yelp
A bit out if the way but that allows it to have a beautiful garden for seating! I came just after 8AM and there was already a line, but it was fairly quick to order. They had a display of some beautiful baked goods and serves breakfast sandwich on biscuits. We tried a biscuit, quiche, and donut. The biscuit was perfect on its own, can only imagine how good it would be as a sandwich. The quiche was very well seasoned and they don't skim on the bacon. The donut is probably my favorite in the Hartfort area, not overly sweetended and perfectly doughy. This will certainly be a summer favorite for breakfast!

Kelly D.

Yelp
Everything about this place is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go! And go early- things will run out! The price you must pay if you care to enjoy fresh made food and pastries. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the outdoor seating area by the garden is so peaceful. Such a gem of a place.

Nicole S.

Yelp
This place is so special. The vibe, the food, the flower garden..perfection! It was busy and the wait for breakfast sandwiches was a bit long but worth it. The cold brew was some of the best I've had. Loved the peanut butter frosted banana bread too. I can't wait to go back.

Shane F.

Yelp
This is so quaint and such a unique find. Different from any experience. It's like finding your own piece of Vermont. Great breakfast sandwiches, quiche, and baked goodies. They have the best oatmeal cookie; better than my mother in-law made!

David R.

Yelp
Wow! Great place to grab breakfast the most friendly staff and amazing food. I ordered the brisket breakfast sandwich, and it was outstanding. My wife had the sausage, egg, cheese with caramelized onion sandwich and raved about how good the biscuit and sauce were. The cold brew coffee was the strongest I've had and the blueberry muffin was excellent. Outdoor seating was nice with a great view, no indoor seating. It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning, but the line moved very quickly. we will definitely be back. They also had the Croque-madame sandwich on display that looks great, one of the only places around I've seen serve one. Did I mention the brisket was soooo delicious. I've eaten in probably over 1k restaurants all over the states and Caribbean it this was probably in my top 10 for overall experiences. I can't wait to go back. Keep up the great job.

Karen J.

Yelp
I almost do not want to write a review for this hidden gem in North Granby. Just go to their Instagram and you will run to go buy many of the unique delicious offerings for breakfast/lunch. The staff is friendly and patient. The lines at times can be long but everyone in line is HAPPY! The vibe is just amazing. The brisket egg sandwich is so juicy and fresh. I could only eat half so save your money and share. Then buy the Tiramisu -available in their to go fridge gives Max-A Mia a run for their money and that's saying a lot. Please dont tell your friends. Lets keep this heavenly place a secret! Ha!

Bonnie M.

Yelp
Meh! I went here a couple times and always ran out of items... I know they said come early on their instagram page.... How about make more items? How about post daily menu? How about online ordering?

Melissa B.

Yelp
Everything in here looked and smelled amazing! The employees were friendly and extremely helpful with narrowing down what to get. I went with family and everyone ordered different things. You know the food is good when everyone is quiet! Next time I'm in the area we will 100% go back.

Kellie C.

Yelp
We love Juliens! Such a sweet gem of a cafe tucked in the beautiful landscape of the rolling hills of Granby, ct and on a horse farm no less! The cinnamon buns, Nutella donuts, breakfast biscuits and that hot chocolate! Soups and salads and lush desserts! Definitely check it out - and arrive early so you don't miss out!

Jack C.

Yelp
The excessively long wait times combined with high prices for standard breakfast items makes this place a no-go.

Edward E.

Yelp
Such a cute place !! The quiche was the best I have ever had !! Everyone is adorable that works there! Check it out !! 5 stars !

Alberta L.

Yelp
The food and service was excellent.picnic tables, flowers. And horse farm.Excellent place!
