If you're looking to satisfy a major, urgent [or customary] sweet tooth craving--look no further. The massive menu will leave you pondering how to gulp or gobble [or both] the unimaginable amount of sweetness that will certainly lead to a sweet, sweet death by diabetes.
We trekked halfway through town to satisfy our sweet craving after the one and only disappointing meal in Montreal. We got here at 11pm, as the place was still buzzing with activity. All tables were filled. After waiting for around 15 minutes, we were finally seated. This place is majorly understaffed, so the poor workers are working double or triple duty behind the counter AND serving you in all means possible. Definitely need more staff to improve the experience for everyone.
At midnight, they start wrapping up. Cannot imagine how arduous that job must be, toiling away all day, serving unending, hungry, sugar deprived crowds.
Our waitress was sweet, but spoke limited Enlist, so I chose a dish that came out to be not exactly what I wanted. The menu is a whole book. Half in English, half in French, so at least that helps. I was stuck choosing between bewitching options for around 15 minutes.
The ambiance is super casual, with a fast food vibe. Quickly in, quickly out. People at neighboring tables were in and out in less than 20 minutes. We were the only guests who took their time enjoying our diabetes-bound feast. Not a great place for large groups, as there's not enough seating space. Goodies are available as well, if you want to purchase a few sweet treats like fondue in a can to take home with you.
My bf got mochachino $5.95 Juliet's way +$1.25, which meant having the cup dipped in chocolate. The concoction was more melted chocolate than coffee. Did not complain about that! Super sweet and definitely could've been enough for the night, if we were not on vacation.
Chocolate fondant $9.95 was spectacular. We licked the plate clean. You get to choose your ice cream flavor--vanilla, chocolate, or hazelnut. Go with the hazelnut--you'll thank me later. The hot lava cake is served with ice cream and a choice of either chocolate or caramel. We went with the chocolate, this being a chocolate heaven. Ooooh the joy of dipping cold ice cream in warm chocolate, and biting into the instantly formed, crunchy chocolate shell that forms upon contact. We swooned and awwwed and sighed over the ecstasy of the juxtaposition of hot and cold, runny and firm sweetness.
Summer trifle $9.95 was a bit disappointing. Brownie chunks, strawberries, and raspberry jam with tons of whipped cream in a cup. Soooo sugary, we got dizzy. The brownie was delicious--so moist and rich. But everything else was just too overwhelming.
Overall, would return to try more menu items!
