I had a great stay here, but with a few minor issues.
Yes, on one hand, it's a pretty basic hotel, on par with other budget hotels or hostels I've stayed at - bearing in mind, that there's a Radisson just across the road that isn't much more expensive. On the other hand, what other hotel in the world is a genuine Boeing 747-200 that you can spend the night in?
I arrived by car and parked next to the nose gear. I wasn't flying from Arlanda, so the hotel said I would be fine to leave my car while staying at the hotel.
Arriving about 8pm, I didn't see or even hear a single person during my stay. There were no staff, and I just collected my card from a locked safe with a keycode. I didn't mind so much since it felt like I had the entire plane to myself! In terms of security it felt quite safe. It's airport-land and at night the only people around are airport workers.
I stayed by myself in a standard room inside the cabin which had a double bed and a single bunk above that. It was a very basic room and simple, but comfortable, bed. The room was warm and I slept very well. Probably the most unique feature of the room was the genuine overhead locker where you can indeed store your luggage, but it was a shame that apart from that, and the windows, there wasn't much "theming". The TV also didn't work properly.
I think there are six toilet/shower rooms in total but only three were available when I stayed. These are decked out like an airliner toilet with smooth plastic and the appropriate signs like "We Suggest You Use Your Towel To Wipe The Wash Basin", which is fun (if you are an aviation nerd and you enjoy that kind of thing). One shower had a broken knob and only had cold water which was a bit annoying, but the other shower I tried worked fine.
As a pretty basic hotel it kind of relies on the theming to make it a special experience. There are lots of little touches I appreciated - for example, outside the plane, the tarmac is marked with yellow "taxi lines" leading to the four engine-pod rooms. I would have liked if the rooms were a bit more special and had some more of these little touches.
So unless you get the chance to fly first class in your life, it's definitely worth a stay just to sleep on a full bed onboard a genuine airliner (even if it is grounded). I just felt the maintenance issues kept it short of five stars.
