Jumon

Been to Jumon a few times now, and each experience has been pleasant with great food. The vegetarian/vegan menu is great as don’t have to figure out what I can and can’t eat. If eating at this restaurant totally recommend JFK cauliflower wings. The waitressing staff are always attentive and great at their jobs! Would give them a tip every time. This place is also great for a date or two!

Food was delicious. 1 vegan and 2 non-vegatarians and we all can't wait to go back. Very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Food was to die for, amazing menu with so much choice. The staff were lovely, so helpful with menu suggestions and the service was so quick. I really enjoyed the JFK (Jumon Fried Cauliflower) it’s not like anything I’d got before within a restaurant. The atmosphere was great within the restaurant.

A great place to go for Asian style Vegan food. The meals we had were very good, not your average vegan dish. They were full of flavour and the portions were a very good size. The service was very good and the atmosphere is relaxed. The prices aren't cheap but you are paying for a better than average dish full of vegetables.

Incredible vegan food!! Had such a nice time here, we showed up for our booking very early and they nicely accommodated us at the bar before seating us fairly quickly. Really nice espresso martini. We ordered 6 small plates for 3 people and were absolutely stuffed :)

Came by myself back on a Friday in October and had an excellent meal. Firstly the food was incredible, asian inspired, delicious veggie food. Cocktails, 10/10, i had a few but the coconut marg was my favourite and I still remember. Its a small and independent run business, so feels great to support. The service was great, the staff were talking and building a rapport with their tables and they were very friendly. I would say it's reasonably priced, with amazing asian food, if you want cheap crap go somewhere else.

We were lucky to grab one of their two walk in tables on a busy Sat night. Food was really good, and my coeliac partner felt safe with their GF awareness. She had the Hunglay curry which was the best! Service was slow, a bit scattered, and could have been more personable perhaps. Lovely place though, would go back in a heartbeat!

Worth the hype, this place is the real deal. The standout was the Kkanpoong tofu appetizer. Cocktails were amazing.

This place was absolutely delicious. The food was incredible and not super pricey! The staff were so nice! Definitely try this place if you're in the city!

There's a really nice vibe to Jumon, with beautiful oriental art aplenty. Loved that when we arrived there was a cute little pug charming visitors, sadly she didn't stay long and was soon whisked away by her owner. We were offered complimentary herbal tea which was topped up throughout our meal - a lovely touch. Food was really good, but I personally found everything over spiced to the point were it was difficult to enjoy underlying flavours. After a while all I could taste was numbing heat. It would be great if they could indicate heat/ spice levels on the menu. Given that Jumon is a vegetarian restaurant, I also expected more vegan options. We ordered a sharing starter called Nem but sadly it wasn't available. When the waitress came to our table to let us know this, she didn't seem to understand when we asked if the Chef could veganise another sharing plate - instead she just blankly pointed to the KMP, a small vegan starter. We gave up trying and ordered that. Not sure if this was a failing on behalf of Chef or Waitress, but surely any decent vegetarian restaurant should be able to veganise a few more dishes on request. Anyhow, Jumon was a good experience overall - prices are reasonable, portions generous and it's currently unique on the Belfast food scene. So I will return to give it another go and I definitely recommend Jumon to others, especially fans of very spicy food.
