Hello N.

Google
Very nice and interesting museum that tells and displays the history of Juneau and Alaska! Very friendly, helpful and informative staff at the museum. Highly recommend visiting if you are around the area!

Google
Wonderful, very inexpensive museum with lots to do for all ages. $7 for adults. Kids under 12 free. Seniors $6. Learn about the glacier, the mines, the geology, the arts in the town. Our 2 year old had a blast, but we enjoyed it as well. Bathrooms were clean and had cute local comics on the walls. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

he Museum is housed in the Veterans Memorial Building, built in 1950-51 (Classical Revival style), originally Juneau’s Memorial Library. It sits opposite the Alaska State Capitol. The museum packs in quite a lot within a modest space. Some highlights: General History Gallery — timeline of Juneau’s development, pioneer/immigrant stories, businesses and industries past & present. Tlingit Culture & Wood & Waterways — Tlingit canoe traditions, paddle types, and construction; also fishing methods. Life on the Water — relates to Juneau’s maritime lifestyle (ferries, steamships, shipwrecks, etc.). Politics, Personalities & Power — includes the story of how Alaska became a state, civil rights (Elizabeth Peratrovich), political developments, etc. A large relief map showing Juneau and its geography + changes (glacial retreat, shorelines) is especially engaging.

$7 ticket price, very simple museum if you're looking to get out of the cold and learn something about the town. It's a single storey homely museum of knick knacks collected locally. The video was very interesting.

Google
This is a nice museum right across the street from the State Capital Building. It is a smaller museum with information and artifacts about the history of the State of Alaska. They have a little gift shop and the staff are friendly.

Google
Wonderful little place to learn about the history and progress of Juneau. Street parking only. Loved it.

Google
Friendly front desk staff and the museum is the perfect size to explore in an hour or so. It provides a historical ‘snapshot’ view of the area which is a nice foundation when visiting other sites. I especially liked learning about the push to move the capital to Willow. Highly recommend to pair a visit with a tour of the capitol building across the street. It has a tiny gift area, so you’ll want to do your souvenir shopping elsewhere if you want a range of items to choose from.

Google
A qaint little museum with very affordable gifts like enamel pins, art, and post cards. There is a fee of about $7 to walk around 5 rooms - One of them includes a movie. It was fascinating to learn about Jeaunu and the support within their community. For example, the museum exhibited Junaeu's school and performance hall. The staff is incredibly kind and knowledgeable about Juneau. She directed me to shops I'd be intereted in like a pin store that was right around the corner.

Yelp
Small museum. There is a video that plays in a separate room but the room is not set up for children in strollers so we opted out. I loved the handwoven clothes on exhibit and they had a small souvenir shop. We spent 30-45 mins in here so I would definitely recommend planning on doing more in the city in addition to this museum.

Yelp
Small city museum located next to the Alaska State Capitol. After our Capitol tour we wanted to check out the Capitol gift shop, which is located inside the museum, but decided to explore the museum as well. Admission is $6 per adult. There is a short film you can watch about the city. The exhibits are mainly centered around mining and the local tribes. We didn't stay very long as the exhibits had a lot of information and was not set up in a while that was easily read when browsing.

Yelp
Nice museum located in downtown Juneau! The content of the museum covers much history for the Juneau and Douglas Island area and of course greater Alaska. Lots of information covering nearby industry for their community, historical figures that shaped and influenced much and so much more. The museum is modest in size (compared to the Alaska State Museum) but you can stay here for a very considerable amount of time as there is a lot read, a short film and all the artifacts to examine that are on display. Excellent museum for the tourists but the locals will walk away with plenty of value for themselves from it as well. Very friendly and informative staff which is always a good thing!

Yelp
Small but good. Roughly half of this museum is about the mining history and natural history of the area, with interactive displays that adults and kids alike can enjoy. The other half is a gallery of art from a local artist who spent much of her life in the area and in contact with the indigenous population. Definitely worth a visit, but it won't take up your whole afternoon.

Yelp
Love this place; old building, lots of state and city history, great pseudo interactive displays, light, airy and comfortable respite out of the nasty Juneau weather. If you have an hour to burn and are interested in some fun history, I highly recommend;)

Yelp
We were so glad we managed to do the walking tour before they ended for the season. Our guide, Ann, was so knowledgable. The highlight was tea with a local at her B&B at the end of our walk around the city. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a small museum with good information about the cities of Juneau-Douglas. Not much current (Douglas-mine) about as current as I saw for that part. Most of the Juneau info was also old, history is yesterday as well 50-100 years ago.

Yelp
This small building offers a delightful and well presented account of Juneau's history. The emphasis is on the mining culture as it was pivotal to this cities success as the new Capitol taking away business and legislatures from Sitka. Dan was the attendant and provided me with all the guidance I needed. Thank you Dan.
