Food lovers must visit here. Cuttlefish sundae and manseok DakGangJeong is a must eat food. Some stall provide poor service but mostly are friendly and warm.

Best seafood market and delicious crab, korean fried chicken and squid.

It had been a long time since I visited a traditional market in Korea, especially in this charming seaside town. The market was brimming with life—tanks filled with all kinds of fish, still swimming and waiting to be sold. Stalls offered a vibrant array of fermented and marinated side dishes, perfect companions for steamed rice. There were also colorful rice cakes, crispy seafood tempuras, fresh fruits, and snacks of every variety. It felt like a feast for the senses, with every corner offering something new to discover. For lunch, we couldn’t resist the allure of a grilled seafood restaurant. The freshness of the catch, combined with the rich flavors of the grill, made for an unforgettable meal. Traditional markets like these are more than just places to shop—they’re a window into the heart of local culture. The variety and freshness of the food, the lively atmosphere, and the friendly banter of the vendors all contribute to an experience that’s as rich and fulfilling as the food itself. It’s a reminder of the importance of preserving these spaces, where tradition and community come together so beautifully.

Great place to have a wander. A fantastic display of fish, shellfish and crabs. Lots of lovely seafood restaurants around the market to have lunch or dinner. The people working in the market are very friendly and welcoming 🙂

Walked the market selling street food. Plenty of choices and i tried their cake (white color) which is tasty. Bought their teokkboki, it was a bit spicy and less chewy compared to what i have tasted before. Headed to the basement for seafood - bought snow crab at stall 153 and had them cooked for me. Its 29k won per kg and additional 10k won charge for cooking. The crab meat was sweet and the owner was friendly. The fried rice was the bomb - the best i have tasted.

As a foreigner, this was a novelty just to seduce at first. It does seem to have a wide range of all sorts of produce and items with fair pricing for the area. Even with a language barrier, they seems friendly and I did see a number of vendors giving samples of their produce. Beyond food, there are curious other items for the kitchen and home in general. Close to the middle is a multi story building I have not seen all of. That seems to match "big box stores" in its range of options.
