Jungle Bay Dominica

Beautiful property, incredible staff — but the food needs improvement Jungle Bay is a truly special property and we had a wonderful stay overall. The setting is stunning, the bungalows are beautiful, and the pools have incredible ocean views. It’s also one of the best places on the island if you want to explore— the hotel makes it very easy to organize excursions across Dominica. The staff are exceptional. We traveled with our 19-month-old and they went out of their way to help us constantly—sterilizing bottles, bringing hot water, and preparing off-menu items when needed. The babysitter they arranged for us, Shaunna, was amazing. She brought toys, played with our son, and even rocked him to sleep for his nap. If you’re traveling with kids, request her in advance. The drinks are also phenomenal. Locals rave about them and they lived up to the hype. The one area that really needs improvement is the food program. Joanne, the food and beverage manager, is incredibly kind and accommodating, but the quality simply doesn’t match the prices. The Farmer’s Table dinner was especially disappointing — mains like chicken with heavy cream sauce and mahi with marinara felt more like airline food than a signature dining experience. At nearly $50 per dish, the value just isn’t there. A small operational issue: the WhatsApp number for ordering drinks at the garden pool didn’t work, and neither did the hotel phone number online. We would absolutely return because the staff, setting, and overall vibe are fantastic. If management improves the food program, Jungle Bay could easily be one of the best resort experiences in the Caribbean

I don't think I have enough words to describe this beautiful place. What an exceptionally beautiful place with amazing people, and food in a beautiful Jungle escape. This place knows how to take care of their clients right from check-in until check-out. This place is a wonderful getaway to enjoy nature, the sounds of rain, birds, and everything in between. And not to mention their meals are so delicious and nourishing. Thank you to each of you to have made my stay wonderful! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Dominica.

First, this place is excellent! The owner, Sam, was often available and friendly with cool stories and recommendations. The location is about a 90 minute drive from the airport. The good: excellent food, rotating menus, amazingly friendly and helpful service, good location (inside of a rainforest/jungle) and short drives to the beaches. We reserved a room with an ocean view and it was worth it. Great value compared to other spaces we have frequented. There are lots of excursions and events for people who want a detailed and planned vacation. If you want a relaxing holiday, it’s also a great place to relax and do nothing but enjoy sun, water and food. The resort is open to nature so if you are scared of bugs or critters then you may want a more traditional beach resort. Being in nature made this experience very authentic and relaxing. ||The only issue we had was the comfort of the bed. The king bed is essentially two twin beds pushed together so it was difficult as a couple to enjoy a good night’s sleep. The mattress was also very firm and not plush as expected in a fine resort such as this. EVERYTHING else was exceptional! Will come back again!

I only spent 2 short days at Jungle Bay resort, celebrating my birthday in late January. It was a spectacular experience, we'll worth the expense. The setting and landscaping are wonderful, the amenities and service 1st class. The food is excellent, tours and activities are well worth it. The staff, headed by Sam Raphael and the GM Laura Ell are friendly and efficient. They exude a welcoming warm and make every guest feel special. Yoga sessions led by Nancy are a great experience. What a wonderful, unforgettable vacation we enjoyed at Jungle Bay, highly recommended when in Dominica.

Absolutely stunning property! Everywhere you are the views are unbeatable! Feels very relaxing snd luxurious. Some of the rooms are quite far from the main building but they always have golf carts waiting to take you up to your room or pick you up from your room. Only complaints would be that the beds weren't that comfortable and that the rooms aren't very sound proof. We could hear the couple in the room next to us as there is a shared wall. However that would not deter me from going back. Food was ok, menu options were low and they frequently didnt have items on their set menu ( they rotate daily). However we didnt go hungry. Beautiful jem on the island!

This was our second stay at Jungle Bay, and even though we almost never return to the same place twice, it was as amazing as the first time. We love everything about it; the incredible staff, the private spacious villas, tons of daily activities with certified guides on staff, and the onsite spa that’s perfect after a long day. Dominica itself is stunning and has something for everyone. ||We stayed in a partial ocean view villa and added the Wellness & Adventure Package which covered all guided activities, meals, daily yoga, airport transfers, and a 30 minute massage each day. Totally worth the upgrade! Our villa (#3) had stunning views of the ocean & Scott’s Head with beautiful sunsets. The rooms had everything we needed, housekeeping kept them spotless, and the restaurant always had great options, especially the fresh juices and herbal teas! ||The staff is really what makes Jungle Bay special. The guides at Jungle Bay are fantastic. Weefy was our favorite and made every outing memorable. Chester and Colin are also great guides. Our favorite activities from both stays include hikes to Middleham Falls & Boiling Lakes (as well as others), Titou Gorge, sunset kayaking in Scotts Head, daily sunset yoga, Mero Beach, and snorkeling at Scotts Head & Champagne Beach. We also spent a couple of days each trip relaxing at the pools which we often had to ourselves. Laura and Nancy are awesome managers, and Nancy’s sunset Yin Yoga class is the perfect way to end the day. ||If you get a chance to stay at Jungle Bay, go for it! It is one of the few vacations where we’ve truly felt relaxed. Huge thank you to the whole team at Jungle Bay for another amazing stay.

Not worth the money. First, the positives: Most of the serving staff are very sweet and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious, although spider and gecko visitors should be expected. The balcony was nice, with comfy outdoors furniture, and had a good view. The beds are very comfortable. Sam, the owner, is very friendly and always takes the time to say hello and have a chat, even though he’s clearly a busy man. The location is beautiful, and can momentarily feel like you’re in a rural location, before you’re brought back to reality thanks to paper thin walls (more on that below). Now for the less positive… Considering we paid over £1,000 for a 4-night honeymoon stay, I’d expect at least to be able to have a relaxing shower. Unfortunately, the “eco friendly” showers can only hold 3-5 minutes of hot water, which means our showers felt rushed. I didn’t even attempt to wash my hair during our stay! The walls are absolutely paper thin, and you can hear every word of conversations coming from the room next door. So much for a quiet, romantic honeymoon getaway 😅 the staff seemed utterly disinterested in helping us explore other room options. It seems the mosquito nets are not cleaned often, as there’s an overwhelming smell of dust when it’s released. Front desk are disinterested at best. It’s very clear they don’t want to be there. Given the amount we paid, I’d expect staff to be a little more interested and caring. Breakfast is very limited and not varied enough. We chose to go out for lunches and dinners, so I can’t speak about the food quality, but menus are limited. Food & drink options are targeted towards the American guests - don’t expect a cappuccino, only filter coffee is available! The activities are overpriced, and I feel their primary purpose is to generate income rather than enrich guests’ stays. We feel quite regretful of our decision to spend our honeymoon in Jungle Bay. We feel we could’ve stayed somewhere cheaper and had a much more enjoyable experience, perhaps spending the extra cash on private tours/activities or nice meals out.

Jungle Bay was our favorite place that we stayed at in Dominica. The property is beautiful with great views of the sunset (especially from the infinity pool). The room was spacious and clean and there is free parking if you have a rental car. The breakfast and restaurant on-site are fantastic and utilize local produce and ingredients. The hotel is located in a great spot if you are looking to explore sites in the southern part of the island (Scott's Head, Roseau, Trafalgar Falls, etc). I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Dominica.
