Jungle Lodges & Resorts (JLR) Kabini, along with a few other resorts in the backwater vicinity, has created a monopoly in the area, making resort stays extremely costly and out of reach for middle-class and budget travelers.
JLR Kabini is among the costliest resorts in all of South East Asia, with Viceroy Rooms priced at over ₹80,000 and other rooms ranging between ₹35,000 and ₹50,000 for two guests. Even the dormitory costs around ₹8,500 per person.
The boat safari is also made exclusive for resort guests and is priced around ₹3,000–₹4,000 per person, turning what could be a natural experience into a luxury that only a few can afford.
