This place is lovely. I have stayed there twice. Once for my nephew’s wedding and the second for my brother’s 70th. The views are incredible and the place itself is beautiful! If you want to have the perfect Friday Harbor experience, this is your place. Best regards, Stephanie Bair Newbill

Everything was terrific. The room and bathroom were well appointed, including locally made lavender soap. The communal kitchen is perfectly set up with coffee and tea options and everything necessary to prepare breakfast or a light meal. This would be perfect for a group of friends for long weekend on San Juan Island. Host has made a eclectic, interesting and homey space. And beautiful patio and dining space in the backyard.

This place is a true gem. The owners are so courteous and ensure our visit was spectacular. My family of 9 adults stayed in the main house and it was perfect for us. They put together a fire pit for us in their beautiful garden. The home has great touches from the soaps in the bathrooms to the furnishings. You will want for nothing. The location is perfect as they are only a mile from Friday Harbor. We stayed there for 6 days and visited San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez. Stay here and you will be extremely happy with your choice.

This place was so unique, comfortable, and clean. We met Juniper, our host. She was so friendly. The place was absolutely spotless. Bed so comfortable with a nice seating nook under a window overlooking the fields. We were still on eastern time so the downstairs kitchen complete with everything you might need-great coffee, tea, creamer and space to spread out while all other guests are sleeping in the early hours was perfect. We stayed in the Tea Room.

It's what's on the inside that counts! Driving up we could not imagine this property housing 5 couples. How wrong we were! Well appointed house with 5 separate bedrooms and 4 baths. Up stairs each room has its own ensuite bathrooms. Lower level two rooms share a bath and the other one has theirs across the hall. Juniper was available for anything we needed, which wasn't much. Close to town but far enough out in the country to enjoy the space. Once you walk over the threshold the magic begins.

We had the pleasure of staying at Juniper’s cabin for two nights in March 2024, and it ranks at the very top of my best lodging experiences ever! The cabin is so beautiful and cozy and able to accommodate up to four people (two sharing a wonderfully-comfortable queen bed). Juniper thought of everything you would ever need and then some, including teas and handmade soaps! The location just a couple of minutes (about a mile) from the ferry terminal at Friday Harbor was the perfect location to stay and relax in the heart of nature (we watched a bald eagle from the cabin in her aerie) before exploring the rest of the gorgeous island, with the option of a jaunt back to the “city” center for shopping or dining. Thank you, Juniper, for a wonderful experience!!

Best lodging option on San Juan Island! Colorful and civilized. Mirrors a European guest house. Beautiful grounds and fascinating ecclectic decor. Reasonable rates, too!

I booked the Regal Royale room directly through Juniper within hours of my arrival and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable and cozy. There was a sitting area under a window. The bedroom and bathroom have separate heating units. The bathroom has a nice claw tub and shampoo/conditioner are provided. The entire guest house is very clean which I appreciated. There is complimentary tea and coffee to make yourself in the communal kitchen. There is also a parking space for every room. I communicated with Juniper directly through text and cell phone. It’s also a reasonably priced accommodation compared to the rest of the island. I could hear the other guests talking at a normal volume when I was in my room, but they weren’t being disrespectful and it was quiet and the quiet hours. I really enjoyed my weekend getaway here and I highly recommend Juniper Lane Guest House.

Yelp
My partner booked this room because I mentioned it looked like it was made with a lot of love (and lovely woodwork), and I wasn't wrong. The opposite of the greige AirSpace style that proliferates, this was colorful, textured coziness. Apart from aesthetics, it was just a great spot to spend an important birthday. While I always bring coffee making kit with me, I hadn't remembered tea. Turned out the kitchen was well-stocked with all the tea. Our host very kindly offered to pick up things for us when it snowed, but it's only about a mile walk into town, so we found it pretty easy to pick up provisions at the excellent Co-Op and Bakery San Juan. There are so many great hikes on the island, but having a day to watch the snow fall, read, and drink tea, was just what I needed--along with watching the bald eagles nesting. What a special place!

Yelp
Absolutely splendid: warm, welcoming, and with so many thoughtful touches. I really didn't want to check out! I'd have loved to spend more time on site but was visiting Friday Harbor for a wedding. Loved every aspect of the Regal Royale room -- especially the window seat for writing and sipping tea. Thanks to Juniper!

Yelp
We stayed in the Pine room which was $149/night. It has a queen bed, and a 3 level bunk bed. There was a also a small sofa. The bathroom was across the way, but the door had a sign that it's a private bathroom for Pine room guests. Your room key has one for the room and the bathroom. For COVID-19, there was contactless check in and check out. I was provided the code to the front door after booking my reservation, and our room keys were inside with a note of where to find the room. I dropped our keys off in the same place when we left. For both check in and out I just sent a Juniper an update via text. Super easy! Kitchen usage was more limited, but we could still use the fridge to store some of our stuff. The room and bathroom were both very clean. It was nice that there were 2 bathrobes for us to use. The bathrooms had towels, liquid hand soap, bar soap, and the shower had a shampoo and conditioner dispenser. The location is about a 5 minute drive from downtown, but we loved that it was away from other hotels and businesses. It was next to farm land so we saw some animals. There are 2 hammocks outside, along with some tables, and a fire pit. It was a fantastic stay and we'd definitely come again the next time we're in San Juan. Hopefully we can bring enough friends with us to rent the whole place!

Yelp
Juniper Lane Guest House is a relaxing and gorgeous place to stay. Great views and seating outside, perfect for reading, chatting with friends or enjoying a fire pit in the cooler evenings. This place is affordable and worth every penny. Great rooms with plenty of space. A shared kitchen space with everything you need. Just 5 minutes from Friday Harbor. I will be back in the future!

Mica L.

Yelp
Only there for one night for a quick birdwatching trip, but wish I could have stayed longer! Owner was friendly, check in was a breeze, and the house itself was gorgeous. Really fun decor and lovely building, comfortable and clean room (I was in the Organic Green Tea room), nicely furnished and well-supplied common areas (sitting room and kitchen). The off-season rates were a steal, lower than the (much more boringly decorated) larger hotels in town. If I ever need a place to stay on the island again I'll definitely be back!

Donna B.

Yelp
My mom and I stayed 6 nights in the Organic Green Tea Room, and we loved it! The room is so cute and cozy. Love the window seat! Perfect for curling up with a book and reading. The bed was very comfortable. We just loved it! The rest of the inn was great! Clean and cute. I loved the decor. There were yoga mats to use for guests (I teach and practice yoga, so perfect for me). The kitchen was clean and well organized. Sharing with others was fine. I liked that you could just go in there and fix what you wanted. No set times for breakfast like at traditional b&b's. Grounds were relaxing and beautiful. We sat outside one morning to enjoy watching the sheep grazing. The inn is close enough to town, but far away enough not to be touristy or busy. Like going out to the country, but not a long drive. I will be going back! It was wonderful!

Jessica L.

Yelp
We stayed in the room on the first floor. Very cozy and clean. Hot shower. Juniper (owner) is very friendly and accommodating. Decor is very cute as well.

Yelp
I had never been to San Juan Island, and I'm glad that I read and trusted the Yelp reviews posted... this trip was a girls trip for my daughter and me. I'm very happy that we decided to stay at Juniper Lane Guest House. This is not a B and B; they do have a nice, fully stocked kitchen in case you want to cook... but you might want to choose to bring snacks etc as we did. There is coffee that you can make.. and we did try some of the teas. This is self serve. The microwave came in handy , too. What is very nice here is the retro chic ambiance. It's as if you're staying in a home , with interesting art, decor from many cultures enhance each room to give this place a loved, homey feeling. The exterior is well maintained and the eagles nesting up in one of the trees was an unexpected pleasure. As far as pricing, Juniper Maas has tried to beat her competition... and we arrived on a weds and left to return on a Friday ; but we wished that we could have stayed longer. There are patios and seating outside.. along with hummingbirds enjoying the many attractant flowers. We really enjoyed the fact that we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. I want to return to San Juan Island and when I do, Juniper Lane Guest House will be my first choice. The lower level is ADA compliant. The restroom would need to have grab bars etc to be accessible for elderly or handicapped guests . Most areas , though, are accessible via wheelchair.

Yelp
[fyi: this review is specifically for the cabin on the property and not the guest rooms inside the main house.] what a place to stay! the five star reviews are here for a reason! i'm just adding to them :) i booked the cabin as an in-between xmas and new years getaway, months in advance. juniper was lovely to deal with, charging a balance on my credit card and making sure that it was ready focus when we arrived off the ferry. she has everything you could want. it was heated, had plenty of towels in the bathroom and strong water pressure in the shower, a fully stocked kitchen with coffee and many flavors of teas,) a grill outside which we didn't use since it was the off season and couches to laze around on while the rain pelted the roof and skylights for two days straight. once the weather cleared and we went out to other places on the island, it was really nice to come back and be able to cook for ourselves and snuggle in for the evenings. when we needed anything, juniper was a call or text away. i have been to the island before so knew my way around and knew where i wanted to go, but i am sure that if you are visiting and wanted recommendations, she would have plenty of them for you if you ask. she struck me as the kind of person who will happily leave guests to their own devices but also engage in conversation easily if you have the time and/or inclination to know more from a local. what i liked about the cabin was us just being on our own, doing our own thing and not feeling like we needed to be conscientious of the noise level or having to be social if we didn't want to. it gave is flexibility that might not be there if you rent one of the guest rooms but i could also be wrong about that. in any case i would easily rent the cabin (again;) you should, too!

Yelp
I love this place! Stayed here with some friends for a part of a multi-city vacation trip and this is probably my favorite place to stay at throughout all my vacationing. Ever. It's just outside of Friday Harbor, but not so far that you have to drive far to get there from the ferry landing. Juniper has such an attention to detail with the design and decor of the rooms. The beds are SO comfy and the sheets are like silk. You wake up to sheep bah-ing in the field out back. I wish we could have spent more than just 2 nights here. There is a backyard area with a fire pit and hammocks with hanging lanterns hung all around. At night it looks quite magical. The kitchen is stocked with freshly ground coffee ready to be brewed. The entire house is very very clean. There were 3 of us and we stayed in the Pine room. This is the room with its own bathroom that is just across the hallway. Room had more than enough space for us and our luggage. We traveled to Portland after staying here and had an AirBnb house rented - it seriously felt like we were roughing it after staying at Junipers wonderful Guesthouse (even though the AirBnb house was fine). We wanted to go back!

Yelp
After my stay here this weekend I knew I had to leave a positive review and to no surprise this place already has 5 (very well deserved) stars. Not only was the place clean and well kept, it was very well decorated!! They had -all- the provisions provided in the kitchen (wide assortments tea, coffee, pans, pots) perfect for saving money and cooking in what felt like the comfort of our own home. The backyard view was spectacular and added to the experience of just chilling out and catching up with friends. If I had enough energy to stay up later I would've taken up the opportunity to use the fire pit! My friends and I biked the island all weekend and the central and close to town location was perfect for our biking needs! We left this place this morning and I've already recommended it to friends looking to book a trip in the near future. I can't wait to return! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

Yelp
This place is FANTASTIC. I had a great feeling about it after reading all the reviews and viewing the website, but it wasn't until we arrived that I truly understood what all the hype was about - the Juniper Lane Guest House is amazing. It is beautiful, it is peaceful, and it has a great energy about it. From the moment we arrived, I just felt relaxed and happy. It isn't too far out of town and is an easy find as it is right along Beaverton Valley Road. The property is great and has absolutely gorgeous views of the San Juan hills. We stayed in the Regal Royale room upstairs and it was so so lovely. The decor is exotic in a unique and laid-back way. The bed was amazing - super comfortable and some of the softest sheets I have ever slept on. It was almost a bummer getting home and sleeping in my own bed because my sheets do not compare to the ones here! There is a standing shower and claw-foot tub in the bathroom. There are areas that we did not use, but are of great advantage to guests. There is the shared kitchen, filled with free coffee and tea, as well as use of the refrigerator, stove, etc. If you buy fresh seafood in town and want to make dinner, you can bring it back here and easily cook it up. There is the backyard with its fire pit and tables, where you can sit out and have a cup of coffee while enjoying the views. They even have hammocks out there, which we tested out after a long day of bike riding. The downstairs common area with couches and chairs is filled with all sorts of interesting books and CDs. The entire property is a unique space and really designed to give the guests a warm and welcomed feeling. Rates are extremely reasonable considering it was the summer peak season. We paid $135 per night, which seemed like a an absolute steal - especially compared to some of the prices of actual hotels on the island. Other rooms have lower rates - due to their having shared baths - or slightly higher rates (only if you have higher occupancy than two people). There is also a cabin available for rent that easily holds a family. There was only one small thing that really bugged me and that was the lack of water pressure in the shower in the bathroom. I am one of those people that likes a strong water flow and this shower head did not do the trick. This probably wouldn't bug most people, but it was my one tiny pet peeve about this place. Everything else was perfection. Overall, we had a really great experience staying here. It was the perfect location and perfect environment for us to really sit back, relax, and enjoy our stay on the island. I would stay here again, no doubt about it.

Ryan G.

Yelp
I can't even tell you how fantastic this place is. It's magical. It is beautiful, quirky in the best way, peaceful, and- not to sound all new-agey, but- has a really great energy about it. I have met some wonderful people there over the years- I've stayed a number of times, and have great memories from each time. I've even developed friendships with fellow guests that I've continued over the years. Like I said before, I really can't tell you how absolutely wonderful the Juniper Lane Guest House is, you'll just have to go find out for yourself. So... Go- go right now. Or at least drop what you're doing and make a reservation right now and go soon. You will not regret it, you will only regret that it's taken you so long to get there.

Monica K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at Juniper Lane for 2 nights while visiting San Juan Island, and we wished we had stayed for the whole week. The guesthouse was so beautifully decorated and curated including all the gardens. We loved laying in the hammocks watching the sheep and horses in the field next door and had the best time lighting a bonfire while watching the sunset. It was so close to Friday Harbor- we didn't have a car with us so ended up walking to and from the Harbor. I couldn't recommend the Juniper Guesthouse more highly. It was one of the best parts of our trip to San Juan Island.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Four of my friends and I stayed here for two nights and LOVED it! We stayed in the Cedar Backpacker and Mandela rooms so that we could share bathroom. The house is lovely and we really enjoyed the location. Woke up to the beautiful farm and spent a night around the fire circle. The room at first was a bit hot but all the windows open and the breeze cooled it off (esp. since we are from Texas). Can't wait to go back to Friday Harbor and Juniper's guesthouse!!! We also loved the friendly yard cat. We name it Cashmere the cat :)

Michele B.

Yelp
Very quick stay here just basically a quick nap. Which I could have stayed longer. Quiet relaxing and personable decor. Very reasonably priced and many options.

Meg B.

Yelp
Great price, location and utterly gorgeous attention to detail. My boyfriend and I wanted a quick weekend getaway to just relax and take it slow. That's exactly what we got and it was magical. We stayed in the Organic Green Tea Room and both loved the space. It was like being in our own little tree house cabin. I loved the window seat that allowed my early bird self to lounge and stare out across the valley, bird watch, or read a book. Across the meadow were sheep which made the view idyllic. I'm also pretty sure I saw a Bald Eagle swoop out of the tree right in front of the window one morning. We both agreed that just hanging out in the room would be awesome. Who needed anything else? The bathroom was beautiful and that's where you really saw the loving attention to detail up close. The tiling was tight and obviously done specifically for this location and by someone who has mad skills. The leveled yard feels very private even though you're right off a main drag and I'd love to come back in the summer and have a bonfire. The frogs were cacophonous standing outside in the yard at night, which I'd never experienced being a city girl and all. It was an extraordinary experience, but if you're worried about the noise, just know that once in the house, you could only hear them faintly. A couple of baby deer and their mama came one evening and dozed in the shelter of a big tree at the side of the house. That's how peaceful this location is. And it really is only a couple of miles from the ferry dock, but I wouldn't walk it. If you had a bike, it'd probably be fine. The decorating style reminded me of my own style--COLOR! Color everywhere and lots of fun cultural relics, masks, nick-knacks to ogle. We'll be back!

Luis P.

Yelp
Had a lovely and unique stay at this beautiful guest house. Made a reservation on short notice, and it was handled very professionally and with what felt like personal attention. I would've loved to stay an extra night or two. Price was very reasonable - very quiet and definitely off the beaten path. Our room had a private little deck and the back of the property overlooked an open farm field with sheep and horses, making a perfect backdrop for sitting down to drink coffee and eat breakfast outdoors while watching the birds. The room we got didn't have a private bathroom, but we knew that when we made the reservation. (Other rooms in the guest house do have a private bathroom). I highly recommend this little guest house for a unique and personal experience of the San Juan islands. You won't be disappointed !

D. Marie N.

Yelp
I stayed here on a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest when I found other accommodations in Friday Harbor to be unaffordable. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness, thoughtful decor and lovely grounds. Access to a full kitchen was a great help, as breakfast before kayaking trips and hikes could be hearty and homemade. Juniper is friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the islands. My only complaint, and I would not even call it that, is that Juniper Lane is located quite far from Friday Harbor. As an ambitious walker, I thought I wouldn't mind. However, at the end of a night of great eating and sightseeing, walking more than a mile to get to bed is daunting. Rent a car, bike or moped -- definitely worth the expense. My stay was wonderful, and I truly hope I make it back to the San Juan Islands and to Juniper Lane Guest House at some point in the future.

Tia S.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay. We only had a quick overnight trip to San Juan and got 2 rooms for for guests. The price was very reasonable and the guesthouse was even better than the pictures! Juniper provided every amenity that could be needed and more. All of our interactions were very pleasant and she even gave us history on the area and suggestions for where to hike and eat. We are already planning our next trip to the island and we will definitely be staying here again.

Maureen H.

Yelp
There is a reason this place is reviewed so highly; it is amazing and very affordable. I stayed here for two nights in the Mandala room. This room has a queen bed and shares a full bathroom with another room. Our room was incredibly clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated (as was the entire house), and had its own little deck with a table and chairs. It was absolutely perfect in every way. I love that the house had a shared kitchen. We weren't too successful at finding affordable, good food in Friday Harbor so it allowed us to prepare a few meals on our own. Plus, it was a great space to socialize with the other guests who were absolutely delightful. The rest of the common space is very colorful and inviting as were the grounds of the property. There were hammocks in the back yard, and there were sheep on the large farm next door that you could very quietly hear at night. It was great, but we just weren't there enough to take full advantage of lazing about outside. Maybe next time. My one and only complaint is that there isn't a common half bath in the house. We just arrived at the guest house as someone entered our shared bath to shower. It would have been very nice to have a place to freshen up, but nothing was available. That doesn't knock the review down for me because this inn is incredible; I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Friday Harbor!

Jeff K.

Yelp
We weren't necessarily looking for an ideal place, but we sure found it! Juniper Lane makes you feel right at home in a country setting, without feeling like you're roughing it in a farm bunkhouse. Interior design touches are colorful and creative and the bed was super comfy. We stayed in the Organic Green Tea room for only a night and wished we'd booked for much longer. Kitchen & coffee were excellent. There's a beautiful sitting area out back, overlooking a sheep-filled meadow, that provides a great place to rest and reminds you that you're on vacation. The walk to town is also enjoyable. We took the back way through the wooded neighborhood across the street (gorgeous). Juniper, our host, was very attentive, comforting and laid-back. Thanks for everything, Juniper - hope to see you again soon!

Julia M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here in May and absolutely loved it. It was a steal for the price. The room was clean and very nicely decorated. The location was perfect for us--quiet and tucked away from Friday Harbor, but only a couple of minutes' drive. It was so peaceful here; I loved hearing sheep bah-ing in the afternoon. Juniper seemed to be very hands-off. You check in by punching in a code on the door and grabbing your key. However, she was very quick to respond to my emails when I was booking. I'm sure she'd be just as responsive if you needed something while you were at the guesthouse. Loved this place and hope to make it back someday!

Em B.

Yelp
The only complaint that I have is that we only had one night to stay at this adorable place! The guesthouse is very clean, comfortable and gorgeous and Juniper is amazing, accommodating and a gracious hostess. There was a full range of coffees, teas and hot chocolate to make the chilly night even more cozy. I would never dream of staying anywhere else on the island. Thank you, Juniper, for the fantastic stay!

Jeff T.

Yelp
We stayed in the cabin and loved it. Lots of nice design touches, kitchen was easy to work in and well provisioned. Nice and homey but with easy access to downtown. Juniper was very friendly.

Alison P.

Yelp
This wonderful home turned guest house caters to whatever kind of traveler you may be. The owner herself appears to be well traveled, so she definitely knows how to accommodate a wide range of folks from backpackers to honeymooners. Heck, if you have a special event on the island coming up you can rent the whole place for a reasonable price (it includes a separate cabin that sleeps 4-6 people I believe). It's colorful, eco-friendly, a bit exotic (but tastefully so), homey, and it's centrally located on the island only a few minutes away from Friday Harbor. The owner is a sweetheart as well, be prepared to fall in love with Juniper Lane Guest House. You won't want to leave!

Anna L.

Yelp
We loved this place! Check in was easy, and our room was so cute! We stayed in the Organic Green Tea room. They supplied anything you would need--towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, hair dryer, a fan, and extra blankets. Juniper was very nice and made us feel very comfortable at her place. It was about a mile from town, which wasn't a problem at all because there's lots of parking in town. I would definitely stay here again! It was cozy, comfortable, and had affordable prices for all rooms.

Anne-louise S.

Yelp
Amazing delightful beautiful and comfortable! I felt like I found a treasure. Makes you want to stay there for ever. I will go back there for sure. In fact can't wait to go back

Thomas B.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in early September 2013. We needed a night before our weekend kayak trip and then two nights after; Juniper called us right back and worked it out with us (she has a 2 night minimum to stay here). We had the Organic Green Tea room for all three nights, and we wanted to stay even longer. We were almost instantly relaxed and comfortable as soon as we walked in. From the well-stocked and beautiful communal kitchen, to the expansive bookshelves, to the friendly people we met in the common area, to the wonderful sunny window seat and mint soap and all the other little details, we loved our stay and can't wait to come back.

Tania K.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed one night at the Juniper, in the Pine Room. The minimum stay is two nights, however, they had this one room unreserved for one night, so we were able to snag it. The Inn is beautifully appointed with lush colors and intriguing and lovely decor. There is a fully furnished community kitchen where we stored the food we were travelling with and made coffee and had breakfast the next morning. WiFi was a little spotty, and closing the beautiful, all-wood doors was a little loud, but, it felt very inviting, clean and very lovingly and culturally inclusive. The owners have put a good deal of effort into making this a comfortable and clean place to base yourself while vacationing the island....highly recommended, especially if you are socially inclined and prefer an urban and civilized setting.

Jina A.

Yelp
Cute quiet little inn. This spot was so much fun to stay at. Everything in the guesthouse is unique. Can't wait to come back!

Norma U.

Yelp
We had an awesome time. It's Clean! Comfortable & conveniently close to town. We used the cabin and main house. We will be back. Thanks for all your help Juniper! The Unfugs

Justin C.

Yelp
I'll concur with the other reviews. While I may not have gotten the same transcendant amazingness vibe expressed by other reviews, this place is definitely top in its class. Just realize what class it is. If you're looking to stay at the "nicest place" on the island with the most amenities, best view, best breakfast, etc., this is not the place, nor would it claim to be. If you want a unique, cozy, friendly place that is close to town where you will likely meet some interesting people, this is definitely the place. Every room has a private bathroom, the decorations are very tasteful and unique, and the owner is very friendly. Finally, it is an excellent value.

Yelp
Going to San Juan Island and you'd like to stay somewhere that offers you considerably more than a hotel room (at a considerably more reasonable tariff)? I had the good fortune to have found the Juniper Lane Guest House. The individual rooms are, well, really individual. Each room has its own aesthetic which includes color schemes and appointments. Some rooms have individual bathrooms, some share. Some have televisions, some don't, but there is a television in the living room, along with a stereo and an eclectic collection of books. All (that I saw) are beautifully decorated. And there's the additional amenity of the well-appointed kitchen (great ground coffee provided!), shared by all in the house (which has only five or six guest rooms). It's really more like sharing a vacation rental house than any other simple description I can think of. The interior of the house was renovated employing the efforts of a number of gifted local craftsmen and artists who are friends of the proprietor, Juniper. And the craftsmanship and care that went into the house is apparent wherever you look. The woodwork throughout the house is beautiful and the house contains a selection of arts and crafts collected by Juniper on her travels. Juniper is an über-cool proprietor, always accessible but never overbearing or underfoot. The house is located just on the edge of Friday Harbor. You may want a car for getting around (okay, you "should" have a car, or a bike) and, since Beaverton Valley Road is one of the main roads out of town, you might experience some traffic noise (think about earplugs, if you are a light sleeper). Each room has individual temperature control. I spent a very comfortable week at Junipers in December 2011 (in the Organic Green Tea room, second floor/private bath). Highly recommended. Did I mention that the rates are a bargain?

O WOW let me tell you...this place was amazing!! We missed the ferry to Orcas Island and so had to stay in Friday Harbor and one of the guys working at the ferry told me about this place. At first, I was a little apprehensive because it is a little bit "out of the city", but I am so glad we went. One of the owners was there and treated us with such hospitality, I immidiately felt right at home. My husband and I showered and had planned to go out, but we layed down around 7:30pm and were out until about 7am the next day. I have not slept that well in a VERY long time. It was great...loved the place...clean...reasonably priced....what more can I say?

Yelp
Wow! My sweetie and I stayed here last weekend. We wanted to cycle on San Juan and Lopez and not spend too much dinero. The beautifully equipped kitchen allowed us to cook our own meals. We ate out back overlooking a pastoral scene, relaxed in the peaceful little Mandala Room (which has a great bed, by the way) and enjoyed a full moon and glass of wine on our private deck. Michael has stayed at Juniper Lane before and I will definitely be back. Juniper herself is great - friendly, warm, informative. . . she has created a welcoming, homey and eclectic environment with lots of sweet touches. We just loved our stay!!

Yelp
This is a very lovely guesthouse on San Juan Island. We chose this place since it was one of the more affordable guesthouses on the island. We stayed three nights over the July 4th weekend, and enjoyed its location (just outside of town, away from the hustle and bustle, and easy access to the main roads around the island). A few things we did not enjoy so much -- waking up to the baaa-ing sheep in the morning, a warm room (had to open the curtains and turn on the fan), and the warm bed (maybe due to a mattress protector underneath?). Despite that, we really enjoyed being able to use the common kitchen and prepare our own meals, to save money on costs. Overall, a very unique and charming guesthouse in San Juan Island.

Yelp
a lovingly-restored home converted to a guesthouse that sits adjacent to farmland and forest. located a little bit outside of town, staying at the juniper guest house offers the benefit of exquisite nighttime skies while one wakes up to the whirr of wind passing through the fir trees, with the occasional sound of sheep from the nearby fields. the house is well-stocked with travel mementos, travel books and other literature, and is perhaps best suited for a large group that can rent all five rooms. the kitchen is ample-sized, as are the private bedrooms that are found upstairs. everything at the guest house delivered as advertised. we were happy with the large bed in the regal royal room (as our friends were happy with theirs in the green tea room); we were pleased by the views from the bedroom windows, the large bathtub, the gardens out back by the fire pit, and, most of all, the peace and calm that the inn provided. juniper herself is very charming and knowledgeable about the area and, as the guesthouse is a bit of a DIY affair, she most definitely stays out of the guests' way. we met her on our second morning and ended up exchanging stories about winter travels along the pacific coast in mexico. i'd definitely return during my next visit to friday harbor, and hope that the opportunity to get back to the island won't be too far off.

Yelp
We arrived by bike and had a great stay here. Our room was clean and well furnished, the bed was comfortable, the view out the back window was nice. Very nice to have common areas here, especially kitchen. The provided coffee was good! And we could do a little bit of cooking and keep some beer cold in the fridge to cut down costs a little bit instead of dining out every meal. We did sometimes hear other guests in the night, but not a big deal. The house is also near one of the busier roads from Friday Harbor, so you may hear some traffic. If you are a light sleeper you might want ear plugs but I would not say it was noisy. For the price and the amenities, this is a great place to stay and i wouldn't be surprised if I find myself here again someday. PLEASE if you stay here be respectful of the property and the other guests - it won't work if you come here and want to party.

Yelp
The Juniper Lane Guest House is an absolutely gorgeous home with several beautiful guest rooms. I stayed in the room upstairs with a private bathroom including a clawfoot tub plus a separate shower. I **LOVED** it. The house also boasts a cozy living area where guests can read or relax with a glass of wine, plus a spacious, eat-in kitchen with all the amenities there for you should you choose to save a little cash and make breakfast/dinner in. There is also a charming outdoor patio/garden area where one can yet again relax with a glass of wine and take in the incredible views. The home itself was clearly designed and built with a lot of imagination and love. The woodwork and finishes are of such high quality, and the style and paint choices are whimsical yet elegant. In addition, the location of the house is perfect. It's just outside the island's main village, but within easy walking distance to all the boutiques and restaurants. I honestly think anyone planning trip to San Juan Island should seek out this guest house! It will make your trip that much better!!!

Yelp
Positioned on the edge of town, this place has a pleasant homey atmosphere. We had a nice chat with the owner.

Yelp
I loved my stay here, it was perfect! My little boy and I stayed for two nights in the Green Tea Room and it really was like a home away from home. The house itself it beautifully done (loved our bathroom!) and had a great little yard with many spots to relax and look over the neighboring farm. I really liked the laid back feel of the place and staying in a guest house was ideal, not some anonymous chain hotel but not completely on our own in a vacation rental either. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone going to Friday Harbor.

Yelp
Absolutely loved staying here! We had a large group and everyone enjoyed the beautiful and very comfortable rooms. The back yard with hammocks and fire pit was perfect for evening fun. If you need anything Juniper was extremely nice and helpful. Absolutely would recommend this location and will be staying here again!

Yelp
Wow... This was such a wonderful place to spend a weekend get away with a friend. We stayed in the Cedar Backpacker Room with a queen bed and 2 sets of bunkbeds. I plan to bring my partner back here to visit again. The Guest House is super cozy and tastefully decorated. I loved the warm paint colors and all the locally crafted wood work on the walls and floors. The shared spaces were exteremely welcoming. We cooked our meals in the kitchen, and I savored the free coffee both mornings. Juniper is a very friendly, conscientious, and eco friendly owner. This is a fabulous homebase for exploring the San Juan Islands for people who are looking for a tasteful and home like place and aren't looking to drain their bank account.

Yelp
Highly recommended. Our room and shared bathroom were impeccably clean and very comfortable. There is wifi and satellite TV, but it is a place where you want to unplug and relax with a good book, and/or some wine and s'mores. There is a full kitchen available for guests, and the backyard has cedar reclining chairs and a fire pit. When we stayed there for four nights, there was a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary, a 30-year old woman traveling alone, a group of five female friends in their 50s, a mother and daughter, and another young couple. Everyone we talked to thought the place was perfect. It is one of the more affordable places on San Juan Island. One big thing: this is a mile from Friday Harbor, so make sure you have a car, bikes, or don't mind walking. We walked, and it was fine.

Yelp
Wow. We stayed in the cabin and it was an amazing experience! As others have said, the whole property is beautiful and peaceful, in a perfect location, and just has a good "vibe." The cabin itself is cozy, rustic yet modern, and full of special little details. The kitchen alone makes it worth the affordable off-season rate of $150 per night (we stayed three nights; the rate is slightly higher if you stay only two nights)--it's large, with lots of counter space and well-stocked with all the dishes and cooking implements we needed to prepare our meals. It's a major plus to have a kitchen when staying in the San Juans as the dining options are sparse, mediocre and VERY expensive. True, groceries are pricey on the island too, but it's still cheaper than eating out, as well as healthier and of better quality. We brought what we could from "the mainland" and supplemented with perishables from the market in town. The cabin also has two bedrooms, a huge deck, numerous windows, several good places to curl up with a book, and a TV/DVD player and Dish network. Finally, the hostess, Juniper, is helpful and friendly, while still respecting her guests' privacy. All in all, this is a great find and we will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Amazing find.... warm feel, fun decorations, very friendly and accommodating owner, spotless, fire pit, wifi, sat TV, great location near town, very fair price... the list goes on and on...

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Juniper Lane! We did not stay in the Guest House itself, but in the beautiful, cozy cabin next door that Juniper Lane also manages. The view from the porch is an amazing one of pasture and San Juan's rolling hills! We loved the zen design of both the Guest House and the cabin, and were impressed by how clean and comfortable it was, as well as our hostess' warm and welcoming (yet not intrusive) manner. We will most definitely be back!

Yelp
Fantastic, eclectic, close to downtown friday harbor. We stayed there for two nights in one of the two upstairs rooms (the Regal Royal, other is the Green Tea). Each upstiars room is private and had its own bath, where the two downstairs rooms are bunk style rooms, and share a bath. The use of the full kitchen was great; bring your own groceries. The place was very european in style and feel. The bed was very firm (only thing bad i can say about it). There was an outdoor fire-pit and plenty of outdoor lounging opportunities. No fire for us (summer months had a burn-ban). Otherwise i thought it was a fabulous deal for the dollar. Our private room was an extremely reasonable $135/night compared to much more expensive and less emenative offers. They had many recent and popular books for reading, TV's with DVD player and Sat-TV in each room and lounge; even binoculars to borrow for bird-watching. I highly recommend this place to stay; it's about 1.3 miles from the Friday-Harbor ferry dock, and less to eateries and shopping, and easy bicycle ride, or less than 5 min car ride. It's perfect to be so close, but just far enough to not be bothered by so many "people" when you want a little privacy.
