Yelp
The women in my family has a thing for antique shops, so when we found ourselves in Cambria (aka the cutest little town filled with a BUNCH of antique shops) with such little time, yelp guided me to Junk Girls.
The store's location is kind of interesting; I followed the other yelpers' advice and went through a store that was displayed on the street (also a cute little shop) and found myself in a small garden. The garden was surrounded by a bunch of small shops, and Junk Girls just so happened to be one of them. It was kind of a cool little journey to get there since you discover new shops and get to see the garden along the way, but if youre one of those that just like to cut to the chase, you can get to Junk Girls through the back door through the parking lot.
The store is incredibly small but full of unique little treasures. They take these things that people consider "junk" and remake them into something beautiful. I love that sort of thing, so I was extremely excited while looking around. There are a bunch of things such as forks that are stamped, unique decor, etc, but the place that caught my eye was in the room past the counter. In the room is a wall full of trinkets, where you can customize your own bracelet, necklace or keychain :) My sister and I went to town! I decided on making my own bracelet with a leather band and she decided on a necklace.
Unfortunately, the person that does the stamping wasnt in that day and that was our last day in the area. The worker said that they ship for $2.95, so we agreed. Now I live in Hawaii and was visiting my family that lives in California, so I had asked if they would ship it to Hawaii since I wasnt sure when it would get done and I was leaving the following week. She didnt think they did but had said that the stamper would be in the following day and she'd get it shipped out to us ASAP.
Got our custom jewelry in the mail a few days later! :) Yayyyyyy! And they came out beautiful! We couldn't have been happier.
Overall:
-The store: super small but full of wonder! Totally different vibe. Very rustic feel to it. Easy to navigate throughout the store.
-Location/parking: Can be kind of tricky, but like I said, there is a way straight from the parking lot. Plenty of parking available in the lot or there is street parking.
-Items: Very unique things! My sister and I were super happy with the result. :)
-Convenient shipping and super cheap
The Bleh:
-The salesperson didnt really pay much attention to me upon entering the store, but was helpful while checking out.
-Price: Kind of pricey: $25 for each of the necklace and bracelet. I think it may have been about the same price for non-customized ones, so you may as well make it your own and get one made!
They apparently have an etsy, but when I get back to Cambria ill be sure to visit their shop again :)
