Junky Special

Finally found a shop carrying Sugarcane Okinawa and I was genuinely shocked they still had almost every size available. Especially since most physical and online Americana stores in Tokyo are completely sold out. I didn’t hesitate and purchased on the spot. The only hiccup was the hemming. The staff initially insisted it would take two days, even though I was flying off the next day. After a bit of back and forth, he agreed to do it in 10 minutes… which left me slightly puzzled. If it could be done that quickly, why the initial resistance? That said, no complaints in the end. I was very grateful he accommodated my request. While waiting outside, I got curious about why there was still so much stock and checked the store reviews. Let’s just say… they weren’t great. That might explain it. Or maybe I was just lucky.

My first time going to Junky Special was in 2015 at their previous location. I remember buying a pair of Boots and everything was great (huge selections and good services). However, I went back there in May 2024 and things have changed. Their newer store looked more organized, which the selections was still huge compared to what I remembered in 2015. The problem was some staffs made me feel a bit unpleasant while shopping there (only some staffs, there were also other guys provided good customer service and helped me for a short time when the other guys were busy). I felt like I owed some staffs there to let me try and buy their things (if you know what I mean). In the end, I got what I wanted to buy but I did feel like those staffs didn’t really want to sell to me. I felt a little bit disappointed. But now in December 2025, I just went there and the new staffs are excellent. They were really helpful and everything went perfectly. I think the management team knew what happened and they really fixed the issue. Or I was just lucky this time that I met nicer staffs? I don’t know. I really like their store and selections. I hope they keep their business going and I will come and visit every time I am in Tokyo.

Terrific store, especially for the Buzz Rickson gear I wanted to try on. Sadly, may need 4XL judging by the fit of the 2XL M-65. Prices are far better than on Toyo Enterprises own online store for export, it seems.

Came here to get the whitesville shirts (around 7,700 yen for a 2-pack) but also ended up enjoying the rest of the store's selections. It's a fairly big and quiet store with lots of offerings, easy to browse. They have many unique products and we also picked up a Sugar Cane & Co. denim jacket (around 23,000 yen).

I want to like this store because their selection is amazing but some of the people that work there are a complete turn-off, especially the young and skinny guy. He looked as if I killed his dog or something and I didn’t even interact with him at all the whole time I was there until I went to the register to pay for my items. However, there was a female worker that was very nice and helpful and I probably wouldn’t have bought anything if it wasn’t for her.

The best store in Tokyo if you’re into Buzz Rickson and Sun Surf, they carry a huge inventory of Special edition SS and BR’s jackets/tees. Staffs were attentive enough (depending on who’s working) but if you speak Japanese your experience will be much better. I went here 4 times because I couldn’t get tired of looking at Aloha shirts.

Came here to buy some Japanese denim jeans. They have a lot of great products and choices beyond jeans however. This is a quality shop so you should to do some research to appreciate the quality and price. Japanese denim brands make their products the old fashioned way and top-notch. In USA these jeans would be $200+ but here was $130 with tax free (bring your passport with you to claim).

The store clerk with the pompadour hair cut and leather jacket gives off such a creepy and weird vibe. He followed us and gave a very hostile stare while not saying anything and when you look back at him, he will turn his back and then repeat following us again when we were browsing at items. If he's not doing that, he's checking himself in the mirror. I was going to buy a jacket from here but decided not to, given the poor and hostile customer service. I would rather get it from another online retailer or in a better stores like Hinoya.
