We had a fantastic midweek dinner at the Jura hotel. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. Nice variety of options on the menu, really well presented and tasted great! We were not residents of the hotel, but we saw the breakfast menu which looked superb with loads of options and we were interested to learn that breakfast was available to book for non-residents of the hotel too. Thanks for a great experience!

Walking is good, and can accomodatecthosexwantibg flat walks and those needing more difficult trails.|There is wildlife and whisky.|The Lussa gin is excellent too.|The staff at the hotel were very good, the managing couple who run the hotel and the kitchen are very friendly and personable.|The food was excellent, and prepared with local produce wherever possible.|We really enjoyed our stay. I have no hesitation recommending the hotel and Jura for a holiday

We visit Jura every year and always make a point of stopping by the Jura Hotel for food and drinks. In recent years, it’s been sad to see the place go through a difficult transition with new ownership and a revolving door of management but what a remarkable difference a year has made!||The atmosphere is completely transformed. The staff are better informed, the kitchen has seriously upped its game, and there’s a genuine buzz about the place again. The homemade breads were a lovely touch, the curries had proper spice and depth of flavour, and we even saw the chefs coming out to chat with customers something we appreciated.||It feels like the Jura Hotel is finally finding its rhythm again, with the potential to become a real gastro delight in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable. No microwaved meals here , just thoughtful, freshly made food served with pride.||A special thank you to Holly, whose kindness and attention to our three-year-old made such a difference to our visit. It means so much when the little ones are treated with the same respect and warmth as the grown-ups - it made the trip for all of us.||Please, keep this management team (you know who I’m talking to here) and hold onto your kitchen staff. You’re onto something really good here. We’ll be back next year and can’t wait to see how the chef’s plans for fine dining unfold.||See you then!

I've never encountered a General Manager with a work ethic like it - ironically the only time that Tracey didn't seem to be around was when I was leaving and was going to say "goodbye" and "thank you" (there was somebody else to check me out and wish me on my way, so all good!)! I'd hear that this place was a bit 'hit and miss', but being the only realy place to stay on Jura I was prepared for Fawlty Towers.... However fortunately my visit has coincided with 'new management' and my expectations were greatly exceeded - rooms were lovely, food was great, and the welcome was warm and genuine. I

What a wonderful experience, the quality of dinner and breakfast with the use of exquisite local ingredients, the welcoming helpful staff, the views, the relaxation, the feeling of home away from home. I would certainly recommend this hotel too my friends, which is currently also fairly priced. Renovations will be taking place over the winter we have been told and I hope the pricing remains competitive thereafter. If so I will certainly return.

This a hotel with a difference. It is also a campsite, and possibly the only one on Jura. Cycle and tent friendly and very welcoming. Pitches were on a large field in front of the hotel and next to the beach. The toilets, though unisex, were perfect, clean and modern. They were separate from the hotel as such and were accessed by a key fob which was provided by reception for a returnable deposit. Though we cooked for ourselves, meals are available at the hotel. There is also a small shop nearby which which will cater for most people's needs. Perfect.

Actually staying in a cottage in the village but visited the pub for a drink. Good selection of draught lager and beer but an even better selection of local spirits. Food is delicious and fresh, and quickly cooked and delivered to the table. Reasonably priced food and the local lager is a reasonable £5.50 a pint. Views from the bar windows are unbeatable, and no doubt that applies to the restaurant too. Hotel is just in front of the Jura Distillery, an also must visit when you're on the island.

Quite a mixed experience... In chronological order: Even just arriving was a weird experience. Google doesn't know where the main entrance is, in fact it doesn't even register it as a road. All 3 roads Google does show are either impossible to drive down, or are so bumpy and rutted you might scrape the bottom of your car. The main entrance is visible on satellite view just to the South West of the house itself, on the adjacent road. It is not signposted whatsoever. Check-in was easy, the single member of staff (excluding the chef who does breakfast) came to the front door when I parked, welcomed me in with a handshake. The entry lobby and communal rooms all have very nice, traditional, old fashioned decor. He gave me the key and showed me to my room. The hotel is certainly shabby in many areas. Outside all the plants need to be pruned and weeded, Probably the whole building needs to be cleaned and/or repainted. Inside, the carpet is sporadically worn and dirty. Many areas are off-limits due to pending renovations, the windows need to be repainted or more likely replaced as they are old, wooden and decaying. However, as mentioned earlier the lounge, the bar (not yet functional, pending a licence), the dining room, the entrance lobby and the reception are all lovely. The room was huge, acres of space, bathroom two sinks, free standing bath, a big shower. Could do with a bit of cosmetic TLC but it was highly functional. TV quite small but it did work fine. Service was, again, all done by the one guy. He was very nice and polite, but if the place is busy he might be difficult to get ahold of! Checkout very good and simple, I just left. Key in the room, just walked out of the door, no problem. Overall I did enjoy my time there, but I can only give 3 stars because it is in need of the renovations that are on their way. The place is in a strange limbo state where 11 out of I believe 28 rooms are available, the bar is awaiting a licence and lunch and dinner aren't yet served I think also due to licences. Would love to go back in a couple of years when they are done!
