Best Ice Cream on the Riverwalk! Yes, it’s gelato; but where else are you going to get Oaxaca Chocolate (with a hint of Habanero) Gelato? There can be a crazy long line sometimes; so if you see that there isn’t a line, count yourself lucky and definitely grab a cup or a cone. They have traditional flavors, as well as local favorites, waffle cones, cake cones, and cups. Creamy, comforting, and delicious.

Google
I was craving a churro and Justin’s Ice Cream Co had what I needed. The churro was fine, not freshly made and service here was poor so 3 stars. A friendly face is important and Justin’s didn’t provide that. The ice cream did look though.

Google
This ice cream is so smooth, so rich, so delicious that you have to eat it all ….. yes it’s that good. No toppings needed but they are available …… enjoy some as you stroll along the riverwalk

Really yummy drinks amazing customer service. I personally got the blue daiquiri and it wasn’t too sugary and had a good amount of liquor.

Google
The ice cream was delicious! Karma acted like my ice cream concoction was the best thing since sliced bread, and it made me feel like a VIP customer. I got to customize what I wanted. (Though peanut butter sauce was not available. Hey Justin’s, I suggest adding peanut butter sauce to your toppings.😜) Highly recommend!!

I had the most amazing Sundae at Justin’s. It was a churro sundae with horchata gelato. I wish I lived locally so I could go back for more!

We are so incredibly grateful to Justin’s Ice Cream Company and Rita’s On The River for hosting our Ice Cream Social and welcoming educators into their beautiful space. This event was completely community-driven—and these two local gems went above and beyond to make it happen. From the start, the owner was gracious, flexible, and truly enthusiastic about supporting this event. Justin’s served up delicious scoops while Rita’s gave us full access to their lovely patio space, perfect for mingling, grabbing appetizers, and soaking in that Riverwalk heat. The waitstaff at Rita’s deserves a huge shoutout for their patience and professionalism—they navigated a lively, roaming crowd with a smile and made sure everyone was taken care of, even as we moved around and cashed out at different times. There was ample seating, cold drinks, and lots of laughter—it was the perfect kickoff to our conference week. To Justin’s and Rita’s: thank you for opening your doors and your hearts to our community. You made tons of educators feel celebrated and welcomed. We’ll be singing your praises for a long time!

We got their drinks. 32 oz margarita and got $10 refils

Yelp
Came here after dinner and this hit the spot. I ordered a small red velvet cheesecake and it was tasty. This place is right on the river walk and has some seating outside to enjoy the location.

Yelp
The ice cream might be their own making. I thought it was lacking flavor and overly creamy. Just my opinion. I don't like their "only cashless" option. Putting food on my credit card is never preferred.

Sonya M.

Yelp
I had a taste for ice cream. An officer walking by suggested this place. They let you taste before buying but the service was great. The ice cream was good and creamy. A must-to stop whenever you have a hankering for something sweet.

Yelp
Chris and Danny, helped me at this location today. The place was convenient, next to the river walk. Representation was really well, asked for samples and they helped with that. If you're looking for a nice place to get ice cream near the River walk this is the place.

Yelp
I stopped here after eating at Rita's. I bought some ice cream and a churro! I should've bought two churros because they were perfect. I had some concern about buying a hard, brick-like churro but the churro was not too hard and tasted great. This shop is small and cute. The customer service was A+

Yelp
The ice cream itself was pretty good. Creamy and cold just the way it should be. Not sure it matched the price but it is what it is. However, if I'm going to wait in a super long line just to find out the flavor that I wanted (chocolate) was not available, I wouldn't have waited at all to begin with. It's a pretty basic flavor. Had to make a rushed decision on another flavor cause I hate making people wait.

Yelp
Went there to get what I thought would be a special treat while on the River Walk in San Antonio. When I asked my hotel if they had heard of this place which was close to where we were, they had not. That should had let me know to not visit this place. I tried various flavors and decided on 2 different ones with one being the Heath Crunch and the other of something I can't remember. After really consuming them, I will have to admit they were nothing special. I could have gotten ice cream from the grocery store which I would have enjoyed more. What really set me off was the fact you had to pay by credit card AND they charge you a 3% service charge for the privilege of paying by credit card. We offered to pay by cash to save the 3% yet that is not acceptable. You MUST charge the purchase. If they require you to pay by credit card than add that into the purchase. I was able to see the sign when I looked around the corner where they have all the flavors. This tells me they are trying to hide the extra charge. This is also a very small place which does not have any place to eat your treat. They want to take your money and get you the hell out of their place. In fact, they share the space with a gift shop that had some cute items. I was more impressed with the gift shop than Justin's Ice Cream. I can tell you not to waste your money going to this place. You would be better getting grocery store ice cream or visit a place like Walgreen's to get something from them.

Yelp
Solid homemade ice cream option. Too many on the Riverwalk serve the same ole stuff (blue bell, Ben and Jerry's, kilwans) so it's nice to get something local. Yes- it is a little overpriced like every place on the Riverwalk but at least it's good quality for the money.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
- a lil overpriced ($7) but very satisfying ice cream - very fast service - small casual ice cream shop on side of river walk

Ray B.

Yelp
I ordered a chocolate shake which had no flavor what so ever. It was like drinking cold milk. $11 for a glass of milk.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
The ice cream flavor options here were not mind blowing, but I had the Mexican raspberry, which was delicious. It has raspberries in a Mexican vanilla (read:cinnamon+vanilla) base. The price was a little high, but one has to expect that in a pricey tourist location. My wife liked her mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Yelp
The ice cream was fresh and so nice! We tried the Mexican Vanilla and Rocky Road! It was so yummy. It has a great location on the Riverwalk.
google avatar

Yelp
Tourist trap:  there are a lot of great flavor offerings, but the ones we chose disappointed.  The ice cream lacked the sweetness we expected of ice cream.  The chocolate was bland. The vanilla with berry was very plain. For the high expense, we regretted walking down to the Riverwalk to here, rather than to some other ice cream business.  If you want ice cream, don't go out of your way here.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream! Folks at the counter were very friendly. I had some questions and they knew their stuff. The Riverwalk this time of year is really nice! All was very clean and my family loved the gift shop next door. We will be back very soon!

Rosemary U.

Yelp
We looked them up while on a trip to San Antonio Enjoyed our walk from the hotel and their ice cream flavors were delicious and the view at the Riverwalk was nice.

Yelp
Visited downtown San Antonio for the first time last week with friends and stopped at Justin's for some drinks. I ordered a watermelon rancher and it was good, I believe Erin was the one who made it she was very nice. Ice cream was a little overpriced though so didn't buy it. Had a good experience downtown will be coming again!
google avatar

Gie F.

Yelp
Tourist trap Alert! Nothing special with the ice cream flavor and overpriced.. Seriously though!

Amanda P.

Yelp
Great place to relax on the river with a sweet treat! Mexican Raspberry was so good!!
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
I simply don't understand some of the low reviews for Justin's. How can service be that big a deal - to drop to a 2 or 3 just because the service isn't great - at an ice cream shop where they take your order & give you what you ordered...one and done, not repeatedly over the course of an hour! And yes, it's a little pricey...but it's located on the Riverwalk, so...are you really surprised? Bottom line - this is a nice little ice cream shop with a variety of tasty flavors of high quality ice cream plus sorbet and other fun options. What's not to like about that?!?!?!

Ileana V.

Yelp
Delicious! I had red velvet cheesecake and Mexican brownie. My friend had horchata and Mexican brownie. Quick service. We enjoyed it outside people watching.
google avatar

Julie N.

Yelp
The ice cream here was just what I needed on my stroll down the Riverwalk! The flavors here are unique and spot on. We got chamoy/lime sorbet and the horchata ice cream (it even had the same texture as actual horchata). My only complaint is that they're not open on Sundays--came back the next day before my flight and was super sad that they were closed! I guess I'll just have to come back the next time I'm in San Antonio but until then, I'm going to be dreaming about their horchata ice cream.

Yelp
Being here for school and almost finished, I wanted to get something sweet that I couldn't get back home. I remember passing this place several times and I finally got the change to stop by. The day I went was warm and humid. Perfect for gelato. I somewhat stepped out of my comfort zone and got chocolate chip. The gelato was vanilla with chocolate chips inside. It was perfect. There are tables and chair along the river to enjoy your gelato. So sit down, stop and enjoy the beauty around you. You will see things and notice things you haven't seen if you were walking and eating your gelato. I had to eat it fast because it was melting. I ordered a small on a cake cone. But it was more like a medium. If you dont want gelato, they also serve drinks like espresso and cappuccino.

Yelp
Friendly and smiling. Big plus on a BUSY Saturday night on the river walk. Husband and son walked from our hotel. Took about 10 minutes to get there. He brought me back a toffee vanilla cup and they kindly put it on ice so it would stay frozen and it was! It was great. A double dipped cone and 2 large cups of ice cream set us back 20$ but you're on the riverwalk. That's par and honestly decent price. You won't be sad you came. And whom ever said it's not sweet enough.... They are crazy lol.
google avatar

Trey W.

Yelp
Fairly good ice cream, I tried to get a churro sundea, but, they where out of churros, but it's good overall
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
Didn't quite get ice cream here, but got frozen margaritas instead! Not sure what they put in them, but they were probably the best tasting frozen margs we've had! Soooo refreshing and just enough sweetness to alcohol ratio. I'm not sure if Rita's on the River merged or was just selling their Margs at Justin's for the time being but it said Rita's on their cups. You can mix and match the flavors too - we got Strawberry Mango! We were tempted to go back for seconds, but then we'd never finish the River Walk haha.

Yelp
You will need to get around the river walk and find this place in a very cool hip area with some great little gift stores that with make possible for you bring those momentos to your loved ones. Be aware that these momentos will be a little pricey. The store is very old school and the service is pretty modern. The staff is pretty attentive and they are super quick to get your ice cream and on hand and you on your merry way. I had the banana but bread. If you do not have an allergy to nuts just go for this one. I had it on the waffle cone and let me tell you that I loved it and want some more! My mom had the white chocolate and she was not very found of it. I will probably come back for more.
google avatar

Jaclyn L.

Yelp
Yummy yummy! I wish I had known if you buy something from the gift shop, you get 15% off. We got ice cream first! FML!!!
google avatar

Sean C.

Yelp
I was looking for a great, local ice cream shop and boy, did we find it! We loved Justin's Ice Cream Company. Finding something "local" on the Riverwalk can be kind of difficult, there are so many expressions of larger corporate brands that have taken most of the retail and restaurant spaces. I love Ben & Jerry's, and I love Bluebell, but I wanted something unique and Justin's gave us exactly that. I had the Strawberry Swirl and the Mango Ice Cream and both were delicious! We don't get to San Antonio and the Riverwalk all that often, but I will definitely want to come back here again if we get the opportunity.
google avatar

Kristin R.

Yelp
They aren't currently giving samples and the two people working behind the counter when we went weren't particularly friendly or helpful. It was just okay ice cream. I wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
I must ding them one star since I am an official coffee junky and base all ice cream reviews on their take on any caffeine infused concoctions...and they had a total of zero flavors with that necessity of life in them...I made do with a tasty chocolate habanero cone....
google avatar

Kimberly J.

Yelp
Bomb pumpkin ice cream. Small, hole in the wall, but offers ice cream, sherbet, and gelato. Can't speak for anything but the ice cream I had. Add an extra $1 for a waffle cone but worth it. $6 for my ice cream but it was by the river walk so I knew it would be costly.

Yelp
What's cold, sweet, and irresistible (Besides me)? Justin's Ice Cream is! This place has stolen my heart with their unique flavors and interesting combinations. I tried their pecan Butterscotch ice cream that took me back to my childhood, (think your grandmother's candy jar that she only shared with you, plus a fun flair, and add sprinkles!) This place was beyonddddd delicious, and their FoodK stand offered yummy toppings, such as sprinkles, strawberry/chocolate syrups, and cookie crumbles (the young lady said she baked the cookies from scratch!) I recommend this shop for a tasty ice cream trip.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
The gelato was really good. Had multiple flavors and they were all really good. Would definitely recommend for those walking the river on a hot June day, helps a lot and it's great ice cream!
google avatar

Naomi S.

Yelp
Nice little ice cream shop along the Riverwalk. It's attached to the gift shop so you can't miss it. The Horchata ice cream was everything I needed it to be on this hot summer day! The service was superb!
google avatar

Yelp
I just want to say how lovely the Bartender Monica treated my wife & I. We were passing by to go for dinner & saw that theres drinks togo. Monica greeted us with the biggest smile Very polite & her Margaritas were VERY delicious. We were very impressed with how she kept conversation with everyone at the bar. She even introduced us to what they call "Mexican shots" & they were so amazing I can tell you that is now my togo to shot. Monica made our Anniversary very fun we plan on coming back very soon ! Thank you Monica !
google avatar

Yelp
Ice cream was good but as I was walking out I noticed honey bees laying dead in one of the flavors in the sherbet and sorbet case. I'm assuming the case was left open. How can this Bee? Pun fully intended. Kind of ruined it for me and I doubt I'll go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff was super friendly and attentive, favor recommendations were given and they are delicious!! Hibiscus and mango ice
google avatar

Andy N.

Yelp
The ice-cream taste ok but the service is no good...kind pricey
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Stopped here for an ice cream treat and we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed the pumpkin spice and toffee flavors. Very nice creamy texture and good subtle fall flavors. $6 for two scoops in a cup seems pretty reasonable in highly touristic area of the river walk. Other ice cream options include Ben & Jerry's and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory but we wanted to try something new!

Wen P.

Yelp
I had the Oaxacan chocolate ice cream twice while in town for a business trip. It is incredible. If you like a little spice, this is excellent. It's rich creamy chocolate that has a little burn after about 15 seconds of a bite. It's nothing bad though. The horchata is great too. Mild cinnamon flavor. They only take cards no cash just FYI.
google avatar

Joshua F.

Yelp
We wanted to find some ice cream to end our day and trekked the Riverwalk. We ended up finding this little joint attached to a souvenir shop. They had a few little tables where you could sit indoor or out while enjoying your ice cream. They had several flavors of ice cream, gelato, and frozen yogurt. I went ahead and got the German Chocolate cake ice cream and did not regret. Deep Rich chocolate creamy cream with German chocolate topping and cake pieces mixed in. I really enjoyed this ice cream and will make it a top spot on my short list of San Antonio food places to revisit, for true!

Yelp
After seeing ice cream signs everywhere, my parents and I were craving ice cream for dessert after a nice dinner. Justin's was suggested by our hotel as a good spot for some homemade ice cream. Conveniently located right along the riverwalk in the heart of the touristy area, this was easy to find. Lots of flavors and options, but the lady behind the counter wasn't too enthusiastic with us trying some different flavors (oops). I ended up getting a scoop of pumpkin pie and a scoop of tiramisu (way too rich). Ice cream was yummy other than that! Justin's was a good place to try, but I honestly liked Belgian sweets better!
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Justin's is a small ice cream and gelato shop on the Riverwalk. I kept it simple and got plain chocolate ice cream in a cup. There were three tiny cafe tables to sit at inside. It is housed with a tiny souvenir shop. We got there pretty close to closing time. The ice cream was very creamy and chocolatey. The young man who waited on us was nice. They had a great selection of ice cream and gelato. They even had a couple of flavors for those 21 and over that included wine or alchohol. It's a cute little place and seems to be a favorite among the locals.

Beth S.

Yelp
We love their Mexican Vanilla ice cream! Our family went to the Riverwalk several years ago and happened upon Justin's. It was a hit right from the start and we have talked about their ice cream ever since. We went back to the Riverwalk just recently on our way to Corpus Christi, and made a special stop at Justin's. Hallelujah they had Mexican Vanilla as one of their choices! It cannot be beat, and we now buy Mexican Vanilla as our vanilla of choice when baking. It makes a tremendous difference in your recipes. We would love the recipe of your vanilla ice cream!
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Pretty good ice cream with interesting flavor choices and lots of variety. Little gift shop are too. Kind of expensive but that to be expected in this area.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Another typical boring ice cream shop that uses mass-produced unhealthy ingredients. Ingredients such as carrageenan, mono and diglycerides, high fructose corn syrup, and a host of other stabilizers. This is a day and age where people want healthy options. This is not the place.
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
Cute place to stop at when strolling through the river walk. Nothng special, the counter is mostly worked by young people that seem to only serve you if you wave at them or say hey, as i was patiently waiting my turn behind a touristy family and got cut in line by a man that caught the employees attention..like..seriously? if i crave ice cream on the river walk, i might go back. The ice-cream itself was ok. Nothing spectacular.
google avatar

Vin S.

Yelp
It's easy to be mediocre along the River Walk. Tourists are here by the thousands, and it's easy to sell ice cream and gelato on warm nights. I recently had a chance to try several tastings of Justin's ice cream. All were universally too sweet. I even asked the server for their tartest flavor, which was orange sorbet in this case. Still too sweet. My friends ordered gelato and seem to enjoy it. So maybe it's just me. But after having many dishes of the the world-class gelato sold Bobboi in La Jolla, nothing else can really compare. On a positive note, Justin's has a bunch of flavors. So there's plenty to choose from. Even if it's only meh..

Yelp
Justin's is a great option for some house made ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. I really wanted a cone of something that I couldn't also get in the freezer section of a grocery store...and funny thing...I realized after I walked in, that this is where I stopped for ice cream the last time I was in San Antonio a few years ago. The staff encourage sampling which is great since they have some interesting, less common flavors. I ended up deciding on an apricot gelato waffle cone; it was very good! Creamy, with a nice natural flavor. The small for $4 is really about 2 scoops, so unless you really want a big cone, the small will probably do it! The last time I was here, I had pineapple gelato. How do I remember that? Because It was good, and I haven't seen it anywhere else. The only downside, is that they do run out of flavors on busy days. Last time I was here, it was near the Festival of Flowers...and today is the Super Bowl! They still had a very large selection today though! Only a few had run out. Last time, they were down to just a few flavors left by early evening.
