Old favourites and new finds in the Fragrant Harbour - SilverKris

"An unassuming SoHo cocktail bar that specializes in fruit liquors and impeccably balanced cocktails, offering a sophisticated yet unpretentious night out a short walk off the main streets. Though low-key compared with some newer openings, the drinks and atmosphere reward those willing to stray from the usual routes." - Michelle JN Lim

Google
Perfect family-friendly apple orchard. Peaceful fields and lovely mountain views with plenty of photo spots. U-pick apples straight from the trees crisp and sweet. There are play areas and space for kids to run around. Before you leave, stop by the farm store for fresh apples and tasty local goodies; they make great souvenirs. Relaxed vibe, fun day out—we’ll be back!

Google
Great visit to our local apple orchard. I even chatted with one of the Justus family who was working who was super nice. The place is so much more than an orchard because there are lots of preserves and apples, plus the bakery, plus the bar (lots of beers on tap, games for kids, and a playground. Plenty of seating in different areas and plenty of parking. We didn’t get a chance to pick our own apples, but it’s because we came at the end of the weekend. We tried SO MANY apple goodies. I think my favorite was the fried apple pie and the apple pie slushie. I did like the empanada too. The apple cider donuts were nice too. I was a little sad they had run out of fritters but I came late in the day. My only critique is that each child activity is $5. I’d rather just pay $10 and let them do whatever they want. We will definitely be back

Google
Very limited on apple selection. Great bakery though. The handicapped access to the store was very far away. Bathrooms are down hill from the store. This is a good place for family fun. The apple cannon was fun for all. Be sure to get your ticket before walking back to the cannons.

justin C.

Google
Beautiful family orientated orchard and farm. Busy time of year in fall but lots of activities from walking the orchard, apple Cannon, picking apples, wagon rides, playgrounds, jump pads, food, and brews for the adults. Enjoyed are quick stay and will return! Cheers!!

Google
Great place to visit for apples and other farm fresh items. Add it the hard apple cider distillery and you have a great place to enjoy. Kid friendly play area helps keeping kids entertained. The hard apple cider was some of the best I've had and look forward to going back again I. The near future.

Google
After exploring the various orchards over the years we can confidently say this one is our favorite. We love the property, food from the bakery, and how nice everyone is. We missed the u pick season this year, but we enjoyed still roaming around. And we really appreciate how pet friendly this property is. Our pup made friends and happily enjoyed all the good sniffs!

Google
We had such a wonderful time at Justus Orchard! 🍎 We stopped for apple picking while traveling from Asheville back to our home in Atlanta, and it was the perfect family outing. The orchard was beautiful, and the trees weren’t very tall, which made it easy for the kids to pick their own apples. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we loved that they allowed us to bring our dog along. We also enjoyed the fresh donuts and cider — the perfect fall treat! Such a great place to make family memories, and we’ll definitely be back.

Google
Our favorite orchard. We recently visited Hendersonville for the first time and visited 3 orchards. This one was our favorite. They offer a military discount too. We loved all the bakery items, they have some different ones. Prices on apples were better than some places. We will be coming back.

Yelp
Great taproom! Wide selection of draft, canned beer, ciders and win Excellent friendly staff Great place for large parties to meet

Yelp
Wonderful place. What's better than Apple Cider Donuts?! Very friendly, accommodating and comfortable. A must visit!

Yelp
We were so impressed with our trip today. We brought our puppy with us and he was excited to walk through the orchards, meet other pups, and have yummy apple slices and treats. The orchard has a stand where you can try before you select, which led to us getting more varieties than we planned on. The staff were all cordial and kind in answering questions. I definitely have a new favorite in the cider slushy. It's amazing.

Yelp
Despite having had a home in the area for 15 years, we got off of our typical path and made our way to Justus Orchard. What a delight! The facilities were nice and clean and there was something for everyone (u-pick, they-pick, a backery, a taproom and plenty for the children and young at heart to do! We had a wonderful time and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and engaging. We look forward to returning with friends and family in tow!

Yelp
Awesome place! Great doughnuts and fritters. Children will like visiting. There are many activities for the whole family. Everyone is friendly! We even met Chris Justus' parents (WYFF 4) and they were working right along with everyone else. It's a relaxing environment and we enjoyed picking the apples. I'm so glad that the storm didn't destroy the property. We went for my birthday weekend 10/12/24 and there were plenty of apples. We also came home with apple butter, salsa, jelly, etc. Great weekend activity!

Cathy B.

Yelp
Perfect way to spend a few hours. Rocking chairs overlooking the orchard-wonderful apple goodies! Fried apple pies and fritters that remind me of what my grandma made. Apples were fresh and delicious! Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend

Teresa M.

Yelp
My family and I had a great time at Justus Orchard. There are plenty of activities for children of all ages. They have a playground, jump pads, a basketball hoop game, targets to shoot with apples, and more. You pay a reasonable price for select activities. They have a gift shop, food truck, a family friendly bar area with different flavor ciders and live music. There were plenty of apple tress to pick and choose from. The views around Justus Orchard are gorgeous! Dog friendly as well. Justus Orchard will keep your family entertained all day. My family and I loved our visit and will return next year!
google avatar

Robert A.

Yelp
A fun place for apples. And the food truck was exceptional. The cider was perfect. The Apple fritters were not my favorite thing. Next time I will try the Apple dumplings.

Yelp
Simply a wonderful place to collect your apples during apple season. Whether you are looking to pick them yourself, or buy a bag full of pre-picked goodness, they have a huge variety of different types fresh picked and ready to go. They also sell plenty of farm standards such as vegetables, preserves, and other fall goodies. The highlight here though is the freshly made items, made with their apples. You can get apple turnovers, fritters, pies, donuts, cider, cider slushies, basically anything that you can think of with an apple component. They have it. I ordered a couple of apple cider donuts and WHOA. These might have been the best donuts I have ever had, no cap. They were warm, fluffy but just a tad on the doughy side (perfect), packed full of rich apple flavor and just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar to balance. I should have taken home an entire dozen for later. I also got to try a bit of apple pie and a sip of a frozen cider slushie, both of which i recommend based on your tastes. I'm convinced that with the quality of their apples and generations of refining their recipes, there is no way you won't be pleased with your selections. The apples we took home, all sweet and delicious. Perfect crunch and texture. Not a bad apple in the bunch. If you are going apple picking in the NC mountains, this is your destination!

Yelp
Came for apple picking and it was such a great experience! We came on a weekday so some of the activities weren't running but the fact that they have a fenced-in playground is wonderful for little kids! They have a lot of covered seating too which is great! We came 2nd week of September and, unfortunately were limited to picking 1 peck of apples because they said their u-pick trees were running low. That was probably the only downside. Otherwise, definitely worth the visit!

D D.

Yelp
Best apple turnovers ever. Delicious. Great staff. Of all of the orchards, this is my favorite.

Yelp
This orchard is a must visit if you're in the Greenville, SC or Asheville, NC area. We've been coming here yearly as a family and introducing our friends to this family friendly establishment. Bring a picnic or buy a picnic on site. Enjoy a fresh apple off the tree, for desert. There are so many activities for the little ones, they'll be sure to be tired out after a day out at this beautiful orchard.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Friendly & clean are the two words that first come to mind. Although the apples for the season had switched over to "we pick," we didn't mind a bit. The little country store where they have their baked goods and the "we pick" apples had plenty of apples to choose from. We stopped by the tasting table and had the opportunity to try a few varieties of apples: Cameo, Pink Lady and an Arkansas Black apple. All were good, but we ended up going with the Cameo as it was our favorite and not an apple we'd had before (we love to try something new!) Of course, we couldn't leave without trying their baked goods. We ordered an Apple Fritter, some Cinnamon Apple Donuts and a couple of the Apple Hand Pies. All warm and all delicious! We enjoyed two cups of ice cold cider as well to cap it off. All enjoyed on the side porch picnic tables. What a treat! Highly recommend. We will be back!

Yelp
We have been going to pick apples at Justus Orchard for years and years. Our last visit we tried the fried apple pies, and I have to say that in our opinion they are the best around. Yummy!!
google avatar

Yelp
Another good way to hop in the car, be outside, and away from crowds. Bad part is we just missed apple picking season. But certainly would like to come back when the season returns and it warms up. Able to try the warm apple donuts.... AMAZING!!! Ended up buying a half dozen.

Yelp
This orchard had lots of things for adults and kids to do! When we pulled in kids were jumping on the big jump dome and having a blast! We were greeted as we entered and asked if we had any questions. The nice lady told us how the apples were sold and suggested a mountain cabbage. She said something about growing them in the side of the amounts in makes them sweet... so I had to buy one. These things were huge.... The one I got was about 10 pounds!! The apple house was packed as people were trying to check out with only one register open. The line was very long and we had to wait for about 15 minutes to pay for our order. This is a great orchard to visit with children and they have a great bakery!

Rob L.

Yelp
We drive up here from Simpsonville Sc multiple times a year! Definitely worth the drive:)

Yelp
Tomorrow is the last day of their season. Bought 1/2 BU of Romes and Pink Lady's. Beautiful apples, no crummy smaller ones in the bottom of the bags. Reasonable pricing, very friendly and informative service. Definitely going back in early October 2022 for their baked goods, maybe some BBQ on a weekend. And definitely for more apples. High marks, lovely facility and beautiful, well kept orchards.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Justus' Apple Orchard. I'm in Hendersonville, NC almost every Saturday, Justus is eleven miles from my location. It was a nice scenic drive out to the Apple Orchard. Some of the scenery reminded me of Amish country in Ohio. I visited last Saturday and they only had Golden Delicious, Early Fuji and Honey Crisp picked. Macintosh apples weren't ready, the apples I wanted. The bathroom facilities are two portable bathrooms. They also have the Apple cider donuts, fresh apple cider and slushes. It was a nice visit, but my favorite orchard of the two I've visited is Sky Top. I ended up going to Sky Top because the Macintosh apples aren't in yet at Justus Apple Orchard. I did buy half a dozen of Apple cider donuts, I think those are better too at Sky Top. It's a nice Orchard, just out of the way for me, driving back to South Carolina on highway 25.

Yelp
Nice place. Kid friendly with the bounce area and U-pick apples. Good Apple products like donuts, fritters and pies. Hershey's Ice Cream. They had only 4 different varieties of apples when I was there. The Fugi apples we bought ($12 half peck) taste better than they look although a bit on the hard side. The orchard is off the beaten path a bit which helps with the crowds but for me , Grandads has better produce, better variety of apples and more for the kids to do with a petting area, pumpkin patch and corn maze.

Catrina N.

Yelp
Cute little family friendly apple farm. There were a lot of different activities and a little playground area for kids. My husband and I picked apples and pears. It was our first apple picking experience and we both enjoyed it. The barn area and shop were cute with a lot of different apple items for sale. We also tried the apple cider slushies and they were delicious!
google avatar

Aileen D.

Yelp
This place is just beautiful; great family activity. The Pick Ur Own blackberries are paid by honor system; pay for your container and start picking blackberries. The bush height was low enough for toddlers to pick their own berries. Also there is large pond with some ducks and also goats and peacocks adjacent to the blackberries that is fun for little ones as well. There was enough place for everyone to be socially distanced. Great place!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great time at the orchard. It took us about 45 min from the Greenville area, and we spent about 2 hours there - and we didn't even make it to the animals. This place was so fun with kids - wore them out playing and picking apples. The cider donuts were really good, but the fritters were heavenly... and warm. Omg. And definitely get a slushee. The bounce pillow and train ride are a few dollars extra. Prices on apples are super reasonable. We just started eating our way through them, and the honey crisp are delicious. This is the only orchard we have been to so don't have a point of comparison, but it wasn't overly crowded, and there were plenty of apples at kid-height to pick with a lovely view. We will go back!
google avatar

Jimmy H.

Yelp
This is probably our favorite orchard in the area. It's kid friendly (they just built a new playground), the apples are good, and the donuts/fritters/desserts are great! There is plenty of parking, some of which is shaded. There is also plenty of seating for those interested in bringing a picnic lunch and then enjoying the desserts while your kids play. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Definitely worth the drive!! This is now our annual mountain getaway trip and priority number one is visiting Justus before anything else. Love everything about this orchard. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Warm apple donuts alone are worth the trip - trust me, get them and stand in line for them, you won't regret that decision. Always bring home a variety of apples. Check their ripening/picking schedule online before you go to see what js available based on your needs. Thank you for continuing to allow us to make wonderful memories there as this tradition will continue on when we have kids.

Yelp
How bout dem apples! This was my first time picking apples and I had a great time despite the rain. Justus Orchard is a fun, family place to get out and have a good time picking some apples. They have a variety of apples and tons of trees. You can pick the apples from the tree or you can pick apples from the bins where they've already picked the apples for you. You pay per the peck and they have different sized pecks. They different size pecks very in price. They provide you with all the equipment you'll need: wagon, basket, long pole picker and pecks. After you're finished picking your apples, you can enjoy some delicious apple treats in their cafe. They have hot and cold cider, apple donuts, fried apple pie and apple fitters. You can also purchase these items along with various jams, chow chow and dough mixes.

Yelp
Not a mask worn by anyone! Not the employees, not the patrons. Don't waste your time. We literally pulled in and pulled right back out. What the!
google avatar

Marcella S.

Yelp
We went for the first time and it was fun! There were plenty of apples to choose from. We picked a few of our own off of the trees and some from their bins that they had available. You have to order their apple cider doughnuts, fried apple pie and fresh cider. So fresh, not artificially sweet and delicious! Great place to spend the day and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Linda B.

Yelp
Blackberry picking and Apple picking. Very nice orchards with activities and apple pastries! Family friendly!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Delicious apples, beautiful orchard, quaint little store, fun stuff for everyone, and the best fried apple pie I've ever had!
google avatar

Rhonda H.

Yelp
We've been enjoying this orchard for about three years now, and love it! We can get AMBROSIA Apples, which are hard to find! We brought our son and grandson last year, and now I think it could become a family tradition! There are activities for kids, a little kiddie "train ride," a jumping pit, long handled apple grabbers, wagons to pull/push, and all the food is delicious. MUST TRY!
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The people are SUPER friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The apple cider donuts are delicious. The apple cider slushies are also amazing. My daughter asked for one, and I said "no" at first, because most slushies are just sugar water. The staff then informed me that their slushies are made with only apples, and no added sugar. So we bought one. After a few slurps, we went back and got one more for mom and one more for dad. We did the "u-pick", and the orchard was easy to navigate. The apples themselves were plentiful, of high quality, and like everything else here -- delicious. The varieties that we picked were Mutsu, Golden Delicious, and Jonagold. If I lived closer, I would come here every week during harvest season. If you live close, enjoy it! -Green with Envy in Greensboro

Yelp
I've never been to an orchard before, but I will never go back to store-bought apples. Not only are they cheaper, it's fun and you learn a lot about apples. I don't even like buying my apples at farmers' markets! I've gone twice now, once on a sunny day with my basket and once on a rainy day where I rushed a little bit more. My first adventure was a couple of hours where I sampled apples as I walked around, enjoyed learning about which ones were ready for picking, ate an apple cider doughnut or two, and enjoyed the smell of BBQ and the view of a hayride. I can't wait to do that next time though. They remembered me the second time. This time, there weren't as many apples on the trees so I got my basket filled but also bought some pre-picked ones. They have pumpkins ready and in the fall, they will have barbeque and hayrides. Growing up in the suburbs, I'm glad I can enjoy such adventures though if you grew up here, I bet it's not as great.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Justus Orchard is a little off the main road where many of the other apple orchards/farms are, but it is well worth the extra 10 minute drive to get there! Even in late October they still had plenty of "pick your own apples" available. Their apple pie was the highlight of our trip to North Carolina -- not overly sweet. It was so good that we bought another one!

Rebekah F.

Yelp
Our family had a great time! My only regret was not grabbing some more cider for my son and some donuts!
google avatar

Kathie M.

Yelp
Amazing warm apple fritters! Also enjoyed the cider, apple cider doughnuts, and apple pie with our family on a recent trip.

Yelp
The orchard looks very nice. New refreshment stand adds quiet a lot to the place. The apples look nice and a nice variety. We were greeted by a very nice gentlemen that worked there. However, selecting my bag of apples, I walked too closely to the box holding the apples and ripped a pair of $50 cargo shorts. Upon telling the cashier and another employee standing with her that I ripped my pants on the tin sticking out of the big box containing the apples, the response was, "oh, well, at least you did not cut yourself." I would have expected more, at least an apology and some concern as the pants could have easily have been my leg or later a child's arm, etc. The tin sticking out of these boxes is dangerous and should be repaired or something put over it to keep one from tearing clothes or cutting themselves. What was upsetting was that we were on vacation and it was the second time I'd worn these pants, not the mention the don't care attitude of the employees.

Yelp
This is just another example of why some people shouldn't own or operate a business and why "petting zoo a " should be illegal these people had a donkey that damn near but my daughters finger off and the ignorant lady taking the money said they might have ice and pointed to a huge line of people waiting for some disgusting food they where serving they should be shut down and I will be contacting local health officials there was nothing bud stand still mildew water where children where playing and almost every apple was bruised tbh lol I would never let my children or anyone's children go here please steer clear of this trap disgusting just deplorable conditions for animals and people

Jamie A.

Yelp
This was my first time ever visiting an orchard and picking apples. I was very pleased with the service, variety of apples (I truly didn't realize how many types of apples there were) and price. We left with a 1/2 bushel of apples for us, 1 1/2 bushels of deer apples and homemade apple butter. Can't wait to bring my kids one day.
google avatar

Spencer C.

Yelp
Delicious apples, wonderful family environment, lovely owners, and fair prices. Will be by again!
google avatar

Sue L.

Yelp
I take my grandchildren here every year, and we have a blast! Highly recommend for a great family fun day.

Anita H.

Yelp
My daughter and I took the grands there right before the end of the season. The kids had a great time playing on the equipment and eating apple treats. Sadly, there weren't apples to pick but we all enjoyed our time there. A plus--it's off Hwy 64 enough that it's not a "zoo" to park and enjoy the outdoors.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! My dad and his girlfriend are in town and she loves going to "you-pick" type farms so we googled what was in season and where we should go to pick. This orchard had a listing for thornless blackberries about 25 minutes from south Asheville so we took the trip. When we arrived, we were a little scared because even though we double checked the hours of operation online, it looked sort of empty and there was a sign that said "closed". However, we saw the blackberry trees so we called the number listed on the website and a lovely young woman answered and told us that they were indeed open, and to drive to the other entrance. The location where we met her was ADORABLE. We originally mistook it for just another home, because the owners live right next to the orchard and share a delightful little pond with the you-pick customers. The young woman showed us the different basket options and the price was super reasonable. I think we got three of the smaller baskets for $20. She also told us all we could eat was free. We were absolutely STUFFED with the freshest and most delicious blackberries we had ever tasted within ten minutes of our arrival. We filled our baskets and sat down under the gazebo to rest and enjoy the many farm animals they have living by the pond. I was so impressed and I can't wait to bring my other family members back for future visits and for whatever fruit is in season next! These people were so friendly and welcoming, if you want a true southern hospitality type experience, this is the place. I loved watching the little ducks and goats around the pond!

Daniel M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely stunning! The drive over is well worth it! The view the entire time is absolutely beautiful! And upon arrival you can tell this is a well organized facility! We were passing thru before the season of harvest had begun! But the flowers where in full bloom and boy was it breathtaking! The way the trees and blooms roll on the hills! It has to be a magical place when able to walk and pick a delicious bunch of apples! And to hear what all they offer, it has to be a wonderful vacation spot. Even though they were not open open for harvest season the owner came over and very friendly chatted with us! You can tell he cares about the guest feeling welcomed! Can't wait to come back! Yelp
Best orchard around! We love Justus!! We always go for the Honeycrisp Apples. This year they doubled the parking and the bakery section which I highly recommend the Apple Slushy and the Apple Donuts are a must!!! Super nice family and staff! Well worth the extra miles you drive!! Not as crowded as other orchards around here!!! It is definitely a must!!

Yelp
This is a beautiful orchard with lots of fun for the family. Pets on leashes were welcomed. We saw many well behaved dogs on their leashes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Veggies, preserves and gift items are in abundance to choose from. The line for donuts was always long during our visit but worth the wait. This is a wonderful place to spend the day with your family or friends.
