Short version: Eh, not worth the price, especially if you're paying more than $250/night. Beds are nice, hotel looks nice, points for the bathtub existing and size, mirror lighting in the bathroom, and decent smelling bathroom soap. Showers are a nightmare to try and operate, bar is more expensive than bars *inside* Disneyland, desk staff are largely useless/poorly trained, TV offerings are lackluster, and property's stated amenities such as the zen garden and outdoor spaces are exaggerated. Your local garden center store has a better setup for you to enjoy.
Just returned from a second stay at this property, and it was worse than the first stay, which was a disappointment as it cost quite a bit more than last time. Upon arrival, it was clear that the desk agent was so new, I don't know if she'd received any training on the system at all. She asked if this was our first stay, when they should know we had just been at the property 3 months prior. When asking about the reason for travel and my expressing that I was taking a brief pause from real life, as I had just experienced a substantial death in my family and needed to rest and recharge, the rep clearly didn't know how to respond. Pro Tip for the hotel: don't have your desk agents pry about people's reasons for travel if they're not going to be properly trained for any and all responses. There was zero explanation of hotel amenities.
Asked for a quiet room on a high floor/away from the elevators. We were given what was probably the worst room in the entire hotel, which would've made sense if we had booked on a discount site / third-party website, but nope we booked direct and are registered for the Bonvoy program. Receiving the worst room in the entire hotel was not an appropriate assignment for a full priced guest who booked direct, was staying one night, and had just told you their life was upside down and they needed a break to breathe. We were on the third floor, which is the first floor for rooms, next to the ice machine and elevators, with a ton of mechanical equipment right outside our window.
You had to fuss with the impossible to navigate handle in the shower, where micro degrees of turning the handle would randomly alternate between freezing cold, somewhat cold, warm, and occasionally even hot water. If the water was almost the correct temperature and you tried to adjust it the slightest amount of pressure would get you a wildly different water temperature.
- The showerhead set up and the ability to adjust them is also ridiculously challenging and not even remotely relaxing. I've stayed at much cheaper properties with far better showers that are actually enjoyable. The room was rundown and had lots of little finish and fixture damages and defects throughout the room and the bathroom. The hot water handle on the bathtub was completely loose and the entire fixture was not attached to the tun anymore, and we were afraid to operate the bathtub in case the entire handle would outright break. Trying to drain water from the bathtub generated a horrifically loud drain noise that was unexpected and unwelcome. The screeching drain noise at midnight was the opposite of relaxing.
Granted, no relaxing was to be had because of the constant elevator machine noise, ice room noise and general slamming of doors and housekeeping that started a racket well before 8 AM.
Also:
The bar charged $18 for a Red Bull and shot of vodka. My $22 old-fashioned was bitter and not at all worth the price of admission. The hotel room thermostat would not go less than 65°, which was too warm for us.
I think the most disappointing part about this hotel is it's got 80% of the right things for a great experience. Where it falls down are on basic maintenance, basic training, ridiculous shower set up that I don't understand how anyone enjoys or thinks is a good idea... this hotel is so close to greatness, it's infuriating. I also noticed after our first day we received a feedback survey and I received an email and phone call from the room manager, but this time not only were things worse than the first time, but there was no survey and no request for feedback. We also tried to self checkout but couldn't figure out how, so we checked out at the front desk. Despite telling her my room number, and handing her the key cards with the room number written on it, the desk agent failed to process our check out and accidentally checked out our neighbors who were only one night into a four night stay. I ended up having to download the app in order to process our checkout correctly.
Highly recommend you book elsewhere. I will be.
