Greater Palm Springs Now Has a New Autism-Friendly Resort - AFAR

"An 893-room, 450-acre Palm Desert resort — the largest in the city with sweeping Coachella Valley views — has become the first hotel in Greater Palm Springs to receive Certified Autism Center accreditation from IBCCES. The designation followed staff training during 2022 and an IBCCES sensory audit, and reflects a property-wide commitment to accommodate guests with a range of neurodivergent conditions, including autism and ADHD. Practical changes focus on managing sensory environments: signs throughout the grounds rate sensory impact on a 1–10 scale for each of the five senses, a special property map (available at the front desk and via QR code) highlights low- and high-sensory areas (for example, putting greens and lawns are labeled low while the arcade and aviary are high), and a bin of soothing tools — noise-canceling headsets, fidget toys, weighted blankets, and other aids — is available for guests to check out. The resort emphasizes empowering staff to meet guests where they are so families with different needs can access its many activities and amenities comfortably." - Matt Villano

I just visited the Marriott with my family today and the visit was fine. We stayed in the griffin suite . The room was fairly clean but I’d expect it to be more clean for what we payed for the room. The shower door was dirty, shower head dirty and any time we showered water got everywhere! The fridge door was a little dirty also. The staff was welcoming and the room service staff were great. We had an ac issue and staff out within 10 minutes to fix the issue. I’d opt out of eating from the hotel at all. We payed close to 200$ for my husband baby and myself for breakfast room service. We did get a lot of food but we couldn’t save any of it due no microwave and a small fridge. The property is beautiful, the pools were nice and relaxing but could have been cleaner . Seeing the geese and koi fish on the property was nice for us and our toddler. Overall expect to spend alot of money just for food alone, restaurants open around 5 , make reservations for the boat ride online and enjoy the arcade on site, it’s like a Dave and busters .

I stayed at the JW Marriott in Palm Desert for the Insurance Allegiance Conference and was blown away by the property. The amount of banquet and meeting space is impressive, making it perfect for large events. The grounds are stunning, with beautifully maintained landscaping and serene views. Amenities are top-notch—a full spa, a badass arcade, a really nice gym, a golf course, several inviting pools, and even a gondola boat that glides right through the lobby. Multiple bars, including one at the pool, and several excellent restaurants make it easy to relax and unwind. There are even some very cute clothing and gift shop stores on the property. It’s most definitely a full service/one stop shop. You can literally just stay at the hotel and have everything you need. My room was equally impressive, featuring a spacious walk-in shower and a separate deep Japanese-style soaking tub. The private patio opened right off the bedroom and offered a peaceful, secluded spot to enjoy the view. This conference truly felt like a vacation thanks to the resort-style setting, luxurious rooms, and exceptional facilities

Food was better than expected and all of the employees were so friendly and accommodating. Shout out to Drew at the check in counter for making our last minute stay so great and pointing us in the right direction for golf and activities Golf course was fun and beautiful, well maintained 10/10 will be coming back

Great Value and service in the desert. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 15 years, and it continues to provide an elevated level of service. The pool and upgraded pool lounges were a good value. The pool and lobby restaurant food was better than most. Rooms are clean, and the hotel offers status upgrades. I plan on returning in January. A solid JW

Just got back from a long weekend here and it was absolute paradise. The resort is massive and feels like its own world – the lobby is stunning with panoramic views, and the grounds are impeccably maintained. We loved taking the boat ride through the canals! Our room was spacious and comfortable with a great balcony. The real stars are the pools; there are so many to choose from, so you never feel crowded. We spent our days floating in the lazy river and our evenings at the fire pits. The spa is also top-tier, definitely worth the splurge. Service was impeccable from check-in to check-out. Everyone from the bell staff to the pool attendants was genuinely friendly and helpful. It's the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation. We'll definitely be back New chat

From the moment we arrived at the JW Marriott in Palm Desert, we were treated with exceptional care. Eva and Jerry at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure our accommodations were exactly what we desired.||We initially requested a specific room style based on our preferences and previous stays. While our first room had all the amenities, the location wasn’t ideal. Eva quickly offered another option. When that room still didn’t fully meet our expectations, Erin patiently and with a smile found yet another room. She even enlisted Jerry to personally escort me to ensure it was perfect and it truly was.||Their professionalism, patience, and genuine care for guest satisfaction were phenomenal. To top it off, we received a followed up to ensure everything was perfect. Customer service like this is rare these days! JW Marriott, you’ve set the bar high!

I didn't understand the value proposition here. The rooms are very average at best and amenities are fine but pricey. Golf course is very nice and probably the highlight. But at $600 a night to stay in shoe box that feels about the same as best western? I just don't get it. The hotel is very loud and there just isn't that much interesting to do. It's far from downtown Palm springs and there isn't really any things of note nearby. I didn't two nights there with my wife, ate breakfast on premises and had room service once. Also went to the spa and had 2 massages. Bill was $2500. I just don't get it.

First time here and slightly disappointed. The staff wasn’t rude, but wasn’t attentive or welcoming. The only friendly staff we encountered was Brian who was a server at one of the restaurants and the chef at Mikado. The pool area was great. The room however had small bugs on the bathroom counter and bugs on the carpet in the room. We had high expectations for a Marriott resort that were not met. Would not consider booking again.
