JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa

Had a recent business trip here. First time in Palm Springs. Hotel about 25 minutes from local airport. It is across from a good size shopping area with some restaurants and grocery store. The property is very nice as you would expect for a J.W. Several restaurants and very nice pool/spa area onsite which I didn’t use. I did have dinner and breakfast at Rockwood Grill and Fisherman’s Landing on site,Both meals were good and service was as well. There are 2 golf golf courses on site and I played the Palm Course. Nice course and pretty reasonable price for the area. I was surprised on rate as nothing is cheap here. My room was a Signature view with pool view. It was a nice room. Nothing over the top, but bathroom was nice and bed was comfortable. The resort itself has a lot to offer. Like most upper end resorts everything is expensive and at times you feel you are being milked for every penny. I would stay here again even with the higher prices. I could see it being a great family vacation spot.

We stayed at the JW Marriott in Palm Desert to start off 2026 and were genuinely impressed. The customer service here is top-notch—from check-in to housekeeping to staff around the property, everyone was professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. As a small business owner who prioritizes and delivers great customer service every day, I don’t say this lightly. In an era where customer service is often an afterthought—especially with large corporations—it was refreshing to see a big brand execute it so well and so consistently. Every interaction felt intentional and respectful, not scripted or rushed. It made the stay smooth, relaxing, and memorable. Well done to the entire team. This is how hospitality should be done.

I stayed at this hotel while attending a nearby conference. I had high expectations from my previous stays at other JW Marriotts. The grounds were beautiful and the hotel lobby was nicely decorated. The hotel felt really big, and it became even more apparent when walking to my room. ||My original room was a good 10 minute walk from the main lobby. It was eerie how far away and secluded it felt from the main part of the hotel. I quickly found a few issues with the cleanliness of the room. Customer Service was very responsive and corrected the issue with a new room, which was also a much shorter walk. ||The rooms definitely had a lot of wear and tear, with some pieces of furniture looking like it needed to be replaced. Overall, the decor was really nice and would feel more elevated if it were in better condition. The bathrooms could definitely use some updating, which the glass doors on both the shower and toilet definitely awkward if you were sharing a room with other people. ||I didn’t get a chance to explore the grounds too much but loved what I did see - especially the Flamingos! ||I like the bones of the hotel a lot - this would be an amazing option with some updates to the rooms.

The bad: Rooms a bit outdated/not bright and luxurious enough, absolutely AWFUL restaurant food (at all in-hotel restaurants we tried), lack of walking paths at hotel entrance and towards main road (DANGEROUS for pedestrians). Also weird to not have spa access or tennis clinic access without additional payments when paying $600+ a night. The good: AMAZING tennis facility and instructors. This was by far the highlight of our stay. Nice in-hotel market store, beautiful lobby, great Starbucks, really nice pools, nice mini golf, beautiful hotel grounds, very clean, super friendly restaurant and hotel staff.

Overall Experience: 5/5 I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel, and I must say, everything was absolutely fantastic. From the stunning property to the impeccable service, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the hotel facilities were top-notch. I genuinely have no complaints when it comes to the hotel itself, everything was just perfect. One Small Annoyance: The only issue I had during my stay wasn’t directly related to the hotel’s quality or staff, but more about the situation we found ourselves in. While we were there, a children’s baseball tournament was taking place, which meant the resort was full of young kids. As a parent of two young boys myself, I completely understand and accept that children will be running around and having fun. However, what I found a bit challenging was the lack of supervision. The kids were running up and down the hallways, yelling and screaming, and jumping into the hot tub without any apparent rules or guidance from their parents. It wasn't that the kids were being disruptive on purpose, they were just being kids, but I did feel like some boundaries or guidelines from the hotel could have helped, especially since the parents were often no where to be found. For instance, some gentle reminders about noise levels in the hallways and not cannonballing into the hot tubs, could have gone a long way in ensuring that all guests were able to enjoy the resort peacefully. Again, this isn’t really the hotel’s fault, but it definitely did impact the experience, especially given the cost for staying here. Final Thoughts: Despite this, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The beauty and quality of the property, combined with the excellent service, more than made up for this minor situation. I would just suggest that if you’re visiting during an event like a children’s tournament, be prepared for a lot of added noise and activity. Otherwise, everything else was perfect.

Not a fan of this big resort. We had zero hot water first day. Shower was brutal. We complained and it got us lukewarm water. We reserved a king room. Got a 2 queen room. Had to ask for a change and they weren’t too pleased. Avocado toast is $18. Came to play tennis for 4 days and they only were able to find enough to do 2 mornings. Not enough players to even get a pick up match. I thought this was like a number 20 ranked tennis resort? Went to the spa. Paid twice for my normal great massage at home. The technician just wasn’t that good frankly for a spa of this supposed caliber. The facial was nice. The spa in general ok, but bistro girl was haughty. The fitness center was packed and we just left. No sign of cleaning products anywhere. Didn’t feel like using unclean yoga mats. Self parking $28 a day. $45 a day resort fee. The endless halls are super narrow so you’re constantly touching people passing you or holding yourself against the wall to get around a maid cart. Geese are squawking at 7 am. They poop all over sidewalks. In general the public areas are grimy and not clean. Everything seems dated and tired. The floor in shower is polished marble slabs. Talk about a hazard! Add water and soap and seems like a huge safety issue. My step counter counted 1200 steps from room to spa. This is not a good handicap friendly hotel. Stairs everywhere and everything spread out. The only ‘fast’ food on site is Starbucks and their ’made 3 weeks ago’ muffins. On a good note the support cleaning staff are friendly and helpful.

This property is truly amazing. I will be back. Everything in one place, great dining, beautiful spa, game room and activities for adults and kids. Even got a private boat ride for regular fee (cause no one else signed up). The property is very large and you don't feel like you have enjoyed your whole weekend at one resort. The staff provided top service, was kind and friendly, and very grateful for tips.

Dani at the pool was amazing. Their work ethic was immediately notable. They addressed us within less than 5 minutes of us seating, asking if they could grab us anything. They were spending any time that they weren’t with customers tending to the chairs and umbrellas making sure they were neat and tidy. We witnessed them bring waters to customers without them having to ask. They consistently checked in and were overall pleasant to interact with. While other servers provided a great level of service, Dani really exceeded expectations. Thanks, Dani!
