We have been loyal guests at JW Marriott Surfers Paradise for over a decade, always staying a full week or more, celebrating our honeymoon, family visits from overseas, Christmas and New Year holidays — even supporting the resort during its COVID refurbishments. This property was once a shining example of five-star luxury. Sadly, it is now a shadow of what it used to be.||||During our current stay (7–14 September 2025), we were not offered any welcome drink at all — despite this once being a signature touch (previously champagne, now reduced to a shot of iced tea). The in-room experience is no longer premium: no plunger coffee, no proper coffee at all, no hot chocolates for the kids — just cheap instant sachets you’d expect from a budget motel. Even the small indulgences, like the pillow menu and other thoughtful extras that once made the stay feel special, have been quietly removed.||||The resort facilities are just as disappointing. The water slide — one of the main reasons we book here — runs for only two brief hours a day, and staff confirmed there is no flexibility. The major cave spa is closed, further reducing the experience. We have been forced to leave the resort and spend additional money off-site just to entertain our children — the opposite of what a true luxury resort should offer.||||This stay has been hollow, uninspiring, and not remotely five-star. For a property that charges premium rates and trades on the JW Marriott name, this decline is unacceptable. Unless standards and services are urgently restored, we — and no doubt many other long-time guests — will sadly have no reason to return.
