"The first JW Marriott in mainland China occupies floors 41 to 59 of the 60-story multi-use Tomorrow Square development. One of the city’s most distinctive buildings, its shape is often likened to the drill bit or a fountain pen. Rooms offer a sense of openness, courtesy of the architectural mirror adjacent to the headboard, and frosted glass on the closet and interior bath doors. Walls use fiddle-back makore (the wood used to make violins) in panels and silk-textured wallpapers as embellishment. Studio Suites have elongated horizontal bay windows to take full advantage of the property’s elevated setting. By AFAR Traveler , AFAR Local Expert"

Before making the reservation, I have concern as we have two adults and two kids and I learned that the bed is 1.2m only not the queen bed or double bed. However the hotel is on the high floor and they have a world highest indoor library so the kids were interested, besides they are fans of JW brand hotel, so I made a request for a larger room to better accommodate the whole family as members. They noted my request and upgraded the room to studio with a king bed and a sofa bed. The check in lady Margarita is nice and appeared very professional to introduced the benefit and selection of welcome gift. Another front desk lady Yvonne is also very nice and has a warm smile. She saw we have two kids so she provided two little JW stuffed animals as gifts to the kids. Kids are very happy. We feel we are welcomed to this hotel.|The room service lady who set up the sofa bed is very polite and she provided additional water when she learned that my kid was sick.|We had afternoon snack and happy hour at the lounge. It’s crowded and busy.|We chose the 38th floor restaurant for the breakfast. It’s amazing that it can satisfy both my mom and kids since it has Chinese style and American style.|Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Great location. Great price for executive lounge access. Comfortable room - King Bed, Skyline View, Suite. Shower and bath very good. Two toilets in room. Child slept in sofa bed, separate from main bedroom. Very unusual was the excellent performance of the air-conditioning system. It was very responsive to our inputs - which is unusual, even in 5-star hotels.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in for a while. Exceptionally clean, good service, good amenities and great restaurants - especially the California grill, which is exceptional, I went twice. The fitness centre has treadmills, a rowing machine, and an extensive selection of weight machines and free weights. Laundry came back the same day and was cleaned to a good standard. WiFi was robust even for video calls.

My coworker and I stayed here for 13 days. ||Upon arrival, the concierge took my bags and then sent me to the 38th floor to check-in. A few minutes later, I was in my room (5603) enjoying the views of Tomorrow Square below and a peek-a-boo view of the Oriental Pearl Tower. My luggage came up a couple minutes later.||The room is spacious with a desk as well as chair and ottoman. There is also a room safe, coffee maker, and fridge (stocked with items for purchase). The closet is decent size with enough hangers for all my clothes. There were also two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers.||The bathroom had a tub with shelves as well as decent size shower with glass enclosure. There are full sized products in the shower (shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel). In addition to the shower head, there are also two jets to hit the back area.||The buffet breakfast had both Eastern and Western options. The Executive Lounge on the 59th floor had a smaller version of the buffet.||My coworker has been to this hotel a few time and I can see why she wanted to stay here again. If I were to return, I would stay here as well.

I have stayed in this hotel multiple times. The rooms are on high floors with superb view of Shanghai, especially the night views are wonderful. But the rooms are dated. The staffs are not fantastic but they do what they do best. The breakfast restaurant is small when compared with other Marriott’s hotels. The food are not excellent too with limited choices.

Location of this hotel is superb, right in the centre of everything. Very comfortable, great service with an extensive breakfast. Highly recommend for a first time visit to Shanghai. Right next door some good spas, walking distance is Nanjing Street and right across is the Shanghai History Museum which is a treat. The concierge desk is super helpful in arranging any trip or reservations you might need.

Location is more than perfect, you walk around and even reach the river to take a cruise or take a metro, everything is close. Staff are great, very friendly and assist with whatever we need. As a Gold member we got the upgrade with an excellent view, amazing at night
