My husband and I checked into the JW Marriott before attending an Astros game on Saturday. We were able to check in early and stayed in room 607. We had a great experience. No line to check in or out, Lisa at the front desk who checked us in and out was very friendly and professional. We were given access to the executive lounge which had a very nice continental breakfast for free which was a nice suprise. The room had a king size bed, big screen tv with the ability to stream netfix, hulu, and amazon prime, and a mini frig. The room, lobby, and elevators were really clean and the hallways had strong air conditioning, which I really appreciated. ||The staff were fantastic. We called down to the front desk with a plumbing problem and maintenance was in our room in 5 minutes fixing the problem and very apologetic. |My husband and I have stayed in lots of hotels and have never seen a hotel fix a maintenance problem so quickly and efficiently.|| Downtown Houston was a mess with all kinds of construction. The valet was very good with carrying our bags to the front desk and with having our car ready after we called. Valet was $60 but I think that is expected when parking downtown.||I would definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to return!

We stayed over night here on July 19-20. We stayed in room 1705. The room itself was clean and beautiful. When it came to the details we noticed small things like one small trash can in the bathroom only, there was only ones set of slippers when there should have been two. When I went online to purchase the room I asked for extra towels and pillows which they did not do and I had to ask for them again. Now on to the real problem with the room the king bed was as hard as a rock and we got a total of about 45 minutes of sleep all night because of this. Now on to the parking situation. I called and asked about the parking and was told that the only way to guarantee a space in the garage was to valet which was fine because that is what we do at most hotels. What they failed to say is that there is construction in front where they normally valet which is now temporarily closed and they have moved their valet service half a block down and across a very busy street. Sadly I will not stay at this hotel again due to the above issues.

Wednesday Morning and was about to get some coffee, planning to buy Starbucks but the host standing in the restaurant area greeted me with a smile and ask me if I want coffee, good thing she’s a Filipina! Well you can’t deny the fact that Filipino people are approachable and hardworking! I stayed in the hotel and tried to dine for a breakfast since she is so nice and very accommodating and Yamile the server took care of me. Well you can’t deny the fact that Filipino people are approachable and hardworking! Nice to meet you, Ana! You’re doing a great job! I’ll be back soon!

So I went to the spa and indulged myself in there summer special and it was well worth it. Erika was a wonderful masseuse. She really messaged and relaxed all the kinks out. While I was there I had ordered the fish tacos. They were really good and the Chipotle sauce was just the right touch. It wasn’t too spicy as I don’t like spicy food. Jennifer was able to take care of me and I appreciate the customer service and hospitality of her and her staff. I hope to return soon!

Enjoyed a few stays at this JW and the staff and service are remarkable. They make effort to make each stay, whether a special occasion or not, special. Special requests are handled timely. Room service is delicious and pretty quick. The restaurant and bar on property have good quality food and a great cocktail menu. The rooms are great quality but could use a light refresh soon, but they’re comfortable and have great amenities. Huge bonus that this JW has complimentary car service if available for a 5 mile radius! It’s wonderful.

Had the pleasure of hosting a 3-day meeting at this location. The staff throughout all stages of my stay were friendly, attentive, and genuine. The best part about my experience was the meeting support staff. They were responsive, available, and helpful. I must give a special thanks to Collen Peck (for her ability to make this streamlined - complete with a text string for prompt responses during my meeting, her associate Gerald (for being her lieutenant in her absence and posting signage for my guest to find the meet hall seamlessly, and Mr. Bill, for the personal touch with snacks and beverages. The entire team was great at making every minor detail smooth and running promptly. It's nice to finally get the level of service that matches the price tag. Thank you Houston Downtown Marriott - you exceeded expectations!

Google
I spent the weekend here. This is a nice property in a converted 1930's era office building. Everyone I encountered here was friendly, nice, and helpful. I've stayed at a number of JW's around the world, and I would say this was not as elegant as many. It's still clean and nice though. The room was spacious and quiet, but you walk into the room directly into the bathroom. It's a bit different in that regard. There's a large white soaking tub in the middle, along with a vanity. The toilet and shower are off to the side behind a barn door. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The lounge was huge and nicely furnished. Good breakfast, and was told they have an evening happy hour up there on weekdays. The only negative I had was the bar. Service was very slow, and they do not use high-quality mixers. For the price of a simple mixed drink, ($27 + tip), you would think they could provide more premium mixers. Martini and Rossi is cheap vermouth. Also note that the Main Street location is a bit of a walk from the theater district or the sports arenas.

Google
Highly recommend this location. The staff went above and beyond, the rooms are super clean and beds are comfortable, enjoyed the lounge and all it had to offer, and the food ordered by room service was outstanding. Definitely booking this hotel again next time. I need to stay in Houston. Walking distance. Lots of restaurants are available

Yelp
806 lounge was a special dinner and it was worth it. It is a 113 year building and to be dining there, right in the middle on Downtown Houston felt historically important. Not as rich in cultural history as the rest of the world, this is definitely one of the things America can boast of. Earlier it was called the Carter building, named after Samual Carter who owned the then tallest skyscraper in Texas in 1910! Infact, it was so tall and so new to the city that people doubted if it would survive, ....well....it has, and we have plenty more taller ones all around the city now- if only Samual were alive , he'd say, "I told u so !" The building was renovated and converted to a hotel by JW Marriot in 2014, and there is a Main Kitchen and the 806 Bar & Lounge at street level. My imagination runs wild for a second while I am waiting to be escorted to my table, dreaming about all those richly dressed shining ladies and smart stern gentlemen who might have glided down the Italian and Norwegian marble floors many years ago. History fascinates me no doubt.(Now its all wood flooring). It is not the1900's, and it's a weekday night in Downtown, you don't really expect it to be swarming with people, so we got the table really quick. Interior is simple, tasteful and ofcourse clean. The ceiling is pretty high and if you are used to the modern loft style then this will capture your attention. Coming to the food, we got ourselves a butternut squash soup, soo tasty, I could have eaten just that as dinner. Then we got the red salad, which was roasted peppers, beats, pomogranate, and honey. Very refreshing, again very tasty. For the entree we got the custom made veg pasta in pesto sauce. The quantities were not really Texan and that was perfect to keep my food inspiration going in the right direction. One disappointment, the pasta did Not come with bread, we requested and got some but that took forever. To end with, we got the Bourbon Bread Pudding, am not a fan of bourbon(Uh true!), so my partner got to enjoy it all by himself ! Well, happy for him! The restaurant does have vegan options, but with not a huge crowd around, vegetarian vegan dishes take slightly more time than the others to come out of the kitchen. It was a lovely dinner overall. Eda was super sweet and did many trips to accommodate our dietary restrictions, so

Yelp
Fantastic hotel. A special call out to Megan, who checked us in. She is the manager and has been there for 6 months. After hearing that we came from a funeral, she upgraded us to the VP suite, which gave us access to the concierge floor. She also called to see how things were going and offered to assist in any way possible. The suite was unbelievable. It had a dining room, full kitchen with Miele appliances, living room, sitting room, king bed, hall bath and main bathroom with shower and separate bath tub. The fridge was filled with water. Ice was stored in prefilled bags in the hallway. The room was very nicely decorated. The breakfast in the lounge was great. Included smoked salmon, eggs, bacon, fresh juices, fresh fruit, oatmeal, bagels, and pastries. Alcoholic drinks are available at night during the week. We had access to soft drinks and coffee/tea at night. Best hotel gym that I have ever seen for Nautilus equipment. Also had plenty of cardio equipment and any accessory you could ask for. Restaurant offered a complete breakfast menu. We ate there for lunch. Valet is 50 dollars with in/out privileges. You can get to underground tunnels from the lobby. We were unable to go there since it was closed on Sunday. Overall the service was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and eager to help in anyway possible. This included the valets, front desk, and concierge room employees.

Yelp
I have a couple experiences here. I have stayed here before for events that I have went to downtown and the rooms are nice and clean, room service and staff were great but the spa is heavily overpriced. Would not recommend going to the spa. They don't offer anything a normal spa wouldn't offer. JW also supports animals which give them extra points in my book. They put on this puppy yoga with houston pets alive and it was sooooo cute and fun. They had a bunch of adoptable puppy's, food, raffles and snacks along with merch to buy. It was such a cute event. I hope they do it again soon cause i will be back if so!!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown for my birthday and it was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by exceptional valet service that set the tone for my entire stay. The hotel's elegant atmosphere and attention to detail were truly impressive. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The comfort of the bed and the quality of amenities exceeded my expectations. The city views from my room were a delightful bonus. What truly stood out, though, was the impeccable service provided by valet. They were not only courteous but went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Whether it was recommendations for local dining or accommodating special requests, their professionalism and friendliness were exceptional. It was a bit costly but worth it for downtown parking. The location of the JW Marriott Houston Downtown is also worth noting, as it allowed for easy access to many attractions and dining options in the area. Overall, my experience at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown was nothing short of outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Houston. I can't wait to return and experience their hospitality again."

Yelp
Rooms are misrepresented on the Marriott app and other hotel booking websites -- beware before booking. I booked a King room (what they call Poet room) for a stay and got assigned to a room with a window that's blocked off as the room faces the HVAC and other mechanical units. No light came through -- it feels like you are in the basement without a window. When I asked for a room change as it wasn't what's advertised on the website, I was told that there is nothing they can do and they are expecting other guests to other rooms. I checked their app to book a room for that night and there were five types of rooms being advertised (one of them being the room type I booked!). Pictures from the actual experience vs. what's advertised on the website. I had friends being turned down and sent to other hotels on other days as they overbooked the rooms. The only positive part of the experience was - I was able to get late check-out at 1.15pm.

Yelp
Wonderful experience for an overnight stay in the city!! Front desk staff and helpful and friendly and it really was a group effort to help each guest feel comfortable!! Super accessible to all things DTHTX and Uber was super easy to catch right out front ... Valet was easy too!! Room was smaller but all we really needed for an overnight and above all; it was clean and comfy!! The in house dining was really good too with great bartenders and a good wine selection!! Will definitely stay here again and recommend to others!!

Yelp
This JW property looks great when you approach it from the outside. Once you step inside, it's just as great. The lobby is attractive and feels luxurious. The unique interior design flows through each floor and even into your own room. The elevators feel like they are old and need some work. I also didn't like how there isn't even a small shop here. I had to go across the street to the AC hotel to buy from their snack shop. Upon arrival after only seeing the lobby, I was sure that this JW would be nicer than the Le Meridien... especially since it cost me more. But after staying here, I think the two properties are closer in quality than I originally thought.

Yelp
Review only for event spaces and catering, not overnight stay. We've held our company holiday parties at the JW a couple of times. Valet wasn't long to get to the car once you got around the corner but it's stressful when the train is coming and blowing you out the way. Jesus! We get a discounted rate since it's event but daily is like $50. That's really enough for me to not stay there lol This year, 2022...omg food was good! Never been a huge fan of hotel event catering but a couple of dishes exceeded my expectations. Only issue is they seemed unable to keep the food hot. I can't recall if they used those little burners or not but they should do something. Standout dishes were roasted cauliflower with garlic oil (if I remember correctly). It made me want to pull a seat to the buffet line and go to town. I love cauliflower period but that flavor profile they had set it slap off! They also had this vegetable lasagna that was knock ya socks off good. The salmon deserves mention because I could see the middle of a lot of pieces while choosing one and clearly many were undercooked in the middle. I eat raw sushi grade salmon but if it's a grilled/baked filet, ima need all of it to be fully cooked, thank you! Catering service has been helpful both events!

Yelp
Overall a great visit here. Service is great and room service was super fast. Portions were good and taste was above average. Wish the avocado toast had more flavor. Our room was better than average, a little dated/staid, but I feel like this hotel caters to business types. The important thing was bed was comfy, linens were cool and silky and it was relatively quiet for being downtown and close to MM Park. We were on the 7th floor and I heard regular noisy car sounds and the occasional tooting from the rail system. Earplugs easily masked any noises. The tub was nice; I need a tub! However it was difficult to relax in as it is quite large and deep and I keep floating and popping up. Made it hard to lean back with wine and scroll my phone while soaking. The toiletries were nice, neutral smell and did well for my aging, graying, thin hair. They said "Aromatherapy of London" made in China by Gilcrest and Soames. Overall decent efficacy and fresh smelling. Room was very clean, housekeeping did great. Would stay again. No pool but connected to underground tunnel system which was great when I was trying to get some steps while avoiding the heat. Executive lounge has minimal snacks during the day, mostly sweets, but we did not attend the breakfast or happy hours which were more substantial.
google avatar

Greg O.

Yelp
Had an excellent stay. We paid extra for concierge level which gave access to the lounge which was very nice with a variety of seating including chairs and couches. It also included breakfast in the morning which was great. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and professional. The bartender recommended a very good bottle of wine that we took to our room. Room was spacious and had a mini fridge and large tv. Bathroom had a soaking tub in addition to walk in shower. When we checked out we were able to have the front desk hold our luggage and they allowed us to book the car service for later that day to take us to Amtrak.

Yelp
I had a friend who worked at the JW Marriott as an African-American Line Cook. He was doing his work and the Executive Chef and the Sous Chef did not like him because he would discuss how horrible and unfair he was treated he was being pulled into the office and called the N-word, I would not want any employee to be treated in this manner by any managing staff, however, he was a human resource in the department that aided the Executive Chef and the Sous Chef as the culprits in this racist act. The general manager of this should reprimanded by the corporate board for treating African-American employees
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
This was a great hotel, but the service is what sets it apart from other Marriotts. Everyone we interacted with was above and beyond courteous! We stayed in a concierge level room with a king size bed. Room was clean, modern, and spacious. The concierge level got us access to breakfast which was fantastic, as well as complimentary non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day and snacks in the evening. The seating in the lounge is comfortable and the city views are great. There's a spa and a fitness room as well. We didn't use either but both looked nice and the fitness room had a good variety of machines and weights. Transportation: The hotel offers complimentary car service within a 5 mile radius, and you can reserve a time in advance. We used it to go to dinner at Prost and again to go to the Amtrak station. It's also a block away from a red line station, and near several bus stations. Can't beat $3 for a day pass. Lastly, there's a covered spot outside and area for cars to pull up. Overall, this is a great place to stay while visiting Houston!
google avatar

Yelp
Best all-around hotel! The hotel staff are super nice and helpful. Every staff member we've talked to was welcoming and gave many recommendations for places to eat/things to do. Your hotel stay comes with complimentary shuttle service that will drive you anywhere within a 5 mile radius from the hotel. I used it a couple times to get around downtown. You can even schedule for them to pick you up! The lounge (if you have access) was the nicest lounge I've ever been to. Great to get some work done if you're on a business trip. They also have snacks and breakfast and my favorite... the coffee machine!! We got chocolates delivered to our hotel every night. Location is great. It's in the middle of everything! Overall, I would definitely come back to this hotel if I'm in Houston in the future. 5/5 stars!!

Yelp
Nice rooms. Easy walking distance to most things downtown. Friendly staff. Nice bar, if a little slow bringing your drinks. Very soft down pillows- with no other options. Modern glass, granite and chrome fixtures.
google avatar

Yelp
Great stay again! This is our third time for a quick weekend stay while attending events at Toyota center. It was hubby's birthday and the staff went the extra mile. They provided us with a great suite (fully equipped w fridge and microwave) and a beautiful large bathroom which I truly wish we had more time to enjoy bc the tub looked so inviting. Everything was clean and there was even a little birthday surprise waiting for us. We enjoyed our late night drinking cocktails at the bar (Karen was great). The valet to the front desk is always so pleasant and quick. Def our go to hotel for our downtown staycations.
google avatar

Lorri L.

Yelp
Stayed here for business and was not disappointed. They have a car available to drive you within a certain distance of the hotel. This came in handy for the event I was there to work AND weekend brunch. There is a restaurant downstairs that is pretty good. My room was great and had a soaking tub. The spa and executive lounge were my faves. The lounge has free snacks 24 hours. Awesome amenities with a central location in downtown.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Let me tell you, this place was classy from start to finish. I did not get a drink at the bar but I wish I had. This place is located in the heart of downtown so you must valet. It only took about ten minutes for them to bring the car around, which was very fair. Check-in was fast. When I arrived to my room, it was better than expected. Very roomy. Big tub in the center. Very nice shower. And I love the JW Marriott toiletries. They had a frig for leftovers too. The table/desk was great for working and eating breakfast. The closet was very roomy too. I'm always pleased with the bedding, pillows and mattress. I was sad to check out but I will return!
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
This is for the restaurant downstairs only; We swung by for breakfast looking for something better quality than what's in the tunnels. They have a full restaurant downstairs and their breakfast menu is akin to something like a Dish Society. Looks decently cooked and tasted average to above average for downtown. Pricing definitely is overpriced compared to locations inside the loop but it is the downtown premium that is added. If you're stuck downtown, it's not a bad option if you want a more upscale spot than your food halls/ tunnel options. Ambiance 4/5 Food 3.5/5 Service 3.5/5

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to stay in Houston. Their bedding is almost decadent and I love the bathtubs!!! Even if you don't stay there, the bar and restaurant are worth the drive downtown.
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
The bathtub was the best part of the stay. Incredible views. Pleasant staff & fast checkin. DoorDash friendly for food deliveries. Smart TV w/apps. Good mattress & quality bedding.
google avatar

Raquel T.

Yelp
In my five years of being a Marriott member I can't recall a single occasion where I've stayed at a Marriott property and been completely blown away by the service. Katie and her team are simply amazing! It's so refreshing to go to an establishment that provides consistent courtesy and professionalism among all departments. This was definitely such a memorable stay for my husband and I. If service and cleanliness matter to you then definitely consider this location.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Excellent property with excellent staff. Room service was great I ordered steak and fries from the in room iPad. Was quick only took about 30 minutes. Although it was insanely humid outside, the air conditioning kept everything cool and dry, just the way I like it. I loved the room I was in, it was on the back side of the building. The view wasn't good, but it was extremely quiet which is what I needed after a long trip in. Props to the front desk agent working for suggesting the room location. Great location of the hotel.
google avatar

Delilah F.

Yelp
This hotel was by far the best one I have ever stayed in. I absolutely loved the views and the double room or suite they upgraded us to for no extra cost since we are gold status. I must admit, I did not want to leave and enjoyed my stay at the JW Marriott in Downtown Houston. I will return to Houston, and when I do, it will only be at this hotel.

Yelp
When we arrived we were warmly welcomed. It was as if we were family coming home. The valet & front desk were so friendly & welcoming. Jose immediately learned my name & greeted me each time he saw me. Our room was spotless with an amazing view!! The lounge provided such a relaxing environment. The breakfast buffet was amazing!! The food was hot & fresh. I can't possibly say enough about the bar staff. Nada & her coworker were the bomb.com!! Their service was prompt & always with a smile. They created this coconut margarita for me. Omg it was delicious!! I highly suggest you try it when you visit. It's not on the menu but it definitely needs to be. The spa has this lovely area where you can create your own bath salts or bubble bath. We had so much fun coming up with different scents. Lastly one must not forget Logan and shadow. Logan shuttled us around in shadow on several different occasions. His service was always prompt & professional. It was so nice to have the shuttle service as an available option. It was truly a perfect weekend & we will most definitely be back.

Yelp
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! LOVE THIS HOTEL! Our first time at the downtown JW, we had an excellent experience starting from the check in process all the way to our late check out. Staff were incredibly attentive and the service was phenomenal! Our room was beautiful and you could tell a lot of attention and care had been taken to ensure the room was clean and sanitized. The bathroom soaking tub was a huge highlight for us (complimentary lavender bath salts were provided). We loved the bed it was heavenly and we slept like babies. Things were a little different due to COVID but we appreciated everything that was offered via QR codes and the marriott app. This hotel had the most prompt and responsive staff I've ever encountered at any marriott thus far. Thank you, JW Marriott Houston downtown, for making our stay the most comfortable and safe vacation experience (especially in these difficult pandemic times). Too notch quality rooms and service. We can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Deric L.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the JW downtown. Check in went quickly and smoothly. The lobby was well appointed, clean, and smelled rich! So were the rooms. I know they have different options, but my room was awesome...particularly the bathroom. (See pics). Valet was a plus in downtown although it did get pretty backed up during a rainy Saturday. I'm taking away half a star bc there's no late night options for food or drinks even on the weekends. I believe the bar closed at 11. There's certainly lots of other options outside of the hotel though. I'm taking another half star away due to the view. It's dangerous! You can literally see into other rooms and they can see you.

Alaine G.

Yelp
We have stay at the JW Marriott in Houston many times. Great location and nice rooms. Saray has been awesome with checkin and any help that we have needed. She continues to make our stay wonderful. This employee should be a GM at a Marriott! The entire front desk is very attentive. Our only disappointment is the Concierge lounge choices are the same everyday! When we return to Houston we only stay at this property!

Yelp
This review is for the service in the bar. We flew in for Final Four weekend and this hotel was the place where the SDSU basketball team stayed, as well as all their family, friends, and fans. Needless to say the place was a zoo! I think the overall hotel did a good job of handling the crowds, but I think where they shined was in the bar area. All of the servers were great. They sure had to hustle, as sometimes the rows of customers were 4 deep across the bar! We dealt with bartender, Michael, on numerous occasions and he never disappointed. He swiftly helped everyone and still gave the attention needed to not feel rushed. There was always some friendly chat as well, as much as could be allowed under the circumstances. We also visited the bar when it was a bit slower and Michael was again a pleasure! It was extra refreshing to see that his good service doesn't diminish when it gets super busy. If you are at the JW downtown, and pop into the bar for some food or drink, I hope you have the privilege of being served by Michael, because I know you will enjoy yourself!

Yelp
Located at the corner of Rusk St and Main St you may find yourself instantly in line of cars for the valet parking on this single lane street. A light rail system operates in the middle of the street. But the parking assistants are up to the task where I did not wait long they help empty our vehicle. The lobby was extremely elegant and had that luxurious feel. This building is over 100 years old and had great character appeal. The check in staff treated us graciously and quickly set us up with a nice room. The lobby had the Main Kitchen restaurant and 806 Lounge, access to conference rooms named after famous artists, and underground walkway. There quite a bit of art all over this hotel making feel like an art gallery. If need to get around the JW will take you nearby locations in a Tesla. Our room was modern and different concept where you walk through the bathroom area with sink and mirrors on one side and shower and toilet on the other. It made the whole space feel larger. The king bed was very comfortable and slept well on it. Our window view was nice and buildings and street below. We even ad a room iPad displaying a clock and see all of our room and hotel amenities. The only mishap was the fire alarm going off early in the morning due to a hotel guest. It was resolved by the hotel manager providing us with access to the concierge lounge, but glad the alarms were fully operational. The lounge was very large with different seating areas, conference room, drinks and food options. The best part is this not a huge 1000 room hotel and feel like the staff provided personalized attention but still close to downtown Houston attractions and places of business. And being a JW brand gave us a sense of security and confidence of making our stay very enjoyable. I even got a special treat since it was my birthday.

Yelp
Four words: #1 Vendor for our wedding!!! The entire team was professional, respected our time, busy schedules and feedback. Samantha D. and Ivory T. were superstars! The chefs and banquet team were also outstanding! Ivory and Daffney were fabulous with our hotel block. Samantha especially was incredibly helpful and patient even in the last moments of wedding week when we were struggling with late vendors and logistics. She maintained the highest level of professionslism at all times. The reception in Picasso was beautiful, food and cakes phenomenal and service impeccable. They even facilitated our entrance from a horse-drawn carriage as well as our grand exit in busy downtown Houston. Amazing! We cannot appreciate enough the perfect combination of professionalism, friendliness and serious efficiency of the whole team. Bravo to all! We will return!

Yelp
I expected a certain degree of service for the price paid for this hotel. I did not have my phone with me and asked the front desk if they could call me a taxi. I was told by a very terse woman that taxis were unavailable and not offered and most customers just use their phone to call Uber or Lyft. I explained that I did not have my phone with me, unfortunately, which is why I had not already done that and I was told "too bad". I went around the corner to a lower priced Marriott property who could not have been nicer, and they called me a a taxi, graciously, as one would expect.

Yelp
LOVED!! LOVED!! LOVED!! This place is FABULOUS!! I felt like a queen the entire time here. It's smack dab in the middle of downtown and honestly most places are walkable from here. I walked to the convention center several times during the conference. HOWEVER, if you can, get you a ride in that shuttle (a matte black Tesla) that takes you anywhere within 5 miles. I loved how housekeeping kept my room spotless and left me little treats every evening. The bed was amazingly soft, I connected my Hulu to the tv using their chromecast, and I enjoyed the espresso machine in the room. I didn't really enjoy the restaurant downstairs, $25 for breakfast and $15 for a jack and coke just seem silly when there are other great places nearby for much more reasonable prices. But it's a hotel, what do you expect? All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful though. I truly appreciated their hospitality. I would come here again and again. Book now!

Yelp
Why! Why! Why! Every time there's an issue that dents the stay. This was supposed to be a lazy weekend with the kids. And what do we know! Two huge TVs in the suite and neither works. No Netflix, No YouTube, not even live TV. At the very least, they could have informed us about this at check in.

Yelp
Like any JW Marriott, the hotel is classy! The interior has a modern but also industrial (black beams in the halls) and minimal vibe. Lobby area décor is artsy, it has a consolation on the main wall near the couches. This hotel is in the heart of downtown, walking distance to a lot of food spots (casual and fine dining), night life, Metro, and others. Take note, there are a lot of homeless still walking around the hotel area. My stay here was in an Executive Suite, and I was well pleased. Spacious living area with a long couch, dining table with outlets, sink, fridge, and a TV. Sliding door dividing the bedroom. Comfy king-sized bed with another flat screen in the room. The open bathroom concept was okay, I'd really prefer the toilet not facing the glassed shower area, HAH! This bathroom included a tub and as well another vanity make-up area. The lounge is accessible to Platinum and Ambassador members only. It is accessible 24 hours for snacks and drinks. Breakfast here is served daily, but hors d'oeuvres are only available Mon-Thurs. There's also a board room located in the lounge. No pool here, but the hotel gym is one of the nicest I've been to. It's not a large space, but between the machines, free weight sections, there's a lot of space to move around and there's also a separate room to do your own yoga sesh. Everything is kept up well, and machines are in great condition. I loved ending my workout with one of those cold towels with a eucalyptus scent, def refreshing. Like any downtown, parking is tough, so if you bring a car while staying at this hotel, you have two options. One, self-parking in a nearby parking garage, that is not through the hotel. Two, valet for $42/day. Because the hotel is on busy Main Street, next to the Metro (downtown rail), there's a sliver of a pavement where you can pull up to check-in, valet, or have Uber/Lyft for pick-up/drop-off. When it gets busy, valet can be slow even if you call ahead. I think this can be improved on. Other notables at this hotel: -Art gallery (check for hours) -JW Spa -Complimentary shuttle within 1 mile of the hotel (drop-off/pick-up) The staff here are very welcoming in the lobby. Even walking through the halls, all the employees went out of their way to say hello or if they can help with anything, I felt like I was an honored guest.

Yelp
Stayed here for work. Great location with easily accessible restaurants across the street. Overall nice and quiet rooms. The lobby is super nice! The only reason this was not 5 stars was the dripping from the bath tub. Had to put a towel to stop the annoying noise.

Yelp
Just wanted a nice weekend to relax away from Home. No internet which meant streaming. Called the front desk they said it was an external issue and didn't know when it would be fixed. That would have been nice to know up front before check in. Called for valet on Saturday morning took 20 mins to get our car after we got down there. Only one valet person for $48/night. Really? A large hotel and one valet. You would just expect more from a Marriott. I'd recommend looking elsewhere before staying here.

Yelp
Stayed here Wednesday night and the room was GORGEOUS! I started the evening at the bar and Max made some delicious cocktails! He was personable and knowledgeable at his mixology. Breakfast bar in the morning was delicious and high quality. It was a great staycation.

Yelp
This property is very welcoming with water and or champagne upon check in. Very warming ensuring you're taken care of. I have been to numerous Marriott let alone JW properties around the world, and this property has by far the best and friendliest service and staff I've ever experienced. Other properties should seriously shadow the staff of this property and take notes. Other properties I have been to have staff that appears to care for nothing more than when there shift is over. When this go above and beyond. This property has the Picasso and Monet galleries featuring art work from local artists. There is a bar 806 Lounge and restaurant Main Kitchen on site both of which are good. From the 806 Lounge I've had the A Berry Pisco $14. That drink has Pisco Porto Special, Lime Juice, Simple, Strawberries , Egg Whites and Mint. From the Main Kitchen I've had the Guajillo Braised Shortrib $35 with Goat Cheese Risotto. It was great. Although, they did have conflicting menus. One of the main reasons why I wanted to dine here was the online menu on their website of the Guajillo Braised Shortrib. The restaurant itself serves a completely different version. They did meet me half way with the Risotto at least. And it was still great. I finished off with one of their desserts Chocolate Pave, Whipped Ganache, Browned Butter Puffed Rice and Raspberry Coulis $10 was good as well. A good finish for the evening. I stayed at a King Corner Suite which was a lovely room on a high floor. The living room is nice as is the King bed comfortable. There is an easy to use iPad that you can use to request any services, weather, guides, etc. The bathroom is lovely with a large bathtub definitely large enough for company and a separate large shower. There is a nice view from the bathroom as well. The room has a mini fridge, coffee machine, a safe and two robes. There are also two televisions, not that you need one, but good to have options. There is also a turndown service that features some types of pastries, which I can never turn down, no pun intended . On the 11th level there is also the fitness center, Spa and Griffen Executive Lounge. The lounge is always open however only really serves hors d'oeuvres Sunday evening through Thursday evening. Although breakfast is daily. In the evenings there are snacks left over night such as M&Ms, dried banana chips, chocolate malt balls, chocolate covered raisins, jelly beans and sometimes chocolate chip cookies . Plus the normal beverages to include coffee. This property is a valet only property. Although they do offer a shuttle service within reasonable proximity in either a Porsche SUV or a Tesla Model X. It is a very great service indeed, especially that of the Tesla. Overall the property grounds are well kept, the rooms are great as is the service and staff overall. I highly recommend a stay at this property.

Yelp
Had a great mini staycation in the midst of a pandemic! Just needed a night out of the apartment so stopped downtown and stayed at the JW. I think they just recently reopened after being closed for several weeks. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable. A few changes to everything overall like room service comes in to go containers (no plates or cutlery) and the bar serves everything in plastic and paper plates, all with a limited menu - but couldn't complain. You could tell the staff was happy to be back to work; and I was happy to support them!

Yelp
When you host parties such as the New Years Eve Mascarade Ball it is reflective of your brand. We paid almost $500 for two people for the NYE party that myviplifestyle promoted. It was awful. Not as advertised. No seating, not premium liquor, the early VIP entrance was nothing different than the later entrance time that was way cheaper. Basically there was 2 djs in two rooms. The bartenders did not even know what mixed drinks you ask for such as a screwdriver.... It's funny that myviplifestyle has deactivated their Instagram page. What scam.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay here. Great location with the trolley, bars, and restaurants on the same street. Nice bar and restaurant downstairs. Super friendly employees. Clean rooms. Excellent gym. Lots of free water bottles. You order room service on an iPad. Also, they leave a sweet dessert in your room every day with room service. Love it.

Yelp
We stayed here early Jan 2020 for two nights and had an amazing experience. The front desk associates were really nice and welcoming. They would say hi to us whenever we came back to the hotel throughout our stay. I have ambassador elite status and upon check in, was told we were upgraded to an executive suite. The suite was nicely appointed. It had a dining room table and couch in the living area. The bathroom had a huge tub to soak in, two sinks and a separate sectioned off toilet for added privacy :). We found the room to be very clean and well maintained. Turn down service was nice, house keeping laid out little treats by our bed each night. Concierge lounge on one of the highers floors was really large and nicely furnished. While it's open 24/7 for beverages and snacks (cookies, fruit), they only have breakfast service on the weekends which is when we stayed. Breakfast was standard Marriott exec lounge fair (eggs, bacon, sausage, baked goods). We ended up finding breakfast on our own in Houston but came back to the lounge a lot for the beverages and tea/coffee. We had a rental car with us and choose to not park with the hotel. The hotel does valet only for around $45 a night with in and out priveldges. We opted to go cheaper and parked in a garage behind the Marriott for $25/night the first night and then parked in the street the second night for free (just read the street parking signs and rules carefully and you'll be good). Definitely one of the better Marriott / Bonvoy properties I've stayed at and experienced in the US!

Yelp
I am a frequent stare at Marriott hotels do the business and ended up getting this place with my points. When I pulled up I was mad by the valet who promptly took my vehicle. Very friendly folks down there. Check-in was a breeze and I was upgraded due to my status with Marriott. Yay! I got into the room and it was beautiful. Orange tub in the center, nice bed and a view of nothing. The room was very comfortable and the television had all the amenities I would like including Internet TV so I was able to binge Netflix when I wanted to. Everything was great until 4:30 AM The first morning I was here when the fire alarm went off. He told us to go to the stairwell and await instructions. Myself and some other gas up here on the 14th floor waited but we're never instructed to do anything so we made the trip down the stairs. Having bad knees this was a brutal exclamation we got down and found that we were among maybe 20 guests who actually listened and went down. When we went to the front desk we were told that someone was smoking in the stairwell on that set off the alarm. They apologized and offer some reparations. I went back up to my room about 5 AM and the alarm code continued to sound open till 730. I called the front desk about 7 AM and they told me it had been reset but obviously it hadn't. One cool thing that the hotel offers is a Tesla shuttle anywhere within a 5 mile radius. I was very excited to use this. I was told to just call down the front desk and arrange a time. I did that on Saturday around 2 PM and was told it was booked for the entire day but maybe the other one had availability, oh wait no it doesn't either. What a disappointment. I also had breakfast in the executive lounge both days due to my upgraded room. This was also a disappointment. The first day they gave out a lot of free breakfast due to the fire alarm and by the time I got there at 9 o'clock pickings were a few. Sunday morning I got up there at 7:30 AM and while there was more available the eggs were runny and cold. I ended up going down the street to a coffee shop for breakfast. Beautiful hotel, but they have some issues they need to work through.

Yelp
Perfect place to stay if you are staying Downtown Houston. Everything was in walking distance which will save you tons of money. The art work is beautiful. The hotel was very clean and everyone was friendly. The room comes equipped with everything you need for a nice comfortable stay. There's even a comfortable pair of slippers for your enjoyment and they are the best. While there I visited the spa (magnificent) and worked out in their gym (very spacious). The restaurant downstairs was very pricey. The cheesecake was good, but wasn't worth the price. Overall it was a great stay until we were about to leave and checked our account only to realize we were charged twice the price. It was a doozey trying to get refunded. Anywho....just make sure you keep track of how much they are charging you.

Yelp
Bad service.. Called jw here instead of downtown for room service. Nobody helped me!! Passing the buck. Paid for something I never received and nobody cared. SMH... what's the point of titanium elite!?!

Yelp
We requested a room with two beds because it was me my wife and my two boys they gave us one room with one bed another complaint it took literally 20 minutes for us to get hot water in the bathtub or the shower. Said there was nothing around open for food had to order from their menu which was way overpriced come to find out doing our own investigating there was a lot of things that were open. They have their own parking garage which is only valet no parking garages in the area so we had to go with them and they charge me $48 overnight and then they want me to give a tip on top of that. Will not be staying here again.
