Yelp
K Banchan Kitchen opened where a taqueria once was. a couple of tables available for inside dining, 2 tables outside. small parking lot in front. plenty of plants around. display or for sale?....wasn't planning to eat in, wasn't in the mood, decided to grab a few entrees to go.
Offerings: grab & go banchan/entrees. lunch boxes (K-sandwiches, rice bowls, rice cakes) eat-in or take out, pastries, drinks...
couple of refrigerators had banchan/entrees. no signage as to types. the kimchi dishes were obvious, the others less so. only pricing shown, no weights. just a basic name listed. .
eats: fishcake (4) ingredient: "soy sauce, grain syrup, garlic, oil"
-obviously had fish within, not listed.
-tastes similar to what's given in Korean eateries.
-has consistency of dried tofu with a fish-like taste.
seafood meat pancake (7)
-mislabeled package. it's a mix of egg battered zucchini slices and seafood pancake slices, not just seafood meat variety. was either a packing error or customer preference for variety...
-both renditions tasted fresh, prefer the seafood only version.
soybean paste stew (crab, 7)
-thought it was a variety of soon tofu soup
it's actually a "stew" of soybean paste, small blue? crabs, tofu in broth.
-crab meat is basically bland, all flavor went into the broth which was rich.
-very tradition Korean dish. didn't expect this. yummy broth.
steamed beef ribs (12)
-5ish rib bones with detached tender rib meat, stewed carrots, radish pieces.
-lots of flavor in the juices on the bottom.
4.5 stars. über tasting food, good value. labeling may be off in English. labeling probably accurate in Korean. (hearsay it's easy to learn)..
take outs:
-May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
-the banchan and entrees are a mix of traditional Korean and home style Korean dishes. cashier and staff will be happy to answer any questions...
