So helpful and kind. On both of my visits, owner was incredibly helpful in finding exactly what I needed. The store is tight, so don’t be afraid to ask for help if you can’t find something! Even when they didn’t have what I needed, they pointed me to multiple stores nearby that did stock it, and warned me on how to get the better price.

Had a wonderful experience here and found everything I needed. They have beautiful ceramic dish ware at a very reasonable price, and I also got a lovely tea tray. The owners are so knowledgeable about their products and were kind and attentive. These days, when everything seems to be online, a good IRL shopping experience can do wonders for the soul. I recommend!!!!

It’s a family owned store and they are super helpful. Went in to buy a wok and the owner explained all the different kinds of wok and materials they had and what they were for. Ended up getting extra stuff because they have a nice variety of products.

The owner gave me an in depth explanation of the different kind of woks and what equipment I’d need. They were very kind and appreciated that we were supporting a small business. The prices were also very reasonable!! I will be coming back if I need anything else.

I've been shopping here for 20 years. I saw other reviewers say that the owners are rude, but they're just reserved and elderly. They can come off as abrupt and frosty at first, but once you start speaking to them, they warm up and become helpful and friendly. And I'd like I add that I cannot be mistaken for anything but East/SE Asian, so they are not selectively nicer to non-Asians like other reviewers insinuated. Their prices are low to competitive for economy to mid-range bathroom and kitchen wares despite being located in Downtown Manhattan. Most of their merchandise is Asian, but you will certainly find some North American and European products like Melitta pour-over coffee filters and Ball mason jars nestled between the matcha whisks, Kiwi knives, and Vietnamese phín coffee filters. They also have an online store with very charming translated flavor text.

We heard this was the best place to get a wok and Chinese cooking utensils- and was it ever! The owner was so kind and explained the differences to us. He helped us choose the best option and picked out a spatula for us. We also got a bamboo steamer and he suggested a short foot steaming tool that was amazing. He was careful to never be pushy, just informative and so lovely. He also directed us to a grocery store on mott street where we got so many traditional Chinese ingredients we couldn’t have found otherwise. I can’t recommend this business enough!

Amazing family run business (came highly recommended from the Wok of Life, a very popular Chinese cooking blog). The owner was very knowledgeable about woks and cooking tools for Chinese cooking. I appreciated that he shared a lot of tips with us and considerations when buying a wok. When we would ask questions about if it was necessary to buy any other accessories for cooking with a wok, he mentioned it would be best to wait and see if I ever find a need for it rather than just stocking up on a bunch of accessories. Very honest business. Will come by again.

Lovely and classic New York experience with a great assortment of well priced specialty cookware.

When I was a kid, my mother would take me food shopping in Chinatown and sometimes we would visit various stores to get knick knacks for her to use at home. Maybe she needed an "S" shaped hook to hang something. Or maybe she needed a small pot. Sometimes it was a specific type of filter for the sink drain. Other times it's a uniquely shaped brush. Now, you might think nowadays you can just go to Target or Walmart for such things but you'd be wrong. It is kind of amazing how much stores like that *do not* have. That is where stores like KK Discount Store come into play. Back in the 80's and 90's (even the early 2000's) there were at least 4-5 stores in Chinatown that sold these kind of wares, but no longer. KK remains one of the last ones and I am so thankful it is there. As soon as you walk up to the store you see a ton of products outside the store. Sponges, soaps, things to hang your laundry, organizers, strainers...I'm not kidding when I say you could spend hours just going through every single little thing this store has. Inside are several aisles worth of housewares. There is an aisle with pots, pans and other cooking instruments. Another aisle has bowls, plates and utensils. Yet, a different aisle has items like incense. On a recent visit I was looking for a container for bar soap for me to carry to the gym. I tried Target and other bigger stores first but it was Ultimately KK that had what I needed! The couple that runs the shop are super nice and always open to questions about where to find a product. This store is also very reasonably priced. I recently purchased a couple scouring pads and it only cost me $1.50! I'm sure they would have been more at Home Depot or something (assuming they even had them). This may not be the most touristy spot to visit in Chinatown but I think stores like this are valuable to the fabric of the community and they have a lot to offer. Give KK a visit!

This is such a wonderful small business to come out and support. I had read about a string of shoplifting that affected this mom and pop and I had to come out and support. As an Asian American, it hits closer to home when it affects my community. Ken helped me pick the perfect wok, handle, and lid and it was SO reasonably priced - about $46 overall. I've never owned a wok before and Ken knew exactly the right questions to answer. I'm very happy with my purchases and plan to make a stir fry tonight! This is a game changer :)

Love this place. I'm so glad it reopened after the water damage due to the nearby fire! I have a knife set that handles most of my needs, but I've wanted to treat myself to getting a Chinese cleaver after watching a bunch of cooking vids. I should've known I was in trouble as soon as I walked in because they had a ton of little goodies that I just HAD to have. I picked up wooden spoons, extra chopsticks, little bowls for soy sauce, and of course my Chinese cleaver. Honestly if I didn't scurry out of there I probably would've convinced myself to get a bigger rice cooker. I'll definitely be back though and will want to stock up on more kitchen items.

This store is the embodiment of the Chinatown of my childhood. They carry all the kitchen and home essentials. But more importantly, the store and its merchandise evokes all the memories of home cooked meals and big banquet dinners with family and friends where adults could chat and drink all night while us kids played cards and games while eating all the multiple courses. Walking into KK Discount Store feels like home, and I wish I lived closer so that I could browse everything for days. They carry every classic pattern of Chinese dish/serve ware, as well as more modern and minimalist styles. You want a teaspoon? They have a million to choose from and all under $2. You couldn't even buy a plain coffee in NYC for some of their low prices! The owners are very friendly and offer help to find whatever you might need. I highly recommend checking out KK Discount for any home goods, kitchen ware, serving platters, tea sets, dishes and more! Not only are you supporting Chinatown small businesses, but their store prices are really unbeatable!

When people talk about New York, they never mention the storms! Unlucky for me, I was caught in a pretty bad one on my last day in NY last week. I had called ahead and asked if the store carries umbrellas... and they do! Thank you to the sweet lady who had umbrellas and ponchos ready for us on that stormy NY day. You are a lifesaver!

Amazing little store with everything! If you have been searching for that specific kitchen gadget (mortar and pestle, sake drinking sets, chopsticks, serving spoons, bamboo steamers, soy sauce dishes, etc) they probably have it here and good prices. It may be hard to find some items but if you show the staff a picture of the item, they will locate it for you. Great place to find the perfect gift for friends who enjoy cooking Asian food.

KK is my favorite place to go to for kitchenware. You never know what you end up leaving with. The owners are sweet. This place is truly a gem in NYC

This place is amazing! My sister and I went to so many different mom and pop stores in Chinatown to find a Tin Can to burn paper money for our mother's passing. Who would have thought it would be so hard to find, it was even harder for us due to the language barrier. With our chopped up canto mixed with English, it was just a difficult experience all together. We walked down mulberry and saw KK discount store, my sister was like let's try there! I have already accepted defeat, like no way they'll have it why would they have this special tin can at a mom and pop discount store? Sure enough!!! We walked in and just assumed there would be a language barrier, the owner was so kind and really took the time out to assist us. He even gave us some great suggestions and ideas on what to do when we get home. He may not know this, but his patience with us and taking out those few mins to have a conversation with us made our day!!!!! It made up for our multiple failed attempts in finding this special tin can! If there's anything you feel discount stores should carry, they will most likely have it! My sister and I will def be returning, we will try our best to come back as often as we need to, small businesses like these deserve and need our support!! The owner was so nice, I couldn't wait to write this review! I didn't want to push it off for later and forget, so I literally left the store and stopped at a bakery to write this review!

Basic homegoods store run by a friendly auntie and uncle. They held onto my items while I shopped so I wasn't balancing a thousand things in my arms at a time. You can find a wide selection of items here, including rice bowls, kitchen necessities, washing bins, bathroom necessities, etc. at a decent price. They take card! Edit: Saw some bowls I'd purchased here at Pearl River Mart recently... at double the price! Definitely check out KK for comparable dishes before purchasing at PRM.

We loved our experience here. Literally everything I could think of that I need is somehow crammed inside this store, and I personally loved how small the aisles are- it made me feel like I was an explorer. The man working there was so nice and helpful, offering up his opinion on the wok we should choose and keeping our things up at the register for us as we accumulated more items to purchase. You can't beat the prices or the variety of products so the next time I need a kitchen item, I'll be back!

This small discount shop is 90% kitchen and restaurant supplies including plastic and ceramic bowls, dishes, cups, tea kettles, and chopsticks. They also have cooking utensils, bamboo steamers, and other restaurant-grade items such as salt and pepper shakers and hot/soy sauce containers. Also, some small appliances. It can be quite cramp inside, some aisles can only be entered from one end and I definitely had to watch my head and limbs while navigating around. The store was a good place for me to purchase two large bowls ideal for wonton soup at a reasonable price. I will likely return when I need to add to my set.

I read about this store in an article that described it as the "Asian Mom & Pop Target", so I went to check it out when I heard they recently reopened. The shop is small but it definitely lived up to that description as they had everything that you can think of.  The owners are a lovely husband & wife couple who told me they've had the store for 30 something years. I was really excited to see that they carried window screens that were sold out everywhere else in the size I've been looking for so I bought a few. I've even gone back already to purchase more things. They will be my go to as I want to support more local businesses, especially during this pandemic.

Local kitchen supplies and hardware store. Just moved to NYC from SF and picked up almost all of my household items here. So much cheaper than Target and cute asian items too. #SCORE

The store owner is very helpful and friendly. I went to the store to get an electric pot for heating the water and I also needed a hot plate to warm up my food. I don't want a microwave. The store owner introduced me to a product which has multi-use and he answered my questions.

Like the other reviewer said, this plate is cramped & 90% kitchen supplies like bowls and glasses. It was really hard to navigate around this place due to the magnitude of stuff they had, so I didn't spend too much time here. I didn't really see anything I was interested in either. A lot of kind of generic asian kitchenware, not to much unique stuff sadly.
