K Like Karakter - K Beach Club

Good place, nice positive vibes, very friendly staff but it's a bit pricey. Minimum consumption is 25$ per person, drinks are $14, and food starts at $20 but most plates are around $30... The place is better in the morning before the DJ arrives, they put some nice music in the morning but when the DJ comes in the afternoon the only thing you want is to get out of there, completely changing the vibe. I would recommend that place for spending the day at Simpson Bay beach, but be prepared for paying for that.

Thierry did an awesome job fixing this place up making it a more elegant eatery but yet the same casual atmosphere where everyone is welcome. With a new French chef the biggest improvement is the food, they serve French classics with local ingredients such as Fresh catch, salads, tomatoes and other herbs grown on SXM or Anguilla. Everything is perfectly prepared and best of all is you eat with one of the best views on the island, watching over white sandy Simpson Bay Beach, seeing Saba and the Mega Yachts infront and having the airport with planes landing in the back. Drinks were great and the service super friendly, helpful and has a very cool new uniform. Visiting these types of places makes you realize to live in paradise! Certainly worth your visit, if we had to recommend something, the fresh catch of the day, the daily specials and the skirt steak were all amazing!

We were a group of 4 and had been here before in past years. It was busy but not packed and we did not have to wait for a table. The food took forever to arrive. Our server who was very nice explained that another server had taken her (our) order. After maybe 45 minutes one of the meals arrived, a salad which was ordered and had asked it to be without artichokes. The owner of the place came over and I asked him about our order and how another server had taken it and he said our server lied and it didn’t happen that way and that there were 30 people ahead of us. There were not 30 people in the whole place! I then asked why the salad came with the artichokes when ordered when without? His response was … we should not have ordered that salad if we didn’t want the artichokes. So much for the customer being right. Okay, so the food was actually pretty good, the service was pleasant but painfully slow. With so many choices of places to go, pick anywhere else but here.

What a fantastic place! What a beautiful music and amazing food!!! We’re coming here for so many years and I must say one thing, this place, during the past year, has been highly upgraded. We love the staff, so friendly, and the new owners Catherine and Thierry. Highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️

The ambience and views are great but our service and food were subpar, at best. When my party of 3 arrived, we were one of two parties in the restaurant. However, it took at least 30 minutes to receive our food. When our food arrived, I was served pretty much uncooked wings.. since we were headed to the airport, I couldn’t order another entree, because we didn’t have time. I had, luckily, ordered a side salad so I was good for the time being. Although it would have been nice to be offered to comp my salad since my wings were RED on the inside…

Karakter Beach Bar has a great chill vibe. The beach chairs and umbrellas are free with drinks and food service to your seat. The menu has always been excellent and recently they have updated it so though old favourites are still available some new ones have arrived. Particularly good are the crab cake tapas. The serving is generous and they are completely crab meat. There is a large choice of wine and drinks here. The drinks as well are generous (strong ;) The service is excellent and they will reserve a table at the restaurant if you would like to move from the beach for your meal. This is one of my favourite beaches to swim at. It is a deep beach. You can swim quickly. It is always clear. The surf tends to be gentle and the kind the pushes you back to shore. During Heineken Race you can see all kinds of spectacular yachts moored in front of the beach. Not to worry, these are BIG Yachts and they are well away from the beach. If you get tired of lounging and swimming you can always watch the planes. 2024 - So Karakter is not what is was. The menu is new and frankly dull and over priced. The chairs and umbrellas are shabby and even the sign is missing stuff. However the biggest change and the biggest disappointment is the change of attitude towards guest. No longer do they offer free chairs and umbrellas. Rather a set (two chairs and an umbrella) is now $50. Alternatively if you spend $50 on food or drinks then your chairs are free! Big joke. As I mentioned the food is lacklustre and really not worth the price. Karakter is now a miss. We will be spending our beach time at Mary’s Boon where the chairs are still free. 2025 - Down to just a K. Same old umbrellas and chairs through. The restaurant has new cushions though. The owner is still rude though. Oh well.

Sadly Karakter is not what is was. There is a $50 minimum now. Either you pay that for the beach chairs or you eat $50 worth of food and drinks. Though the food part doesn’t sound terrible except their current menu is both boring and expensive. The food is meh. Not terrible but not really worth it. There are plenty of other beaches so we will be giving this one a pass in the future. Makes us sad we were regular visitors to karakter and used to love it. This is the third owner we have witnessed and not the best u fortunately. Edit: this is the price for TWO chairs. As I mention above the reference to chairs was plural. It is very uncommon to see a person alone in a set of beach chairs. As well the cushions and umbrellas are quite shabby but I will also add that it appears that the umbrella is free!! But again this is not the place it was. Well where is the A? Missing letter on name is a bit sketch

K. for Krowded to Krazy. What just happened? It went from a perfect place to one where the menu has doubled in price. The chairs are offered with $25 of purchases, but they are already priced down in your food/drinks. There is nothing under $30. While I admit the burger was better than it was, trendy music doesn’t make you trendy all year long. Having the vacationers is one thing, getting over the 4 seasons is something else. Not for the locals anymore… Time to move on I suppose!
