The 19 Best Maui Restaurants for Poke, Homemade Desserts, and More | Condé Nast Traveler

"Ka'ana Kitchen, overlooking the terraced pools at Andaz Maui , is an earthy, modern, sun-filled space that's sleek and welcoming in the daytime and romantically low-lit in the evening. Though the menu changes seasonally, you can expect dishes like the Kona Kampachi poke with local beets and Hawaiian chili pepper, grilled octopus with Big Island chevre, and risotto with local Ali'i mushrooms and miso. Every dish is clean, bright, and flavorful, and portions are hearty and served family-style. Leave room for dessert—the chocolate tres leches with Kona coffee ice cream is a dream." - Juliana Shallcross, Kris Fordham

"Expect the unexpected at Ka‘ana Kitchen, set within the funky yet sophisticated Andaz Maui. Here, executive chef Isaac Bancaco draws from the best of the island’s bounty, using local ingredients in a mix of Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, French, and Native Hawaiian cuisine. Think breadfruit hush puppies, Kona clams with savory malasadas (Portuguese doughnuts), and ahi tataki with burrata and lilikoi (passion fruit), enhanced only by the restaurant’s sweeping coastal views. You don’t need to change out of casualwear to dine here, but Bancaco has a knack for turning meals into events, inspiring diners to dress up a little."

Our server John provided exceptional service helping us understand the menu. He was very tentative, ensuring we always had water and drinks filled. The food was delicious, the farm to table concept came alive here, offering fresh and local ingredients from around the island. Between the four of us who dined, we shared our food, having the chance to taste more than what we ordered. Highly recommend sharing and here are some highlighted menu options: Grilled Octopus Salad, Coconut Clams, Waygu Hanger, Watermelon Salad (Apps), Risotto, Seared Scallops, Maui Caught Fish (Entrees). I wanted to extend a special thank you to John and Mike for an enjoyable dinner service and experience, the live music from below provide a special touch to an amazing dinner.

Google
Amazing view overlooking pool and beach during sunset, Hawaiian/asian fusion with super interesting and thought out flavors and combinations. Type of place where you just trust the menu and the chefs to give you the best bites of your life. Every single part of this meal, from the drinks to the apps to the main course was absolutely divine. Heaven on earth.

Google
We experienced the chefs table here. Which was very cool. Sit at bar table off the chefs area. Watch them work and pre pare the food. They are a very well-oiled machine. The head chef came over numerous times to check on us chat and was super friendly. We had a six course meal that the head chef set up. You can opt to pair wines. The food was amazing. Definitely give this a try for something a little more personal or intimate.

Their dinner was okay. Nothing really stuck out to me, they all tasted good. Service was okay too. I like their breakfast service a lot more!

Google
Came here again last week and I really enjoyed the meal. The restaurant was not that busy, but when we came back for breakfast the place was packed. Both times, the food and service were really good. Nice restaurant, with an amazing view. The service was warm and friendly, but the menu is small. I very much enjoyed the Ahi Tataki, but the Big Eye Tuna was not my favorite. The gnocchi and wagyu were delicious though.

Google
The clams, octopus salad, and watermelon salad all live up to the hype. The Haleakala chevre with the octopus is incredible. I could eat that with croutons alone, but the perfectly cooked octopus went so well with it. Then, you have the clams with the to-die-for sauce. Watermelon salad is also an experience. The mains also exceeded expectations. 4.4 stars as of this writing severely underrates this place. Add on the beautiful grounds and ambience, and you have a wonderful dining experience.

Google
We had a great dining experience at Ka’ana Kitchen in Maui. The food was delicious and well-prepared, with the grilled octopus salad and ahi tataki standing out as our favorites. However, I found the dessert selection to be somewhat limited. We ordered almost all the desserts available, but I still couldn’t find one that I liked. Additionally, be careful with the tables, especially if you are with kids. They can easily tip over if pushed too much on one side (that happened to us)

Google
Fabulous dinner for the whole family - so glad we came here after reading a recommendation from Eater. Making a reservation was easy through Opentable and the drive from our hotel took a few minutes. Once on site, we were seated promptly inside. Our server Chris was welcoming and helpful; we had plenty of attention from the busboys throughout the meal. We tried several different starters, mains and desserts - octopus salad, watermelon salad, beet salad, and Caesar salad with seared ahi were all excellent; risotto, fettuccine with mussels and sausage, and scallops were top notch. We barely had room for dessert but decided to try chocolate and vanilla ice cream as well as the chocolate torte. To be fair, the main dishes stole the show! We look forward to being back here again!

Yelp
Here for a family dinner with family visiting from Oahu to celebrate the GIFT donation fundraiser party. First off, the ambiance was amazing. Such a scenic area with great live music and open air. Love how the chefs table is the middle of the restaurant to see the behind the scenes. The entire staff was amazing. Hostess to Food runners to SAs to our server. Hostess was welcoming. Food runners/SAs were attentive. Our server did great in explaining the menu, checking on us and answering any questions we had. Drinks were fresh and most importantly, strong. Cooks looked like they were enjoying their time. Service: 10/10 Chef Chance did such an amazing job with the flavors of every dish! He explained to us the dishes and easily sold us on the menu. Love how the typical back of the house gets showcased in the front here, looks like such a fun team to work with. But man let me tell you about the food. The flavors of literally everything were so unique and well paired together, as we say in hawaii "MOP SESHHH" The octopus salad and their crab dip were my favorite appetizers. Hanger steak flavor is 10/10 and the fried chicken and waffles were amazing . Waffles is more of a mochi which was unique but great Perfect for a date night spot, special occasion , or impressing family visiting maui. We will def be back to try more of the menu!!

Yelp
This restaurant located in Andez hotel, maui. This is our 2nd time having breakfast buffet. We came 2 years ago when we stayed at Andez. No need to reserve, plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. I think we got the same server last time. Food + drink: Fresh green juice, coconut water, pinapple ,orange juice. Coffee - order with your server. You can also ask for milk substitution like almond or oat milk. They also have a la carte menu. Assortment of pastry + bread Pancake, mochi waffle, Malassada Fried noddle Omelette - you order with your server Bacon, sausage, scramble eggs and portugese sausage Fruits, deli meat and cheese station Grilled veggies and salad Overall good. It's just our server need help to bus our table or even with getting ketchup, coffee and creamer. Restroom: just right outside by the restaurant Breakfast buffet $49. 6am-11am Be careful, lots of small birds try to nibble from your plate if you seat at outdoor area.

Yelp
What an AMAZING chef's table experience we had dining at Ka'ana. This was supposed to be our 1 year anniversary dinner back in 2023, but we had postponed our trip to Maui due to the Lahaina fire. I'm so glad we rebooked for this trip to indulge in an incredibly delicious meal with one of the most engaging and down to earth staff. What I loved about this tasting menu was the ability to share and try more dishes. They mentioned Ka'ana means "to share". We each had a 6-course meal, but dishes 2-4 were different so we could swap and try more. Chef was even so kind to cook up a taster of their fried chicken w/ black sesame mochi waffle dish just because he heard us talking about it, and it turned out to be my husband's fave dish of the night. I loved our experience so much, but was initially hesitant to come back because I wouldn't want to eat the same dishes. The F&B manager mentioned they take record of our meal so we wouldn't repeat the same dishes in a future visit, or take note of our favorites in case we'd like a repeat. Service was extremely attentive, but not overbearing. It was such a great show watching the kitchen work throughout the evening. We'll definitely be back for another chef's table tasting soon!

Yelp
Food was excellent, dare I say better than mamas fish house. The flavors were amazing. We had the octopus salad and it was perfection. Waygu hanger steak and papaya salad and the scallops with gnocchi and pork belly. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service was ok but you can't beat the view. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came for valentines. Changed our previous plans to come here. Reservation was 7:30. Seated after 8. Waiter was so rude. Hardly saw him. Wife tried ordering a cocktail and he abruptly turned and walked away while she was mid sentence before she could complete her order. We left before the meal was served because the service was horrific. Not what you'd expect at a resort like this. Go to the Four Seasons instead. Much better experience for your money.

Yelp
Let's be honest here. If you're going to this hotel restaurant, the food is probably not the first thing that drew you in. I mean the views here are spectacular. They're everything you could want and more. Just a really pleasant ambiance and experience. That said, the food ain't too shabby either. You're going to pay for those views though, but not so much more than anywhere else in the area. And truth be told, we had some pretty good food to go with our view. Our salad and fish dishes were done well and the dessert was quite good. The chicken dish... tasted about as good as it looks (just OK). But overall the experience was about what we were looking for and expecting. Not too shabby at all...

Yelp
Ate here for brunch for 2 mornings while staying at the andaz. Both days were really good! The food, staff and ambiance were excellent. It costs $49/adult and my 3 year old son was free. Some of my favorites from the buffet were the pastries, potatoes, made to order omelet and all the juices. It was nice that you could order your omelet with the server instead of having to wait in a line to order like normal buffets. My son has a severe nut allergy but this buffet had tons of options for him too so we also enjoyed it a lot.

Yelp
Beautiful view, though it can be a bit distracting if you are sitting outside right behind the lounge one floor below. We were just off the corner of the lower lounge area and I kept seeing the giant TV screen playing sports, which kinda dampens the mood. You also hear any live music from the lounge, which can be good or bad (in our case, we didn't mind it). Food was very well prepared and presented. I liked the appetizers much more than the entrees, but the entrees were still good. We had the following: - Watermelon Salad: Simple but very refreshing and tasty. I would order again. - Kula Beet Salad: Also very delicious, but needs more Kale flakes. Kale is fried and displayed as a topping to the beet salad (as 3-4 medium sized leaves). I would order this again too. - Ahi Tataki: Very unique dish and my wife really loved it. I liked it too, but I don't eat much cheese. I would recommend this dish to others. - Maui Caught Fish: Well prepared, tasty, and with a good portion of vegetables (which isn't often the case with some entrees). I enjoyed it, but appetizers were still my favorites. Service was good, but nothing special. Overall a good experience. I really love the 3 infinity pools you walk by on the way up to the restaurant. And the inside of the restaurant also looks very nice. If you are near the resort and looking for a nice dining option with good views, you should definitely give this a try.

Yelp
My family look forward to the breakfast at Ka'ana kitchen. It was a buffet style with lots of options. They had fried rice, stir fry noodles, miso soup, and then assorted breakfast pastries like pancakes, waffles that changed every day. My favorite is the drink selection. They have over five or six different pressed juices. My go to was the pineapple turmeric. They also have made to order omelettes, all the standard proteins bacon and sausage. They had cereal, yogurt, chia pudding and a whole lot of fruits and cold appetizers. The hot sauce selection is also a huge plus in my book. Make sure you ask for them.

Cephas B.

Yelp
The food and service were excellent. However, I feel they employ a billing practice that should be made clear. My wife and I are residents and asked for their 20% kama'aina. When the bill arrived, there was an 18% 'service charge' they add if you use kama'aina. I did not see this on their website or menu and the server neglected to tell mention it when we requested kama'aina. So the discount is actually 2%, not 20%. If you do not pay attention to your bill and add a tip, you are paying an additional 18% tip. Feels a bit deceptive, but maybe it's just me.

Yelp
The Xmas dinner buffet was NOT worth 200$ per person. While the ambiance and service were decent, the food simply didn't meet expectations for a luxury establishment like the Andaz. I wouldn't recommend it unless they significantly improve the quality of the menu. Definitely not worth the price.
google avatar

Masha B.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our server, truly one of the best I've had in terms of being genuine and kind. Helped find a better drink when mine didn't come out right initially. In terms of food and atmosphere, I really enjoyed it all. Food was unique and I'd highly recommend getting anything that is sushi-grade fish that is toasted on the outside. Truly a unique bite. Would recommend the fish appetizers-- amazing.

Yelp
We love the breakfast buffet at the Ka'ana Kitchen. We went almost every day when we stayed at the Andaz. It is a good value and there are so many delicious choices. The pancakes, pastries and noodle dishes change daily. There are multiple kinds of fresh squeezed juices. They also will make omelettes and eggs to order. The service is excellent. There are nice small gestures such as bringing my iced tea refill in a to go cup when I asked for a refill near the end of the meal. The patio has a wonderful view of the pools and ocean. We've also eaten here at dinner. We try to make our reservations during sunset in the evening. We loved the daily fish and waygu hanger steak appetizer.

Yelp
So. Food was the worst in my life I'm not sure how this can works and for who. For immigrant from Europe, and in our side if you pay 500-600$ for diner at least 3 from 5 dishes will be amazing) In our case no luck. only Champagne was like always. Friendly waiters and taste of Taittinger. Thats why plus 1Highly not recommend

Yelp
The food at Ka'ana Kitchen was basically unimpeachable. The kale, beets, goat cheese, citrus and cinnamon in my salad were a spectacular mixture of flavors and textures. My partner's ahi was similarly creative and cohesive with lilikoi jelly and burrata. We'd return often if we lived here. The positioning along the hotel terrace at sunset was also amazing though the service staff said that they usually have people requesting different seats than the ones they are given because of the blinding light. We too had this issue so it seems like something they should address, not simply discuss. Lastly, our waiter was friendly but did that annoying thing of complimenting his own restaurant via faux humility, asking if the food tastes as good as it looks. No need to build oneself up and put words in our math. We can be the arbiters of both looks and taste. Also, he mentioned the note in my reservation that it was our anniversary and said we should come back for a dessert on the house. This comment didn't make much sense to me. Ultimately a fantastic meal but with one star docked for a few service snags.

Yelp
We came here to cap off our Maui trip and to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. This fine dining restaurant is located in the Andaz Maui resort. Valet parking is included. The hotel and restaurant are modern and elegant We arrived at sunset and were treated to an amazing view. The watermelon salad appetizer was specially prepared and tasted very unique and fresh. Our entrees were perfectly seasoned, cooked and appropriately portioned. The desserts were decadent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. We had a wonderful evening and look forward to coming back again.

Yelp
We have been coming to Ka Ana for over 6 years and it never fails. We had our go to items (watermelon salad, wagyu hanger, and mushroom risotto) but last night we branched out! We tried the buttermilk chicken and mochi waffle, and the shrimp scallop fettuccine. Both of which were excellent. The mochi was divine, well done. I was so happy with our experience that I woke up this morning with a smile and knew I needed to provide a review. Special thanks to the wait staff who have always been spectacular even in times of staff shortages. Thank you Chris for last night and to Tia for many meals before. We shall see you soon

Mikel W.

Yelp
We had dinner at Ka'ana Kitchen and sat at a nice outdoor table with a view of the ocean. We asked the server about recommendations and portion size (to minimize waste), but he replied with non-answers that weren't helpful, so we took a shot and ordered the fried chicken and pork chop. Both were okay, but kind of dry and not anything we'd order again. A couple of days later, after hearing raves about their breakfast buffet, we decided to give the restaurant another try, and I'm so glad we did. The buffet included omelets, all kinds of meats, salmon, potatoes, fruits and just about any breakfast or breakfast-adjacent item you could think of, and everything we ate was excellent.

Yelp
Things have changed with the new chef. I miss the black sesame noodles so much. With that said most other menu items are familiar and delicious. One of my favorite restaurants in Wailea.

Yelp
We've been going to Ka'ana Kitchen since it first opened and the food keeps getting better every time we visit! The family style options, great service and modern aesthetics of the restaurant make for a winning combo. The Waygu beef, watermelon salad, and Ceaser's Salad with Ahi on the side (which I ate it all, family member had dietary requirements) were all amazing, very flavorful, and fresh. Was a great way to start the meal which only got better as the risotto, fried chicken and scallops came out. Everyone of these dish's was amazing, each with its own unique flavors and was prepared to perfection. And to top it off, Popcorn Cheesecake was amazing (I love cheesecake) and a different twist to my favorite desert that tasted a bit like kettle corn in a good way with the popcorn, caramel sauce, and great cream cheese base. All around an amazing dinner that has only gotten better with every trip to Maui over the years!

Andy F.

Yelp
Just celebrated our anniversary at this really special place. The staff (asst mgr Michael) and badass sommelier Tia made the meal really special. Tons of great, fresh flavors and an incredibly thoughtful wine list made it one of our best meals on Maui. Real concern for the largely organic winemakers, and an appreciation of their craft was evident in the list. Loved the infused watermelon salad the most! Nice work chef de cuisine Chance. Didn't stay with the Andaz, but maybe next time.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time! Beautiful view, great service and ambiance, and the food was amazing!! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner here. The service was fantastic and everything was delicious, especially the scallops and the coconut clams. My cocktail was so good I got a second.

Yelp
Did the buffet breakfast and dinner. The ambience is superb, facing beautiful hotel grounds, pools and a little away, the ocean over makapu beach. Service is good but mixed for a place of the stature. Some of staff were exceptional on some days, but others were average. Buffet breakfast: Good selection of island fruit, the usual spread of protein including sausages and smoked salmon, cereals pastries etc. made to order eggs you order through waiter. The highlight was the island fruit at peak ripeness including pineapples and papayas. Dinner: great experience. Food was excellent from the fish preparations through dessert.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Great food but the ambiance is less zen/romantic than morimoto. Our table looked upon two big TVs at the bar with sports playing. Our waitress is lovely, fun, and friendly - really liked the service. MUST GET: Coconut ice cream sundae : best dish that we had at the restaurant. Definitely tried this at the end. Not super sweet but creamy. SOLID: Grilled octopus salad: the first steamed octopus to make it tender then grow it at high heat. Makes this dish a winner. Scallop: balanced flavor with scallop from the east coast. Fried chicken: best enjoyed with the schramsberg Blanc de Blanc SO SO: Watermelon salad ---- We also had all you can eat brunch here on Sunday. Good spread. I really liked the miso soup, papaya, custom made omelette, Portuguese sausage, mochi waffle etc. Fruits are of high quality.

Mea F.

Yelp
Always a good time here. Food was delicious but best is our server. She is amazing year after year and we always enjoy our anniversary celebration here. wine selection is great as well!

Yelp
Buffet brunch at Ka'ana Kitchen at the Andaz Wailea was pure perfection! From the intimate decor, buffet stations, juice bar, pastries, impeccable wait staff service, and lanai views overlooking beautiful Wailea Beach. Guests in line can start with the coffee and juice bar. All in all a wonderful brunch that lived up to its hype. Highly recommend Ka'ana Kitchen when you are a guest at the Andaz, or in the area looking for buffet brunch spots.

Carolyn s.

Yelp
Horrible service and disappointing food. Considering the price I was shocked that the food was comparable to Dennys. Our server was rude and threw the dessert menus on the table with no explanation. The food was not the farm to table concept they advertised. Very sad considering the hotel is high end with $900+ a night rooms!

Sofia Teran ..

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner, the food and drinks were excellent. Our server John was very kind and friendly and the ambience was great as well. We ordered the grilled octopus salad and the burrata dish for starters. I got the shrimp fettuccine and my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles which came with black sesame mochi waffles that were excellent. For drinks I got the something tropical which was a very refreshing mocktail with coconut cream, and my boyfriend got the lilikoi daiquiri which was equally great. I love how this restaurant has an emphasis on farm-to-table dishes and highlights local farms. This is a great place to watch sunset on Maui and was a highlight of our trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Located in the Andaz, valet parking only but they validate for visitors. Made a reservation and they require a credit card to hold the reservation. Mix of indoor and outdoor seating we got there in time to get an outdoor table and views of the resort and sunset are amazing!!!! Great cocktail and wine list. Menu is super interesting and it was hard to decide what to get. Tons of options for gluten free and vegetarian diners. Tuna tataki was a take on the caprese salad. I was skeptical but the flavor profile was amazing. For my main I had sweet potato cakes with mushrooms and green beans and it was tied together with a really amazing sauce. My husband had the mushroom risotto which was also quite tasty. We finished off the meal with a chocolate banana rum cake and WOW! Fantastic service, fantastic food. Great place to check out for a date night or dinner out on vacay!

Yelp
My husband and I tried a few different restaurants while we were in Maui this trip: Morimoto (3 stars), Ferraros (4 stars), Gather (4 stars), The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea (4 stars), KO (3.5 stars), and Ka'ana Kitchen (5 stars). Ka'ana Kitchen was by far our favorite!! Everything was so fresh (farm to table), the service was excellent and the ambiance was amazing with the sunset view and live music. We highly recommend it to all our friends and family.
google avatar

Katie A.

Yelp
Ka'ana Kitchen came highly recommended to us! Not my favorite entree that I ordered in Maui but they have a unique menu and the service was very quick. The indoor area of the restaurant is a little underwhelming, so I was glad we were seated outdoors, which overlooks the beautiful Andaz pool and bar area. They had live music when we were there which was nice! The best thing we ordered was the Grilled Octopus appetizer. It came with a nice portion of perfectly cooked octopus, chèvre cheese, and a light dressing. We also ordered the ahi tataki appetizer which was a really interesting dish. I never would've thought that ahi tuna and burrata would taste so good together! I had high hopes for the ahi bigeye entree but it fell a little short. The serving of tuna could've been a little bigger and there were only a few mushrooms on the plate. However, the different sauces it was plated with were really flavorful and made the other vegetables a little more exciting! My husband ordered the Maui Caught Fish entree, which was Monchong when we went there. He said it reminded him of a Chilean sea bass and that the overall dish was delicious. I snuck a few bites and liked his entree better than what I ordered for sure :) We finished off our meal with a bowl of the coconut ice cream, the perfect palette cleanser!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Maui. First, we were greeted by Angie and she is very friendly. The moment you walk in, you feel like you are on vacation. Our server John W. is amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Food is always amazing. Definitely pick a few items on the menu to share so you can try them all.

Yelp
This is just for the breakfast buffet. We have stayed here twice now over two years, and unfortunately the first time we went was much better (2022 vs 2023). Last year, the breakfast buffet was $50 per person but included coffee or espresso drinks. Now, in 2023, it's extra and coffee, tea, lattes are extra. It's $8 for a latte, and if you chose non dairy milk, it's an extra $1, making it $9. One server said black coffee was included, another morning another server said it wasn't, so the information was very inconsistent. Last year the selection seemed to change every day, but this year everything seems to be the same every day with minor changes if any. No different fruits, veggies, juices. They had some rotational things like pancakes and waffles, but the cross contamination seemed really high when I inquired about the chefs about it for nuts so I didn't try those. 18% gratuity is included.

Yelp
Heard a bunch of good reviews about Ka'ana Kitchen and had to check it out myself. Had reservations but since we got there earlier than our scheduled time, the host was able to take us in earlier. I really liked the farm to table concept, but felt the food was so-so.. the menu is categorized by apps and mains, so our server recommended my mom and I each order 1 app and 1 main dish. We settled on the grilled octopus salad, kampachi crudo, Maui caught fish, and sweet potato ginger. I think my favorite dish was the sweet potato ginger, followed by the Maui caught fish (which reminded me of a twist on Filipino sinigang), and then the grilled octopus salad. I'm glad the grilled octopus was actually tender, but thought it didn't match well with the chèvre. Didn't care too much for the crudo either. The service and ambiance were great, but I think I'd only go back o try their breakfast!

Yelp
Terrific breakfast a must for Andaz hotel guests, sophisticated dinner well worth stopping in for. A spacious and beautifully appointed indoor/outdoor space within the Andaz, the breakfast spread delights with a substantial rotating variety for return visitors -- all of which make for a yummy and terrific start to the day. The staff are friendly, with rad folks on their staff like Jenny setting the guest experience bar super high. Dinner is really special and well executed, easily a standout full service experience in Wailea and Maui as a whole. The menu is quality over quantity, neatly categorized by vegetables, fish, and farm (meat). Presentation, ingredients, and flavors are all top notch. Wonderful.

Yelp
My wife and I arrived with our two kids under 3 for our reservation. They opened the doors five minutes late, then they proceeded to seat multiple parties who came after us including a walk-in. The hostess told us we were next but instead we just waited. Didn't seem to care that it's extremely difficult having little kids at a restaurant, which is why we made reservations. Also you can see the kitchen and we did not like what we saw at all from the cooks. Read the reviews closely, not surprised people are getting sick from this place. There is nothing interesting about the decor of this place, they seat people in a hallway. We decided to leave. We never made it out of the starting gate with k'ana kitchen. The whole experience was very dissapointing.

Yelp
We were staying at a different resort down the street but decided to make a reservation here to try it out. We ordered the coconut clams, wagyu hanger, and the scallops. We loved every single dish! Our favorite was the scallops which were ontop of a mochi pancake, super unique and flavorful. Cocktails were solid as well. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in Wailea

Yelp
I'm starting by saying this review almost didn't happen - my wife and I were seriously considering walking out before even being seated. We had 5:45pm reservations and arrived shortly before the restaurant opened at 5:30. While the door was unlocked, the hostess was turning people away from checking in until 5:30. That I understand. Where it got frustrating is once 5:30 rolled around, we went up to check in yet were turned away because our reservation was not for another 15 min and there were others ahead of us. Still okay. However, when we went up at 5:40 with every other party seated and no one but us waiting and yet again were turned away ... well, that got my BP up. We were told we would had to wait until closer to our reservation time. Closer than 5 minutes? Seriously?! There was no one else in the lobby waiting and almost the entire restaurant empty. What made it worse is that there was not even an attempt to accommodate or to offer water or drink from the bar. Nothing. At this point we almost left. The only thing that held us back was our previous experience at this restaurant, which was wonderful. A second hostess finally approached and we were led to our table. A nice little four top with a view. And from this point on the story takes a turn for the better...in fact, I don't want to spoil the ending - but wow / it takes a great turn for the better. Our very friendly server recommended a nice rose on special which was just what we needed to start to decompress after the checkin fiasco. Looking over the menu (again, as we had pored over it online, and during our wait in the lobby) we really couldn't decide what to order. We stayed with our first instinct and ordered the watermelon salad and the octopus salad. Oh my! Both were fabulous. The watermelon salad was light and refreshing. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the lemon oil drizzle on the greens, balanced by a silky smooth goat cheese - outstanding. We were still a little hungry - so I decided to try their catch of the day - swordfish prepared with a fennel/pork belly chorizo sauce. And, to indulge a guilty pleasure, we ordered a side of curly fries that we noticed the kids at the next table having. I haven't had swordfish for the longest time - and this might have been the best preparation I've ever had. Firm, succulent, moist - and the flavors from the fennel and chorizo (and let's face it - mostly the chorizo) were spot on. And perhaps not surprisingly - the side of curly fries was great too - made even better when we poured the extra chorizo sauce over the top - our version of a poutine. Having had three (four?) excellent dishes - and being comfortably full - I decided to press my luck and order the coconut macadamia nut sundae because - why not? Yep - good choice! Tasty ice cream and candied macadamia nuts. A very nice end to a delicious meal. I learned my lesson here - patience is a virtue. We're glad we stayed. A five star meal only marred by the initial service. The check-in could have definitely been handled with more grace, but the food more than made up for it.

Yelp
Food was good, views were great, service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable meal. Staff was so attentive and gracious. Some of the hotel guests/ other diners make the vibe a bit pretentious, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. I watched a full blown Karen send her meal back halfway through because she didn't like the taste after the server had explained the dish flavors in detail before she ordered it. insert eye roll. Everyone from the restaurant was very warm and friendly though, and our meals were delicious. vegan friendly too :) Definitely recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Good selection of breakfast options in this buffet style breakfast at our resort. It might be a little pricey for breakfast but this is Maui and expected. We ate here because we didn't want to drive the island this day. Service was great. They really try to make sure you're taken care of.

Yelp
Oh Hawaii how I miss you!!! We stayed here since our friends had a Wailea Hawaii wedding I love this place especially when the food surprises you! The staff here is so lovely, friendly, FUN, wants you to enjoy the meal, exciting, and oh so kind! Thank you Ambiance in this place is open, airy, and the view is so beautiful. Definitely sit by the balcony area so you can catch the sunset at dinner or sunrise in the morning. We went here for their delicious buffet. I really loved the juices, oatmeal, and bacon. Sure sure so simple but the way they make it makes a quality difference. Ok onto the dinner food!!! The dishes are well presented, quality, and the flavors are subtle yet powerful. Gotta taste it for yourself :) We ordered the... -sesame noodles: sooooo yummy!! -fried chicken like wow definitely different from the norm -scallops over risotto omg those scallops perfectly seared over a bed of light yet creamy risotto -butterfish or some sort of delicious fish lol -annnnnd all of their desserts are amazing! I remember a chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream and macadamia nuts...so good! We definitely want to go back again!!! Cheers chef and Andaz Maui!

Yelp
What a beautiful space and property!! The service was kind, efficient albeit a little rushed. My meal was a disappointment (overcooked and overpriced) but without me asking our waiter made up for it which was great. My partner's meal was amazing. Our cocktails were great.

Yelp
Solid four stars. We didn't want to leave the Andaz resort so came here for dinner. The waitress forgot to bring our drink order until about fifteen minutes later when we reminded her and she admitted to forgetting. The drinks ended up coming out the same time as our food. I thought this was a family share but the portions didn't seem that huge. My husband and I split two entrees -the fried chicken and mushroom risotto and we finished it all. I found the fried chicken to be a little dry and needing more salt but the pineapple salsa with it and cornbread was delicious. Solid four stars overall. The mushroom risotto was so good and warmed my heart. The runny egg was cooked perfectly and created a nice creamy risotto. It was very flavorful, creamy, and you could actually taste the mushrooms. It was my favorite. Despite loving the risotto, the price is pretty steep at almost $40. But I guess that's what you'd expect at a restaurant at the Andaz.

Yelp
Every time I've been to this restaurant has always been very good. The menu is not extensive but what they serve is very tasty made of high-quality ingredients and nicely prepared service is attentive but not overwhelming. Tonight we tried two entrées the risotto which I've had before and Amati mahi catch of the day entrée with fennel and sausage in a creamy sauce very nice preparation we end of the meal with a chocolate cake which had banana fosters on the side As I said before I'm not really sure this is fine dining but it's high quality food presented in a relaxed atmosphere

Yelp
We were looking for a food place to have dinner and picked Ka'ana Kitchen. Reservation was easy to make via OpenTable. We arrived and was told they only offer valet parking. I understand often valet parking is the only option in many fine dining places but I thought this should be made an exception during the pandemic since some people might want to reduce the number of contacts with others. But it was fine for us so we handed over the keys and went inside. When we arrived at the restaurant we had our temperature taken before the receptionist led us to our table. I could see all staff there were wearing a face mask and they would avoid pouring water for the customer which was nice and considerate. Our waitress was very nice and helped us pick the cocktail which we loved. I ended up order another cocktail that night. We truly enjoyed the grilled octopus with goat cheese. The catch of the day and the ahi tataki. The risotto was a little underwhelming but that is just a personal taste so don't let it deter you. The ambient was vibrant and lively with live performance in progress when we arrived. Though it was too far for us to see anything but it truly made you feel like you are in a tourist town. Some people may find it nice and enjoy Maui with fewer tourists which I like too. But that night I felt it was more lively thanks to the performance at Andaz. Overall I think this is a good place and I definitely recommend anyone visiting Maui to make a reservation and dine here for a night.

Yelp
I usually reserve one fine dining dinner when I go on vacation to Maui, and this time I chose Ka'ana Kitchen. You can choose to do the Chef's Table Tasting Menu that comes with 6 courses (5 savory and 1 dessert) for $125 pp, or you can choose 3 items that you'd like for $85. I decided to go with the Chef's Table. You can also add their wine pairing with each course for an additional $125 pp, but I opted to just get 1 glass of wine since I had to drive back to my Airbnb. I made reservations several weeks in advance and was able to get the day and time that I wanted. The restaurant is beautiful, as it's located inside the Andaz Wailea. Parking is valet only, but you can get your ticket validated and they will waive the $15 fee. The attire is dressy casual. Upon arrival, I was impressed to find a personalized name plate in front of my place setting. Such a classy touch! I was immediately greeted by my server, who poured me a complimentary glass of rose. What a great first impression! The service continued to be superb throughout the evening, with various servers and managers checking on me to ensure that all was going well. It's an open air kitchen and those who select the Chef's Table get to sit around the open air kitchen where the Cooks are preparing the meals. There are approximately 5 Cooks - each one assigned to a different station - pantry, grill, saute, etc, and different dishes. You get to see (and smell) all of the dishes that they are cooking. The Cooks are personable and work very well together as a team. I got to sit in front of Brian, who made a lot of the fish and seafood dishes. In my opinion, that seat was the best one in the house! The courses came out one at a time. There is supposed to be 6 courses total, and they even gave me a complimentary course! They also mentioned that if there was anything else that I wanted to try (in addition to the 6 courses), then to just let them know. I didn't take advantage of that because clearly there was already so much food, but it was a nice offer. Here are the dishes that I tried (see my photos attached): Watermelon Salad - goat cheese feta, li hing mui, candied walnuts Ahi Tataki - zuhair tomatoes, fresh burrata, lilikoi Wagyu Hanger - nuoc cham, green papaya, peanut AND Grilled Octopus - lemon oil, olive bread, Big Island chevre Scallop Risotto - saiko miso, shiitake mushroom, shrimp XO Fried Chicken - greens, butter mochi, HI spice jalapeño-lime I cannot remember what this dish was! ‍ I was already in a major food coma. Dessert Sampler - A) Ku'ia Estate Chocolate Mousse - Haleakala goat caramel, sweet potato & taro chips, black lava salt. B) Coconut Sundae - coconut ice cream, chocolate sauce, macadamia, coconut cake C) Caramelized Chocolate Cheesecake - white chocolate specks, pickled blueberries, cracked black pepper meringue For $125, this meal was an extreme value for the amount of dishes you get to try. The portions are supposed to be tasting portions, but to me they were very generous in size. All of the dishes were delicious. I was full by the 4th dish, but I kept on going because I wanted to try them all! I would highly recommend this meal if you are celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself to a wonderful evening.

Yelp
What is really special about this place is the sunset view. Definitely make a reservation and request patio seating around sunset because quite frankly its hard to beat a wailea sunset view while eating good food and having a drink
