The stay was good, nothing spectacular but we chose Kaanapali for the space and the full kitchen and laundry in the room all of which were greatly appreciated. I know this is a condo development so less frills, but we didn't think the room was super clean and found it a little dated. Also we asked for cleaning to be done a couple of days in and it wasn't very thorough at all. The room itself had great space and everything we could possibly need in the kitchen, but the lanai was lacking in space and only had one high top table (was so hoping for a lounge chair out there to relax in!). The pool is good, there are plenty of grills if you want to cook yourself, and aside from a small activity desk for towels and chairs offered at the beach, nothing else - no food options, etc. So be prepared to go food shopping somewhere first thing when you arrive. Although walking distance to Whalers which is a huge plus and every other night you can hear and catch a glimpse of the Westin luau next door lol. The hotel is right on the beach which is amazing and also has a nice beachfront (whereas on other parts of Kaanapali the beach space was clearly eroding). |They knew it was my birthday but did nothing (every other resort we stayed at did a little something to make it special. this is just not that kind of place). Lastly, I had a massage at the SPA there by April - it was one of the BEST massages I have ever gotten. Absolutely excellent. Don't miss out!!

We had 22 family members ranging from 3 months to 71 years old, and we were all able to stay at one location, the Kaanapali Alii Resort. We enjoyed the ocean (surfing, snorkeling, playing, body surfing, skim boarding), pools (particularly with the younger family members), barbecue area and everything else that the resort had to offer. The gym was also nicely anointed. It was a very convenient location, walking distance to Black Rock for jumping and snorkeling, (although there was excellent snorkeling at the reef past the waves in front of the Alii), and close to Whalers Village and other resorts and restaurants. I always enjoy the walking path that goes for miles in both directions. We would definitely return and are talking about making it an annual trip.

Located right on beautiful Ka'anapali Beach, we stayed in an Ocean View, 1 bedroom, 2 bath unit. The Condo was beautifully furnished, with a full kitchen Dinner ware and cooking supplies are provided. The dining room overlooks the ocean. Beautiful ocean views from the lanai, living and dining room and fabulous main bedroom. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with towels and bath supplies. Even though unit is marketed as a one bedroom, it was actually 2 sleeping areas. The bonus is the "library" room with Queen bed. The unit also has a full laundry room. ||Property is walking distance to Whaler's Village for shopping and dining. ||We did have a problem with one of the bedrooms, but staff did their best to address it quickly. It did not ruin our stay. We loved it so much, we will return.

Super friendly staff, super clean condo with fully equipped/applianced kitchen. Breakfast bar seating as well as full kitchen table. The pools/hot tub are so clean and the pool seating is very comfortable and plentiful. The resort grounds are stunning and very well maintained. The outdoor concierge desk is super helpful and can answer any question you have on or off the property. The beach in front of the property is perfectly located and the complimentary chairs are so appreciated. The location overall is the perfect walking distance to the busy Whaler’s Village, but far enough away to feel a little more private than the busier areas.

Google
Absolutely love this place. The condos are huge. The cleanliness was immaculate, not a grain of sand or a stray hair to be found anywhere. Pools are great for a family. The beach in front is wide and has a good surf break with a rental shop next door, so ideal place to stay to catch the first waves. We grilled up a delicious dinner and had such a wonderful time. We were there during the tsunami warning and the resort did an excellent job communicating via text with guests, making evacuation rooms and mapsavailable, and providing the most up to date information. Will definitely be back!

First time here using VRBO. I little nervous, but will never go anywhere else. Everyone was so pleasant and cordial. Not just the staff but the residents. Great having a kitchen where you can cook your own breakfast, save a little money and then relax by the pool all day. Purchased our own protein and had the grill masters cook it for us having a family dinner on the beach without the hassle of making reservations, busy restaurant, a BIG bill, etc... We also took our snorkeling gear a quick 20 minutes up the road to the 2 best places on Maui to snorkel. Just loved everything here.

Google
Pros - Unit was very spacious and well-equipped. Beautiful beachfront location and views. Walking distance to plenty of dining/shopping options at Whaler's Village. Free parking. Grocery store is a short 6 minute drive.||Cons - Our unit was old and needed updating. Housekeeping is every third day. No onsite dining options whatsoever.||In conclusion - The location is fantastic and the beach is amazing. We'd stay here again, but we'd request a remodeled unit.

Google
Ridiculously expensive $60 daily charge for beach umbrellas with uncomfortable chairs (no reclining) that were collected by 6 PM was not at all appreciated. There were no recycling bins in the room, shower drains were clogged, fridge water/ice dispenser stopped working but was very loud when it was working. No one monitoring the "adult" pool. So lots of young kids were using it. Also, we were told there was no grill master available after requesting one on our first night. In short, we were expecting better for a 4-star resort.

Yelp
Let me set the stage. It's not a five star hotel resort. We rented it as an AirBnB managed by a front desk. No daily cleaning. Dump your own trash, etc. So for this type of rental, it's top notch. Here's why: The location is perfect. 5 min walk to Whaler's Village. Only 20 min walk all the way to Black Rock, the furthest beach away in the cove. Quick drive out to Highway 30. Easy, and I mean easy access to Lahaina (south) and Honolua or Kampala Bays (north). Choose if you want to shop grocery at Times or Safeway, same distance. Really perfect location. Our apartment was incredible. It didn't face the ocean but that's ok. They have some that do, or the pool. It was huge. Nicely decorated and clean. Lots of space. Two bedrooms and sofa bed. Foosball table. Beach stuff to borrow and even a wagon to haul stuff. Parking garage right there. Always found an open space. Bell hops were helpful and friendly. They got nice gym, clay tennis courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and BBQ grills. All well kept. I could go on but why? It was great condo to stay.

Yelp
We recently stayed at the Kaanapali Ali'i for a week and I just had to come on here to sing their praises! Not only was our condo comfortable, convenient and gorgeous with stunning views, but the staff was helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Next time we venture from our typical hotel vacation and opt for a condo, Ali'i will most definitely be our 1st choice!

Yelp
We are so happy that we found Kaanapali Alii for our first time visiting Maui! It was an easy drive from the airport and a great location for visiting different places around Maui. The condo we stayed in was decorated beautifully and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so nice to have a fully functioning kitchen for breakfast and lunches. The condo was big and we never felt like we were on top of each other as a family of five. Beach towels are provided by the resort with a system to make sure you return them. Beach chairs are also provided and set up for you and umbrellas are available to rent for $60/day. The pool never felt crowded and the beach is a short walk out of the resort and was also never crowded. We saw complaints about no restaurants at the resort but that was the least of our worries as you are a short walk from Whaler's Village. We will definitely be returning and staying at Kaanapali Alii next time we visit Maui!

Yelp
Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I paid for a full ocean view room and was given a room with a worse view than family members who paid for partial ocean view. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they offered to either move me or refund the upgrade. I chose the refund. At checkout, no one had any record of the refund agreement. I had to explain everything again, only to be told it was a "he said, she said" situation--implying I was lying. Completely unacceptable. When I followed up again by phone, I was told they should never have booked me a 1-bedroom full ocean view because that room type doesn't even exist--they only offer full ocean views in 2-bedroom units. So not only did they take my money under false pretenses, they also refused to refund it after acknowledging their mistake. Disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional from start to finish. I'm shocked at how poorly this was handled, and even more upset by the insinuation that I wasn't being truthful. I will not be returning.

Yelp
This luxury condo resort was an amazing place to stay in Hawaii. The rooms are large and decorated beautiful. There is easy access from the rooms to both the pool and beach in just a few steps. The views are breathtaking and the staff has been very kind. Only thing to note staying here is there no restaurant and bar. We will be coming back!

Yelp
The Kaanapali Alii is a fantastic find on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This condo rental location has been in Maui for over 40 years and the 4 major buildings are a testament to good taste, quality construction and awesome units. The rooms are huge. 1500 square feet for a the one bedroom and each unit is decorated very well. An awesome find and literally is far better than the surrounding Hotels, the Westin, the Marriott, and the Hyatt. The staff is great, the pool private and the parking right next to the rooms. Great for romance, great for kids, great for parties. Not cheap. Over $800 a night depending on size. Stay here once, you'll come back.

Yelp
We own a condo at the Kaanapali Alii. We rent it out thru the Hotel. We're required to keep our unit in excellent condition to keep it in the rental pool. Since the fire in Lahaina we haven't had any rentals.

Yelp
I have stayed here four different times and it is a lovely place to stay on Maui. Good location. Beautiful accommodations. Fair price.

Yelp
We barely got a place to stay when we were coming to Hawaii due to the fact we waited to the last minute. This location was selected. I would say it's dated but doable. It's a older place. Upon entering, it didn't smell too good so we brought lysol and febreze and sprayed all fabrics down. That fixed the closed in smell. The laundry room had a mildew smell that we couldnt figure out. The living area space was big, tt had 2 sides each with its own bedroom and bathroom. Theu have a living room, dining room and a little den area for someone to close off and sleep. The patio was spacious (no pic) and we enjoyed sitting out there watching the pool and beach area. The best view to watch the sunrise and set. Make sure to get ocean view, it's worth it. Be sure to check the back of the wifi router in your unit to make sure it matches the wifi login that the front desk provides. The pool area is nice. They have a area off the pool where you can grill and watch 2 big screen tvs with couches and chairs. You can go down around 7:45am and have a beach Cabana held for the day. The concierge lady was nice. I recommend booking your tours in advance. The cleaning lady was good and accommodating. There aren't any on-site restaurants however to the left of the pool there's the marriot for dining and to the right is the westin and whalers village. Overall our stay was good. We'd come back. Hope you enjoy

Yelp
FIX THE BEACH SIDEWALK. It's been 2 years and the Alii has not invested in their property. It's become an inconvenience to all travelers in the area.

Yelp
It is open! Not only that, it is an amazing property in a fabulous location. Family friendly, no bar or restaurant on site but a 5 minute walk to Whalers Village and other hotels with restaurants and shops. Quiet and the units are huge compared to normal hotels.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Aside from not being able to check in until a couple hours past check in time this place was great! Best part being that it's walking distance to whaler's village and there's a grill master by the pool around dinner who will grill any meat you bring him. There are also beach and pool toys you can borrow from the pool house.

Yelp
Great Location, very well maintained and clean room/ apartment. A minute walk from the beach front. Temperature maintained swimming pool and hot tub. Will suggest people to take the rooms on 9th, 10th or 11th floor to enjoy best beach view and sunset view from their room.

Yelp
There is no beach. The pictures are a false representation. The beach has eroded and there is literally no beach. The sidewalk is washed away. About 5-10 palm trees have fallen into the ocean. You have to walk 25 minutes to black rock to find a beach you can use. They did not tell us this before we paid our 40,000 non-refundable payment. When we checked in they said; "by the way we don't have a beach anymore!!! We've tried to reach the general manager, mark Altier, to at least talk to him about it, but the front desk said they can't give us his information. After multiple search attempts we were able to find his email and sent him a message 5 days ago and haven't received a response. The maintenance of the units has declined. We had a broken refrigerator and broken toilet when we checked in the had to wait for maintenance to come back 4-5 times to fix these things. We used to be able to play tennis at night but they took down the lights so now you have to play during the day when it's much hotter. We are beach people and would use the Alii's cabanas on the beach 6 hours every day. Now we have to drag 3 umbrellas, chairs, blankets, towels, cooler, kids etc on a car ride to set up at a beach somewhere else. We could have stayed somewhere else had they told us the the situation here. There was a big storm here in July this year and wiped out the whole beach. They had us pay the rest of our funds in august so they already knew the situation and never contacted us. Just took our 40,000 dollars. We've been coming here since 2007 and we will never stay here again.

Yelp
I stayed at Kaanapali Alii in the past many times and we had great customer service, we loved our condo and the beach was amazing. BUT Kaanapali Alii September 2022 was a whole different experience for my family and I. I booked our family vacation a year in advance at Alii ,with the expectations of our previous vacation. We were promised a two bedroom plus a den Condo a year ago and it was promised again 30 days before paying the final amount for the condo. I went to check in and the host said we will only have a two bedroom with a couch bed. I made it clear to her we booked a year in advance and was promised the den. She said we don't guarantee the den, which if I knew that in advance I wouldn't had booked with Alii. I told the host booking was very misleading. She said she was sorry but they couldn't help us with the den because everything was already fully booked, Which was a lie because 20 minutes later she took us to a two bedroom with a den and told us we would have to pay $200 extra a night if we wanted to stay in it. BS!! so we had no choice but to stay in the two bedroom with a "couch bed" I put the quotes over couch bed because it wasn't a couch bed it was just a normal couch. The host said she would bring us up a twin fold up rollaway bed which was uncomfortable and squeaky, also she mentioned she would let us have it for no extra charge LOL. The two bed condo was beautiful but the guest bathroom toilet kept on clogging and the laundry room smelled like sewage. At that point my husband and I were so disappointed at the fact that we spent so much money on a family trip and we're not getting what we were promised. Also, there is no beach sand front with cabanas and chairs, we had to walk 15 minutes from our hotel and rent chairs just to enjoy the water. My sister booked with Alii on the same day and was promised a two bedroom plus a den, and didn't get it either. Another issue I faced was when I booked a "couple's massage" for me and my daughter, which was supposed to be done by 2 female workers and in the same room, I was told 3hours before that it was going to be 1 male worker and 1 female worker doing the massage and in separate rooms. After hearing that I went to cancel the massage and the worker was very unprofessional and rude telling me in a very aggressive way that "she was a small business" and basically went off on me for trying to cancel.

Yelp
Great location. Wonderful staff..beautiful grounds. Our 2nd time staying at the Alii.. Asked for Ocean view or full Ocean view. We received a partial Ocean view but they changed our room on arrival to an ocean view. 1 bedrooms sometimes have a den converted to a bedroom. Same with the 2 bedrooms. Each are privately owned so checkout vrbo or call direct. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Community is very well kept... Wendy the concierge is very helpful... Close to Whalers Village, many restaurants and a great walking path along the beach...

Yelp
If you gave a bad review of the kaanapali Alii, I'm sorry. You probably didn't rent threw the actual Alii site, with one of the rooms they manage. Some rooms are managed by different, OFF SITE, management companies. The Alii has their own housekeepers, maintenance, and front office staff, pool staff too. Next time call the Alii, itself. The other OFF SITE management companies have some substandard rooms. The Alii makes sure their rooms are of quality!

Yelp
Perfect stay at the kaanapali Alii! Our condo 242 was very well equipped and very clean. The owner takes pride in keeping it designed like a home. The staff is amazing! Smiles and a warm aloha every time you see a staff member. Wonderful! Now, maybe the tourists could start smiling and feel the aloha spirit and be respectful to the staff. Our stay was perfection at the Alii!

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! Upon arrival, Venjie greeted us and helped unload our luggage and parked our car for us. After check in (you have to sign a waiver form that you will not use aerosol sunscreen in the room btw), Venjie took us around and showed us the property a bit. There are tennis courts and gym above the parking garage. There is also a concierge/rental equipments on the property as well. The hotel itself doesn't have any restaurants but there are grills by the pool (there's a Master Griller that comes every few days to help cook if you don't feel like cooking. All you have to do is provide the food). There are also plenty of restaurants along the walkway! Whalers Village is about a 5 min walk with plenty of shops and restaurants. The room we got was perfect! The room had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and laundry/dryer which was very convenient! Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room clean. I loved the fact that the beach was literally steps away. Black Rock is about a 15 min walk from the hotel and that's a great place to snorkel, cliff jump, or just relax. I highly recommend this place and definitely would not mind staying here again!

Yelp
I booked a two bedroom online, and amazingly enough when i open the door I had a 3 Bedroom Place! Pretty awesome! Our unit was 1103, super nice decorations high-end, especially the kitchen, it was so exciting to my wife and kids! The only thing I would ever change if i even have to pick one gripe, which is very difficult, Is that I wish the master bath had a soaking tub with all the walking around! But there is a Jacuzzi downstairs.

Yelp
Spent 5 days at this location for father's day, our 20th anniversary and our son's birthday. Mark GM is awful; he is noted in other reviews as well. Paid $1,100 a night, got stuck in an elevator for 2 hours and blamed me and my son for the episode. The emergency call button did not work (thank goodness I had my phone) and requested the elevator certification multiple times and they refused to provide it, especially in writing. HUMMM. Hawaii OSHA said they haven't had a request for an inspection in a long time. Not only that, but the Fire Department said they were just out at this location for the same situation less than 2mo prior. Zero compassion or compensation from this property, Mark never followed up to see how we were and never even expressed an apology. Sadly, when speaking to some of his staff about him their eyebrows raise in agreement but they can't say anything in fear of their employment. Want help from the front desk? HA! Like talking to a robot that doesn't know how to think outside the box and reads a templated script. Useless. Ironically while at the front desk, I watched 2 other guests become frustrated with the staff trying to re-key the cards and they even patronized the guests. Unreal. Plenty of other locations to stay on Ka'anapali. This place will treat you like turning a table in the restaurant knowing the next guests are around the corner and they will never see you again but they got your money!

Yelp
Three of us stayed in a unit I booked through VRBO. I wanted to know exactly what unit I would be in and what amenities it would have. I read the stories about booking through the Hyatt website and not knowing what type room you might get. Our unit 306 was fantastic. It was clean, updated, extremely spacious with a nice partial view of the ocean and a full view of the pool area from the shaded lanai. There was a king bed and a queen bed in two separate bedrooms. Each bedroom had its own full bathroom. There is a washer dryer and a sink in an alcove off the master bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked, the only thing missing is a coffee grinder. The grounds are immaculate, with two decent sized pools and two hot tubs, one supposedly adults only. There are a lot of covered and uncovered lounge chairs around the pools, at no charge. It's the usual get down there when the pool opens to stake your spot(s) thing. There are four gas grills and quite a few tables next to the pool area. There were a lot of people grilling starting at around 5pm, it got crowded. The beautiful beach is right outside the pool area, chairs are available for free. Umbrellas for the chairs and big wooden covered lounge chairs are available to rent on the beach. My son and I spent hours boogie boarding, swimming and body surfing. There were plenty of surfers catching the gentle waves- perfect for beginner to novice level. Whalers Village is a 5 minute walk away. There is no grocery store. There is no restaurant or bar on property. As one person said it's why there's no drunken or overly loud partying or behavior. Kaanapali Ali'i isn't cheap. But it's very worth it.

Carlos R.

Yelp
We were a large group of 9 in two rooms so we, unknowingly against the hotels parking policy, rented a hi-top 12 passenger van. The security staff went out of their way to accommodate us. AJ, Charles, and Shiloh were a TREMENDOUS help and really went out of their way to help us park it every day. The whole staff was very friendly and helpful! Our rooms were clean and decorated with comfortable bedding and accessories. No question we are staying here for our future trips. Oh by the way try to get reservations to the Luau next door at the Westin ... that hotel can't compare to this one but that show was a true experience that was well worth the money.

Yelp
Just back from Maui and this place is really awesome. We rented a two bedroom ocean front condo and we were not disappointed. Check in was easy and quick. The room was big. I'm guessing the condo was probably 1,500 plus square feet - which is totally great when you're spending a week. And the interior was modern and super clean. Awesome ocean location and views. Total homerun. Very close to Whalers village, restaurants, excursions etc. Other policy I totally liked is the "towel on chairs". Sign clearly says that inactive use will result in loss of chair. It never happened when we were there - but the "wake up early and put fake things on the chairs" is really lame. And I'm glad this place has taken proactive steps to stem it. Super slight changes that would make this place over the top: 1. It would be awesome to have some food or beverage options on location. Like a simple burger or beer. I can't imagine this doesn't make economic sense. I'm not talking a full menu - super selective. But a cold beer by the pool, who could resist. So we just brought our own. 2. The pool is ample, but not huge and gets crowded at peak times. Having a separate splash area would be awesome. Like little fountains and all. Pro tip -book through Costco and save a bunch.

Yelp
We've been staying here for years and love it because of the great staff and beachfront location. The pictures in the advertising are, or were, accurate. But when we got here in early October we found that the large beach directly in front of the buildings was literally gone, washed away by an exceptionally strong south swell that pushed the sand down the beach towards the Sheraton at Black Rock. The beachwalk in front of the Alii was also undermined, causing it to collapse along with more than a dozen palm trees. Probably 5 vertical feet of beach was lost. (Much of the beach next door at the Westin was also washed away, and beach access was limited.) No one, not even the long term staff, had ever seen anything like this. So the beach chairs and cabanas that we had so often used in prior visits were unavailable. Before we left the swell had subsided and the beach had started to return, though it was a small fraction of its earlier size. (You can see it if you look closely from the Sheraton Maui beach cam.). But the beachwalk is probably never going to be rebuilt and it will take a take months for the beach to regain its prior height, if it ever does. Sad, but this is apparently what nature has in store for us. Potential guests should be warned. As per usual, the staff was quite friendly and helpful, doing the best they could under difficult circumstances.

Yelp
my experience: it was the first time my family was staying in maui and we asked our friends where we should stay. most people recommended all the hotels in the area but specifically this palce because you had your own space and it was more like an apartment than a hotel (so lovely!) when we first stopped by here it was about afternoon because we stopped at costco beforehand to stock up on food. anyways, they had a small little check in area and helped get everything out of the car and into our room while we checked in (they even parked the car for us!) once we checked in we went to our room and there was a worker helping us. i was SHOCKED when i stepped into the room because my mom didn't tell me what she booked. basically, right when you walk in you see the kitchen and the living room, to the right theres an open bedroom and bathroom that doesnt have doors and goes straight to the living room (my cousin stayed there) to the left, there was a door to a closet that connects to another bathroom and another door to the master bed. overall, this place is great for families and they check up on you for anything you need. since it has a kitchen and fridge, you can cook! best part - there's also a laundry machine to wash any of your clothes after the beach and a little balcony. the only downside we had to this was that it was raining most of our time but i will attach some beautiful pictures of our stay below of the resort! you can take out 6 towels per room at once and there's a hot tub, gym and pool. super lovely and hope you stay here as well! price: it was $900 a night

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to stay on the west side of Maui this place is a really great compromise between the amenities of the resorts and the economy, space, and independence of the condos. There's a cleaning staff, helpful bellhops to get your stuff to your room and get you situated, a pool, a nice fitness center; but there are no resort fees, no parking, and you can be relatively independent without feeling nickel-and-dimed. To be sure, you can't have everything. Some of the ocean-view rooms still can't *hear* the ocean because of the water features in the swimming pool; the pool is cold in December; it's not seamless to order food if you're feeling too lazy to talk to the Hula Grill or the Barefoot Bar. But it's still basically paradise, and I would be very very happy to come back. Or even to live here.

Yelp
We arrived today after flying for almost 12 hours. We were greeted by name by Chris who unloaded our car and told us to check in. Diana was amazing at the lobby. Provided extra care and welcomed us as family. Chris then showed us our room. It's so beautiful. The furnishings are elegant, inviting and warm. Chris unloaded our groceries ensured the TV and WiFi worked and showed us around the spacious condo. We have a one bedroom with a den and a partial ocean view. Our lanai seats 6 and it's very relaxing. We have two spacious bathrooms and beautiful windows. This resort is beyond amazing. We own at both adjacent resorts. But truly this is "home". Thank you all for this experience

I've stayed in plenty of condominium resorts on maui, and this one blends pristine grounds with a homey feel and top notch amenities. It is expensive and its worth it. From the reception at check in we were treated gracefully- our huge lot of bags and groceries filled up the trunk of our rental. They were In our apartment by the time we went up after registering. This is a place where u can not only be pampered but also spread out... in peace & quiet. The westin next door is gorgeous. Everything one envisions a Hawaiian luxury resort to be. Its lavish and very well appointed with restaurants and shops- but there's a storm of people there every time i look. If u can afford $400 a night stay here. It is worth it. The spacious and pristine condos, lovely pool complex (sans flamingos) and first rate gym are all well on par with a 4.5 star hotel such as a luxury collection one. The prompt service, that can be likened to a down the road b&b, makes it truly unique.

Yelp
Our first time to Hawaii and this place was amazing. Not only was the suite amazing, well-kept, and modern. The place itself is located along a popular section in which many other hotels are located. It has a nice pool area which we spent a lot of time at. Also there is an amazing grill area. In the evening if you bring a steak, fish, whatever, a on-staff grill master will help you out or even grill it for you. They have all the necessary tools and condiments so you don't have to go to the store and purchase it yourself. Definitely would come back here again.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed in a beautifully- appointed condo (#342) with partial ocean and Mountain View's. From check-in to check out, the Alii was perfect. Front desk staff and the young man who assisted with luggage (Lester), the towel staff and concierge were all so friendly and helpful. Restaurants and Starbucks were within easy walking distance. While the pool is small, it is heated, sparkling clean and has lots of choices for shade or sun. Barbecue area with ample seating and paper goods was a bonus. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Evidently this is a condo resort. Each condo is privately owned and some are managed by the resort. We were fortunate to have rented unit 263 in bldg 2. It was a two bedroom suite that slept six. Both bedrooms have master bathrooms. Although we had a full kitchen we were able to grill on the resorts gas grills by he pool. They provide paper plates, knives, forks etc. There isn't a restaurant or bar on the premises but whalers village is a five minute walk from the resort. Nice quite place. I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Aloha!!! They have a beautiful beach. And they are located not far from Lahania. The beach was amazing along with the grills by the pool. On the beach, just in front of the resort is without coral and great for swimming. Lawn chairs are free for guests and someone will bring them. Mahalo.

Yelp
My travel agent reserved this place for us and I'm absolutely thrilled she did. It was such a wonderful experience! Our accommodations were wonderful. I love that you can adjust the temperature to each room. It was a quiet space, as well. The staff there is amazing! They are all so friendly and helpful. I loved the pool, the hot tub, the fitness center, the massage service (thanks, April!), the view from our patio, and how well-kept the grounds were. I loved that we could watch the sunset from either our porch or the beach. I'm so happy I asked for an ocean view. It would be nice to have access to weights in our room. That is my only issue. Maybe rent them out or something? They don't have wifi in the fitness center and I utilize videos on my Kindle. It just so happened I ran out of data. Oops! Luckily I have a gracious daughter who let me borrow her phone. The fitness center is very popular and crowded at times. It would be nice to have options. The staff made a recommendation for a hike. We really enjoyed it. The staff was also very accommodating when we checked out. We were unable to have late checkout but they did allow us to utilize the fitness center to clean up since we wanted to enjoy one more full day of the beach prior to heading to the airport for our late evening flight. A trip to Kaanapali Ali'i will definitely be in our future. I won't stay anywhere else.

Yelp
I was going to give 2 stars, but perhaps I am just a "tough grader" - so I gave it 3 stars. First. - a review of the resort. Location is excellent, although we would have liked to been given a heads up about the beach destruction that occurred 3 months before our arrival. The resort does not have the same luxury resort feel as most of the nearby places. The children's pool had toddlers in it most of the time and was the right size for them. The other pool is more of a dipping pool - quite small for the adult pool. lots of pretty plants in pool area make it look nice. Check-in was okay, but we couldn't even get a cart to load up our luggage, so we took it upstairs in 2 shifts. The unit we rented was tired looking. it was also noisy. The second bedroom is not what we would call a bedroom. it was a small room off the living room and no closet nor window. Looks like slider doors were added to convert it to a bedroom. Flooring, decor, and kitchen very dated and did not have a "clean and fresh" look. Our balcony faced the mountain so the sun was in our face in the morning. the balcony was nice for a glass of wine after a day of golfing, whale watching, hiking, or snorkeling. Overall, I would not stay here again and would recommend anyone staying at this resort to check out specific unit very closely before renting.

Yelp
Really nice condos that a family can spread out and relax in. Clean and great location. The pool isn't much and no dining options are a bummer. I recommend it, just know what to expect.

Yelp
Overall, my family and I had a great experience staying at the Alii. The Alii is essentially beach condos with resort-like amenities. We stayed 8 nights in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo with a mountain view (although from the lanai we had a glimpse of the ocean). The condo was well-appointed, spacious, and had all of the amenities we needed (washer/dryer with soap, coffee/tea, kitchen stocked with flatware, cutlery, pots/pans, dishwasher). Housekeeping was prompt and provided great service. The only drawbacks were that the DVD player was broken and the wifi in the room cut in and out constantly. The resort offers a gym (I went twice and was impressed. Although it's on the small side, they have a lot of equipment), tennis courts, an activity center (you can buy snacks or check out DVDs for free), pools/spas, and BBQs (they provide everything--tools, seasoning--just show up with whatever you want to grill). There is no restaurant or bar on the property, but you're a stone's throw from Whaler's Village, or you could walk along the beach sidewalk to go to the other hotels (Marriott, Hyatt Regency, The Westin, The Sheraton). The pools were nothing to write home about, but you don't stay at the Alii for the pools. There are plenty of lounges available, although the ones with the covers and under palm trees get taken early, so you may be stuck in the sun if you get there after 11am or so. There is a "quiet pool" but a lot of parents don't care and let their obnoxious, loud children splash around there anyway. There is a covered lanai with TVs, water, restrooms, and a place to pick up towels and chair covers. If you want a seat on the beach, just ask one of the pool staff to get you set up. You are steps away from the ocean! They also have showers available so you can rinse off the sand and ocean water before dipping into the pool. Self-parking was a breeze, even though it was spring break and there were a lot of people staying there. Upon arrival, they do have staff who unload your bags and groceries and parks your car for you. I would be happy to stay at the Alii again!

Yelp
Luxurious Family Friendly Condominiums!!! The Kaanapalii Alii is an upscale resort like condominium complex on one of the best beaches in the world. The condominiums are nicely put together - the unit we are currently in has been excellently remodeled. There is a pool and hot tub if lounge chairs on the beach isn't your thing. They do an excellent job adding luxurious touches: Gym, Yoga Classes, Tennis Courts, Golf, A Grill Master (if you need help with the BBQ), Towel Service, Beach Chairs and Lounges, DVD Borrowing, Full Concierge, Spa Services ... Basically everything you would get in a luxurious hotel. I could not recommend this property more!!!

Yelp
This is our favorite place to stay on Maui. It is perfect for our family of four. For us, fitting four people (two teens) into a traditional hotel room is not a comfortable option. These units are spacious and all come with full well equipped kitchens, laundry machines as well as comfortable bedrooms, Family rooms and dining areas. The location itself is ideal. You are right on Ka'anapali beach and a short walk to Whaler's village, yet you are away from the crowds and madness you get on the beach in front of the Sheraton by Black Rock. There is also a little surf break in front of the Alii that is perfect for long boarding or SUP surfing and there is a space to store your boards right next to the pool. Most of the staff, especially Manny, have been there for along time and they all make you feel at home. The pool here is mellow and if you are looking for water slides, lazy rivers, pirate ships etc. you should go elsewhere. Great outdoor grilling space next to the pool.

Yelp
The best staff I've ever encountered!! They were so polite and I hope they get a raise. Manny and another worker at 7:45 3/6/22 he was so amazing helped my family fill up our pool toys and was kind to all of us! Thank you and your staff for a great night.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to spend a week at in paradise. From the plush condos to the awesome grounds and the amazing staff, I really can't say anything more other than you must stay here if you're traveling to Maui! You will not regret it! I stayed here in June 2012 w/ my boyfriend and his family. We had a huge party (14 people) so we rented 3 ocean view 2 bedroom condos for a week. Each room came with a full-sized kitchen, washer & dryer, 2 bathrooms, 1 bedroom w/ a king bed, and another bedroom with 2 queen beds. There's also a pull-out couch in the living room for all 3 rooms we got. For the price (about $750 per night, per condo), you really get your money's worth with the amenities. The location is also very convenient since It's within walking distance to Whaler's Village, Black Rock, and not to mention the world-famous Kaanapali Beach. The property is on the beach, so the walk will literally take about 20 seconds unless you're like me and you take pictures every day of the grounds since it's so gorgeous haha. Plenty of parking, the pool is beautiful, and it's a few minutes away from downtown Lahaina. I cant wait to visit Maui again and will definitely stay at the Alii next time i do!

Yelp
From the moment we arrived I felt at ease. Sure, just being on Maui has a calming and euphoric effect, but the staff and amenities at the Kaanapali Ali'i magnified this beyond expectation. Once in our very spacious condo, I was immediately very impressed with the decor and the overall tropical vibe. Each unit is done in its own style, and our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, was nicely appointed, with all updated appliances, including an induction top range and wine fridge. Everything had a modern take on traditional, tropical style living. (Side note, the shower in the master bedroom area was amazing! I want to remodel our bath at home now!) We traveled with a large group and had a total of 4 units. Each was different, but still nicely appointed. (A little pro tip: all of our units featured a "den" which was in each case, actually a separate bedroom and attached bathroom. So if you book a 1 bedroom, chances are you will be pleasantly surprised with the additional room.) Stunning ocean views from every window, it was amazing to just leave them open at night and awaken to the gleam of the newborn sun and the soft rhythmic, resonance of endless waves and melodic chirping birds. The staff was always very friendly and attentive. Our housekeeper, especially, made it a point that we leave everything to her and she kept the place cleaner than we keep our own home! Everywhere at the Alii there is some one ready and willing to help. From delivering groceries, to handing out towels, setting up beach chairs, and even engaging in light conversation, we were made to feel very welcome and respected. As others have mentioned, all that is missing is pool and beach side beverage service I would return here in a heartbeat. Or for a mere 3 million dollars... Maybe buy one of the units! Haha. Oh well. One can dream I suppose. Do yourself a favor and book your next stay here. It's totally worth it!

Yelp
I have reduced my four stars to three. The Alii is a beautiful resort but the upper quiet pool has turned into a 2nd children's pool. The only enforcement is to not allow floating tubes. Kids are splashing and tossing balls. Parents and grandparents have no respect for the "quiet" area. We maybe staying at the Marriott from now on.

Yelp
Partial ocean view means the other part is the garbage area and parking garage. Don't be fooled to pay extra. No view of the ocean is worth hearing garbage trucks and laundry service coming by at 10:30pm each night. Other than the size of the room, I don't have a lot of positive things to say about staying here. This is our 4th time visiting Maui and this has to be the worst experience. We'll stick with the Fairmont in Wailea and skip Kaanapali and the Ali.

Yelp
For the amount we pay to stay here, the level of disrespect from the front desk (simply to get towels) is appalling. Not to mention locking out residences and not allowing them back into their condo and receiving attitude from the workers claiming the doors are unlocked, when in fact are not. Thankfully other guest unlock them for you front the inside. Don't bother going to the pool and playing music quietly to yourself because some workers complain. Also, the pool is open until 10pm, so don't be fooled when a worker wants to go home early and flips the sign to make it say 9pm when you aren't looking. Want to go to the gym? Make sure you call "security" to let you in, if not just ask the bellhop guy because it's the same person. If they want to pay for our condo please do, then you can tell me the "rules" you make up. As residence who pay HOAs we should not be treated with such misery.
