Comfortable small rooms with boho decor. The shared showers and toilets are clean and the instructions are clear for the electric hot water. Well equipped kitchen but only available 6am to 8pm, and I would have liked to access the kettle outside of those hours. Raoul the dog was friendly to me but not men, and barked intermittently as people came and went. Breakfast was awesome and we loved the decor and courtyard. Helpful reception staff.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I stayed at The Helling Dog Hostel in Lima for a whole month, and the experience ended in the worst way possible. Right after I checked out, they kicked me out immediately and didn’t even let me leave my bags in storage without extra payment. When my friends and I did pay to leave our bags, the entire staff looked at us with disgust, giving us dirty looks like we were doing something wrong. Before we left, one of the staff members started searching for “damaged” dishes in the kitchen and tried to blame us for it, even though we hadn’t used them at all — then she tried to force us to pay for it. There’s no place in the hostel where you can sit and relax without the staff staring at you the whole time. The atmosphere is uncomfortable and unwelcoming. They try to squeeze money out of you in every possible way. On our last day, we explained that we had a night bus and just needed to stay in the hostel until then — their response was basically: “We don’t care. You can’t even leave your bags here. Either pay for another night or wait on the street with your stuff.” To sum it up: this hostel has the rudest, most unpleasant, and most unhelpful staff I’ve encountered in all my years of traveling. Avoid this place at all costs.

Kaclla was "home" during my time in Lima. First I started in a private room, very nice to rest after some days on the road. On a second opportunity, I went to the shared dorms which were also very convenient. The common area is well organized and clean. The same goes for the bathroom and kitchen. Breakfast offered is delicious and totally worth it. They can support you with basically everything you need. Airport transfer is highly recommended! Only 20 soles for door to door service. It is perfectly located. Near enough from central Miraflores square and far from street noise and rush. You can walk up and down everywhere. Grateful for the joyful time staying here.

Gorgeous in appearance, lacking in personality. My girlfriend and I were greeted rudely at the front desk when we asked if they spoke English. It would have been no problem if not , but we received a blank stare and no answer instead. Treatment like this continued for every other interaction we had. This would otherwise be a five star review for location and design alone. This isn’t the only review of its type. If you really wanna relax think twice.

I've been traveling for long time, but I never had such a delicious, nutritious breakfast included! Besides that, the location is excellent! I stayed in one of the shared dorms in the other building, which has a kitchen and a cute rooftop. The only little downside is the street noise.

Decent hostel for the price; rooms are fine, breakfast is good, and the common areas are cozy. Still, a few things put me off: - Staff (except the kitchen) aren’t very friendly - The “healing” dog isn’t exactly chill; barks, growls, and seems a bit aggressive - Dorms sometimes smell like pee (probably the dog) - Mattress was a bit worn out Biggest issue: even as a guest, they charge $5 USD per person to store your bags for just an afternoon. Doesn’t feel very guest-friendly in my opinion…

Good-looking interior and house, there's no doubt about it. Though, received impolitely, after my bankcard's chip didn't work I had to sort out Western Union. But was nearly asked to leave because they needed payment in five minutes. That is not my kind of reception. As such, maybe find a better receptionist. As if talking to a toddler and generally not a very welcoming environment except for a few kind travelers I met. Would not recommend if you value not being micromanaged in a hostel without not understanding hostel rules, that's beyond the point. General politeness is what I'm talking about. Oh and the dog, though the place carries 'healing' in its name, that of dog doesn't allow for much healing. Learn to improve. Thanks!
