A quick guide to Penang’s street food - SilverKris

"A theatrical take on char koay teow, this charcoal-fired wok dish tosses supple prawns, cockles, scrambled egg, crunchy bean sprouts, fishcake and Chinese chives with sambal belacan and lard, producing smoky, umami-rich noodles. The experience includes watching the boss lady—famous for her red beret and safety goggles—attack the wok as charcoal sparks fly; expect about an hour’s wait for this show-and-food pairing." - SilverKris

The shrimps is big, tastes normal. Price consider above average. You can order opposite shop food to eat inside.

Just a novelty with ahma in red samsui woman cap frying kway teow. Don't find it tasty, as there are no cockles and I'm still a fan of the black kway teow. Staff were also not very friendly, as with many of the F&B establishments, not sure why. Only highlight was that the prawns were huge and quite fresh.

I don't mind the hot environment.. the busy shop. But the food is important, and it's horrible. Ordered 2 chow kuay tiao, one spicy one not spicy for my child. The spicy one can clearly see it swimming in red oil. There is no cockles and the kuchai is not even cooked, still raw. Only redeeming factor is the big prawn. After eating it felt like vomiting from the excess oil. The nonspicy one is.... Spicy. For young children it matters a lot. It is also slightly burnt, can taste the burnt kuay teow. I'm sadden by this horrible restaurant. Do not come. And it's not cheap, rm13 per plate.

Came here to try this stall CKT. For me taste wise is acceptable, good for a plate of CKT, but hub doesn’t like the strong salty taste in the food. We both think it is over priced for a normal plate like this cost rm13. There are many other as good but lower.

overrated af !! I really don’t get the hype. RM13 for a plate of greasy, tasteless Char Koay Teow? Not worth it at all. The noodles were drenched in oil, making every bite unpleasant. As a Penangite, I’ve eaten plenty of Char Koay Teow, and this is easily one of the worst. No wok hei, no flavor—just oily and bland.

A plate of fried kway teow for 13 Ringgit! The taste is decent, but the portion is very small... Although the prawns are big, they don't feel fresh. The dishes are all washed on the ground next to the drain. This is the first and also the last time I will visit.

Really delicious char kuey teow! While most people seem to indicate that the food is overpriced, they do provide 2 large prawns for every standard portion at RM13. Add on additional 2 prawns (total of 4) and the price goes up to RM16. Quite reasonable if you ask me. Unfortunately no cockles. Cash terms only, not even e wallet accepted. Don't expect much in terms of ambiance and friendliness. Limited parking in the area.
