When traveling, I often try to choose places to eat according to the following criteria: 1. It does not have to be a place in the heart of a tourist center 2. This place may be without a modern design. There are not many dishes on the menu . 3. This place is frequented by locals. The cafe I visited today was great. The catch of the day and the fish soup were very tasty .

After going to Flyover Iceland popped into Kaffivagninn for Fish and Chips. A lovely relaxed place with a small menu, so you know it’s all fresh. Service was quick and the food was piping hot and delicious, the owner takes the time to speak to all his guests, which was a lovely touch.

FAVORITE BREAKFAST in Reykjavik! This spot is located by the harbor and it's SO NiCE! The best breakfast I've had during my stay in Iceland. Homecooked Vibes and the restaurant itself is Super-Cozy! I came in another day and had THE BEST Fish and Chips! Haddock I believe?🧐🐟 The staff is friendly and the whole place just rocks! Takk Fyrir!!! -Nico

Tucked away in the harbor and away from the crowds, great spot for a beer. Good looking food though our fish and chips was not the best flavor. Prices are reasonable and outdoor atmosphere was relaxing on this sunny day.

A brilliant place to eat,drink coffee or alcohol. Has a fair size area inside with a few tables sea side at the wharf which looks over all sorts of boats and ships. I ordered a scramble egg and bacon meal. Wow soo much american style bacon!! The scambled eggs were delicious too! Happy I dropped in. Highly recommend a visit or two.

We dropped in for coffee and cake as we strolled along Grandi. A great view over the harbour with prices very reasonable. Very enjoyable!

Great original to vist, been around for decades and is a favourite of the locals. By the Reykjavik harbour, great view. The service was a bit slow and seemed a bit chaotic; they could have been quicker in cleaning tables as a sample.

Went back after not having visited for a couple of years. Maybe I just got unlucky or the quality of the food has gone downhill. Ordered the fish stew, which used to be excellent there. It was served in a hot pan, but funny enough the stew itself was luke warm at best, there was so much cheese on top that it was kind of off putting, Í had to peel it off to get to the fish and left most of the cheese uneaten. The food had no taste at all, I found myself hurrying to find the salt and pepper shakers. Definitely not worth the amount of money they are charging for this, at almost 4000kr. That said the waitress was excellent.
