Very cozy little restaurant in the old town Stockholm. We got the 4-course tasting menu. The food was good but not impressive, some of them were a bit salty. The qualty was good for the price tho. Wine pairing was pretty decent.

A great small-plate restaurant with an open kitchen and tasting bar where you can speak with the chefs. The menu has a super nice selection of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes that can easily be shared across the table. 3-4 dishes per person (excluding dessert) should be filling. The staff is super attentive and nice, and the wine list has lots of interesting wines, including a whole section of orange wines. The food was — very good — but not great. Several of the dishes were significantly over-salted. The broth on the red king fish was thin (and way salty) and would have been better if dashi-based or just richer. Salt is often a way compensate for lack of complexity and flavor - not sure if this is intentional or just an execution issue…. That said, the bread and smoked butter lives up to all the hype. I think there are anise seeds in the bread - it’s really good w the butter!! Nonetheless, the food is enjoyable and the place has a really nice vibe. We would go back, but with slightly lower expectations.

Definitely a rising star in the Michelin scene and destined for greatness, Kagges gives you masterfully prepared dishes made from the finest Swedish ingredients money can buy. The restaurant itself can only be described as cosy but with an incredible buzz. It feels almost like a house party but with incredible gourmet dishes thrown into the mix. Sit up at the counter for a front seat view of the chefs in action. They also happen to be incredibly funny so I would definitely advise this. We took the chefs choice menu with the wine pairing which is good enough value for money however there is no dessert included in the four courses on offer. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. The chefs as mentioned before were great fun to watch and speak to displaying a true passion for their craft. Each course was explained to us in great detail outlining the ingredients and sources. However the wine pairing lacked this same attention and the wines / beer was given to us with no explanation or reason as to why they were chosen for that particular course. The food itself was exquisite. The smoked cabbage was mind bogglingly good. An incredibly creative dish which was a definite highlight. The final two course were good and the ingredients top quality however they did not wow as much as the cabbage. The flavours were pleasant but not as complex. All in all Kagges is definitely a must visit. This place is truly destined for greatness and cannot be missed

I loved how we could see the chefs in action as we awaited our meal. The smoked cabbage and pork were my favourite! The addition of the trout roe in the cabbage dish added a nice kick of flavour that was just incredible. I only wish the portion sizes would be a bit bigger, as the dishes were devoured in a matter of seconds. Overall, a really nice experience with top notch service 😊

I was not impressed with this place, probably wrong expectations. Let’s start with the service, unwelcoming and even “bothered” I’d dare to say. I felt sometimes some passive aggressive mood, maybe because it was a Sunday night. The place itself is extremely tiny, which might be cozy. But extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant when one can’t move the chair to get out of the seat, can’t turn around without hitting the neighbor and so on. Also, since I was sitting by the bar, the heat was absolutely unbearable. Food was really good, very very well presented and a very interesting mix. I tried the celeriac, beetroot, veal and venison dishes. Except from the veal, the rest were really good. But I left the place unhappy, like something was missing in this place, like really conveying love to what they do. Pity.

This place offers a unique concept of 4 surprise meals. The atmosphere was stylish and had a fine dining feel, with an open kitchen where you could see the chefs at work. The staff was very friendly and provided detailed explanations of each dish. Unfortunately, the taste of the food was a disaster and the portions were small. Additionally, the lack of ventilation made the restaurant feel stuffy and the smell of the food was overwhelming. The only thing I enjoyed was the smoked butter with bread, which was served as an appetizer.

These guys almost made me cry… I’ve done a lot of restaurants. But the combination of pure ingredients with masterful skill made the difference. They make tastes that have long been forgotten. Go there before they get their stars. Awesome in every dish!

I went to Kagges for dinner on a whim - and realised that I was lucky to get a table on short notice. The food is delicious with surprising and complex flavours. Two examples stand out in particular: the bread with smoked butter which was like eating the smoothest peaty Scottish whisky I've ever had; and the duck with a puree of delicate celeriac topped with tasty gravy. The best part was to see the staff in the kitchen and serving: the place has great staff who care about making delectable food that's served and presented with care and pride.

Yelp
Similar to Lilla Ego in its fun and warm atmosphere with innovative food. We loved the smoked butter and bread and the fish dish with pickled cucumbers. It was unexpected and so tasty. Every dish was good but not super memorable other than those two. The other dishes was another white fish with zucchini and roasted corn and we also got peach and pork dish. The starters were the cabbage with cream and roe and the other was beans with hazelnuts and mushroom butter. We enjoyed our meal at Lilla Ego more and it was about the same price for our dinner and glasses of wine. We still recommend this place as the location is in the beautiful streets of Old Town and it was easier to get a reservation. Hot tip: visit Corner Club across the street for some delicious Mexican and South American inspired drinks before or after dinner. Downstairs is a beer bar and downstairs and in the back is the Flying Elk.

Yelp
Great mix of traditional and modern Scandinavian foods, some dishes really incredible, but some not as much. Despite being in Gamla Stan it's actually not a tourist trap! From the selection-of-4 menu (on the limited summer menu), the trademark smoked cabbage was really exceptional, as was the chicken liver mousse before it and the herring snack we'd ordered separately. The mackerel, smoked that morning, was also excellent, undoubtedly the tenderest smoked mackerel I've ever had. But the beans and peas were too salty, and the guinea fowl was really nothing special. Dessert, chocolate bread pudding, was pretty good. My parents have also been to their Sillkafe across the street and prefer that option. But, it's closed for summer. So it goes.

Yelp
Very special restaurant. Looks like nothing fancy from the outside but wait until you try the food. Creative selection of Swedish inspired foods, with Scandinavian ingredients, presented beautifully and served with a smile. The cooks come out to serve and explain the dishes. This is "slow food" at its best. The complexity and creativity of the dishes are special. Bring time, bring friends, bring appetite, bring your credit card and indulge. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Yelp
If once a year I could give a restaurant a 6th star, this would surely be it! If you are able to get in (reservations can be made online and are HIGHLY recommended if you'd like to get in), I would suggest the counter. Watching the chef and 2 sous chefs work was like a front row seat to dinner and a show. The well choreographed dance was incredible to see. It was not only the food and drink, but the feel of this restaurant that made this one of the best culinary experiences I had in Sweden. I did make it to some of Kagges contemporaries, and none had the warmth that this spot had. It was classy without being pretentious, which is very tough to pull off. So much so that the owner is the chef, dishwasher, and entertains the guests as he cooks and looks after everything. You will not find many Michelin rated restaurants that offer 4 fairly large plates for around $55 USD. There are a few staples on the menu, namely the smoked cabbage. Absolutely incredible, unlike anything I've ever had. The menu changes daily so can't recommenced any specific dishes, as they will have a different menu, however you really can't go wrong. Truly!

Yelp
Very good food in a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere. Attentive service and good prices. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The service was amazing and also the wines. A really cozy restaurant in the old town in Stockholm. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. It was ok but nothing extra. We had really high expectations on the food, but the tastes didn't impress us.

Yelp
Possibly my (and my family's) favorite restaurant in the world. Small plates with inventive and amazing flavors and quality. Super small and intimate and the staff and chefs are so kind and chill. Love the food, love the setting, love the service. Go here for sure if you can get in. You will not regret it!

Yelp
Small restaurant in The Old Town in Stockholm. Serves small dishes (you need 3-4) og veg, fish and meat. The food and wine is excellent but the real stars is the staff. This is definitely one of my favorites in Stockholm.

Yelp
Ten stars! This is foodies paradise. Such fine cuisine, exceptional service and a cozy happy casual atmosphere. This was one of the best dinners au have ever eaten and would fly from Los Angeles to Stockholm just to eat here again. We have her chef tasting menu plus an additional course of perch. Each course was unique and delicious. I never had such combinations of flavors and tastes that delightfully burst into the most wonderful bites. We finished with the traditional Swedish berry soup that was sooooooo good. This is a very special dinner and not to be missed when in Stockholm. Plus we found it very reasonably priced. Thank you Kagges for a memorable dinner. For an extra special treat sit at the counter. We had the best time watching chef Doug and his team prepare. Fabulous experience!

Summer M.

Yelp
The Chef Douglas is very inviting and pays great attention to detail and quality. We had an amazing dinner and were sad when it ended. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. We hope to have one more dinner there before we head home. Simply outstanding

Yelp
Excellent excellent food. The owner is waiting tables, generally hustling and putting out interesting and delicious food. They don't rush you, will provide explanations in English and give you a cosy inviting experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever eaten. A great, casual environment with wonderful Swedish food. Eating here was a fabulous experience.

Allison S.

Yelp
We had a spectacular meal, exactly what we were hoping for, a truly Swedish meal that challenged our American tastebuds and left us ready to embrace Swedish cuisine. Plus, the service and staff were wonderful. You'll be fortunate to enjoy this small cozy restaurant.

Brendan M.

Yelp
Service was amazing. Food as well. Everyone was extremely accommodating and friendly. Dishes were Distinct Swedish with fresh flavours. Thank you all.

Yelp
Michelin star quality food in a casual environment. Loved it so much, my friends and I ate here 2 out of our 4 nights in Stockholm. One of the two owners waited on our table both nights and could not have been more charming. These two young men know what they're doing!
