The name of this sweets shop was suggested by the 20th-century Japanese novelist Tsutomu Minakami. Eating their signature dish, kuzukiri, is a ritual, starting from the visual admiration of the lacquered containers to the transferring kudzu noodles from the icy water to the black syrup pool, or kuromitsu, before finally feeling the smoothness of the treasured food down the throat.

I have never heard of kuzukiri before and it turned out to be one of the best things I've had in Japan. It's made of kudzu flour, shaped like noodles. I love the chewiness and overall texture of the "noodles". It's served cold alongside kuromitsu, Japanese black sugar syrup, a bit similar to molasses but thinner and milder. Such a refreshing summer delicacy

I decided to try their specialty, kuzukiri—noodles with syrup. Upon arrival, you're welcomed with cold tea and a mini sugar sweet. The noodles arrived in a stunning set of dishes, masterfully served on ice with a separate bowl of syrup—I chose the brown sugar syrup. It was an absolute discovery—silky, soft, cold noodles paired with the sweet syrup were incredible. The service was outstanding, and the café itself is beautiful, featuring tall ceilings and a full-height glass window overlooking a garden. An amazing confectionary shop! An incredible experience, highly recommended!

amazing experience and delicious traditional Japanese wagashi! Can’t recommend this place enough- the staff were so kind and professional, the service 10/10. I ordered the 「抹茶生菓子セット」 and it was just beautifully presented. After yiu sre seated, you are offered tea and a small dry wagashi made of sugar. After ordering, a staff member brought me the selection on wagashi sweets to choose from. I wanted to try every single one! The sweet itself was delicious and beautiful, an amazing smoothness and richness that beautiful complimented the hot matcha (one of the best I’ve had I might add!) Planning on coming back to experience this place again, thank you for the amazing experience

Delicious sweets! They have a sweets shop out front and a cafe at the back. As soon as you are seated, you are served tea which was delicious with some sweets. We then ordered the warabi mochi and the transparent noodles with brown sugar sauce - both were great and had the right amount of sweetness. The service was excellent.

One of famous Japanese traditional sweets/ tea store. Famous item, Kuzuri is delicious. There are lot of other sweets too. Tea room open at 10am, might have to wait when crowded. Serve Japanese tea unlimitedly with all the foods. Located in crowded Gion area.

Amazing tea shop. The matcha was delicious and the wagashi was top tier. Our server was very friendly, very professional and everything was served in less than 3 minutes. The interior is also very pretty and it gives me the feeling that if it were possible I would want to hang out there for hours.

Grabbed a couple of their matcha ice creams and honestly—they did not disappoint. Super photogenic (almost too pretty to eat), but more importantly, they actually tasted amazing. Rich matcha flavour, not too sweet, and all the little toppings added nice texture. Totally worth it if you’re in the area!
