Well, the first 85% went well. We booked a group wine tour where we visited three wineries and had lunch at the third. Our tour guide Anita was very friendly and accommodating, especially recognizing that we were the only two who didn’t speak Spanish (or Portuguese). The first winery (Salentein) is gorgeous and a must-see for any visitor. The second was good but not remarkable, and the third (Andeluna) had a fantastic view and good food.
The reason for 1 star is that on the way back (90 minute drive), one of the other guests had too much to drink and threw up in the front of the bus (we were in the front row). They pulled over and cleaned up (needed a mop on the inside of the bus), and we continued on down the road. About 10 min later the same person threw up again in the bus (this time on the inside of the door and window), at which point the bus stopped and cleaned up again. At this point we’re an hour away from our hotel, and I don’t want to be stuck in a bus with a person who has twice vomited inside the bus. I asked if the person could be left here and travel separately, but I got a firm “no.” The plan was to just keep driving toward Mendoza and stop whenever this guy needed to vomit, hopefully outside the bus this time. We decided enough was enough, got off the bus, leaving the drunk guy and the rest of the group, and paying a private driver 2,500 pesos to bring us back to our hotel.
Overall, the trip could have been nice but was ruined by one person not being able to behave well, and by the tour guide not intervening to ensure the comfort of the passengers.
