Unbelievable coconut shrimp and rice. The best we've had by far on our trip!!! Highly recommend if you're looking for incredible flavor.

Okay, North Shore shrimp tour complete, and I have a winner! The Famous Kahuku Shrimp's garlic butter shrimp is seriously next level. I hit up a bunch of spots, some were decent but this place just nailed it. Perfectly cooked, super fresh shrimp and amazing flavor! I practically inhaled it. No exaggeration, I've got this place on my bucket list every time we visit. Can't wait to come back!

The food was great! Especially the spicy shrimp, they use fresh ingredients. I also loved the steak, squid and coconut shrimp. They were huge pieces of shrimp.

PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE - SKIP Giovanni's !! Literally this whole trip I've been looking for the BEST garlic shrimp dish. We are staying at Waikiki, and i've tried many places near us, but did not like it AT ALL. While at the North Shore I stumbled upon this place, I wanted to try the bald guy, but he was closed. It was either this or Giovanni's. So I decided to try this place, I got their half-and-half plate, half garlic shrimp and half spicy garlic shrimp. I'll be honest with you, the shrimp was a little overcooked for my liking, it didn't have that "crunch". But oh my gosh, the sauce/ flavor was so unbelievably delicious like 11/10! So after I was done, I still wanted to try Giovanni's and see what the hype was about. I usually don't want to waste that much food, but honestly, it was not good whatsoever so I disposed it. Whoever said Giovanni's have the best garlic shrimp does not know good food!!! The only thing that was good was that their shrimp was not overcooked but as for FLAVOR- very very flavorless!! So my whole trip, trying and driving to multiple places needless to say, FAMOUS KAHUKU SHRIMP TRUCK TAKES THE WIN. It was so good that I went back today, and decided to drive an hour and 20 minutes away. I'll definitely miss this place once i return home. :( THANK YOU FOR FULFILLING MY GARLIC SHRIMP CRAVINGS!!

Okay I'm going to be honest, despite growing up on this island, I have actually never been to any of the iconic shrimp spots such as Giovanni's, Jenny's, Fumi's (RIP), etc. So, when I decided to go long a very long drive around the entire NE side of the island, Kahuku was on my list to hit. To preface, I really enjoy spice, so after hearing that Giovanni's spicy shrimp has a strong tabasco taste (which i personally do not enjoy) i went with the other option as they're in the same lot. In fact, if you are visiting the Kahuku Sugar Mills spot, there is A LOT of food truck options. There is also plenty of seating go to around, and all pretty self service from there. Note: Thankfully there's also a few porta-potty stalls in the lot as well, which is decently maintained and not like the horrendous ones i've experienced at some events. Also the view is nice, plus plenty of kitties around if you like cats it'd be a plus. Back to the food: - I ordered the spicy shrimp and steak mix plate. My expectations were honestly quite high and this was pretty disappointing. The shrimp was good, the garlic flavor could have definitely been stronger. My main complaint is the steak. I understand it is not its speciality, however it was super chewy and rubbery and not seasoned thoroughly imo. Just not enjoyable overall and downgraded the entire plate. If I had just gotten the shrimp it'd be a 7.8/10 but with the steak, 6.4/10. Not even close to something I would come back for, although I definitely need to try the other iconic spots to compare.

I was excited to bring Ohana to try as I haven't eaten any of the shrimp trucks in a long while. Shrimps were good and sweet; garlic sauce was good but a little too thick, strong and drenched all over rice as well as shrimp. I would recommend asking them not to put sauce on your rice so it's not overwhelming. Service ok

Wasn't sure what to expect, but the shrimp was superb. The Hot shrimp most especially. I also thought the coconut was good too. The coconut shrimp is sort of like a dessert but not really and goes super well with the more savory shrimp dishes like the garlic & hot shrimp. I dunno how to explain it. LOL

I made the long drive out here, and wow it was totally worth it! The shrimp is unbelievably fresh and packed with flavor. Garlic Shrimp was super delicious to the max. The sauce is buttery, garlicky perfection, coating each piece just right. Service as top-notch and it was fun. Friendly area.

If you are looking for a shrimp truck on island, I recommend stopping here. People are probably going to recommend Giovanni's in Haleiwa, but Kahuku Shrimp Truck is just as good if not better in my opinion and you will avoid an hour long wait. There are also several other food trucks here so if you want to sample a few different dishes it is easy to do that here.

The shrimp here was divine & heavenly, pure deliciousness! I liked the seating, even though it's just picnic tables they were surprisingly comfortable. The truck itself was also very cool looking

Fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the outdoor seating had a great vibe. I highly recommend trying the garlic butter shrimp, it's a must!

This really hit the spot! This shrimp is like trouble in that it's dangerously good! It was so delish that I was eating non-stop without any breaks in between. It should definitely be on everyone's bucket list to visit at least once during their Oahu vacation/trip~ ALOHA!

Came here with my boyfriend after being disappointed with another well known shrimp truck nearby's wait time and let me tell you this place did not disappoint us at all their Garlic Shrimp was SO MUCH BETTER! The order took a reasonable time to wait for not long at all! The garlic sauce was a major umami ono bomb (Especially with the rice is a cherry on top)! The prices were also really affordable and reasonable. 10/10 We would come again and the food totally makes up for the North Shore traffic. Must stop when you're in the area there are also other cool food-trucks/shopping around!

The Hot shrimp knocked my socks off! Super flavorful, juicy, and fresh. The garlic butter was delicious too, but the Hot shrimp stole the show. Perfect spot to enjoy some amazing seafood.

Had coconut shrimp and shrimp tempura and both were delicious. Served on a bit of lettuce with two scoops of rice.

The best shrimp we've had in our life! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon: parking was easy, plenty of benches for seating, and not a long wait. Both of our plates were finger-licking good.

I came back again on 1/15/25 and once again it was sooooo good. The only bad part was that it started raining so instead of eating outside we sat in the car and devoured our garlic shrimp!

I was on a mission go try as many garlic shrimp trucks as I can so of course I had to stop here. We arrived around 3pm and it was empty. There is a cute stray cat with kittens to the right of the order window which kept my kids entertained. What I swallowed: *GARLIC SHRIMP: I was excited to try this but not sure what is going on here. I did not like these one bit. Is that parm cheese on it? Whatever was on it was gooey (!!) and yucky. I thought it was gross and I was so disappointed. *COCONUT SHRIMP: These were tasty and crispy. I was still disappointed about my garlic shrimp that I was bummed I spent money on the garlic that I could have had a double order of coconut shrimp (only 5 or so came in the order). I was really bummed about the garlic shrimp experience here. I really wanted it to be a contender in the garlic shrimp mash up but it was a huge disappointment. The coconut shrimp was good here tho. Just bummed about the garlic.

Still my favorite shrimp truck in the north shore. Got half garlic butter and half hot shrimp. They charge an extra $2 to get half and half so total was $18. The hot shrimp has a good garlic butter taste to it with a nice heat. Garlic butter is exactly what it is. Always a solid choice. Came here around 10:45am and there was no wait. There's so many more places to eat here now. We just grab our shrimp and head behind Seven Brothers to Kahuku beer garden and enjoy our food with a nice cold drink.

Big props to my friend for choosing this spot. The food was amazing, especially the spicy shrimp it was bursting with flavor. The outdoor picnic style dining area was really nice and I loved being able to soak up the sun while enjoying the meal.

Trust me, you have to check this place out! I tried both the Garlic Shrimp and the Hot Shrimp, and while both were bursting with rich garlic flavor and super fresh, I found the Hot Shrimp to be a bit more impressive. It seemed to have more spices and ingredients, making it even more flavorful. And to top it off, I had a surprise dining companion-an adorable stray cat who joined me a little after I got may food, and very politely suggested he might want some of my shrimp! LOL

I didn't think shrimp could taste this good until I tried it here! The outdoor setup adds to the experience. It's the kind of meal that makes you stop and appreciate how good food can be. I'll be dreaming about this shrimp until I come back!

Ding ding ding ding!! Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner! In the hotly contested "best Garlic Shrimp" category my vote goes to Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck for their simple but excellent presentation of everyone's favorite North Shore lunch. Generous portion of shell-on shrimp in a super garlicky butter sauce, that doesn't have a hint of bitterness...which to me indicates a careful hand in the kitchen. We ordered one spicy (you can choose your level of spiciness...I went "medium") and one regular. The regular was the clear favorite. The spicy was delicious, and medium was pretty darn hot, but I would skip it next time and stick with the tried and true. Cash Only..service is fast, friendly and efficient. Plenty of picnic table seats make this a delicious and delightful stop ....and will have you driving right past Giovanni's without a second thought.

Conveniently located in the old kahuku mill shopping area with bathrooms, parking and outdoor covered seating. Served on a bed of cabbage and garlic sauce all over the rice. They now accept credit card. Dont forget to ask for mac salad. Thin strips of steak or shrimp fairly easy to peel Perfect meal while you go around north side

The food is always great! We've been coming here since 2009. The place changed alot but the famous Kahuku shrimp stays the same. The original and only food track in area used to be.

The Garlic shrimps were super duper delicious! We loved them so much that we ordered five more plates to take home! They had a lot of cool Hawaiian style juices/drinks too like the Guava juice. The seating area was also really nice, as it's a shaded dining area, making the experience even better.

Omg! This place is worth the hype. The shrimp was perfectly garlicky and buttery. My fingers might smell like garlic forever but it was absolutely worth it. The food was ready so quickly and still was so fresh and flavorful. 100% worth the trip to the north shore

I was craving some garlic shrimp on the way to the beach and seen this place along with other food trucks lemme just say SOO GOODD, the portion was good for me even had some left over and it was VERY flavorful, the rice even has some of the sauce on top the ladies working the trucks are also very nice, and they have plenty of seating area to enjoy,definitely going to be making the drive back from kapolei

We had an nice time dining here. The outdoor seating was beautiful, offering plenty of shade and creating a relaxed, casual, island vibe. The shrimp, along with the rice and cabbage, was absolutely delicious. My favs were the coconut and hot shrimp, while my friend was all about the garlic. We tried about five different dishes, and everything was super tasty, though the coconut and hot shrimp were definitely the standouts in my opinion. I'd definitely love to come back again!!

The food was delicious & the place has a lot of options. It's a food truck. Had a friendly cat I could pet & other food trucks for more options.

We're so happy we stopped by! The shrimp were incredibly delicious. They definitely gave off that perfect tropical vibe. We tried the Garlic Shrimp, and for seafood, it was a super reasonable price, especially considering what plate lunches usually cost these days. The setting was also really nice, with plenty of shade, picnic tables, and of course, the cute animals roaming around! I'd definitely be happy to return!

At first, I was a bit startled by the chickens wandering around, staring at you in hopes of getting some food. But after a while, I found them oddly endearing and pretty funny. As for the shrimp--phenomenal! The garlic shrimp, in particular, really hit the spot. I was craving something rich and flavorful, and it delivered perfectly!

Personally I like this place more than Giovanni's !! It is extremely flavorful /buttery & packed with garlic but the taste is better imo. It is slightly sweet but pairs really well with the garlic rice and or mac. They also give you a lot of shrimp so it's a great deal! The location is in an area with a lot of other food trucks and can be found near the smoothie/ taco. But keep in mind the ambiance does have a bit of a manure smell often times due to there being some chickens around.

This is where it's at! The shrimp were yummy as can be! I highly recommend the garlic and hot combination shrimp plate... it's a great way to sample both flavors. Goes well with the rice, the cabbage, and the mac salad...This meal is a true taste of the islands.

A MUST TRY! BEST SHRIMP EVER! The hot and spicy shrimp was absolutely divine, with a perfect harmony of flavors that complemented the cabbage and rice beautifully. The richness of the dish was indulgent, yet never overwhelming, leaving a thoroughly satisfying taste, leaving me wanting more. I also enjoyed the casual seating, which fostered a fun and inviting atmosphere, being outdoors with chickens freely roaming about. The rice portion was a bit too generous, so I found amusement in sharing the extra rice with the chickens, which added a charming and playful touch to the overall experience.

Spicy garlic shrimp were delicious! Wait time wasn't bad on a Sunday afternoon. Price was $16 and serving was plenty. Service was so so as we did try to order shrimp and steak but the person at the counter didn't seem to understand. Overall would recommend for the shrimp.

Ono!! After hang'in loose at turtle bay we drove over to a chill food truck stop. Not only was ordering fast we also didn't have to wait long to get our food (12ish no wait for order). People started to trickle in around 12:30-1pm and that's when the lines got longer. The shrimp was seasoned to perfection and the rice and red sauce were umami. Food ordered: -we asked if we could do a combo of garlic shrimp and tempura shrimp. The answer was YES :) 1.) garlic shrimp- wow the garlic sauce was delicious. The shrimp had its shell on it which I did not mind, but my husband preferred the shrimp to be unshelled. 2.) tempura shrimp- breaded correctly and seasoned well. It's tempura and it's delicious. Other: -cash and card taken -plenty of seating in the shade- ohana style (share the bench tables) -no bathrooms, but you may want to check the other food area across the way - it's best to have one person wait in one line for another food truck and the other for another food truck (divide and conquer) I definitely recommend eating here!

Right past Giovanni's is this shrimp truck with a whole bunch of other food trucks/stands which I think this place is farrrrr more superior. I've tried all of the shrimp trucks and this has been my go to on the north shore since I was a little kid. They douse their shrimp in that liquid gold and they're not shy about their garlic either. Plenty of seating and the wait is not long and they have restrooms too. Definitely give this place a try and avoid the tourist trap.

Was just ok. Shrimp were small and didn't seem as fresh as other spots or maybe the shrimp was a lil overcooked. The garlic flavor is solid but it's not enough to carry the shrimp. I've had Giovanni, Jenny's, and big wave and felt those were all better in my opinion.

Shrimp with entire shells on? Lots of steak but tough as nails. Mac salad really just noodle and mayo. Step it up please!

Short Ribs on the North Shore look no further !!!! These are the bomb ONG sooo flavorful sooo good with a side of tasty Japchae noodles. This is food truck but there is plenty of outside seating as there are several food trucks in the surrounding area so the space is all open.

Hella delicious. Solid meal with the garlic butta making errthing about this platter delicious. I ordered half-garlic shrimp and half-coconut shrimp (while my fam ordered at Giovanni's, lol). My order wins. Shoutout to the brotha on the truck who gave me shakas in my pic!!! Wish I saw it in the moment, but the joy I felt+feel from finally noticing the good vibes!! Such a personally fave pic for sure. Good vibes to y'all, Famous Kahuku Shrimp!!

Me and my husband's go to spot when it comes to garlic shrimp in kahuku, not anymore. I'll never be able to look at my plate the same ever again after seeing a ROACH ON MY FOOD. Glad I caught and not ate it. Please do better!!!!

Let's start with the service, the counter lady had the personality of a bull in a china shop! A total b$!?! I give this whole experience a solid 2. The shrimp had some kind of garlic goop on the very over cooked shrimp! The rice was really the best part of the meal, only if you pour the not so hot hot sauce on it gave it some flavor ...so if your going for a good shrimp truck eating experience just drive by this place and go to Giovanni's for the real deal garlic shrimp it's just down the road and will be well worth the drive! Everyone in our party thought they were going to toss there cookies within ten minutes of leaving the place!

The spicy shrimp was mid, husband says it wasn't spicy and he prefers Giovanni's. I however LOVED the coconut shrimp . I've been wanting coconut shrimp and that other shrimp truck doesn't have it. I was very satisfied!

We tried three dishes in total, and the garlic shrimp and spicy shrimp were truly the best shrimp I've ever had in my life! The coconut shrimp wasn't really my favorite though :/ If you're looking for something truly satisfying, I'd definitely recommend going for the garlic and hot shrimp. Would like to come back for the garlic and spicy shrimp.

It's always worth that ride to the North Shore for some great shrimp! The service is friendly and laid back. There could be a long line, but they're organized and quick. You can pay with either cash, card or tap-to-pay. Although the shaded, outdoor seating (picnic tables) area is shared with the other food vendors, there's more than enough to be comfortable. There's also a ton of parking, so you might opt to relax in your car (and A/C) to enjoy your food. Enjoy!

The shrimp at Famous Kahuku exceeded expectations. Whenever I cook shrimp at home, it never turns out this flavorful and I use several different shrimp recipes. I can't help but wonder--do they use a special seasoning or maybe a unique type of shrimp? Either way, the hot shrimp was absolutely incredible! The flavor was so good, it's hard to even describe. I can't quite put it into words to do it justice but what I can say is that it had a very fancy taste/flavor to it. Honestly, just go for it and order--you won't be disappointed!

We got the regular and spicy garlic shrimp plate and ate it at a nearby beach. Shrimp was seasoned well and cooked just right. The spicy version was too spicy for my wife and kids but I liked it the best.
