Kai Sallas' Pro Surf School Hawaii

Took a private lesson with Turner here. Great spot to learn and get some fundamentals. The waves were small on the day I went out but he was able to correct some bad habits I had so I could stay on the waves longer. If you are looking to surf long term I cannot recommend private lessons here enough. He pointed out some bad habits and as soon as I started correcting them I was catching more waves for longer. I definitely intend on coming here again. 10/10 would recommend

Had a highly positive whole family surfing lesson with Turner. Instruction and tips where very helpful for all with everyone having the opportunity to ride lots of waves. The Kai Sallas shop was easy to book with, all staff were super friendly, and heck why would you surf at Waikiki in "heavy traffic" when a short walk down you can have Kaimana surf basically to yourself.

65 years old and first time surfer-thanks to Turner I am addicted! Our group had a wide variety of ages and levels and he was amazing. Highly recommend Turner. Will be back in April and planning to return to Kai's school

Turner is the best surf instructor in Honolulu! He was so helpful to us and not only supportive but always showed up with a positive attitude. Very nice to chat to and were extremely grateful for his guidance. If youre looking for the surf instructor with the best advice and want relaxing but effective classes in learning surfing ask for Turner as an instructor!

Got surfing lessons with my dad and our instructor was Noa! He was super chill and kind, even when it was a waiting game for the waves he was fun to talk with. The surfing was awesome as well the water was perfect and we were in a spot where there was a lot of room. I would only be careful as the reef is right under your feet. Other than that it was great and would recommend.

Turner is by far the best surf instructor of all time! Super personable, knowledgeable, and patient. Solid session today. Helped clue me in on a lot of ocean knowledge and various techniques to improve my surfing. Caught about 12 waves in our two hour session and I am absolutely buzzing right now. Definitely recommend coming out and asking for Turner to be your instructor!

Noa is a great coach, fun & entertaining and never fails to bring a great atmosphere into the surfing lesson, highly recommended. Taught us so much while still keeping it a relaxing and chilled lesson. Thank you Noah for an awesome lesson! My sister and I are on vacation in Hawaii so we decided to take the group lesson. We booked ahead online and we were also able to switch the lesson time when something else came up. We also got lucky since we were the only two for the time we booked! It was my first time surfing so I was definitely nervous. Before getting into the water, Noah went over the basics on how to get onto the board. He gave pointers on how we can better position ourselves. We paddled out into the water and he let us have breaks if we got too tired. Noah was super helpful by giving further instructions on how we can improve our position for the next wave. It was a ton of fun! Definitely exhausting though. I was able to catch a few waves without falling so I was excited about that. After we finished the lesson, Noah helped us paddle back to shore.

Kai Turner and Noah are all great instructors. Highly recommended Very professional and fun!!!!!

They are walking distance from Waikiki Beach and way cheaper the. Renting at the businesses on the beach. Their boards are little banged up but get the job done.

I had a private lesson with Noah. I've surfed before on the east coast so I knew the basics, but had no experience in Hawaii. The lesson took place in a quieter area with few other surfers, which was nice. After each ride, Noah gave me additional advice about how to position my body, head, how to shift my weight around on the board, etc., which I was able to incorporate into the next ride. Absolutely worth having the private lesson in my opinion, never rushed, all instruction was customized to me, etc. I was exhausted at the end in a good way. The convenience couldn't be any better because I was staying in the Kaimana Beach hotel. And the views while surfing (looking back toward Diamond Head, the natatorium, and Waikiki) were great.

I can't recommend this surf school enough. I originally called here because it was very close to our hotel. However when I called to book the lessons, I found out they moved a little further East. I almost canceled, but I'm so happy I didn't . Kai did such an amazing job teaching my boys (8 & 12) how to surf. They were riding waves within the first half hour. We were in a much less populated area, and we were able to watch them the entire lesson. If you are staying at Waikiki beach and want lessons, I highly recommend you sign up with Kai.

It was a disappointment that this surf school didn't keep their commitment to give us a lesson the date/time we booked. We booked a month in advance. We asked for a refund, which had to be done online and we still are waiting for our money back.

My 7 years old wanted to try surfing and we came across this place. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable. They took good care of our son while taking his lesson and they encouraged him to do better and go on his own board. I fully recommend this place!

This was the best activity my sister and I could have chosen for our kids, we had three kids attend the school ages 9/10/12. The instructors were amazing, they made the experience fun to learn, and also made safety a priority. All of the kids were surfing like pros by the end of class and all were keen to repeat the experience. Parking was a breeze, the hotel had a great breakfast, and the team at Pro Surf were very professional, we will certainly be visiting them the next time we are in Hawaii! Thank you Pro Surf! Aloha!! The surfing lesson for my 9 yr. old son couldn't have gone any better. Dean was a very patient and friendly instructor. Safety was a priority, along with fun and education. Nico was able to pick it up fairly quickly thanks to Deans great disposition and genuine character. Nico did great and we loved the fact he was able to get up and ride the waves after the instruction, which he enjoyed very much. The surf lesson was set up by Disney Aulani, which should tell you that the businesses they choose to affiliate with are top notch. Thanks Dean!, we really appreciate your genuine friendliness and great teaching skills.

My daughter and husband have never surfed. I used to because I grew up on the PCH and well, it's just what you do! This surf lesson was recommended via our concierge at The Waikiki Marriott Resort & Spa. My husband booked a private lesson for he and my daughter. We met down in the surf shop later in the afternoon. The lesson took place right there in the shop.. basic 'how to's' on getting up ; paddling out; leg placement and balance. The boards are foam. We were shuttled out to a less busy beach away from Waikiki. Shoes were lended to both and we assumed rash guards would be too. My husband swore that he asked and that was confirmed upon booking. No rash guards were supplied; trust me.. You need these. The instructor was cool and nice enough. Both my daughter and my husband were able to surf within minutes of being out in the ocean. My daughter ended up loving surfing so much, she wants to go do more over the summer. That was a plus! NOT having rash guards was not , as both her and my husband were pretty rashed after an hour of surfing and hitting course sand and reef. The boards could have been a little better in quality, as well, as the lessons aren't cheap! The other issue we had, was being told that having a 'go pro' to video or film the session would render 100% loss of the device. That may be or not be true. We didn't chance it. After the session the instructor offered to air drop us the video and pix of both for $75 a piece if we gave him cash on the spot. I didn't have that much cash on me. He said he would upload them and we could get them from the shop the next morning via credit card. We wanted them! The next day we called and the girl that checked us in for the prior days lesson said we could have called the day before and she wished she had known. There were no uploaded pix. She said she would call us with the pix which we could them get via Dropbox later that day. She never called. It was 4 days after we returned back to the Mainland and several calls before we got these pix. Island time? I don't know. Improvements could be made.. the lesson itself was great .. maybe a better place and the lesson not in the shop. Rash guards are huge and updated equipment to match cost is key too. They could also have some sort of package so the customer knows the photos will be pricey and optional. It seemed tacky to do that after and then take so many calls to get photos that cost NOTHING to video;not that I am saying they should be free, but $150 for two is a lot. We were also entitled to a small discount by booking this surf school via our concierge and we never got it. 3 stars and on the fence whether to return or recommend.

I booked a beginners Waikiki surf lesson myself (not through a hotel or service) relatively last minute (2 days prior)...and while my calls were not picked up immediately, Sina got back to my voicemails through calls and texts, and I was able to get everything set up before my lesson. Jake was my instructor and was clear on technique, safety, and pointers for us after we each took our turn. I was in a full group class with a family who had kids of all ages, and Jake was great in supervising each person and making sure we caught plenty of waves over the course of the day. The 2 hour lesson time was a good duration for beginners, especially with a full class. I call this a hard experience to beat if you want to surf on Waikiki Things to note: - the address on Yelp is not where the lesson takes place, definitely refer to the website for the most current information (Kaimana Hotel) - if booking yourself, any credit card payments should be handled over the phone prior to arrival, but cash payments can be made at the shop

Amazing!!! I've wanted to learn how to surf since I was a little kid. Josh was our instructor and he did a fantastic job walking us through each step to prepare us for the water. Throughout our land training and even in the water, he also gave us feedback to improve which was very helpful. It took a few tries until I got the hang of it, but I finally got up and was surfing. On my last wave, I surfed the whole wave til I laid down to paddle to shore. It was also appreciated the safety tips josh gave us for when we go surfing on our own. I am so happy I signed up for this and finally got to learn how to surf. I am a new lover of surfing and can't wait to do it again. When I come back, I'll definitely be taking more lessons.

I would not recommend this surfing company especially if it is your first time ever surfing. Location: the area they have you surf is is shallow and has huge reef areas and big beams in the water you can crash into when you fall off the board. Instructors: most were good but their instructions weren't the best. Kai who owns this company was very very rude to myself and some other people in our group which I felt was very uncalled for. He was also supposed to take pictures but only got four pictures of me and then was upset when I didn't want to pay $39.95 for him to email me those pictures. Umm I'm sorry I'm not paying that ridiculous price for no pictures at all. Equipment: the surfboards are old and not good quality I got several rashes from the board. Also the rash guard shirts and reef shoes had holes in them. They also said their would be waters and snacks for us when we got done. They had four waters for 13 surfers and some granola bars. I loved Hawaiian fire surf school who no longer does surfing lessons and girls who surf were right next to us with the same boards and area so I don't know that they would be much better.

I wasn't a huge fan of my experience at Kai Sallas. I originally contacted them to see about renting a SUP. I am experienced with a SUP in calmer waters. However, since there are waves, coral and currents @ this beach, I got talked into a lesson bc I was told it would be fun to learn to "catch waves" on my SUP. It cost $200 for two hours for a private lesson, board rental included. The lesson started a bit late bc of the instructor and ended about 15 min early (my choice.) The walk to and from the beach with a heavy SUP was a bit of a hassle. At least the instructor carried both SUPs on the way there. It would be better to have the equipment on the beach. The water was very crowded with surfers, relegating my lesson to a less optimal area of the beach where the water was only 2-3 ft deep, with coral and rocks. You don't really want to fall into that without a full wet suit and water shoes. Trying to surf on a SUP, even under great conditions, is extremely hard unless you are already good with @ SUP'ing and surfing independently. I would have been much better off just renting a SUP like I originally intended to. My instructor was very likable as a person and fun to talk to, but not a great instructor. While I fell and struggled and got scratched up, he spent a lot of time watching other surfers and just hanging out. @ $100 an hour, I expected a much more customer service oriented experience.

This was One thing on my list( to learn to surf in Hawaii, which is now checked off). You book for 2 hours. The first 15mins explaining what to do. The rest is enjoying the water/waves. It was super peaceful. The instructor was super chill. He also simplified how to surf. They provide reef shoes,a rash guard, surfboard. The lesson is worth every penny! The waves weren't bad (they were small)for the first time. If you're in Hawaii Honolulu this is the place to surf. Side note they provide transportation which is a plus!

Located in the Kaimana Beach Hotel, this surf school was super easy to sign up for! I stopped by at 9 in the morning and was able to sign up my family of 4 for noon lessons that same day! We went out in two groups of 6 and our groups' instructor was Jake. He was soooo great! He kept his advice simple and really coached everyone well! In our two hours, including instruction, getting everyone set up with water shoes and rash guards, we still got sooo many rides in! The hardest part was just paddling out to the spot and paddling back in. The surfing itself was made so easy peasy, though, because we just lined up in our group of 6 and Jake would push us into the wave. Best way to learn since you don't overexert yourself just trying to paddle into a wave! Worth every penny!! Jake was so great too, taking time to really talk with each of us and encourage us while waiting for a good wave. He even offered tips and suggestions for good places to eat and see on the island for our vacation! Highly highly recommend! My only wish is that someone could have taken videos or photos--I would've bought them!

Such a great experience learning to surf with our children! With the experience and help from Kai, we all caught every single wave in a private beach not far from the Marriott. We had a lot of fun and highly recommend to others especially kids and first time surfers! Mahalo!

We had such an amazing experience for our 9 yo sons surf lesson. It was about a 15 minute walk our Waikiki hotel. They were super friendly amd our son loved the instruction from Noah. Noah was amazing and really was great with our son. They had so much fun out on water. It was our son's first experience surfing and was riding the waves in after just a few attempts thanks to Noah. This was such a great experience, I would recommend it to everyone.

This was a super fun experience!! I couldn't have asked for a greater time surfing for the first time. The instructions were well-explained, and our instructor, Chris, could not have been more patient or helpful in teaching us. It was impressive how he was able to navigate teaching someone new, like me, the basics of surfing while assisting another, more experienced surfer, more advanced moves. Chris was super kind and made the day extremely fun, and we even learned a little bit about Hawaii from a local himself!

Is it possible to give zero stars? We booked an intermediate/advanced SUP where it states we would be learning to catch waves. The day before our lesson we were asked to rebook b/c they had overbooked. When we arrived the instructor claimed we were only going for leisurely paddle and he was not going to take us into the surf. When we explained what we had booked we were met with confusion and it was clear the instructor was not comfortable taking us out. We cancelled and refunded but only after me asking Sina to please be quiet and listen to me. All in all a waste of a morning and such a huge let down after an positive experience learning to SUP surf with Kai Sallas here a couple of years ago.

I signed up for my Pro Surfer private lesson 3 days before the end of our Hawaii trip. The reviews were fabulous and we saw Kai himself in the store the day before so thought it was a great opportunity for some pro lessons. We called the next day to setup reservations for a semi-private lesson the next day. My wife planned to do shopping while I surfed the afternoon away the day before leaving. All was good.... The day of our lesson we receive a phone call an hour before....Sorry, we have to cancel. No explanation. We can rescehdule?????? We are leaving tomorrow! Lucky we had previously passed by Hans Hedemann's surf school earlier in the week. We walked to Hans' surf shop and signed up for the semi private lesson. Lucky for me, nobodly was signed up for that time and I got a Private Lesson at the semi price! Patrick took me out to an area close to the shop. We carried the longboards about 1/4 a mile from the busy Waikiki surf to an area where only 3 - 4 surfers were at. I caught more waves than I expected and was ready to go in from exaustion rather than from the time limit. I can't give Kai a good review since I was cancelled, but I do want to give a great review to Patrick who saved our vacation. I'm not sure, but I get the feeling my spot was canceled because nobody else signed up for the private lesson at my time slot with "Pro Surfers". I'm glad Hans' shop takes you out regardless. I would suggest that if you are late in your stay and want to surf, you pick a place that won't cancel on you last minute. Good luck to all of you new surfers!!!!! Aloha

My brother and I went on a group lesson last summer, but I forgot to write a review then. However, I am planning another trip to Honolulu, and it reminded me of my awful experience at Pro Surf School. First of all, the "secluded surf spot" they boast about is abandoned for a reason. We had to drive from the resort to the location, when the last time I took surf lessons in Hawaii, I literally just walked out onto the beach. We got to the ocean--not the beach, the OCEAN. I say that because after the car was parked and boards unloaded, we just jumped into the water right next to the parking lot. There was no sand; the waves crashed into the concrete walls. Also, there was a drainage pipe coming out of one of the walls, which was kind of off-putting. The ocean floor was covered with loose rocks, so surfing there can be pretty dangerous. Imagine falling off your surfboard, face first into shallow water filled with pointy rocks! Finally, since it would sorta be a problem if one of the surfers crashed into the concrete wall, our instructer took us pretty far out into the ocean. So if you have friends or family that want to capture your surfing experience without a special zoom lens, good luck.

If you're even considering it.... Just do it!! I was super scared at first, having no experience whatsoever. But our instructor made us feel super safe out on the water. It feels so liberating to stand up on your board after doubting yourself! These guys know what they're doing. If you're looking for a place to learn, sign up at Kai Sallas'. They'll take gopro photos of you riding the waves too!

First class all the way. Kai's a great guy and an expert surfer. He takes time to work with you and adjust the lesson based on your individual skills and experience. Not much else to say...highly recommended. I plan to make an appointment with him on my future trips to Oahu!

2.5 stars! ! Would have given it 4 stars if not for the poor customer service! Signed up for private surf lessons for my two children. The instructors were friendly and the kids had a fun time. Kai Sallas took photos of my kids surfing and said he would upload them and send me a link the next day (for purchase). It's been OVER 10 days and I haven't received a thing. Called and emailed several times but no one bothered to respond. Disappointed :(

Great experience!! I wasn't feeling great and my 8 year old was a little scared. The intructor was great helping me when i needed it dues to being a little sick. Even more important was the help my son received we awesome. He was able to get up right out of the gate. It was great to watch him stuff!! Recommended.

I had family visiting from the mainland staying at the Marriott so I scheduled surf lessons with Kai at Pro Surf School Hawaii. Kai took out my cousins and nephew. They had a great time!!! Best of all pics were posted almost immediately to the FB page so that my nephew could share pics of himself with his friends, which he thought was super cool! They had a great time! Kai personally takes you out and is a very experienced surfer so he will take you to the right surf spots. Since I'm not a surfer it was such a relief! Mahalo, Kai!

I've been to Hawaii a few times and tried surfing with a few other surf schools but Kai is bar none the best. How often can you actually get a lesson from the best surfer in the world. Kai took us out of Waikiki where that the surf was better and we did not have to deal with other people. He is professional, patient and just a really good teacher. Also he has an underwater camera and he takes awesome surfing pics. Overall it was well worth it and I highly recommend Pro Surf School to everyone.

Kai did an awesome job for my son and grandma! Both got up on boards with no experience and they were very safe and attentive. He got great Pics of both. Couldn't ask for anything more. Thank u Kai and also to his instruction team. I felt very reassured they could keep my 9 year old son safe and he had a blast!

It took a bit to find the place but they had quite a selection of boards on the rack. Hard and soft tops. Fun board and long boards are the main boards for Waikiki. Today was 1-2ft. So took out a brand new red 9'0 walton board. Had a groupon deal that was $25 for two day rental. They also will exchange the board to whatever you would like. Their expertise is very helpful as well. $25 for two days... it was a steal.

A great experience and you can't beat the price with a groupon or living social deal. We had a great experience! As first-time surfers we were appreciative of the step-by-step instruction we received beforehand. We also liked they took us too an uncrowded area so that we didn't feel pressure by being with "real" surfers! My husband and i were fairly sore afterwards, but my kids did not complain. We are in decent shape, so this was kind of surprising...makes you understand why surfers all have such great physiques! Also, my kids are 9, 13 and 15. All 3 were able to pick it up and didn't get too tired. My 9 year old got tired paddling out, but once she started surfing she didn't mind the work it took to get out. Finally, our instructor, Rick, was super nice, patient and knowledgeable. We had a semi-private lesson and it was well worth the cost. A once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and my husband, but hopefully not my kids:).

Exactly what you want from surf instruction. The Salus family are multi generational surfers and know how to teach. I have tried surfing before in Tofino, Canada and only caught one wave. Decided that because I had only one week in Hawaii that it would be worth while to get lessons. WOW what a difference good instruction makes, our instructor made it so my friend and I caught every single wave we went for. We were driven to a quiet area about 10 minutes from Waikiki beach with no competition for the waves. As an added bonus the instructors are total bros. They let us know which bars and restaurants to go to for the fun we were seeking (as Canadians we didn't have data on our phones so we couldn't get on Yelp to figure out where to go)

Went on a group lesson. There were four of us students, and the instructor took us to a break maybe half a mile east of the Duke statue, by the "War Memorial". there was no one else surfing this break, which was nice because I feel like it would have been crowded and a bit intimidating to try surfing for the first time amongst the throngs of Waikiki. We paddled out and the instructor set us up, one by one, to catch each available wave. He'd tell us to paddle, give us a push, and yell "Up!" when it was time to stand. Took me about 4 tries before I could stand for more than a few seconds. But once I could, it was exhilarating! I can see how people get addicted to this. The instructor did all the heavy-lifting, actually tossing the boards to us from a wall while we were already in the water. He was patient and pleasant to be around. 5 stars.

The beach was beautiful, instructors and safety top notch. Dino was wonderful one on one teacher for my son, Matt. Would recommend to everyone!

Amazing staff! Amazing service! My son had the best experience his first time surfing. He went again the next day and had a private lesson. I'm pretty sure he will be back a few more times before we go home. A special thank you to Max, Beau, and Kai! We are so blessed to have these great memories of our first time in Hawaii.

My family of four used Pro Surf School for our first ever surfing lesson and it went pretty well. My only complaint was the surf conditions which were pretty rough and windy. I'm a small person and found it hard to not get swept down beach. But, it was pretty secluded and we got really good instructions and lots of help. Everyone but me was successful at standing up and surfing several times. Our instructor was supportive and helpful and made it a good experience. We surfed again the next week in Maui with a different group and the instructor was rude and pushy - really off-putting. The pictures were also really great, if pricey - but you don't have to buy them!

Pro surf school was fantastic. Hands on teaching with limited lesson size so you get a lot of instruction from teacher. I went out with a pro surfer who had me riding waves on my own in no time. The teacher was very friendly and professional. We surfed in a more remote location down the shore from Waikiki so we didnt have to compete with other surfers for waves. The price was very reasonable and worth it. Definitely recommend a lesson or just renting a board for the day.

Waste of time and money. First of all, the parking in the hotel is $8/hr or $12 for the valet. You can park a couple of blocks over at the zoo for much less but that is just further you have to carry your stuff. Next, they have no way to transport the boards to the beach. I rented a 45lb paddle board and just about died trying to get it to the beach. I was actually too tired to even paddle. So, I just sat on the beach for a bit and went back to return it. The walk to the beach is only about 2 blocks BUT the immediate area is for swimming. You have to walk another couple of blocks over to get to where you can surf or paddle. The surf boards aren't that heavy but if you want to paddle, rent from the guys on the beach. Wish I had seen them first.

Zack and Rick were the best! First time surfing and they don't judge even if you're terrible. They really are full of energy and hilarious had such a fun time and would definitely recommend. Always making sure you feel comfortable and always cheering once you finally get it even if it takes 7 tries lol. Short instructions before helped too so you have some sense of what to do

Had a great time as a father/ daughter activity. My 8 yo had such a good time with Loren she wants a surf board! Kind instructors made learning fun. They teach at a nice beach which is secluded and nearly empty even during spring break. Also want to praise another of the instructors, Chris who was able to work with a young teen with autism spectrum successfully and got him out on the board.

This was a great first surf lesson. It was pretty structured and fairly technical, which I liked because I like to know the correct methodology for doing this kind of thing. They took us to a spot away from the crowded parts of Waikiki; it was a little reefy on the bottom, but they gave us booties to protect our feet, and it was worth it to get to learn to surf without literally 50 other people all around you to worry about. The instructors are genuine, nice people who really want to see you do well at surfing. Kai Sallas the owner is a pretty big deal professional surfer, and he even took extra time to talk to me about good surf spots in California, technique and timing for catching waves, etc. Such nice people here; glad I came.

A MUST DO !!!! My sister was looking to take surf lessons. We had gone down to the local school on the beach a few days before to take paddle board lessons. The people were very nice but the beach was crowded and after about 15 minutes the instructor just let us go on our own. We were going to go back for surf lessons but the beach was packed and the classes were around 10 people. We had seen the surf school in our hotel and decided to go try and get in a class. We walked up a 9 and they were taking 2 people out and had room in the class. So we signed up. Lucky for us, usually people book a day or two in advance. Kai gave us some instruction in the office and then we loaded up the car to drive down the beach. Kai is a super chill guy and a good teacher. We went to a quiet part of the beach and it made the lessons so much better! There were only four of us so there was a lot of one on one instruction and a great opportunity for pictures. This is the best way for a first timer to learn no matter your age. We had the best time, and it wasn't till my sister looked up Kai's. Page that we found our he's a world champion surfer. He was such a great guy! This is must do for anyone visiting Hawaii. You'll be glad you did

These guys are the best! They have helped 1,000's of people succeed at surfing including me, my girlfriend and an 89 year old grandmother from Ireland. Every single person in my lesson stood up, and with their help you will too! Ezra Rodrigues was my instructor and he was top notch. They even have a secret area to learn where you escape the crowds. Way better quality and less expensive than the lessons sold on the beach.

Wonderful experience with Deano surfing. I had a great time doing two surf lessons, one of which was with me and a younger family member. Deano did a great job at helping her and also teaching me on the first lesson. I've surfed before but was rusty as it had been a long time. Deano got me going with the basics and both students were quickly surfing some small waves and having a lot of fun doing it. The first location was shallow reef, but it is great for a great beginner spot as long as you listen to the instructors instructions. My next lesson Deano took me to another location where there was deeper water and slightly bigger waves that were a little more aggressive. He got me going on a few, then taught me how to see the waves that I can catch, something other instructors haven't done with me. It's important to be able to tell which waves you are good to catch further out so you are ready for them, and he helped me do that in a much better way. After that he allowed me to surf and gave advice where needed, but from there on it is just practice and fun :) As for Deano himself, he was an amazing instructor, very kind and helpful, and was a very easy person to talk to, which made the lesson even more fun. I had a blast with this group, although I can only speak for Deano's teaching skills, but I highly recommend this place to learn how to surf, and hope anyone looking to surf has as much fun as I did.

This is the best surf school ever and Kai was absolutely the best instructor! I've been trying to catch waves on my SUP for a long time and Kai really broke down the technique in a way that no other instructor has before. Kai knows his stuff (obviously, since he's one of the best pro surfers!) and he knows how to teach effectively. I caught more waves with him than I had in a whole year in San Diego where I live! Kai is a super nice, patient, and humble guy who helped me feel comfortable and confident in the water. I learned so much during my private lessons with him and I can't wait to keep practicing what he taught me. Thanks, Kai! It was definitely one of my favorite experiences!

I had a friend visit from out of state and we bought a groupon for this place. It was a great deal and the boards were pretty nice for a rental place. We worked with Sina and she was awesome, friendly and knowledgeable. There was no pressure or stress; the whole process was simple and easy. I highly recommend!

We got a package from them including a lesson and a five day rental. They staff was SO nice and helpful. My son really enjoyed the lesson. It was easy to rent a board , walk 3 blocks and surf little waves.

Kai and his team are great! The whole experience exceeded our expectations. Kai is very patient and helpful in his instruction, and had us all on our boards and surfing within minutes. His sense of humor added to the fun, and his knowledge made it a good learning experience. I would recommend the Pro Surf School to anyone.
